- I've been playing flute since 20 years.

- Well, we were practicing, sir.

I was a professional volleyball player.

- And how did you meet?

- So I came with my partner on "India's Got Talent."

Then somehow my partner didn't come on the audition day.

And I was practicing outside of the audition area.

And he came to me,

and he told me that his partner also didn't come.

- Yeah. - He got sick.

- And we decided to do the audition together.

And then we won the show. - Oh, wow.

I'm a magician from Stowe, Pennsylvania.

My wife and I have two beautiful boys,

who we adopted.

They are our world. They're absolutely incredible.

They're sitting right there. Hey, everybody.

- And how did "AGT" change your life?

- How didn't it change my life, would be the real question.

[soft music]

There's 17 acts on the planet who get to say that they won

"America's Got Talent," and I'm one of them,

and that is still mind-blowing to me.

- I could never have imagined

life changing so drastically in such a short amount of time.

I won "America's Got Talent."

A couple of days later, I go, and I'm on "The Ellen Show."

- Oh, my God.

- I got to meet David Copperfield,

who is one of my heroes.

I got to perform for the NHL.

We went from literally not knowing

where income was going to come from

to packing up, moving to Vegas,

and headlining a show on the Strip.

Just, like, all these things that you could ever dream of

all happening at once.

- Dustin Tavella is still celebrating his big win.

- After all the hard stuff my family has fought through,

it is incredible to think that something like this

could happen to me.

How are you doing, everybody?

- The pressure that I feel this time around

is way different.

I'm here with other people who have won,

people who have lost.

But, yeah, I think the idea of defending my title,

it definitely is intimidating.

I think I have to muster up every amount of confidence

that I have to step on to that stage,

because I want to show my wife, my boys,

and all the Superfans

that I have what it takes to win this competition.

- Our words can literally become reality.

Words are powerful.

But words are not always encouraging.

When I was a little kid, I had this belief deep inside me

that I had the ability to impact the lives of others

in a way that mattered.

And then I met a lady who always felt the need

to remind me that the only thing that I had was ADHD,

a minor version of Tourette's,

and a whole lot of people who had no idea what to do with me.

What could this anxious, unfocused kid possibly do

to change the world?

How could I impact lives in a way that mattered...

When I didn't even matter?

- Her words created a barrier that I couldn't see past

and I didn't think I would ever be able to break through.

But then fast-forward to when I was about 18 years old.

I met a man named Keith, whose words also changed me.

Keith became a mentor to me, and day after day,

he would speak words to me

that reminded me of who I really was.

Terry, Heidi, I want to show you guys something.

If you guys could each grab a piece of this.

Hold this up right there maybe with your other hand.

Terry, up.

That hand, Heidi.

- This? - Yep, right there.

Look, Keith single-handedly reached into my life

and removed every negative word

that I ever believed about myself.

His words helped me break through this barrier

that I thought I would be stuck behind forever.

and remind me that I mattered.

This is why it never felt like it was me

who won "America's Got Talent."

It was an eight-year-old boy who believed

that he would never be anything.

we've ever had.

And I was a finalist

on "Britain's Got Talent," series 15.

When I was eight years old, my nan bought me a monkey puppet,

and that's when I first started

getting into ventriloquism.

- Initially, Jamie didn't really like Chuck.

And he rang me at work

and said, "I don't want a chicken."

And then about ten minutes later,

he sent me a video of him and Chuck singing,

and then that was it.

The rest is history.

- Jamie, did you think in your wildest dreams

that you'd be standing here at the final right now?

- Not really, no. - No.

No. - I did.

- In the final, there was a moment when they announced

that he was going off.

And at that point, I really just wanted to run

on the stage and put my arms around him.

- When I didn't win, it was very, very hard,

but I was still proud of myself.

I knew I had more to show.

- My dream is to have my name in lights

and perform all over the world.

My husband and I, we're a repeat.

So we got back together.

I let him know, though, that woman, that freaky woman

One night we're laying around.

Husband gets a late-night text from an old girlfriend.

You know what it was? Naked.

She was naked in this text.

I was like, "Oh, my God.

"I'll leave the car running.

You'll be done with her. We can still make the movie."

I want to subcontract it out, get my Wednesdays back.
