and came up with a lot of
different options for that scene...

And we finally decided to add that
about the "six-letters" in the script.

And while saying that, I want to be
even more cynical to him,

I started counting the letters there.

During the 3rd Take or something

And to that, Hanzawa improvised
that counting of 3 letters

And that was a 3 letter word there...

"To-ma-ri"

There were many takes for that scene, right?

Yeah, there were.
- Explain it to them.

I did this, and this and also this.
But then they finally used this one.

He did it with 5 letters,
4 letters and then 3 letters

He was counting it, and then
when we had a nice flow going on,

... I spontaneously said
"are you worse than a primary school kid?"

So it was all improvised?
- Yes, it was.

and Sakai-san as well in advance.

how things ended in the first season?

So we all discussed and came up with a conclusion that we'll
pick it up with the mood, as it was when we ended season 1

That was the first time
I go see him in the bank...

After I was made to kneel down
and apologize to him...

That's the first time we meet after that happened.

Now, in the script, it ends at
"You are finished, Hanzawa-kun!"

But I felt that ending that scene
like that wasn't enough!

He always says that the things on the script aren't enough...
- It was lacking something!

After I was made to kneel down,
and the board of directors have all left the room,

... I still kept kneeling down as Ennosuke-san (Isayama) enters that room.

So something inside of him...
is clearly broken, you know, as a person...

Because he can't even

I was thinking about it ever since the previous day,
what he would say to him...

And I came to the set
and discussed with Sakai-san...

How about we use this "desu" (to be)
and make it sound like "DEATH"?

Yeah! That sounds like a good idea!

That was exactly what I was looking for
since the previous day!

It kinda suddenly flashed on me.

You didn't use it in the first take though, right?

Yeah, since we don't have a 'test'-take,
and to say that from the very first take,

...might not have been such a good idea...

You think about even things like that!?!?
- Of course I do!

Should I start that improvisation
from the very first take,

...or from the fourth take or something...
I thought about it as well...

And we were completely in the mood, for that part about
'you're finished' during the third take or so...

And then I wanted to hurl insults it to Sakai-san!

You totally hurled it at me!

It hit me out of nowhere!

I'm not just going and
yelling around in a bank!

I think about these things properly too.

But Oikawa-san, that seems to be quite a tricky or rather
a "high-risk" plan to go with while recording, right?

If he starts improvising like this on the actual take,
you'll of course be surprised, right?

He does it very well
while improvising in a way

that it comes out very effectively
to suit his role in the show

But I never imagined he would even calculate the timing
of when he wants to say those improvisations

(Kagawa) I think about that too!

Everyone were praising on social media

that the scene was quite impressive and...

It even went kinda viral, right?

And what did Kagawa Teruyuki think,
when that happened?

But you know... I just want the kids
not imitating that scene actually.

Why is this suddenly about kids?

Those are words that only Owada Akira
in the drama can say!!

for my role, Owada though.

And since Sakai-san frequently goes
to watch Nihon Buyo,

He goes there and
observes them properly, you see.

And he knows the techniques
used in Kabuki

So he suggested that
we split those "well well"

And the previous day,
I was thinking of suggesting him that!

And actually, the two people who press someone
for an answer, are actually allies, you see.

Such an innovative idea.

And that was improvised by Sakai-san

Rather than sharing it,
I just wanted one of those "well"

I wanted to have my own "well",
Owada has his own "well",

So I thought it would be interesting that
the both of us go along cornering him

And at the last point, where we have almost cornered him,
I went along with that "WELL WELL WELL!!!!!"

And I go "which one is it!?" and
there should be a gap there actually,

which was edited out during production,
but Sakai-san did it very well

Kagawa-san directed
that part of the scene actually.

This entire idea was Sakai-san's

And where I sit down at "FINISHED"
was also Sakai-san's idea

He thought about improvising that part,
and suggested me to sit down

And I gladly accepted it!

so Sakai-san can't do a lot of that

with a broader perspective to improvise.
