[Catch Up My Prince]

[Episode 8]

Lu Ren Jia, receive the gift.

The Empress Dowager gave this to you. Keep it well.

Xiao Jia, this jade bracelet is something I got as a reward.

It's a pair of them, so I'm giving one of them to you.

Just like how you and I have always been.

I don't blame you, this is all fate.

You are about to go to Yongyan Palace,

and I only hope that you stay safe and everything would go well for you.

One's fate is calculated by a program.

It's something we can't change.

Sugarcane the Fourth, maybe it's the same

for the two of us too.

Eunuch Bao, what are you here for?

What Eunuch, I'm an Imperial Guard.

I'm sure you've heard.

Lu Ren Jia is being brought to Yongyan Palace.

She is mischievous

but is kind. We were previously acquainted

and became friends. As a friend I'm worried she might make mistakes

as it's her first time here. So please take care of her.

Eunuch B– I mean Imperial Guard Bao, no need to stand on ceremony.

I've heard that she's medically skilled

and is useful to the Prince, that's why she's promoted.

Moreover, she's Imperial Guard Bao's friend,

I have to treat her like she's my own friend.

I'll count on you then.

It started with me just trying to complete my mission. Since when

did an NPC come into my heart?

Because I know his character is supposed to be a playboy,

those kindness and gentle gestures he does

are probably just normal things to him.

But to me, I can't help but sink into it.

Xiao Shun Zi, why are you here?

Lady Lu, my apologies.

We need you to go with us.

She's working in Yongyan Palace now?

Don't worry, Prince, I've already bribed the Mother at Yongyan Palace

saying she's my friend.

I'm sure they won't put lady Xiao Jia on the spot.

You're smart.

Now that my request has been declined by my father,

we can only have her suffer a little in Yongyan Palace.

The Prince has always been nice to people, and lady Xiao Jia is a bright girl.

Along with the help I've tried to get. I don't think anything would go wrong.

Prince, what you don't know is

someone wrote a prescription for the Prince today to help his heart condition,

and it is the long-heard-of Longevity Soup.

I'm very pleased to see it in my lifetime.

Do you know who it is by?

It's by a lady surnamed Lu.

She previously showed her impeccable medical talent

in the examination earlier on.

Now that she has come up with this prescription,

this is also a good thing

for the Prince's illness.

If my brother can be treated by someone like this, I'm sure he will recover.

Indeed.

The Prince also requested for Lady Lu to administer some medication for him.

So I went to do that immediately.

Hopefully His Highness can recover as soon as possible.

Thank you.

That's good.

She's interested in medicine anyway. This is also part of her wish.

To be able to get Brother's recognition

Xu Dang and his company won't be able to hurt her.

Isn't Lady Xin Er also in Yongyan Palace?

On your account, I'm sure she will take good care of Xiao Jia too.

You shouldn't have mentioned that.

By the way, I saw the Ministry of Rites have made some new products.

The artificial flowers are indeed very beautiful.

PIck a few for me, and deliver it over to her.

Though she's working at the Prince's Mansion, she shouldn't be suffering either.

Your Highness, I know you care about Xiao Jia.

But you should care about me too.

I just came back from Yongyan Palace, and haven't even sit down.

Come, I will care about you.

Lady Xin Er.

Bao? Why are you here?

I'm here under the Fourth Prince's order. I'm looking for Xiao Jia.

Could Lady Xin Er please ask for her for me?

The lady called Lu Ren Jia?

I heard she's going to be here today.

But I haven't seen her yet.

I see...

Is this... Is this what Fourth Prince wants to give her?

I can pass it to her.

-This... -Why? Can't trust me?

Not like that. It's just that Fourth Prince ordered me

to personally pass it to Xiao Jia. Since she's not here, I shall take my leave.

Does Fourth Prince not trust me

or Bao, you, don't trust me?

Nothing of that sort.

In that case, I will entrust this to you.

You have to tell Lady Xiao Jia that this is from Fourth Prince.

Thank you.

Why is Lady Xiao Jia with Second Prince?

Second Prince.

Have a seat.

Second Prince, if you are looking for me, just pass on a word to me.

There's no need to make it so...grand.

Could this be regarding me dirtying your clothes? I apologize for that.

I have already thrown out those clothes.

Could it be because I accidentally burnt you...

That's nothing.

In that case...

Eat this.

What is this?

I'm telling you to eat it.

What you've just eaten is the Death-in-7-days Pill.

Just as its name goes, if you don't get the antidote within seven days,

your intestines will break apart and you will die.

Second Prince, I'm just a lowly servant.

If I have made you angry with any of my actions,

please be the bigger man and forgive me.

As you head to Yongyan palace,

memorize what the Prince eats, wears, stays, and goes.

In seven days, report them to Xiao Shun Zi

and I will give you the antidote.

Your Highness, you're asking me to be an undercover?

I can't do this.

-I will give it away in just a day. -In seven days,

Xiao Shun Zi will be waiting for you by the Lotus Pond.

This block of ice wouldn't listen to me at all.

Aren't you afraid that I would tell the Prince about this the moment I leave this place?

If this is let out of the bag,

you will be the first to be killed.

I'm done! I just managed get rid of a danger.

This game might as well be called "Double Undercover Romance."

But I–

Lady Lu, please.

Tsk.

Your Highness, I'm back.

Unfortunately, Miss Xiao Jia

hasn't arrived at Yongyan Palace yet. So I passed the silk flowers to Miss Xin Er.

She said she would pass them to Miss Xiao Jia when she reaches.

After that, at the entrance of Yinghua Palace,

I saw Miss Xiao Jia being held up by the guards.

I think the second prince...

- What? What is it? Finish your sentence. - He...

He took her away.

You're Miss Lu, right? You're finally here.

How do I address you?

My surname is Rong. I'm an old servant in Yongyan Palace.

Mother Rong... She looks a lot kinder than most Nannies seen in TV shows.

Nice to meet you, Mother Rong.

Other than you, who'd be taking care of the Prince's medication,

there are also a few other servants

who takes care of the Prince's food, accessories, and clothes,

who'd take care of the Prince along with you.

I will introduce you in the future.

Sounds like that Wu Zixin, should be the one who takes care of his food.

If you encounter any difficulties in Yongyan Palace, feel free to look for me.

Okay.

Brother? What a rare visitor. What is it about?

Brother, I shall go straight to the point.

Where did you take Lu Ren Jia to? What matter is it?

A personal matter.

As far as I know, you don't have any personal relationship with her. So what personal matter could it be?

Even if you really have a personal matter with her, you shouldn't forcibly take her in broad daylight.

You are meddling too much.

What are you going to do to her?

I have nothing to tell you.

Then let me remind you.

Punishing a court maid privately goes against the palace's rules.

Did I hear wrongly?

The playboy Fourth Prince is talking about rules with me.

She can tell stories and learn how to write in your palace,

but in my palace, she has to be punished?

Never mind, Second Brother, let's not talk about this.

Just tell me where she is right now.

She belongs to Yongyan Palace now,

you're not looking for her at Yongyan Palace,

but making a fuss at my place?

Thank you Second Brother, I'll take my leave.

I shan't see you out.

Your Highness, Lady Xiao Jia has already arrived safely at Yongyan palace.

Don't be nervous.

It could be a small animal looking for food.

It's Gui Zhi. It has to be Gui Zhi.

Gui Zhi?

You mean the servant who used to take care of Prince's medication?

The Prince is ridden with strong Yin,

after Gui Zhi got promoted to take care of his medication, she had a sudden accidental death.

Who knows, there might be something dirty around here.

Don't say things like this regarding the Prince.

Are you courting death?

Gui Zhi died drowning in a lake

after getting off work late.

My god, hear that? On the night Gui Zhi died,

it was said that it was because she spilled the medication that the Imperial Physician made for the Prince.

The second day morning, she was found dead in the lake.

Just because she spilled the medication

so she... Died?

That's why I'm saying her death is weird.

That's why everyone says...

Look at that! That dark shadow!

I-I see Gui Zhi!

It is Gui Zhi!

Seems like things are not easy around Yongyan Palace either.

Your Highness, we're here.

What are you trying to do?

Lord Xu, why are you here?

Quick, rise.

Here.

Look at me. Look at me.

What do you see?

I see... Lord Xu.

Have you ever thought

why you, who's supposed to be having a night's out with His Majesty, is here?

Seems like your so-called friend

didn't tell you anything.

Friend? What do you mean?

Lu Ren Jia. Ever since she entered the palace,

she has been trying to get close to Fourth Prince, and Eleventh Prince.

Now she's in the Prince's Mansion too.

Is this something that a normal servant is able to do?

Lord. Xu, what are you trying to say?

She's supposed to be the one performing for this Birthday Ceremony,

why, why did she push you to the forefront?

Why is she trying all she can to make you appear in front of His Majesty?

Do you think Her Majesty would turn a blind eye to this?

Her Majesty will only think you,

have something up your sleeve,

-and is trying to climb up the ladder. -That's not true! I believe in Xiao Jia.

Stop thinking about her anymore!

In this palace, only I,

only I,

can help you.

Understood?

Your Highness, it's time for your medication.

Got it.

You're Lu Ren Jia who's new here, right?

You still remember my name? Just call me Xiao Jia.

Lady Xiao Jia, thank you for saving my life.

It's because Your Highness's blessed. For the nonsense I have spouted,

thank you for your kindness and saving me.

Lady Xiao Jia, why does the medication today

taste slightly different from those in the past?

This is Ginseng and Spikenard soup. It mainly treats Chi and Yin deficiency.

It's a common medication, please rest assured.

In that case,

I shall drink it without much concern.

Your Highness, do you still remember

the servant who was punished to run a few months ago.

When she was almost out of breath, it was you who saved her.

You even gave her some cakes.

His Highness told you to stop running.

Also, these are awarded to you by His Highness.

Thank you.

Of course, I remember. I also know,

you are that servant.

No need.

Lady Bu knows so much about medication despite being so young.

You are a talent hard to come by.

I saved you that day because I couldn't bear to see it.

I didn't think it was part of the good fate we have today.

You flatter me. From now on,

I will do my best when brewing medication for Your Highness.

Big Brother, Xiao Jia, I'm here to hang out with you.

You came in such a hurry, what did you invent this time?

Brother.

It's uncommon that Eleven visits Yongyan Palace. Are you here for Xiao Jia?

No, I'm here to visit you.

And also Xiao Jia along the way.

Seems like Eleven

will be visiting Yongyan Palace very frequently in the future.

Should I be happy

or sad?

I'm here.

Miss Lu,

you won't hate me, right?

I hate you, I hate you very much.

Look, you gave me such a large pill, yet you didn't even give me any water. Do you want me to choke?

Miss Lu, you really know how to joke.

I'm not joking.

Later you should go find Second Prince to ask him for the exact same pill and eat it with me.

Alright, it's already late and getting dark,

I will tell you the Crown Prince's meals within the last 7 days.

It'll be easier for your to report your duty.

Thank you Miss Lu.

[Pear Blossom Garden]

Bin.

The character is a combination of Wen and Wu.

A'Wen mentioned that they had a brother

named A'Wu-

Miss Xin Er.

What are you doing here?

You have been transferred to Yongyan Palace because of your outstanding performance in the birthday banquet of the Empress Dowager.

I have been too busy these past few days, so I forgot to talk to you.

Don't stand on ceremony. From now on, I'll also need your help. Thank you in advance.

This is for you.

Previously, the Fourth Prince asked Xiao Bao to send me two silk flowers.

he said it was the latest style.

Now you and I are working in the same place, so we should take care of each other.

I'm borrowing one of the flowers as a gift for you.

Thank you, Miss Xin Er.

I still have other things to do, so I will be going first.

This is a gift from the Fourth Prince,

and I have spoken truthfully about it.

Someone come! Someone come quickly!

The Crown Prince is critically ill! Somebody come quickly!

Hurry up.

Someone come quickly!

The Crown Prince?

Stop arguing! Why is the Imperial Physician still not here?

Miss Lu! Miss Lu! Thank goodness you're here, come with me.

Something happened to the Crown Prince! Make way, make way!

Let me tell you, when the Crown Prince was having his meal, he was fine,

and then he suddenly... quickly!

[Morning breeze, Elegant charm]

Xiao Jia, wake up.

Xiao Jia,

Your Highness, you are finally awake. I was so worried.

this body of mine,

Everyone knows I become critically ill and almost die all the time.

you can't say that,

now that I'm responsible for you, I have to be responsible to the end.

Crown Prince, please don't worry,

later I will go and examine the remains of the medicine that you had yesterday.

Oh yes, Mister Jiu. Could you also help me to ask

how His Highness's meal were arranged yesterday.

Yes.

Is there a problem?

Because I have thought about it,

Your Highness's medicinal tea was personally checked by me, so there shouldn't be any problems with it.

Then what if the ingredients from the medicine and the food were not compatible?

When I have checked it thoroughly, there will definitely be an answer, Your Highness please don't worry.

Miss Yu,

Mister Jiu.

Where can I find the leftovers from the Crown Prince's meals from yesterday?

Back to Mister Nine, it's all been disposed.

Typically the leftovers from one day's meals will not be kept until the next day.

Okay, you can go back to work.

Regarding my highness's search for schisandra berry, please do not tell anyone about it, Lord Li.

Xiao Shunzi? What is he doing here?

Lord Li, please wait.

Oh, Miss Lu. You're already serving medicine at Yongyan Palace, right?

Congratulations, what did you need from me today?

I have just started my duty at the Crown Prince's residence,

so I need to be more familiar with the Crown Prince's medicine history.

So I came to check the pharmacy's records.

This...alright.

-Thank you, - I will get back to work then,

[Kelp, Ginseng, Agarwood, Zhi Mu, Licorice, Schisandra berry, Clove]

Agarwood.

Schisandra berry.

If it is used as a medicine in normal way,

There should be no problems with this amount,

Nonsense. Why would the Crown Prince suddenly faint for no good reason?

Someone must be trying to harm my Yu Er again.

Go and investigate all the people serving the Crown Prince.

-Investigate thoroughly -I will go investigate.

Greeting Second Prince,

How is my older brother now?

He woke up this morning and is fine now. Please don't worry, Second Prince.

Have you found out the reason?

I'm still checking.

I believe that there will be answers soon.

You should stay and take care of him.

Alright. He usually keeps a poker face.

But he seems very concerned about the Crown Prince.

So weird

Are you alright?

Yes, I'm fine. Thank you, Dear.

What? Did you call me Dear just now?

How can you say such a frivolous word so easily?

Second Prince, you must be mistaken.

This is just a polite expression unique to my hometown.

Wait a minute. Does this mean that Zhao Chen Yi misunderstood me

as a frivolous woman from the very beginning?

Is that why he doesn't like me at all after all this time?

What happened?

I- I'm okay.

If Second Young Highness has nothing else,

I will take my leave first.

Lu Ren Jia, you really made yourself easy to find.

Take a walk with me.

Nanny, what did you need me for?

We'll talk to the Empress Dowager.

Greetings to Empress Dowager.

Lu Ren Jia,

Yes,

How dare you, a lowly servant girl, to plot against the Crown Prince.

I was wronged. Even if I had the courage to do so,

I would never do anything harmful to the Crown Prince.

Then, do you know what is Schisandra berry?

Schisandra berry? Yes, I do.

According to the Essential Formulas medical text,

the Schisandra berry treats the heat damage to the vital energy,

dry mouth and thirst, excessive sweating

or damp-heat in the fire element (relating to heart, small intestines). The Fire element creates the Gold element (relating to lungs, large intestine).

You are really well versed in medicinal knowledge.

Then I'm sure you're well aware that

this medicine alone can still strengthen the heart and protect the liver.

If it is added in excess elsewhere, it will be a poison.

The Crown Prince was critically ill because he took this medicine by mistake.

Usually, the Crown Prince's medicine is prepared by you.

How can you get away with this?

- I was wronged! Empress Dowager, please look into it. - How dare you be stubborn and reluctant to admit mistakes.

Come on, take her to the Department of Internal Punishment.

I was wronged! I was wronged, Empress Dowager!

I was wronged!

Your Highness, bad news!

What is it? Why are you so flustered and disgraced?

The night before yesterday, the Crown Prince was critically ill.

When he woke up the news reached Yong'an Palace. The Empress Dowager was very angry.

She said she wanted to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Miss Xiao Jia seems to be involved and was taken away by the Department of Internal Punishment.

Department of Internal Punishment?

Did you find out what this is about?

It was said that there was a mistake in the medicine given to the Crown Prince.

Miss Jia is responsible for serving medicine and has knowledge of medicine.

So, the Empress Dowager suspected her immediately.

I thought Yongyan Palace could keep her safe.

After all the planning and considerations,

I didn't expect this to happen.

What should we do?

My dear child, don't get up.

With Grandmother around, don't be scared.

I'm fine now.

You came to visit me for such a small illness.

I feel bad.

I have caught the person

who secretly tampered with your medicine.

Who is it?

Your Highness, please allow me to report.

The residue of schisandra berry was detected on the silk flower

belonging to the palace maid Lu Ren Jia.

The schisandra berry is normally known for its heart-strengthening and liver-protecting properties.

But when added in excess to other medicines,

it can be a poison.

Miss Lu first sent His Highness a heart protection medicine,

which was highly praised by the imperial physician, Lord Sun.

And then she was recommended by His Highness for promotion.

Why would she return kindness with ingratitude?

My lady, you are right.

Grandmother, Xiao Jia has been serving me for many days in Yong Yan Palace.

She has always been meticulous and dedicated.

I believe she is not the malicious one causing harm.

Moreover, if she had the intention to harm me,

why would she have come to my rescue

when I was in danger last time?

Perhaps her silk flower just happened to be tainted with herbs.

You're just too kind-hearted

You didn't want to think of people in a bad light.

Grandmother, I sincerely plead with you

not to hurt Xiao Jia

until the matter is cleared up.

This method of steeping schisandra berries in water is really good.

Congratulations to Your Highness for finally getting a good night's sleep.

By the way, what's the status of the investigation into Big Brother's illness?

The scouts reported that the people sent by the Empress Dowager had found evidence.

- It's Miss Lu's silk flower. - What?

M-Miss Lu is now imprisoned in the Department of Internal Punishment.

Your Highness, Miss Lu has been working for you all these while. Even if she has not performed meritorious deed,

she has done the hard work.

Empress Dowager, what is this lady's intention?

Why did she save the Crown Prince before,

but is now trying to harm him?

I knew from the beginning that

she is just a scapegoat.

The child seems to be a good person.

If she really wanted to harm the Crown Prince,

how could she have left such obvious evidence?

I just can't stop worrying.

Why did you send her to jail, Empress Dowager?

If those behind the crime do not let down their guard,

how can they make a mistake

for me to catch them?

Empress Dowager, you are wise.

I would rather have peace in the palace.

Then, I can be an old lady who enjoys old age peacefully,

and playing happily with my grandchildren.

Unfortunately, there are too many people with ill intentions.

This time, they are even plotting against the Crown Prince.

If you are worried about her being disloyal to the Crown Prince,

you can get rid of her like Gui Zhi.

It's better to lock her up for the time being.

Let's wait until the matter is clearly investigated and then deal with it.

[Schisandra berry]

The amount of schisandra berry used in Yongyan Palace should be fine.

[Chinese wolfberry, Fu Shen, Walnut, Fennel, Cyperus, Nut grass, Seahorse, Notoginseng, Sugar, Fu Ling, Schisandra berry, Wild ginger, Amomum fruit, Sichuan fritillaria] Yinghua Palace.

Later, Miss Xiao Jia was held captive by the guards.

It seems that the Second Prince...

- What did he do? - He invited her over to his place.

Second Brother.

Zhao Chen Yao!

Old Four?

Fourth brother, you usually do not show yourself,

I did not expect your martial arts skills to be good.

Why do you want to harm her?

I don't know what you're talking about.

If you hadn't forced her to do that,

would she have done that?

Do what?

You are the one behind Big brother's tampered medicine, right?

She is now held guilty of harming the Crown Prince.

She is imprisoned in the Department of Internal Punishment and we have no further news of her.

Yet, you're not worried at all.

This matter has nothing to do with me.

You are bullshitting.

There was high dosage of schisandra berry in brother's medicine.

It must be that you took the medicine from Ying Hua Palace

and forced her to put it into big brother's medicine.

Fourth Prince, you have misunderstood.

Master did send me to get some schisandra berries.

But it is used for sleeping treatment.

- Now that the season has changed, the Second Prince often... - You don't have to explain.

- Send the guest away. - You...

Fourth Prince, this way please.

Grandmother, please be benevolent and spare Lu Ren Jia.

You are getting more and more undisciplined.

You are a royal prince, and yet you are pleading for a lowly maid.

Besides, she is also a suspect in poisoning your big brother.

I have spent a lot of time with Lu Ren Jia.

I don't believe she could have poisoned Big Brother.

She only flattered you for a few days,

how can you vouch for her character?

You have not competed for anything all these years,

and you have been hiding from everything.

Instead, you are now rushing forward for a palace maid.

Why can't you retain your composure?

Rumor has it that big brother was overdosed and suffered a sudden medical condition.

If Lu Ren Jia really did it, she could have stood by and not saved big brother.

But she still saved big brother without hesitation.

Grandmother, please investigate this case clearly.

Actually, the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess

have come to plead with me for mercy in the past few days.

They guarantee that Lu Ren Jia is not the culprit.

Since the matter is still questionable,

let's investigate it more carefully.

- Ask the Department of Internal Punishment to release her. - Understood.

Thank you, Grandmother. I will make a move first.

Empress Dowager, there is something I'm puzzled about.

This Lu Ren Jia is still suspicious, why let her go so easily?

Earlier, Lord Xu also said that this lady is close to the Fourth Prince.

She probably would not be loyal to the Crown Prince.

Before today I may still have a trace of doubt.

I suspected Old Four to be the mastermind and asked Lu Ren Jia to poison Yu Er.

But now I don't doubt it at all.

If it is really him, he would avoid arousing suspicion.

He certainly wouldn't have lost his composure to plead with me.

Empress Dowager's words are right.

And do you know where Old Four went before

- he stepped into Yong'an Palace? - Please tell me.

He actually went to Yinghua Palace himself.

And surprisingly fought with Old Two

for Lu Ren Jia's matter.

Perhaps Old Two is involved in this too.

I see.

Reporting.

Empress Dowager, the Eleventh Prince requests an audience.

Grandmother.

I've come to pay my respects.

Grandmother, I wonder if you are feeling well, have been sleeping well, and have a good appetite lately?

I'm all fine.

These are new pastries I got today,

I brought them especially for you to try.

Xuan Er, if you're here to plead for Lu Ren Jia, you won't have to.

Oh Grandmother, please don't kill Xiao Jia.

Grandmother, Xiao Jia didn't do anything deadly, please let her go.

You are my dearest grandmother. I'm begging you.

I have already asked them to release her.

You've already released Xiao Jia?

Then, I will come back another day to pay respect to you.

Another one that won't grow up.

This girl has a lot of ability.

So many people are pleading for her.

If it is true that someone intentionally framed her,

then all the more I should keep her to assist Yu Er.
