(All the best at work.)

Hello?

Hello, Xingxing.

Aren't you at the office?

I didn't see you all morning.

I'm at home.

Are you sick?

What should we do?

Things are chaotic at the office

without the boss.

It troubles me

to see so many things happening at the company.

Is Wei Lan not there?

He's packing up his things at home.

He'll be away for some time to find out the truth.

(Mr. Wei, must you go?)

(Yes.)

(I must get to the bottom of this.)

(I'll keep all of you posted.)

(But to go there, you need to...)

(I made the arrangement beforehand.)

(So don't worry.)

[Passport]

(Xingxing,)

(I'm leaving now.)

(Would you appear in front of me)

(at the last moment like how you did before?)

You decided to come.

The company is a mess,

and everyone is panicking.

You shouldn't leave.

I must go to find out the truth.

Even if you go,

can you get to the bottom of it all by yourself?

Maybe not.

But I don't want to sit by and do nothing.

You taught me all this.

From the first day I met you,

you've never been afraid.

No matter how difficult the road ahead is,

you'll do all you can to get

whatever you want to do done.

You're a cool person.

Everything you do looks cool

and you also look cool when you're dating me.

Even when you're sad, you look cool too.

Who says I'm sad?

Anyway,

I'm happy that you came.

As your personal assistant,

it's my duty.

I'll get going then.

Are you serious?

Wei Lan left?

Yes, it's true.

An old friend of mine is working at the airport.

I've confirmed with him multiple times

that Mr. Wei

took a flight to go abroad this morning.

I didn't even push him to the curb.

He could have hired a PR firm to take care of this matter.

Yet he flew out there in person.

He must be out of his mind.

The accountants from Factory No. 29 are being watched.

Tell them to be careful.

Pay them to keep their mouth shut.

Everything has been taken care of, so don't worry.

Mr. Zhou.

Mr. Kang?

What are you doing here?

The Chairman fell ill as soon as he saw

the news yesterday.

So he sent me to find out the situation here.

Where's Wei Lan?

Mr. Kang,

Wei Lan

has gone abroad to investigate this matter.

Why didn't you talk him out of it?

I did.

But Mr. Kang,

you watched Wei Lan grow up.

Do you think he'd listen to me?

If anything happens to Wei Lan,

I don't know how to explain it to the Chairman.

He'll be safe, Mr. Kang.

We have people overseas too.

Besides, Wei Lan is a smart guy.

So don't worry.

Mr. Kang?

Mr. Kang.

That's the manager from Kaibeili Pharmaceutical, Ms. Kang.

Do you know her?

By the way,

how's the progress of Project QW1?

Is it doing better

after cooperating with Kaibeili Pharmaceutical?

Now we've entered

the final stage of animal testing.

The guys from Kaibeili Pharmaceutical

are very capable.

They helped a lot in our progress after they came.

Those from Kaibeili Pharmaceutical

are not bad.

That's good.

Liu,

these parameters are incorrect.

Can you correct it?

Anything bothering you?

You look distracted all afternoon.

This is unlike you.

Sorry.

Is something troubling you lately?

Can I do anything to help?

How about

we have dinner tonight?

What do you think?

No, thanks.

I need to work overtime tonight.

Excuse me, miss.

Here's your drink.

Do you know how to mix alcoholic drinks?

Try it.

What do you think?

Not bad.

You're very talented.

The mixing ratio of the base liquor

and fruit juice,

as well as the thickness of the egg white,

are just right.

Well, this isn't an ordinary pair of hands.

It's a pair of magical hands

that could come up with countless

complex biological experimental reagents.

So mixing liquor

is a piece of cake.

Why did you specially prepare this?

I want to be your bartender

and send your troubles away.

Also,

be your listener.

Well, you're pretty eloquent.

Since you've enjoyed your drinks,

can you share

Kang Zhengdao,

whom you address as Mr. Kang,

is my birth father.

Didn't he tell you?

No.

He never changes.

It has been 16 years

since my parents divorced.

He never told anyone

he had a daughter.

I'm not close with Mr. Kang.

All I know

he has been the Wei family's butler for many years.

Many years?

What kind of impression does he give you?

Someone with a mild temper

and never loses his temper?

That's how he treats others.

I was a kid

when he just started his business.

He declared he would surpass his old classmate.

As expected, it was a terrible loss in the end.

An incompetent person

can never accept his incompetence.

Do you think it's outrageous for me to say this?

You have your reasons.

He was debt-laden,

so he fled out of town from fear.

My mother had to sell all of her jewelry

and wake up early to work, so we could pay off the debts.

Every time I reached home after school,

I could see creditors asking for money at the door.

After that, I heard

he was promoted to a high position

and became an assistant to the chairman of Runshi Group.

After cooperating with Runshi, I wondered

when we'd run into each other.

But I didn't expect to be this soon.

After listening to my story,

you should forget about it,

my competent bartender.

Xingxing,

there you are.

I've made Chinese yam congee with dates that will warm you up.

It's fresh from the pot.

Dad, I'm going to bed.

Wash your hands

and get a bowl of congee yourself.

Quick.

Xingxing.

The date's skin in the congee

can cause stomach problems.

So when you eat it,

remember to spit out the skin.

Dad.

Xingxing,

I had been

serving in the army

for so many years.

You know how it is in the army.

Things are less complicated.

There are times I may have said

something wrong.

But

I'd spent

many years with your mom, after all.

Also,

I'm a lot older than you are.

So,

I understand more about life.

Am I right?

Dad,

just cut to the chase.

Take this congee, for instance.

The date's skin

is prickly.

You'll have a stomach ache if you take too much.

But

you can't stop eating congee because of that.

How tasty the congee is.

It's warm and thick.

Dad,

I get what you're trying to say.

But I'm not only upset

that he lied to me.

Also,

it was my fault

for implicating you in this matter.

So,

I don't know how I can forgive him.

Hong Xingxing!

Yes, sir.

You kept saying you've implicated me.

I've told you countless times

it wasn't your fault.

If it were any other comrades,

I would still rush to rescue them in that situation.

I fought for honor.

You kept saying

it was your fault.

What do you mean by that?

Are you depriving me

of the honor of a veteran war hero?

You've been stubborn since you were a child.

You

can't tolerate sand in your eyes. (*can't tolerate mistakes or imperfections)

But don't you know the intrusion of sand

in clam shells

can produce pearls?

When we come across mistakes,

we need to find a way to deal with them.

If we handle them well,

they will no longer be a bad thing.

Dad,

are you saying

it was right for Wei Lan to lie to me?

Of course lying is bad.

He lied to you.

So I'm going to break all his teeth.

But that's for me to deal with.

But you can't give up

on him.

Guess what, Feifei?

it's competing against 250 million sperms.

I mean,

each ejaculation produces 250 million sperms.

What I'm trying to say

These fertilized eggs can produce thousands

of different people.

Each person will have a huge difference.

It's possible

you think of Mr. Kang as someone like that.

He brought you a lot of pain,

which made you think men aren't reliable.

But I'm such a person.

What kind of person?

I'm exactly how you see me.

I want you to know

that every word I say to you,

everything I do for you,

and my manners towards you are just to make you...

Just to make you happy.

I like to see you smile.

I think you look pretty when you smile.
