Original subtitles

I am Paul T. Goldman.

I'm a regular guy.

No.

I experience, every moment, a peace

that goes beyond understanding,

beyond the mind.

Ah. It's just-

it's pretty cool. Yeah.

There's no fear thoughts, anger thoughts,

anxiety thoughts,

none of that crap.

Well, well.

Paul T. Goldman.

I've heard so much about you from Dan.

Now, you've made some interesting discoveries

about your ex-wife.

It's an honor to meet you, Mr. President.

Please.

Call me Barack.

Paul: "Yes, sir."

Obama: "All right, Paul.

Thanks for listening. See you in a little bit."

During the series, we're gonna also shoot scenes

from "The Paul T. Goldman Chronicles"

that I've created.

So if the networks like them,

it will be more things to show them in the future.

Wow, Paul, you've been to hell and back,

but let me tell you, things are happening here.

The word is spreading.

We are getting the issue of sex trafficking

out into the world.

We have thousands of followers.

We're in step with celebrities as well, Paul.

Demi Moore,

Ashton Kutcher,

Ricky Martin, the big singer.

Paul, we've declared war

on sex trafficking.

I don't know how to thank you.

Hey, we're all doing this because of you.

Don't forget that.

You're a good man

up against unbelievable odds.

Royce's international operations

are the subject of "The Chronicles."

The girl you saved, Little Amy,

she told us Royce is back

in control of his European operations.

It is based on the trash of Royce...

I uncovered.

The fax from Albert Borelli to Royce

is proof he's a sex trafficker

working for this bogus Christian organization.

Who's behind that?

Is it the mob?

Is it the Vatican?

Right now, are you talking about

"The Chronicles" or real life?

I don't know.

I actually work in this world, helping girls.

You do? Yes.

And so I have-I-

I'm very involved with many women

who have been trafficked, are healing.

It's getting sicker and sicker.

They want children. Yeah.

And, um, and then when they're finished with them,

they traffic their organs.

Really? That's-yes.

That's just horrible.

What did Jason tell you about my books?

Paul's trip to Moscow is quite eventful.

His plane gets shot down

by a hitman hired to take Paul out,

so he shoots down the plane.

But Paul survives.

After the plane crash,

I find my way back to Moscow.

Will you take me to the Russian brides office?

Hi. Natasha?

What are you doing in Moscow?

Paul!

Paul finds out that the guy he's after-

some associate of Royce-

is Svetlana's boyfriend.

Paul, he's seeing Svetlana.

So he gets in touch with Svetlana.

I'd really like to see you, Svetlana.

Uh, listen, Paul,

I'm a model now.

Let's catch up tonight.

Do you remember the restaurant?

Of course.

In real life, I reached to hold her hand,

and she pulled her hand back.

What an idiot I was!

You know, I wanted to have things work out

with me and Svetlana.

So I wrote it that Svetlana and I,

we get back together.

In "The Chronicles,"

we can do something completely different.

Paul, you have impressed me.

You look amazing.

She's quite impressed with what Paul has become.

He's, of course, completely taken with her again.

You're a model now?

Paul tells her that her boyfriend could be

a sex trafficker.

Are you crazy?

Why would he do that?

He's a businessman.

Taxi! Taxi!

You bastard. You don't understand.

Did you see the plane crash in the news?

That was me on that plane. I'm an agent.

What do you want me to say?

That you're a spy and I will be your inside man?

Taxi!

My second marriage

was to a lying, deceitful con artist.

She set me on this path.

And you, with your incredible life that you have now,

I wouldn't blame you if you turned your head

and looked the other way like most people.

But you're not like most people, Sveta.

Don't let your sister's death go in vain.

Take a stand with me.

And cut! Cut, cut, good.

Cut!

That's not the end of Svetlana

in the big story.

Yeah. Yeah.

Once again, have something work out in fiction

that didn't work out in real life.

In the sequel to the true story...

Uh-huh?

I end up with Svetlana.

Oh, so that was fictional. Yes.

And in the true story, you ended up-

I'm still single.

Oh, okay.

It's not real, but I wrote it.

The end result is the same.

* What a wonderful feeling *

* I'm happy again *

Royce Rocco.

He had to be behind this.

All right. We're almost done.

Royce Rocco.

So tomorrow. Gerald. Showing clips.

What are we doing tomorrow?

Tomorrow,

we're going over to my father's house,

and we're gonna show him some clips of what we've filmed

and get his reaction

slash commentary slash criticism.

Hopefully not criticism.

Slash love.

Oh, wouldn't that be no-novel?

Don't print that.

What was your dad like when you were growing up?

Nah, you don't want the truth.

I do, I do. It's-it's-it's-it's-

it's uninteresting.

It's boring.

The truth? The truth is never boring.

The truth of one's relationship.

I mean, people's relationships with their parents are just-

I mean, they're all over the place.

Not everybody has the great relationship

that you would want with your parents, you know?

He was not the most showing of love.

He never did.

But that's him, you know? What can you say?

That's just not in his character.

How often does he tell you he loves you?

Oh, that would be, uh, never.

Yeah, you can't have everything in this life,

you know?

Some things, I guess, we're meant to just not have.

Do you think that shaped your personality at all?

No.

Well, maybe a little.

Paul was his own person.

He was in his own world.

He was much different than his brothers,

and there was no way of changing him either.

I set him up

in a wholesale insurance business.

He hated it.

And he went on- went out on his own

to do something different.

He's always moving from one spot to another,

from one side of the country to another,

from another project to another project.

And I said, "That's Paul."

Does your father tell you he loves you?

I'm sure he does.

Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah, and I tell Johnny all the time,

every time I talk to him.

Gerald?

Can't think of once.

October 9, 2000,

was the day my son, Johnny, was born.

Watching Johnny grow and learn,

seeing the world new and fresh through his eyes

was a wonderful experience,

but I came to understand

that to raise him in the best possible way,

Johnny would need a new mother.

For his emotional well-being, growing up,

I felt that he deserved to be in a family.

At the time, I don't really think

I-I had wishes or-or hopes

for him meeting a new mom.

I was rather content with- with just him.

Although, I do think his attention was a bit diverted.

We're going on a treasure hunt, Johnny.

You know, he may have, like, unusual ways

to-to go about it.

I don't believe it.

Human trafficking.

Uh, but he definitely cares about me.

I love you.

Oh, that's great.

Thank you. I love you too.

I didn't really even think it was unusual

to be writing stories

instead of perhaps working in-in some office.

Johnny's gonna audition for the part of Johnny Goldman.

Baby.

Is acting something you wanted to do?

No.

I wanted to plan for my education at the time,

and I knew that going to schools

where my mom was located

would be quite helpful.

So 12 1/2, he decides

he wants to go live with his mother.

Okay, so I couldn't fight it.

So he went down to live with her in San Diego.

Well, I bought all these things for him

and asked him if he wanted them.

I guess he's too old for these things now,

because he said no.

Okay, so...

I kept 'em. You know, why not?

He grew up a lot.

He's totally focused on business,

but that happiness

doesn't seem to be around anymore.

He's not unhappy.

And he used to be so cute.

He's become so serious.

Where are you right now?

Uh, I currently live in India.

I run a start-up here.

I'm quite happy.

So at present, we have the original series,

and we have "The Chronicles,"

and you know, way back when,

I also wanted to write something for-

that Johnny would star in, so I created

"The Johnny Goldman Chronicles."

Johnny's in India, so he couldn't do it.

So, um, you know...

Hi, Mrs. Adams. Hi, Johnny.

You know, Samantha got a B on her math quiz today.

I really appreciate you helping her.

It's my pleasure.

That's good news.

Yeah.

* There's only clouds *

* Times *

Hi, Sam.

Sam, what's the matter?

Nothing.

Sam, we're friends. You can tell me.

You can't tell anybody.

I promise.

Saturday night,

I went with Julio to a party,

and I got drunk.

I didn't know any of the boys there,

but they were wearing the same jackets as Julio,

The Pythons,

and I was drunk,

and I didn't realize what was happening.

Didn't realize what?

They...

All of them.

Oh, my God.

How about at the beginning,

whimpering,

growing into sobbing?

Okay. Yeah.

Sam, you need to go to the authorities.

You know that won't do any good.

That won't do any good.

Okay, cut. So good.

How's it look? Looking good?

Yeah, looking good. Good job.

They were wearing the same jackets as Julio,

The Pythons.

* Being bad just feels *

* So good *

Oh, the project is so cool.

Like, truthfully, everyone here on the set is so nice.

I talked to Paul for a while about, you know,

how his son was and how he was when he was my age.

I wrote more sequels

so that we could have, like, a whole universe...

Oh, that's so cool. Of Paul T. Goldman.

And Johnny, of course,

is-is part of that universe. Mm-hmm.

And action!

Now you know why Sam was killed.

They didn't want her to go to the cops.

I recognized the brand,

and I told the police.

They'll be paying Palmland High a visit,

but I don't know how far they'll get.

I want you to transfer me to Palmland.

I'll get the evidence they need.

What will your father say?

Oh, I think he'll understand.

I'm following in his footsteps.

And cut!

I have to read the book. I-I just ordered it.

You did? On Amazon, I did.

I did.

I'm gonna read it when I get home.

All right.

He's such a cool dude, really.

We got "The Chronicles."

We got "The Johnny Chronicles."

We got "The Dreamcatchers."

"The Dreamcatchers" begins in the year 2037,

15 years after today.

Paul ends up marrying Svetlana.

Anything interesting happen today at work?

The usual.

It's great if you don't remember what freedom was.

Well, I got that 2010 Mustang up and running today.

That was satisfying enough for me.

John Goldman, come out now.

I have a warrant from the national savior government

for your arrest and permanent detention.

Just a minute!

So here we are in "The Dreamcatchers,"

and it's still Paul, and it's still Svetlana,

and they're still married,

and there's still Johnny, of course.

Paul, the actual- the man himself,

who wrote this and birthed me, my-my character,

he, uh, he filled me in on a lot of details,

so I learned a lot about my character

in real time, on set.

So that's why I didn't have a prenup,

'cause at that time, everything I had was Florida.

Yeah.

Where was your son in all this?

The other theme that runs

through "The Dreamcatchers"

is the theme of family and the family unit.

Meet us at rendezvous delta.

If I'm not there, you leave.

To where? Anywhere.

Anywhere safe.

Despite the world going to pot

and being pretty much destroyed,

the family unit holds together.

Because I wanted a family.

And, uh, so I created one.

* I feel it coming *

I'm Shannon. Pleasure.

I'm a media trainer,

and I'd love to hear from you

how you would tell your story.

In the show, I say I married a madam

and a working prostituting ring as well.

You know, it's an interesting time

when we have, you know,

women's reproductive rights being taken away.

There is a lot of people that would say

that a woman has a right to do with her body what she likes.

I get it. So we have to be careful.

Be careful. Don't disparage hookers.

Look what we have here.

"Fast as you can.

Slam the man."

Some words are outdated, right?

And one of those words is, unfortunately,

a huge part of your story, which is-

Which is the word "hooker."

Yes. Right?

"Sex worker" is, you know,

a word that's kind of

more used in the zeitgeist.

It's just a rephrase. I get it.

* I feel it coming *

* Coming, coming *

I will bring down Audrey no matter what.

Oh, my God.

He's a doofus.

I don't know another word to describe it.

I was looking at him, his mannerisms,

and his desperation to get a family.

He's not somebody I'd take very seriously.

Mm-hmm. So treating him with humor

sort of validated my feelings about that.

He's, like, the most clueless,

non-charming, non-attractive,

not funny, no charisma- like, none whatsoever,

and then the most preposterous thing happens to this guy

and then, like, that- this event in his life

actually turned him into a, like, kind of, like,

a manly guy.

It kind of, like, thrusts him into this quest.

They get it!

* I feel it coming *

Whoa!

Guys, I'm looking at me up on the thing.

That's just amazing.

* Coming *

Um...

Yes?

No...

no...

How do you expect to get the truth

out of criminals?

And then they'll be on me.

What good is it?

What-what good purpose can be-

what good can come out of it?

Hell yeah.

Cadillac's the only name, really,

that most of my friends know me by,

but there was another name for me.

Rocco...

Royce Rocco?

Royce Rocco, I believe.

I never, uh, met Paul.

I knew of Paul.

I dated his wife at the time, Diana.

That is her real name.

That was put in my file that I called the real Diana.

Oops.

I mean, the real Audrey.

Whoever she was married to-

didn't make a difference to me.

I met her at a place called Too Bizarre

in Jupiter.

After that, we went out for five years.

It was always exciting.

It was five years of fun.

No.

No, it wasn't all fun.

But it was exciting.

I don't know. I don't know.

I never even worried about it.

Uh, what was fun was fun,

and when it wasn't fun,

I wasn't around.

She always wanted marriage.

It was very important to her.

I'd tell girls right up front

that marriage isn't in the cards for me.

She needed somebody to cling on.

So, uh,

I told her she should go get married

and keep me as a boyfriend or something.

She was probably on a dating site

and looking for a match.

I have no sympathy for Paul,

because I think he got, probably, what he deserved.

If you're gonna marry somebody

that you know for how many months?

How long were they going out?

He'd obviously made a mistake in his prior marriage.

He's probably gonna have the same track record as her

as far multiple marriages

and unhappy life.

Her emotions were focused on Royce, weren't they?

100%.

What was left for me?

This is our forever marriage, right?

I was wrong about that.

As it turns out,

Audrey's madly in love with her pimp.

Diana and I never had a prostitution ring.

I wasn't a pimp for her.

She was different.

She dated a lot of guys,

but I never dating for money.

All those accusations are ridiculous.

Uh, you know, I'm a boat guy.

That's what I do, and I'm very happy with it.

But it makes me sound exciting.

I have read Paul's book,

and it's a...

big fiction.

Diana sent me an email

at the time and told me about it.

She was upset about it,

and uh, you know,

told me that, "You might wanna read this book,

'cause you're in it."

There's so little truth-

just the people involved

and then 97% fantasy.

It's a fantasy land.

Everyone who doesn't need to be in the room

can go hang out in the bedroom.

Thanks.

How's that?

Pretty good.

We went to talk to Cadillac.

Yeah. How does that make you feel?

We're not joking. What-I can-

Tell us how it makes you feel.

You know,

if somebody wants to kill you,

you can't stop them.

You can't.

You have a legitimate fear

that they're gonna come kill you because-

Somebody that has $20 million, $30 million,

$40 million

can afford to spend 50 grand on a hitman.

Is it okay if I show you something?

Oh, if you're gonna show me him,

I don't wanna see him.

I really don't.

You won't look at it?

I don't wanna look at him.

Just tell me what he said.

If you know he's lying,

you have nothing to be afraid of.

Bring it on.

Okay, just, um, watch this one.

I do know about her meeting

with a girl in Sandsprit Park,

and it was because of me.

My private eye followed Audrey Munson to this park.

When she got to the park, she was joined

by two of her girls.

The next 2 1/2 hours,

they were doing their paperwork.

This is not a little prostitution ring.

We were there having a picnic lunch one day.

I liked to go there 'cause it's on the water,

and I saw a girl with her dad, who had dementia.

She was having trouble with him.

I said, "Why don't you go help her out?"

And that was a connection. They became friends.

And if she was at Sandsprit Park

with two other females,

I would guarantee you it's the girl whose father

had dementia that she was helping out.

Wow.

Out of the blue,

they started praying to Jesus.

We thank You for the gifts of men and money

that you have bestowed upon us.

Hookers praying to Jesus

for more tricks.

She was kind of a churchy girl.

I would definitely understand

Diana praying with this girl if the girl asked her.

She'd do that. She didn't have many friends.

So it was nice that she had somebody to see.

That's complete and utter bullshit.

It's a nice story.

Do you think he was lying?

Yeah, I think he was lying.

You don't believe there's any chance

that this was not a meeting of sex workers?

I don't buy it.

I think it was exactly what it looked like.

But why couldn't that be anything

besides doing the bookkeeping for a prostitution ring?

Because it's Audrey.

That's why.

That's what she does.

She's the madam of the group.

From the phone logs,

it's clear that Audrey was running

a huge business-

calls to hundreds and hundreds of men,

calls to hotels,

calls to the ten girls that worked for her,

calls to an outside voice mailbox

with the Miami Exchange.

Very strange.

Diana was a very jealous person.

She would call anybody-

guys, friends of mine,

yelling at 'em at 2:00, 3:00 in the morning.

She'd just fly off the handle,

and she was obsessed with me for a long time.

As far as other girls, I don't know.

I don't know who her friends were.

I wouldn't even remember that.

Oh, even I can tell the guy is full of shit.

That's on the record from the phone logs.

You couldn't justify that many calls to men

and that many calls to an answering service.

She had secret addresses,

and she had a whole secret life.

You couldn't justify that.

Let's look at the facts

and the evidence that I collected

in Cadillac's trash.

Let's look at the reports.

She ended up at this nightclub behind me.

At one point, we heard the gentleman

who we were told was her pimp

speaking with one of the gentleman.

With my private eye, Joyce Foster,

standing three feet away, somebody comes up to Royce

and says, "How much is she?"

And he says... Uh, you offer her $250

and see if she'll take it.

And the guy goes over to her,

and they talk, and then they leave.

"Is that a prostitute?" Come on.

I've never heard of this place

nor does it sound like the kind of place I'd go to.

I don't know. I certainly wasn't offering up

my girlfriend at the time to other guys.

That's complete full of shit.

Paul is not crazy.

We're positive he was Cadillac,

because we had seen Cadillac before.

We had done a prior surveillance

where she met up with Cadillac.

We knew it was Cadillac, because we ran his tag.

So it was Cadillac.

No.

It's the fact that

she didn't let me make the decision

as to whether I was okay with her doing that,

because she didn't want to have a relationship with me

to begin with.

I've interviewed over 30,000 people in my career.

Diane was very unique.

I'm Jeffrey D'Amore.

I'm a divorce attorney.

I represented the first, second, and fourth husbands.

Mr. Finkelman was the third former husband.

These were in really quick progression,

one after another after another.

She'd find somebody who was vulnerable,

who was usually married or recently divorced

and be everything they think they want.

Finding the people who are not 100%

and preying on them

and marry them and obviously get them

to turn over all their property,

which she tried to do

with husband number two and Paul.

Just doing it so frequently with so many husbands,

and every single guy that she was with

in between all these cases-

I don't know how she found the time.

She shopped for men in churches,

educational environments that she worked in.

When you looked at the records,

you're talking maybe 100 men.

Living with this person for two weeks,

living with that person for three months

and taking whatever she could on the way out the door.

On the subject of whether she was a prostitute or not,

I don't define her as a prostitute.

She would ask them to write checks out

to these acronyms that she had,

and I'm sure that they felt more comfortable

contributing to a health insurance plan

than they did saying, "Here's $500.

Have a nice day, and thank you very much for the afternoon."

Does she put herself out there

for financial gain?

Yes.

I don't think she's on Craigslist, turning tricks.

At the end of the day,

she was receiving income for intimacy.

The impression we got was

that Cadillac was offering her for money.

Now, Paul thought that Cadillac was her pimp.

But I spoke with Cadillac,

and Cadillac was just a playboy,

that he loved the sex.

And then we're in South Florida

where swinger groups is pretty popular.

I never saw any evidence, personally,

that she was running a prostitution ring.

I don't really subscribe

to the whole "She was a madam" theory,

only because I don't think she had any time.

She is driving kids back and forth to school.

She is avoiding all the husbands.

I don't think she was running an escort service.

I define her as a very unusual female

that took advantage of people

just to get by.

Now, Paul went overboard,

but he was guppy compared to her.

She was a shark.

She does her best moves

on weak-hearted people.

Paul became obsessed with whether or not

she was a prostitute or not.

But life is complex.

You know, it's hard to say.

It was more simple to say she's a prostitute

than it was to face reality.

She's not just this, like, stumbling-through.

She's exit-strategy.

And you're just part of the-

one of the, you know, pins

in her bowling game-

to the next pin.

So she's gonna do everything by the book.

It worked before.

She's gonna do it just like with Bob.

And yet, she's completely demented.

Right now, police on Singer Island

are investigating the deaths of two people

found inside their condo.

Detectives are trying to figure out if this case

is a murder-suicide

of Richard and Carmen...

Police say they found them during a welfare check

in the condos here at the Cote d'Azure.

My naivete, I didn't know what a welfare check was

until I was already halfway

taking the cop up to check on 'em,

and I think they drummed it up pretty quickly

that it was a murder-suicide.

That was pretty much,

for lack of a better term, cut and dry.

Case closed.

Murder-suicide.

Do I think she killed her parents

and made it look like a murder-suicide?

Absolutely.

Not a doubt in my mind that she did it.

Not a doubt in my mind.

Oh, my God.

A lot of those things I got from Terri Jay

and her reading and her tuning into Audrey,

reading her mind

or subconscious or whatever. Yeah.

Do you see exactly

how she killed her parents?

It feels like a gun to me,

but I don't wanna...

I mean, you could see it, you know?

"Daddy, you know, there's so much crime.

Shouldn't you get a gun for- for you to protect Mommy?"

And then, you know, "Daddy, where do you keep that gun?"

You know, then she goes,

finds it at 4:00 in the morning,

and she shoots 'em.

Yeah. Yeah.

My read on it is that she killed her parents

because they were gonna cut her out of the will.

He was cutting his kids out of his will.

Plus possibly life insurance.

I'm talking to you about insurance.

Well, from an investigative standpoint,

something that Paul is not trained in,

you look at the forensic evidence.

Based on what the evidence was,

they concluded it was a murder-suicide.

I'm on the board of directors over there.

I was a security director for a while.

There's no way to get in there

without being spotted on the camera.

That's how we had it set up initially.

Some people in our circle said that Carmen was sick

and that she had cancer

and the type of people we thought they were,

maybe they just didn't wanna have to go through that misery

of-of what cancer does in the long run.

We kind of left it at that,

and that was the general consensus.

Oh, God, I'm just getting it. Ugh.

She actually drugged what they were drinking

till they were both passed out

and then put the gun in one hand

and put the gun in her father's hand first

and made it like he pulled the trigger

on her mother and then turned it on himself.

That's what happened.

But she drugged them first.

Wow.

Do you feel like you were ever manipulated by Terri Jay?

No, I do not feel I was ever manipulated by Terri Jay,

absolutely not.

The Court finds him to be naive and gullible.

It's really fun.

It's-sometimes, it's pretty fun to be me.

One thing that I learned about Paul

in the middle of the investigation

was he was receiving directive from a psychic.

And it just-it just got to be too much.

He started expecting us to do things

that were slightly not legal.

Diana claimed that she was getting

password reset requests and that you were trying

to get into her emails.

Yeah, I wanted more evidence.

In the book, how do you say you got to her emails?

I asked Terri Jay, "What's her password?"

Try "mosquito."

Nope.

Spiders, ants...

Tarantula.

Nope. Centipede.

Nope.

Nope.

How did you finally get in?

I guessed her password.

'Cause I'm intuitive.

I guessed her password.

What was it?

Bugs.

Paul became very erratic.

We presented video documentation

of her doing normal things, like going to the bank.

"Oh, she's depositing her hooker money."

She would go to a office building.

"Oh, she's meeting a client."

You can see him misinterpreting the evidence.

He's in a circle.

I thought it might be good to change.

I'm the one that decided to sever our relationship.

Was there a PI after her or no?

What's your impression of the other PI Paul hired?

He's a sleazebag.

SO at one point, he hired a private investigator.

I happen to know who the private investigator was.

I never respected him then.

I don't respect him now.

He kept his office at a steak house.

And I think it's, like, a topless steak joint.

When I met... the day of the trial,

he came up to me and he said,

"I can't believe you got rid of that cash cow."

That was our only conversation.

Unfortunately for me and my wallet...

Private eyes don't solve the case in an hour

like on TV.

He took a lot of money

and told him what he wanted to hear-

approximately $30,000.

Well, that's just more money she cost me, isn't it?

He followed the subject to a private residence

and was filming her through the bedroom window.

Correct. There's a fine line

between doing it for legal reasons

and invading the privacy of another person.

She came and accused you of stalking her

after the divorce a lot. That's nice.

A lot. No, okay, good, fine.

Whatever. She kept filing

these motions. Yeah, well, she's deranged.

She's sick.

Okay, here's one.

Read this.

Oh, no.

Why not?

I'll tell you over there.

I mean, I made damn sure

this couldn't be traced back to me.

I typed it on a typewriter, manually,

and then I threw the typewriter away

so they couldn't do the keys-

match the keys to the typewriter.

I took a lot of effort into this.

What is that?

Don't ever accuse me of not being creative.

I wanted to bring Audrey's double life to light

to her parents who had been giving her money for years

while I believe Audrey was making

hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.

So I wrote this letter in the-

but I didn't wanna send 'em from me,

because I didn't even think they would open anything

that-me, it was sent.

So I sent it-I-I-

from the phone logs, the names are all here

and Cass was-you know, one of the emails

that she's jealous of Cass and all that

with Cadillac and this and that.

Cassandra has no involvement in the story

except that she was an old girlfriend.

This is just more of Paul's lies.

Was this an effort to protect her family from her

or was it an effort to further humiliate her

after your divorce trial?

Well, of course, there has to be a little bit

of personal stuff in there.

You have this done to you,

you'll have a little bit

of personal stake in the matter.

Do you think you may have gone too far?

Yeah.

Hello there. My name is Caesar.

I'm a black and white beagle

and was adopted by the Goldman family

when I was a puppy.

I'm not sure if my name

is spelled C-E-E-Z-E-R.

But it sounds right to me.

"Darling Street Detectives"

is a spin-off that I created

that takes place right after Paul has gone off

to fight Royce's international sex-trafficking operation.

Johnny started a detective club

at the school,

and we're gonna start one here too.

What's a detective club?

When something happens that no one can explain,

they bring in a detective to figure it out.

both: Sounds like fun.

Let's go in the backyard

to get some clothes!

Why is fighting sex-trafficking

important to you?

In real life...

And this is what happened-

I discovered evidence

of international sex-trafficking

when I went through Royce Rocco's trash.

It's trash day.

That's where Paul got my trash, right there.

It's unbelievable

that he can bend the truth so much.

When I found that photo

of the young Asian girl in Royce Rocco's trash,

I started reading everything I could find

about global child sex-trafficking.

I found a crinkled-up fax,

and I noticed at the top, there's an email address.

I put this email address into Google Search,

and up came...

Welcome to our humble business, gentlemen.

I'm Albert Borelli.

I'm Albert Borelli. I'm Albert Borelli.

These are dime a dozen kids,

you know, straight off the streets of Peking,

New Delhi, the Philippines.

They don't have much in the way of skills,

but they do satisfy a particular niche

for our clients.

I don't know, did you wanna try more jovial?

Sure. I wish you could've come

on a day when we had a delivery.

Oh, it is a sight.

But the smell, it is almost,

almost enough to make you lose your appetite

for these delicacies.

I just said a lot of things.

Phew! You did.

What you said was 100%,

accurate real life.

So is Albert Borelli an actual person?

Hi, my name's Anthony Zwiener.

Uh, my friends call me and know me

as Tony, Tony Z.

The character that he's given me is called

Albert Borelli in the book.

So that's me, guys.

I was living in Cadillac's house,

and I used to be responsible, taking trash out.

About 15 years ago, 2007,

I went to India.

I didn't have any connections to India at all

except to an online church.

I am ordained through a small local church

called Family Worship Center.

Been a part of it since 2001.

They're a mission-minded church.

Very much love the mission work.

I love the adventure.

Having returned from India,

I stopped at China.

I stopped at Singapore for three days.

So I had some documents and papers and things.

After a period of time, I was going through my papers.

I didn't need all this anymore,

so I threw it away.

I'm the one that carried the trash out, not Cadillac.

He wasn't even on-site at the time.

I had no idea somebody was going through the trash.

I think he was looking for evidence against Cadillac,

but he went through my trash.

He was doing the espionage thing.

Anyway, he found where I had thrown away

my flight stubs, my itinerary.

I had some receipts there.

Oh, all right.

When's he gonna talk about the sex-trafficking?

He's-what's the word?

Talking about other things?

Well, he's saying it had nothing to do

with sex-trafficking.

He's talking about India.

He's not talking about this

one particular girl from Singapore, is he?

Watch it.

So this photo that he has...

Ah! Out of my trash

is actually of an Indian girl in the city Chennai,

and she is- this is an orphanage

where she is part of.

Through that, I met a pastor in India

whose name was Jacob Chacko.

He told me that he had adopted

17 children from the tsunami.

They were scarred, uh, mentally and physically.

Arms broken, bent.

Uh, these were children in trouble.

Somewhere I have several hundred photos

documenting different people,

so this is not unusual at all.

But it's not anything to do with trafficking.

That girl's still there.

So that's interesting.

That girl's still there.

Is he saying

that she never got on that plane?

You have to watch the rest.

He goes through all of the pieces.

Just watch it.

Okay, um,

yeah, tell us what's- what this is.

This is a copy of the receipt from Singapore.

I had a little Singaporean money left over,

so I wanted to spend it.

So I bought a gift for my wife of 39 years now.

And if she knew anything about trafficking girls,

I wouldn't be...

So, um, but this was a receipt...

Ah. A receipt of some

shea butter, I believe it was.

Body butter that I bought for her

because she likes shea butter, so...

not anything to entice a young lady to come with me.

He's mistaken there.

Um, what are your thoughts

watching that stuff? Interesting.

He didn't, uh- the one thing he didn't

have any explanation for

was, uh, her-her plane ticket.

Uh, I think he on-there was only one plane ticket.

It was-it was two flights 'cause it was connecting.

We'll have to look at that.

I'm-I-

What do you think of what he says

about the missionary work?

Uh, he's very polished.

I'll give him that.

And I won't say 100%

that he's wrong,

that he's lying he ass off,

Do you think he's polished or do you think

there's a chance he's telling the truth?

There's a chance he's telling the truth.

I will give him that.

But we'll have to check on that other plane ticket.

I will just say, meeting him,

I did not think he was playing us.

I did not think he was lying to us.

Are you absolutely convinced

that it was a- a mistake on my part?

I-after meeting him,

I am of the belief that that part of the story,

uh, didn't-is not how you- how you believed it was.

Wow. Well...

We'll have to take him out of the book.

So what would that change?

That's the whole premise of "The Chronicles."

That sucks.

What would you say are consequences

of accusing potentially innocent people

of criminal acts?

Well, we didn't name his name

so it-it-it's not gonna hurt him personally

in any way, shape, or form.

He took a photo of me

in a-in an agency that assists homeless people here.

And this guy got ahold of that photo,

put in Twitter that this is the monster.

This monster needs to be in prison.

It was upsetting to me

because he took something that was special to me

and perverted it.

There's no other way of saying it.

He perverted it.

He took, uh, something of value to me.

If what he is saying is true

and the evidence that I collected

did not lead to what I interpreted it to be-

to lead to,

then that is on me.

And I would be very happy to make amends

to, uh, Mr. Zweiner

and, uh, apologize to him on camera.

Uh...whenever.

Mr. Zweiner,

the evidence that I collected

led me to one conclusion.

It's now become clear that that collusi-that-

it's now become clear that that conclusion

may have been false.

And if so, I sincerely apologize for that

and will make amends in, uh-in the book.

And it pisses me off. Why?

Because I-I want to be thought of

as having complete integrity

and being- being right all the time.

So I'm upset. I'm upset.

It bothers me

that I may have been wrong on these things.

It makes me sad.

Has he told you about his son, Jonathan?

Yes. Of course.

I'm so impressed.

It's unb-it's unbelievable.

Yes.

Yeah, starting his own business at 21.

He's smarter than you are.

For a lot of years,

you were just doing nothing really.

You'd do this then you'd do that,

then you'd do this, then you'd do that.

Trying all sorts of stuff. Yep.

Never settled down.

Paul, you know what? You can hold it

and show it to him there. When you hit the space bar,

it should play.

So you can just aim it at him

and-and then you can just show him

kind of what, uh... How's that? Good?

Can you see it? I can see it.

We're fighting the bad guys, I think.

Yes.

Meet us at rendezvous delta. We're not there.

You realize, of course,

I wrote every word of this.

Hmm? I know.

That was me on that plane.

I'm an agent.

What do you want me to say?

That you're a spy and I will be

your inside man?

Oh, I think he'll understand.

I'm following in his footsteps.

And I think that's probably it.

That's it, huh?

That was very interesting.

What was it like watching that?

As a father or as a-

as a father, I was very impressed.

Are you proud of Paul?

Yeah. Do you love Paul?

Of course.

Paul? Very nice, Jason.

So the scenes are incredible.

Of course. Of course.

He's my dad.

He can't get rid of me.

So...scenes.

They shot scenes from four sequels

and the main story.

That's why everything was so different.

Yeah. I mean, there was not- there was no sequence.

Nope. It was just all over the place.

And-but each one-

each one of those can be a series itself.

I could be a busy person

in the next few years. Yeah, I can see that.

Yes.

This-this is a nice look here.

I think we'll go with the maroon.

Tonight, you are finally for the first time

gonna see what the show is.

That's right.

There's gonna be parts

that you maybe aren't crazy about.

There's gonna be parts you might be wondering

why I put it in there.

Oh, wow.

All right, here we go.

You look great.

I know, it's...

Don't you think they should have said

"the wrong guy"?

I mean, unless they're, like, making fun of you.

Oh, shit. Here we go.

Whoo. Whoo!

Is this for real?

Did this stuff actually happen?

I couldn't make this up.

You know, that's a common reaction.

Paul, our family will be broken

like so many others.

The events are true.

But not all. But not all of them.

97%.

Hacking is illegal.

On the other hand, perhaps it's a gray area

because I was her husband at the time.

This was not the original show that I envisioned

based on my book.

Are you upset?

No. Not at all.

And so you're okay with it?

I'm okay with it.

Because...

It's just amazing to see your life up on the screen.

Even if it's not flattering.

You all right? Well,

it would have been nice had those parts

not been put in there.

But that's part of the story too, isn't it?

People are gonna hopefully see

that it's just the story of a real person,

not a character.

And is that what you were after?

And nobody's perfect, are they?

So that's what we got up there on the screen.

You did a great job.

You did a great job.

Please welcome to the stage Paul T. Goldman.

Cats suck.

Why have you done all this?

Why do you do this?

Oh, you know, Paul T. Goldman

is a complicated guy.

I do this to...

That question is...

I'm just a regular guy

who all this shit happened to

and decided to take some action.

My mind raced.

My wife, my marriage,

and everything that I thought I knew was a lie.

This was not something that happened to me.

This was something that happened

to somebody else.

And that was the end of Paul.

Yeah, I'm the warrior now.

I'm not the wimp anymore.

To become the warrior,

you can't wallow in the emotions.

You focus on the warrior things,

the things at hand.

The things that you have control over.

This is the script now.

Don't worry, it'll be great.

Till death do us part, baby.

A lot of traumatic events

bring hidden strength from people.

Something happens and you have two choices:

be rolled over or do something about it.

You have to understand, I'm just an insurance guy

sittin' in a gray office.

To go to the cops,

to walk into that FBI building,

this is unbelievable.

It's like it wasn't real. But it was real.

It was me doing all of this stuff.

And, of course, was I successful in that area?

No.

But was I successful in creating this?

Yeah.

So in that way, it's been a complete success.

Being able to play me,

it's something that no one ever thought I could do.

I'm learning that there's five sides to every story.

You think you know something.

You really, really think you know something,

but it turns out you know nothing.

Life is so complicated.

Opportunities, lack of opportunities.

This person comes into your life.

That person comes into your life.

Do you recognize this? Do you not see this?

This opportunity came, and I grabbed it.

It's given me meaning.

And action!

How would you feel? How would you feel?

How would you feel?

It's a tremendous feeling.

Johnny!

It's...

it's just so fun.

It's so fantastic.

You seen this show called "Paul T. Goldman"?

Paul T. Goldman. Paul T. Goldman.

Paul T. Goldman.

Please welcome Paul T. Goldman.

Can I say one thing? Go ahead.

Wow!

Why did I do it? How did I do it?

I don't know!

But I did it because I had to do it.

There's your answer.

I had to do it.

I had to do it.

From wimp to warrior.
