[Knight of the Rose]

[Episode 22]

All this while,

I've always been at the hospital.

I didn't have the chance to return to the office.

You're an intelligent person.

You should know what consequences you will face

if you betray me.

Sorry.

I will do my best.

Mr. Kang,

I've been looking for you.

What are you doing here?

I...

I came out to take a breather.

What's wrong? Do you need anything?

Mr. Kang,

Zhou Yilin has told me about what happened

between you and Kang Fei.

How are things

between you?

She wasn't willing to answer my call.

There's still a long way to go.

I believe

that she will understand your kindness gradually.

My kindness?

Yes.

I was young when Mom passed away.

Back then, I had no idea

how to deal with the death of a family member.

I just felt

that my world crumbled

overnight.

Mr. Kang.

I have no idea

what I would have become if it weren't for you.

In fact,

I think you're just like a father to me.

Mr. Kang,

I'd like to invite you

to be a witness at my wedding in a week.

Me?

No, no.

Well...

It sounds like way too much responsibility.

My dad and I came up with that idea together.

His condition is unstable.

He might not be able

to make it to my wedding personally.

But he told me

I must have an important elder

by my side on that day.

Mr. Kang,

you're the only person

who can

fit this role.

No.

Wait.

Let me think about it.

Regarding this matter,

I think it's inappropriate.

Mr. Kang,

Xingxing and I thought

that there was no need for a formal wedding.

We just want to invite some

of our family members and close friends.

Moreover, it's appropriate

for you to be our wedding witness.

[Mr. Kang.]

(Feifei, it's me.)

(Are you free during the weekend?)

(I know you're unwilling to acknowledge me as your father.)

(Feifei, remember.)

(I use your birthday for all of my passwords.)

Compared to your daughter,

my son

is less intense.

However, he did

take after me for his appearance.

At least he's not ugly.

Dad, am I indeed your son?

You are.

However, you need to improve on one point.

You lack my decisiveness.

It took you so much time

just to arrange a wedding.

Dad,

do you feel happy when you take a dig at me?

Baofeng,

if nothing else,

the prosthetic arm your son gave me

is instrumental.

In the past, my right hand was almost useless.

You guys can ask Xingxing

how many things I've smashed in the house.

We have to believe in high-tech products.

Look at this.

Of course.

My son had been basked

in the radiance of high-tech products overseas for a long time.

He would surely pick the best option for you.

That's right. Look at me now.

It's so agile.

It can rotate 360 degrees.

After using it, I can dance

with two of them

when I grab a knife.

My son bought you the prosthetic arm.

But now, you want to stab him?

Precisely, Dad.

How could you try that on Wei Lan?

Xingxing is still the best for me.

A self-defense stick is enough.

Here.

Let's drink.

Here.

Let's drink.

Cheers.

Nice.

Cheers.

Dad, eat up.

Zhou, what's wrong?

Thank you.

Dad,

have some meat.

Okay.

Try this.

Try this dish.

Try this, too.

It's pickled vegetables.

The bamboo shoots

are very delicious.

Zhou,

say that again.

Dad.

Wei Lan.

Is something wrong with the company?

The experiment of QW1

has succeeded.

I can cure your disease now.

Good boy.

Mr. Wei,

as the Project Director of the R&D Department of the Runshi Group,

I would like to make a report on behalf of my department.

Since 2017,

we've started inventing QW1, a third-generation

anticancer drug.

Now, we've obtained a specific result

with the statistics we have.

Please take a look.

Mr. Wei,

the drug trial

was a success.

Now, you just need

to sign your name on this written authorization.

[Written Authorization]

Then

QW1 can be used as a clinical drug

and be mass-produced.

[President's signature: Wei Lan]

Everyone.

We've succeeded!

We did it!

Everyone, quiet down.

I'd like to say a few words on behalf of our low-key Mr. Wei.

For today's gathering,

first,

it's to celebrate QW1's huge progress.

Second,

which is more important.

We're here to see off our prodigy,

Ling Ting.

Ling Ting,

thank you for everything you've done for Runshi.

I admit

you're a little better

than I was back then.

Ling Ting,

although you're returning to America,

you must come back

to visit me and the others

you care about when you're free.

Ling Ting,

study hard in America.

There will

always be a place

for you in our laboratory.

We'll fight together again

when you are back.

Sun Meixi,

I'm leaving.

I hope your university life

can proceed smoothly.

May you obtain great grades.

Don't you think you've omitted one step?

Goodness!

You two are a match made in heaven.

An office romance is so sweet.

You two are the best-looking couple

in the office of people in love.

These young ladies.

Ling Ting.

You're too rude.

Xingxing.

Mr. Wei is actually Xingxing's boyfriend now?

They're showing off!

How did we not know that?

That's too much!

They're so sweet!

They're so mushy.

The best-looking couple in the company

[Marriage Certificate] is here.

Oh, my God.

[May you recover soon] The doctor said

my condition had taken a turn for the better.

I also feel much more energetic now.

You should continue to follow the treatment.

Okay.

I'll listen to you.

By the way,

this is the latest news the lawyer has sent to us.

According to the investigation,

Gao Song not only bought the accountant to make false accounts

[Criminal suspect, Gao Song, "Hypnotist"] and embezzled public funds

but also had another identity.

The cops had found out that he

was the informant

that Wonder Group planted in Huadong.

Code name, Mr. Hypnotist.

Is he Mr. Hypnotist?

Do you have solid evidence?

He hasn't been convicted of his crime yet.

However,

they've found much evidence in his house,

like anti-tracking phones given by Wonder Group,

emails, etc.

The result is pretty obvious.

In my opinion,

Gao Song

is bold and ruthless.

I didn't expect him

to get involved with crime groups.

Now that I think about it,

Wonder Group was able to set us up again and again

because there was a spy in our company.

We succeeded in developing the drug

and caught the spy.

My old buddy, An Shirui, is not against me anymore.

And now, you two

are also about to have a wedding.

In my opinion,

fortune knocks once at every man's door.

Now it has finally knocked on our Wei family's door.

Here, try this.

Baofeng,

although I raise my daughter

as a son,

and since she was young,

I have rarely let her wear dresses.

But you know,

every father

wants to see his daughter

walk down the aisle

in a white wedding dress.

Indeed.

You know

my reputation is important to me.

I wanted to hold a grand wedding for them.

But they didn't appreciate my kindness at all.

I didn't expect

my son

to use a lawn

for their wedding.

And they invited Mr. Kang

to be their host and wedding witness.

Look at him.

He's wearing a casual outfit

instead of a suit today.

I'm utterly embarrassed.

That's right.

Dear fathers,

what do you think of these two sets of clothes?

They look vibrant.

So handsome!

Please.

Thank you.

Mr. Kang, were you looking for me?

Mr. Zhou,

you're

Kang Fei's boyfriend, right?

No, Mr. Kang.

We...

Here's the thing.

I need you

to do me a favor.

Mr. Kang, please go ahead.

This is

my life savings.

There's a total of 750,000 yuan.

Here is

my will.

Everything is

stated clearly.

I have a house

and shares of Runshi under my name.

When I die,

Kang Fei will inherit them.

Mr. Kang, this...

Why don't you contact her

or call her yourself?

Here's the thing.

I've contacted her.

But she didn't want to see me.

Her birthday

is next month.

I've never done my duties

as her father for so many years.

Consider these

as my compensation to her.

So...

Wait, Mr. Kang.

I'm begging you as a father here.

Please help me out.

This letter is important, too.

Please give these things to her

personally

after Wei Lan's wedding.

Please.

Mr. Kang.

I promise you.

I promise you.

Xingxing?

I visited Gao Song in prison.

He isn't Mr. Hypnotist.

(If Hong Xingxing's hunch was correct,)

(and if Wonder Group chose to act today,)

(we would proceed with our plan.)

(I must make him pay)

(if anyone dares to ruin my perfect wedding.)

Why is Mr. Kang not here?

The wedding will start soon.

Why isn't he here yet?

I couldn't reach him either.

Mr. Wei Senior said he didn't see Mr. Kang today.

He's always a serious person.

What's wrong with him today?

Oh no.

Did anything wrong happen to him?

Feifei.

Mr. Kang told me

to give this letter to you during Wei Lan's wedding.

I'm afraid I'll forget about it when I get busy later.

Hold this first.

You guys continue with the wedding.

The wedding witness is actually absent?

Where can I find a replacement?

We must find someone close to the bride and groom

and who's most important to the groom.

What should I do?

I have to do it.

(Kang Fei,)

(my daughter,)

(I know you are unwilling to acknowledge me.)

(However,)

(this will be my last time calling you that.)

(The first three decades of my life were a failure.)

(I failed my love, career,)

(and kinship.)

(In the end, I lost everything.)

(My old peer, Wei Baofeng, took me in.)

(I should've been grateful.)

(But as time went by,)

(I saw him)

(doing well in his business)

(while I could only)

(be his servant and do his bidding)

(without achieving anything.)

(I started to get jealous of him.)

(And, it gradually)

(turned into hatred.)

(I kept all of my emotions to myself.)

(Until one day,)

(a chance to ruin him)

(knocked on my door.)

Kang Zhengdao.

Kang,

you've been the watchdog of the Wei Family

all your life.

You and your ex-wife had a daughter.

What are you trying to do?

Yes.

You raised the son of the Wei Family.

Now he's standing at the peak of power,

becoming a billionaire.

But what about your daughter?

She has worked hard

her entire life

to make a living.

But she could only lead the same life

and work for the Wei Family as you.

Don't you want

to leave something behind for her?

(I have both money)

(and power now.)

(However, I realized)

(that I did not)

(want those things.)

(The USB drive)

(contains the evidence of my crimes I've collected.)

(Please hand it to the cops.)

(As for the money,)

(think of it as the last compensation)

(you'll ever receive from a failed father.)

(Last words written before Kang Zhengdao's death.)

Xingxing, Kang Fei is online.

She has something to tell you.

Xingxing,

my father left a letter and a USB drive for me.

In the letter, he stated

that he had done illegal dealings for Wonder Group.

And the USB drive contains

evidence of Wonder Group's crimes.

I've already handed it to the cops.

Alright, I got it.

Let's keep in touch.

Kang Fei said

the USB drive contains evidence of Wonder Group's crimes.

Also,

Mr. Kang wrote down a confession.

I don't know if my speculation is correct,

but I must tell you this.

Mr. Kang is the true Mr. Hypnotist.

Impossible.

How is that possible?

Mr. Kang's reaction made me doubt him

when we mentioned Mr. Hypnotist in front of him.

the rhythm of the beat

was made using the fingering of a keyboard playing a lullaby.

And Gao Song said

Mr. Hypnotist played this rhythm when he tried to contact

you wouldn't believe he would harm you.

Mr. Kang is Mr. Hypnotist.
