I will help you.

It's fine. I can handle this.

I can do it myself.

Hush.

Do you really think

your body is made of iron?

Look at the serious wound.

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

It's fine.

It has already recovered.

I don't feel pain.

It hasn't recovered yet.

Official Zhao hurt you too badly.

No, it wasn't Official Zhao.

I was hit by the falling beam.

Do you think I can't fight him?

I...

Let me continue to apply the ointment.

Stop!

Under this pure moon,

what are you doing here?

- I... - I...

I'm helping Tie Niu to apply the ointment.

That's right.

Helping him with the ointment?

But you touched him.

That's the skin-to-skin contact.

Brat.

Why can't you notice

that I'm injured too?

Did you get hurt too?

Did I get hurt too?

Look at this.

Look at here,

here

and here.

Come on.

I need the ointment too.

Over here.

You!

Shameless.

You deserve the pain.

Lvying!

I'm shameless?

Tie Niu!

You hurt your fist, not me.

Miss Lvying.

My blade.

Where's my blade?

Have you watched the show during the day?

Do you fathom

the story?

I know nothing about the show.

I couldn't understand

what they were gabbling about.

I thought you were a mighty hero.

How timid of you.

Just be straight with me.

Do you like me or not?

I need an answer today

and nothing else.

Are you deaf?

I want to tell you

that I like you.

And I want to marry you.

If you can't fathom this,

I will explain to you the entire night,

the entire year

and my whole life.

Your Highness.

You're the one who can't see through this.

I don't like you.

I don't have a thing for you

nor will I marry you.

That's impossible.

Why did you treat me nicely then?

Why did you rescue me

during Qin Miuzhen's assassination two years ago?

And...

It was my responsibility to protect you.

Please accept my apology

if I have misled you.

However, if you insist on

forcing me,

I would report to His Highness

and I will leave the capital forever.

Shut it!

You can also ask His Majesty to sentence me to death.

But nothing will be changed.

Love relationship is forged when two people truly love each other,

not by force.

You leave now, Zhan Yue.

I won't see you again.

Xiao.

Your Highness, do you come here

with some sort of machination again?

I...

I came here for Xiao.

Oh, good.

Let me tell you this.

After returning to the capital,

Xiao and I will stay at Song's Residence.

No, I don't agree.

Miss Shen.

We better get something straight.

I admit

that I feigned blindness

on purpose.

But I wasn't aiming at you.

What do you mean?

Xiao is my child.

Over these two years, you abandoned him

and went to Weiyang with Third Master Song.

I won't hold you accountable.

However, you turn up

after a sudden departure.

I don't think it's fair to me.

Xiao belongs to the Shen family.

I won't allow him to stay with you

and get involved

in the murky imperial court.

Xiao is my son too.

Do you think he can be in the clear

staying with Third Master Song

despite of his identity?

Do you want him to call me Great-uncle

and leave him fatherless for good?

Miao.

I have gone through all of these before.

I don't want to put Xiao through

the same misery I had before.

What do you want me to do?

Let's raise Xiao together

for one year.

After he grows up,

he will choose his future.

Just one month.

Half a year.

Three months.

Deal.

Rest assured.

I will keep my promise

and never keep anything from you and Xiao.

I hope you can put yourself

in Xiao's shoes.

Please don't repeat what had happened

two years ago.

Your Highness.

Are you going to give up on her?

I knew it.

You're just playing hard to get.

Highbrows always have a quack

for wooing the ladies.

Honestly, I did that out of desperation.

If I didn't do that,

she would've left with Third Master Song.

You're right.

Your Highness.

If Miss Shen is moving into the residence,

then Lvying...

Your Highness.

Please be generous

and pass on some tips to me.

Do you want to learn?

Yes, with full sincerity.

Restrain yourself from being a smooth talker.

You should behave well.

All right, sure.

Official Zhan.

What's wrong with you?

Did Her Highness bully you again?

Did you turn her down?

I don't deserve her.

That's your own thought.

Zhan Yue.

You will regret it

if you miss out on her.

Whether I will regret it

or not,

Her Highness is of noble identity.

She deserves a better man.

Thanks.

What's wrong with Zhan Yue?

He gives up on Her Highness

who woos him.

So what kind of woman is he looking for?

He's not easily satisfied.

What do you think, Your Highness?

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

What...

What's wrong with you two?

Are you cold?

Put this on.

Here.

I...

Thank you.

Look at the moon.

(Regent's Residence)

Xiao, come here.

Don't worry, Xiao.

I have something to speak to Xiyuan. I will be back soon.

I swear

I won't leave you alone.

Lvying, stay with Xiao.

Let's go.

(Regent's Residence)

Miaomiao.

Do you really want to stay here?

Regent's Residence is impregnable.

What if anything befalls you

in this residence?

Well.

You have done more than enough for me.

I shouldn't rely on you.

I don't mind.

I know.

But Pei Yanzhen was right.

I should do justice to Xiao

regardless of the conflicts between him and me.

The coming three months

is the compensation for Xiao over these years.

I know now.

Father.

I thought we were going to get you back.

Why did you depart from Yanlan alone?

What has happened to you?

Where's Zai?

Why didn't he come back with you?

Miao.

Concerning such a dangerous situation,

it's very hard for us to make it back here in one piece.

Then,

what about Zai?

Zai

was captured by Pei Yanzhen.

What?

That's impossible.

Pei Yanzhen has been...

I heard it myself. How can this not be true?

I'm telling the truth.

Pei Yanzhen did that.

I have given three two-dots out.

It's your turn now.

Six-character from you?

Father.

When are we departing?

I miss Sister very much.

I packed the money two days ago.

Once Third Master Song's men arrive,

we will get to reunite with Miao and Xiao soon.

May I ask if you're Master Shen Qian?

This...

Miao.

What happened to Miao?

I'm the servant from the Regent's Residence.

According to His Highness,

Miss Shen was almost killed at Baima Temple in Weiyang.

And she hasn't regained consciousness.

I'm here to escort you back

to the capital.

What...

What did you say?

Miao was almost killed?

Who did that?

How's Miao now?

Father.

Ask no more.

Sister's life is at stake now.

We better depart now.

You're right.

Hurry up.

Pack some clothes

and we will set off now.

Sure.

Give me a moment.

They are the servants of Song's family.

I can invite them over

for the journey back to the capital.

Put me down. What are you doing?

Very good.

Be careful.

Thank you so much.

I will carry them.

Where's Zai?

Did you see my son, Zai?

No.

The scrimshaw deer

is always with Xiao

and never leaves him.

How could it be here?

It must be a counterfeit changed by Pei Yanzhen.

Is everything he did on the way back

out of deception?

It's all but a scheme.

I can't believe this.

Miao.

If Third Master Song's men hadn't escorted us back,

I couldn't imagine what Pei Yanzhen would've done to us.

We've been looking over our shoulders

and we fear that you...

If anything horrible befalls you,

both of us will...

It's all my fault.

I should've sent more men to protect you.

I didn't expect

Pei Yanzhen could be so fast.

The news of your return

was exposed by me

that night in the relay station.

And it benefitted him to act one step ahead.

I'm to blame.

We have witnessed his capability

in putting showmanship.

But I've never expected he would do it again so soon.

It's not your fault.

Also,

he's the Regent

and he's powerful.

But what is his purpose

of abducting Zai?

I know.

The reason why he wants you to move into the Regent's Residence

is to wipe out the Shen family.

Back in the days in Lingzhou,

he married you because of money.

A leopard can't change its spots.

Over the years, we have revealed

our identity

to ease the business in Yanlan.

I'm sure he still covets

the fortune of both Shen and Lu family

after failing to find anything from the scrimshaw deer.

I don't think so.

I've already told him

the entire property of the Lu family has been liquidated into several stores

under the name of the Shen family.

Miaomiao, let me ask you this.

If Old Master Shen weren't saved by my servants

and returned here

just before you moved into the Regent's Residence,

if you only got to know about the disappearance of your family

after you're with Pei Yanzhen,

what would you do then?

I would save them in every possible way.

That's the intention of his setup.

Miaomiao.

Don't forget about this.

Back then,

he tried to eliminate the Shen family.

It's out of the question

he will let you off easily.

Your Highness.

Please sit down.

She has left with Song Xiyuan for a long time.

How come she's not back yet?

Probably she got held up by something.

Xiao is here.

Shen Miao won't run off alone.

Stop walking around in front of me.

I'm getting giddy.

For some reason,

I can feel that something comes up.

You're just overwhelmed with joy.

That's why you're anxious.

You're over the moon as the person you've been waiting for two years

is coming back to you.

I'm going

to confront Pei Yanzhen.

Hold on, Miao.

Since we've discovered the foe's plan,

we'd better make a plan to deal with it now.

If you show all of the cards to Pei Yanzhen,

we won't stand a chance to win.

Miao.

Master Song is right.

This is a long game.

Father.

Zai and Xiao have fallen prey to him.

We can't wait anymore.

Watch out!

Third Master Song.

Master Song.

Tie Niu.

Catch the assassin.

Faster.

Go get a physician.

Sir.

Is the dart poisonous?

Fortunately, it's not.

But there's a groove on the arrow.

Concerning Official Song's injury,

he needs some time to recuperate.

All right.

Thank you, sir.

Miaomiao.

Fret not.

I look frail from the outside,

but I practice martial art skills too.

My body is tough.

Take a seat.

Master.

Master.

Look.

This was found in the murderer.

You may leave now.

Yes.

The murderer who shot my father today.

Was it him?

(Song's Residence)

No.

No, you can't go.

Why do you risk your life

to confront him?

Can you please consider me and Xiao?

Have you ever thought

that how miserable we will be

to lose you again?

But I have no choice now.

Zai is in his hand.

If I don't enter his residence

to look for clues,

concerning Pei Yanzhen's character,

I will never be able to see Zai again.

If Pei Yanzhen comes after

the fortune of the Shen family,

he must have a foolproof plan

aside from kidnapping Zai.

If you confront him unprepared,

you will expose your parents' whereabouts,

let alone rescue Zai.

Have you thought of these?

Miaomiao.

You have to consider Xiao

and all of us before you decide.

There are many choices other than Pei Yanzhen in this world.

Probably you will have a better choice

after leaving him.

If he really did that to me,

I will never forgive him.

However, I need to know the truth.

Are you sure you can get the truth out from him?

Old Master Shen was right.

This is a long game.

Miaomiao.

I know what you care about the most.

I will help you in my power

and protect you from harm.

(Regent's Residence)

Xiao.

Why haven't you gone to bed?

Mother, you're back.

Let me check.

His lie is impeccable.

I wouldn't have noticed this

without the crack on it.

Xiao.

I have something to ask you.

Answer me honestly.

Throughout the journey,

did anyone touch it?

It was Great-uncle.

Oh, right.

And Official Zhao too.

He said

that he never saw this before.

Actually, when you were away,

Great-uncle would ask this from me

whenever he missed you.

Probably he wasn't thinking of me,

but to cast a big web.

Mother, I don't understand what you said.

Nothing, Xiao.

Listen to this carefully.

Don't tell anyone

about what I asked you just now.

All right?

Good boy.

Come on.

Let's go to sleep.

(Daqing Hall)

Did you hear that?

Regent is coming to the morning assembly

after two years.

I heard

that his eyes went blind

on the way back here.

But I heard

that his eyes were already hurt two years ago.

He went to Weiyang this time

to treat his eyes.

Speaking of Official Song,

he was once an influential character in the imperial court.

But he was exiled to Weiyang by His Highness.

How come this feuding pair

returned together?

Your Highness,

you look great today.

However, I'm not better than you. How fortunate of you.

I heard that you were shot yesterday.

Yet you return in a tip-top form today.

People might think

that your wound is a fake one.

Here comes His Majesty.

- Long live the emperor. - Long live the emperor.

Rise.

- Thank you, Your Majesty. - Thank you, Your Majesty.

You're finally back.

With both of you here,

I can be at ease now.

It's my great pleasure

to be trusted by you, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

I heard that there was an unrest at the border

while I was on my way back from Weiyang.

May I ask

what has happened?

This is what has been bothering me.

Our neighboring country has been creating disturbances

for centuries.

They deployed the army troops

to harass the frontier

when you were away.

That's hateful.

I've dispatched troops to suppress.

Unexpectedly, the terrain and weather in the grassland are complicated.

And the war ended

in a dead heat.

A few days ago, the Prince sent a missive to negotiate for peace.

They wanted a truce

and promised to stop meddling in our land.

For the well-being of the two nations,

they requested a marital union with us

so as to forge a good diplomatic bond.

However,

they asked to marry my younger sister,

Ninth Princess.

Request for Ninth Princess?

Master.

Just now,

several officials

wanted to invite you to Guchun Restaurant

for the allied marriage discussion.

Master, who's sent for the allied marriage?

Don't ask so much.

Never let Miaomiao know about this.

Otherwise, she'll be worried.

Official Pei.

Are you heading home?

Of course.

What a coincidence.

I'm going to visit Xiao too.

Why don't we go together?

Official Pei.

Why dawdle?

Get on the carriage.

Please, Official Pei.

Official Song, you're kind of clingy.

Why?

Are you not accepting me as a guest?

Don't tell me

you speak ill of me

because of my dashing look.

(Calmness)

Surely, you jest.

I'm not like someone

who intends

to steal away

other's wife and son.

Lvying.

I've written some discourses on the politics.

Please review it.

Gosh, Young Master.

Please spare me.

It's impossible

for me

to fathom such profound knowledge.

Lvying, you will be learning strategies

of doing business as you stay by Mother's side.

You ought to learn from now.

Tell me

what you don't understand.

Oh, I almost forgot

the chicken soup in the kitchen.

Miss will blame me

if it is overcooked.

Right?

I must check on it now.

Lvying.

Not bad.

Not bad?

It's very good.

Brilliant.

Excellent.

Xiao.

Never be

clever clogs like him

when you grow up.

Of course, he's considered excellent

compared to you, Third Master Song.

Xiao.

One usually gets less than expected when he aims at mediocrity,

let alone those who aim for lower goals.

You must take a longer view.

Xiao.

What's wrong?

Miao.

What's wrong?

Probably I got tired after the journey back.

Your Highness, you must be occupied with work.

Please don't let us keep you.

Third Master Song.

May I have a word with you?

Gentlemen shouldn't force others

to go on their way.

Official Pei, you're a scholar.

I think you understand what it means.

Song Xiyuan.

I don't care what you're plotting.

Stay away from Miao and Xiao.

I should say that to you instead.

After all, you're the one

who always brings troubles to them.

What do you ask for?

I want you to leave the capital

and stay out of the sight of Miaomiao.

That's impossible.

If so, we have nothing to talk about.

And we don't have to pretend anymore.

Your Highness.

We will work our magic.

Miaomiao.

Have you found any clues about Zai

from the residence?

It's fine.

Don't worry.

Let's go back

and plan.

All right?

Third Master Song.

You have done so much for me.

When we were in Weiyang for two years,

you made my heroine's dream come true.

And for the three years in Lingzhou,

thank you for taking care of Xiao for me.

However,

I need to do this myself.

I'm afraid that I can't repay

all your kindness

if I get you involved again.

Please don't push me away.

Miaomiao.

Tell me honestly.

What do I mean to you?

Friend.

Well.

Even though you just regard me as your friend,

I can't put you in danger alone.

I can't stand the pain I have had for the past two years.

Could you promise me

for the sake of Xiao and your parents?

All right?

Actually, I have a plan.

As long as you collaborate with me,

we can find Zai for sure.

Will you

give it a try?

(Regent's Residence)

Pei Yanzhen.

Pei Yanzhen, what's wrong with you?

Sitting there in silence.

You acted weirdly since the afternoon.

What happened?

Probably Shen Miao has given her trust to Third Master Song

instead of you.

Well.

It's not her fault.

Official Song

is honey-lipped and amusing.

Unlike you,

you're eccentric

and refuse to clear up

the misunderstandings.

Serve you right.

Pei Yanzhen.

You ungrateful fellow.

I just came back from Song's Residence

with some information.

What have you found?

Banknotes?

Well, I will tell you then.

Shen Miao's parents have returned here.

However, Shen Zai is nowhere to be seen.

Do you think

Song Xiyuan would make use of this

to plot against us?

I can scout more for you.

As long as you offer more money.

(Yanzhen, the evil intention of Yanlan becomes apparent.)

(They deployed troops to harass our land when you were away.)

What?

Yes, that's true.

His Majesty intends

to send Ninth Princess for the allied marriage.

You should give it some thought.

The attack from the neighboring country

was because of the drought in their place

and they lack food supplies.

The allied marriage isn't their real motive.

Perhaps we can organize a trade

with them.

We can trade them the rice grains

and linen fabrics

for their steeds and weapons.

Probably that will hit the spot.

Therefore, we don't have to send Princess for allied marriage.

And it will

solve the pain in the pack that has lasted for centuries.

According to what you said,

it's a brilliant proposition.

Please forgive me.

My friend is too reserved to speak.

So I have to help him out.

Hongque, where are you taking me?

I have to try on the wedding gown.

Be careful.

Zhan Yue.

Your Highness.

Who asked you to come here?

Did Brother send you to escort me for the allied marriage

because of your great skills?

No.

Why are you here then?

I found this.

Please don't lose it again.

All right?

Pass it to Pei Yanzhen.

Gosh, I beg of you.

Zhan Yue.

I didn't lose it.

I just don't deserve this.

Your Highness.

This paper crane is stupid.

It lied that it wanted freedom

because it doesn't deserve a warm embrace.

Can you please

accept its apology?

- Miss. - Miss.

(Zai seems)

(to be locked up in another place.)

(I must think of a way)

(to make him tell me.)

Master.

You just got injured

and you need some rest.

But it seems you're in a good mood to play with the bird.

It's boring though.

This bird can ward off my boredom.

Go and check on Old Master Shen if he needs anything.

Do treat them nicely.

Yes, Master.

Third Master Song.

You're mighty and brave.

Third Master Song.

You're wise and resourceful.

Excellent.

Say something else.

Annihilate the Song family.

Hey.

I've taught you many times. Can't you remember it well?

It should be "annihilate the Shen family".

Can you remember that?

Annihilate the Shen family.

Annihilate the Shen family.

Well done.

Miaomiao.

I have told you.

I want the entire world

and you.
