[Episode 14]

I wrote this letter for Xingxing.

It's a love letter.

Don't try to talk me out of it.

I've made up my mind.

After I finish this coffee,

I'm going to post it.

Both of us will witness this moment together.

Dad, I'm home.

Xingxing.

I'm starving.

What are we having for dinner?

Of course it's your favorite chicken curry.

Awesome!

Wash your hands

and give me a hand.

Yes, Chief!

It's a bliss to be able

to eat the curry chicken the Chief makes.

Of course.

I cooked it with affection.

The one who eats it can naturally feel

my effort.

Xingxing,

it's not the chicken that you're eating.

But the love

I have for you.

Come on.

I'll light up the stove.

Why is it not working?

Let me see.

♪Until you notice me♪

♪Going through this lonely world♪

(Wei Lan,)

(don't eat anything for breakfast tomorrow.)

(I'll make some for you.)

♪I will stay by your side♪

♪For all seasons to come♪

Okay, I'll be waiting.

♪Whether it's day or night♪

Don't tell me

this is the legendary

home-packed meal with love.

Xingxing must look adorable

when she cooks.

This color looks pretty.

What should we do about this now?

We have no choice.

Zhaozhao,

what happened?

What happened?

Don't you know something big happened?

Xingxing,

go to the lab now.

Please help me give this to Mr. Wei.

Mr. Wei?

What is it?

(Several giant raw suppliers)

(from the central, eastern, and northern of the country)

(have formed an alliance.)

(They will stop supplying to purchasers)

(from the date of the announcement.)

(According to the insiders,)

(the interruption of supply may be a way to protect themselves from the price increase.)

(At present, it'll affect promethazine hydrochloride,)

(maleic acid, chlorphenamine,)

(magnesium trisilicate, and other commonly used raw materials.)

So this is the reason Jiale stocked up on medications.

Where's Mr. Wei?

He's not here yet.

It happened so suddenly.

We must inform Mr. Wei quickly.

Meixi.

If we fail to deliver on time,

what's the damage for breach of contract?

It's three times the amount of liquidated damages.

That's going to be a big problem now.

Ling Ting,

get Mr. Wei here now.

Okay.

(It's unclear)

(how this supply interruption)

(will affect the production and the price)

(of medicine in the market.)

Mr. Gao,

your plan is so perfect.

No one can make bricks without straw.

This time,

they can never complete their order.

Hello?

Yes, Mr. Mai.

Your plan is so successful.

The news on TV is exactly what you said.

If nothing goes wrong,

Runshi won't be able

to deliver their order after one month.

When they fail to do so,

they'll have to pay three times the amount of liquidated damages.

Not only will Wei Baofeng feel distraught,

but Wei Lan will also lose his position

as the chairman.

Indeed.

When that happens,

Wei Lan will be even in deep trouble

and people will lose confidence in him

while Jiale adds fuel to the flame.

Then,

you'll only need to raise the issue,

and the position of the chairman

will naturally be within reach.

Okay, Mr. Mai.

I will fully cooperate with you.

When I have Runshi under my control,

I'll never forget your kindness.

I wish you success,

Chairman Gao.

(It's unclear)

(how this supply interruption)

(will affect the production and the price)

(of medicine in the market.)

Wei Lan

is still young and inexperienced.

The plot we set up

benefited Gao Song.

Uncle,

you can join the bidding

if you want to invest in the QW1 project.

Why would you

go through all the trouble and cooperate with Mr. Gao

to cut off Runshi's order supply?

What do you even know?

It doesn't matter

who controls Runshi in the end.

In any case,

there's nothing he can do.

I cut off Runshi's supply this time

so that he couldn't deliver the goods to those Russian men on time.

When that happens,

Runshi will definitely suffer a lot

because of the enormous liquidated damages.

Gao Song

will then lead the board of directors to criticize Wei Lan

and make him step down.

As for Wei Baofeng,

he'll let Gao Song take the position

to appease the board members.

So once

Runshi has fallen into Gao Song's hand,

it'll be too weak to withstand another blow.

When that happens,

it'll be easier for me

to take Project QW1.

As long as I have the QW1 project,

I can also offer the Wei family to end our discord

and let them work for me

by joining Jiale.

As long as the father and son perform well,

I would consider giving them

some shares.

Uncle,

what do we do with the raw materials we stockpiled?

The prices of those raw materials

have skyrocketed.

Be patient.

You can take your time to sell them out.

But

you must take notice of the buyers' backgrounds.

Watch out

for Wei Baofeng using someone's name

to help them purchase the goods.

Then, why did Mr. Gao

and Wonder Group refuse

to cooperate with Wei Baofeng

and go against him instead?

I don't even know

what Wei Baofeng is thinking.

All he thinks about is selling affordable medicine.

If we sell at the price he set,

we couldn't recover the cost of R&D

even if we bury ourselves in work for 30 years.

No one can wait that long.

If you put it that way,

that means Wei Baofeng is a good person.

You're right.

A good person?

You better know whose side you're on.

(This is the home-packed meal)

(that fills)

(with her affection,)

(love,)

(and thoughts.)

(No.)

(She didn't make this.)

(It must be some pig feed)

(made by some cafeteria lady.)

(Yes, that must be it.)

Mr. Wei, you sure are enjoying yourself here.

I can't believe you still have the mood

to have breakfast in this situation.

Why are you here?

Everyone is waiting for you at the lab.

I know.

I'll be there later.

(Isn't this Xingxing's lunchbox?)

That's right.

Hong Xingxing made breakfast especially for me.

She made it?

Yes.

Home-packed meal with love.

Home-packed meal with love, huh?

Since Xingxing made it herself,

I ask

that you don't waste her effort

and finish it all up.

I'll wait for you to finish

and go to the lab with you.

Of course.

Mr. Wei, please enjoy.

I'll watch you eat.

Not bad.

It's good.

Have another bite.

Eat more.

Wei Lan and I have made the calculations.

The coincidence factor for the category

of raw materials and orders needed for the Russian men this time

with the interrupted supply is more

than 80%.

As expected,

those Russian people and Jiale are in cahoots.

They knew the raw material supplier would cut off the supply.

So they're trying to defraud us of liquidated damages.

If we have a way to obtain raw materials

to complete the production,

we don't have to pay for the damages.

Do you have an idea?

No.

Xingxing,

don't worry.

With Mr. Wei's years of experience...

I mean, experience over the past six months.

I think he must have a plan.

Ling Ting is taking too long.

Why is Wei Lan not here yet?

Hong Xingxing.

Dark cuisine.

Are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital?

Yes.

Mr. Wei,

we're in a crisis now.

You can't fall sick.

It's nothing.

I just ate something wrong.

Let's get down to business.

What is it?

Wei Lan,

I've heard about the supply interruption.

Now, pharmaceutical companies

are on edge

and begging for help from others.

Is our company all right?

It's fine.

Don't push yourself too hard.

Over here,

I do have some old friends.

If you need raw materials,

I can obtain them for you.

Mr. Wei!

Mr. Wei,

we have an order

with huge demand.

Will it be hard?

Well, I...

Everything is fine here.

Last night, I contacted several warehouses

on the south coast.

I manage to have them deliver the raw materials

before the announcement of the supply interruption.

If nothing goes wrong,

the raw materials will arrive tonight.

It won't delay the production.

That's great.

That's all from me.

Mr. Wei,

Wei Lan is all grown up now.

Look how well he's handling the problem.

It's a good thing.

You should be happy about it.

I am happy.

He's all independent now,

and an old man like me

is no longer useful.

As for him,

he refuses to come home anymore.

Look how distressed you were.

So that means

you placed the order

after I called you

from Jiale?

Yes.

I ordered the same amount Jiale did

just before the supply interruption was announced.

Does that mean we don't have to pay the damages anymore?

Everything is under my control.

Why didn't you tell us earlier?

You could have spared us from worries.

You're amazing, Wei Lan.

I knew you could do it.

Wei Lan,

I was worried sick about you too.

What's going on here?

For our victory.

For Runshi.

For our victory.

Ling Ting,

your turn.

For our victory.

Yes, for our victory.

I have an email to take care of.

My work is not done yet.

I need to have a sip of water.

Let's go.

I need to get back to the lab.

Shouldn't you be coming too?

I'm going home.

(Wei Lan,)

(you managed to ruin my plan.)

(It looks like that ex-special agent)

(is pretty capable.)

(You better warn her to watch out.)

(Or else,)

(everyone will have it bad.)

You don't look well.

You need to take medication for diarrhea.

Why? Are you still mad at me?

I know I'm not good at cooking.

To make it up to you,

I'll buy you a meal tonight at...

Ling Ting.

What... what are you doing here?

Ling Ting.

Ling... Ling Ting!

Ling Ting, calm down.

Stop being childish.

Being childish?

I know

I'm only a kid to you.

Assuming I'm joking around with people I like

and taking it lightly.

And you?

You only want to help Wei Lan

to matchmake them.

If so,

why are you concerned about me

and making me tell you all my troubles?

Yet you don't care if I'm sad.

You must be making fun of me in your heart, right?

I... I'm not.

I do care about you.

My concern for you is real.

Real?

Do you also think

I'm a joke, childish,

and that my existence is unnecessary

when I'm next to them?

Am I right?

No.

Ling Ting, where are you going? Ling Ting!

What's the matter?

Nothing.

I realized you're too precious

after experiencing today's crisis.

Well, this is nothing

compared to my missions in the army.

I'll always stand by your side.

And

you can leave

something like this to me in the future.

I'll never let you do anything dangerous in the future.

Something's not right, Wei Lan.

Why are you being sentimental today?

Here I am as your boyfriend,

caring about you, being considerate of you,

and eating your horrible cooking.

And you're calling me sentimental?

It's so hard being your boyfriend.

Fine, I'm sorry.

Come on.

Sit down.

I'll give you a massage to make it up to you.

Hong Xingxing,

are you trying to kill me?

I only use 30% of my strength.

I won't use a lot of strength this time. So relax.

Stop.

What's wrong?

Don't you know

you can't touch a man's neck casually?

Why not?

No reason.

In any case, you're not allowed to do this to other men.

Wait.

That includes women too.

You can only do it to me.

All right, then.

That's weird.

Let's go on a date.

I need you to make up

for my emotional trauma.

Wait.

[To Hong Xingxing] This is the one.

The recipient is Hong Xingxing.

I... I no longer want to post it.

Please return it to me.

I'm sorry, mister.

You need to prove that you're the sender.

Will my ID do?

Or do you need to compare the handwriting?

I can write and show you now.

It's useless trying to prove it to me.

I... I don't have the right to give the letter to you.

Then I read the letter's content

without a word missing.

(We meet every day at the office.)

(But I still hope)

(to convey this by letter.)

(If we think about it,)

(it has been 15 years)

(since we knew each other.)

(We've spent)

(a lot of happy moments together in the past 15 years.)

(I know)

(you only see me)

(as a friend,)

(a playmate, and a baby brother.)

(But now,)

(I'm asking you to let me be someone else.)

(I like you.)

(It's been 15 years.)

(In the next 15 years)

(and the next 15 years after that,)

(I want to stay by your side as your lover.)

(This weekend,)

(I'll be waiting for you at the wooden house.)

How touching.

It really is. It's been 15 years?

I haven't seen such a sincere feeling in a long time.

Wait.

Let me call my superior for further instructions.

It's such a touching love letter.

Are you sure you're not posting it to Xingxing?

I don't want to post it anymore.

I'm giving it to her in person.

All right.

I'll send you home later.
