this is going to be a hot take.

I don't mean that B.S.

when people say
it's going to be a hot take.

They just spout something
that everybody agrees with.

You don't deserve your rank.

You heard me.

Maybe that applies to me, too.

Cue some sort of intro.

I'm here to talk about stacking in ranked
and how it's probably holding you

back.

My personal opinion

is that you don't deserve your rank
if you are unable to solo queue to said rank.

I'm not saying you technically
have to show a Q to that rank,

but if you get to a certain rank
and you're like: "Wow, I know

that I would not be able to solo queue
to my current position"...

you might not deserve it.

Let's say you're playing Apex
and you form a three stack.

You all coordinate and communicate
well and you end up climbing the ranks

pretty quickly.

I think it's easy
to start thinking at that point.

"Wow, we must be really good at this game.

We're climbing the ranks faster
than anybody else."

But here's the thing.

If you can't solo queue
and reach that similar rank,

then the rank you got
when you three stacked, isn't necessarily

a fair assessment of your individual
skill level.

Yes, Having a team of three people
can definitely give you an advantage.

Of course it can.

But does that mean you're a better player
on your own?

Obviously, this isn't just limited
to three stacking in apex.

The same goes for stacking in Valorant.

It's a little harder
for me to say about overwatch.

I know five stacking
isn't really a big thing.

I was going to reach out
to an Overwatch coach,

but I got shy and I chickened out.

Now I know what you might be thinking, "but
what about those pros who play in teams?"

while pro players are definitely super
skilled at the game...

You got to recognize that they're able
to play the game for like 10 hours a day

every single day, which is something
you probably do not have.

Play with a team, lets you make mistakes
that if you were solo queueing with randoms,

those mistakes would cost you the game.

A lot of them are micro mistakes.

That butterfly...

into something crazy
When you're playing with the team,

you have a luxury of being able
to rely on your teammates

to cover for you when you screw up.

In solo queue,

the chance that there's someone
to catch you if you slip... are very low.

Now, if you solo queue a bunch
to iron out those mistakes,

can you imagine
how much of a better player

you would be when you stacked again?
so that you could focus on teamwork?

Like I said earlier,

a lot of people are going to get stuck in
ranks like Diamond or Masters in Apex

or even hit a certain rank
and then don't try to climb any higher

because they know they can't.

Yet these players will still
label themselves as "masters" players

or "immortal" players
when they can't gain at all.

I think that minimum requirement

is that you need to be able to solo
queue the previous rank.

So if you want to label yourself
a masters player,

you need to be able to solo
queue through Diamond.

Or if you want to label yourself
an immortal player,

then you need to be able to solo queue
through...what is it? ascendent.

And obviously the same thing
applies for lower ranks.

If you want to say you're a plat player,

you should have the capability
to solo queue through gold.

I'm not even saying you have to,

but you at least need to know
you're able to do so.

If you're unable to solo queue
through that previous rank,

I don't think you're going to be able
to gain

in the rank that you're in,
unless you're carried or something.

I think this changes, though,
when it comes to like predator rank. Solo

queueing against pre-made pred or pro
three stacks is just not possible.

And everybody in Apex is always like: "Oh,
I'm getting queued up against three stacked

predators when I'm in plat. No you're not.

I solo queued in diamond
every single day in November

and I probably only came up
against a pred 3 stack

or was in a master's lobby,

maybe like five times
out of the entire month of November.

If you had a server that's like as barren
as the Sahara Desert.

Fair. Understandable. Have a nice day.

It is definitely very possible
for a three stack of individually skilled

diamond players to reach masters,

but does that mean
they're each masters players?

And do you think that three

individually skilled
diamond players can gain in masters?

and the same logic for valorant,
of course. Five Stack Warriors, whatever.

And then it all just comes back to
even if you hit Masters but aren't

individually a master skilled player,
do you really deserve that rank?

If you hit immortal, you aren't
individually an immortal skilled player.

Do you really deserve that rank?

Do you deserve to label yourself as such?

Now, I'm not saying never play with a team

and I'm not saying only three
stacking stops improvement,

but I am saying that stacking
is more likely to make you

complacent in your skills while picking up
your teammates and each other slack.

Right?

If you are stuck while three stacking,
it's time I think, to take a look

back on the individual
that maybe you as an individual

need to grow
before your team can keep going.

If you're just playing for fun

and don't really care about improvement,
perfectly valid,

there is absolutely nothing
wrong with that.

But if you do care, then maybe
you should think about what I've said.

And maybe solo queue

every once

in a while to gauge what your skill level
actually is as an individual player.
