Do you do ladies and gentlemen?

This is the MGM reporter speaking,

calling your attention to a message confirmed in the police

and penitentiary records of every nation in the world.

The message that crime does not pay.

At this time it is my privilege to interview Warden Hannah graves

and captain of detectives Richard Kine

there is your answer

because they tried to beat the law

I'm going to find myself a guy with a cute boy and get married.

How about you fell in love? Not me.

I'm gonna get a kick out of life but I'm still young enough to enjoy it.

I've sent fulfillment

Yes

after I graduated

I went to a school of beauty culture

and then I got a job and they asked us along

I made up my mind that I was going to get everything life could offer

I wanted money clothes

luxuries

when I met Steve black to me he represented life

I thought I was having a good time

oh I'm thrilled

Oh anyway

there a lot of parked cars along here.

Yes other people seem to have the same idea we have

I doubt it. You know

I've got a swell idea for a gag.

But I'll bet we could give a couple of these front seat wrestlers a scare

that would stunt their growth.

Your game for a big laugh

all right, Christopher

Come on, come on

don't move.

You should have seen their faces scared.

I thought the girl was going to pull up like a camp chair

and the fellas to guesstimate routine.

So I have

to take it back to him. Oh, I'll send it to him

by Special Delivery tomorrow.

What do you think you're doing going back?

Oh, no, we're not keep going.

Keep going

Hey there you are any battle ratio?

Or think there's a news broadcast out?

Sure there is. Look at the lowdown on what's been

released tonight we're searching for the hit and run driver

who crashed into a car on the highline road a few hours ago

causing the death of JJ Willis, the driver and gravely injuring his wife.

Police believe the hit and run car is the same

which carried the bandit pair, a man and a redheaded woman

and a tan coupe who held up a park sedan on Willow road

shortly before the accident.

You're going someplace? Yes to the police.

I'll tell them how it was.

For sure you will.

Remember you just killed the guy.

You were driving the car at the time of the stick up.

Don't forget that.

The one we're gonna do?

Well, we got to get out of here as soon as we can.

Okay,

let's go right away.

Now listen. I'm wild about you.

I'm sorry, I got you into this mess.

But you and I are going to stick together.

Dave I'm afraid Don't worry.

I won't let you down. But you're not going to let me down either.

That was my mistake.

I was frightened.

But well dude.

I couldn't think clearly.

I realize now that what I should have done

was to go to the police to tell the truth.

But instead I took the easiest way with every job

I became more thrilled it all seems so simple.

Such an easy way to get everything

I'd wanted out of life love

money excitement

I love it waiting

another quarter champagne yes

I'm so happy

pretty sweet

I thought I was writing high things

I craved were coming my way how thrilled

and I was getting

put price thrilled

Hunterdon hounded

well one crime failed another

will you park somewhere you make me tired?

A paper read all about it.

Nida victim abandoned paradise night

a victim abandoned paradise XP paper.

Well, I had to do it it wouldn't behave.

The police would get us to this.

Oh yeah. Not the way I operate baby.

So what I use a different gun every time.

Don't I use a different car every time.

Oh, come on, honey. No dumb cop is gonna get me.

I'm too smart for them. Come on,

come on, snap out of it.

Yeah, try this

we thought we were smart.

But the police was smarter.

Yeah, answer is, here I am.

Now I think Captain Khan can tell you the rest of the story better than I can.

Thank you.

We knew that all these holdups have been done

with bethink speed and we establish these facts.

In every case the victims are forced to give up their cars

which were later found abandoned.

Shots were fired in every holdup.

Some of the bullets recovered.

So I immediately went to work with the assistance of my lieutenant detective John Hennessy.

And he looked with a sniper bullet.

No, the striations are different.

Take a look for yourself

neither one of these bullets match.

We're certainly up against some clever Yang's

using different guns and each stick up.

Let's have a talk with a sniper go.

On now would you mind describing the whole up as definitely as you can.

Mr. Snyder and I will park just a little to one side of the road.

He will see us we'll get his right arm out my shoulder.

Suddenly this man appeared from out of nowhere.

Yet a muffler covering his face

so that his eyes were the only part of his face it could be seen.

crow flies.

It was horrible

how long we talked before the bandit appeared

just a few minutes, we've just left the El Royale club

the El Royale Schneider

a couple of the Ellroy output the night of

the sticker emphases from the record of these cases,

I found that the warm holdup occurred right here.

And that's in the direct vicinity of the KitKat club.

Location The first ticket in the hit and run crash was here.

And that's in the vicinity of the lakeside club.

Bad an automobile was found in the same vicinity

that smashed fenders and contained the paint of the car had crashed.

And the girl was described as having red hair.

Every job was pulled near some nightclub

Exactly. Every case the people were forced out of their cars

and we later found these cars abandoned

when no fingerprints were then one abandoned car

we found a strand of a girl's red hair.

It's essential that the same two people are doing all these jobs

car 28 Calling Captain kind wish to report pickup to people

Also every main artery in this area

at a watch for every redhead girl

Even close touch with a motor vehicle bureau reports me immediately

and all stolen cars yesterday.

But days we'd stopped out these places and nothing happened.

We covered every movement carefully

so the bandage wouldn't be aware of the methods

by which we were trying to apprehend them.

We planted our men at all the clubs

Come on

made a complete confession and

was sentenced 20 years

the best years of my life to be spent behind prison walls.

Crime certainly didn't pay for them.

No it didn't. But that isn't the finish of the story.

The state saved Delmas child

the stigma of being born in prison.

But her greatest punishment will be throughout the years to come.

Selma will be denied seeing her child for 20 years.

Her trail of thrills has ended in the knowledge

that her baby must never know that his mother is a convict,

and that his father was a murderer

slain by the law
