[Once We Get Married]

[Episode 16 | But I Never Loved You]

May I kiss you?

Xixi, here's…

- Mom, just put it there. - A quilt.

Thanks.

Thanks, Mom.

Did you draw here when you were little?

Yeah. I had just started drawing back then.

[Because I'm Nice | Happy Every Day]

What's that?

No, no, no. Yin Sichen, please don't.

Seriously, no.

Give it to me.

Let me take a look. Don't be mean.

"Dear Xixi."

Don't read it out loud. Give me a break.

A love letter, Gu Xixi.

You just left it in the drawer.

And there are so many.

It's lucky to be admired.

Let's do it tonight.

What?

Read them to me as bedtime stories.

You wish.

What about

finishing what we started just now?

Where should we start?

Which one do you like?

Good night.

- Good morning, Miss. - Good morning, Miss.

What are your names? How adorable!

Let's go home.

- Xixi, isn't it? - Hi, Ma'am.

Xixi, you're well known in our neighborhood.

Why?

I heard you married Yin Sichen.

Did you bring him back?

Ma'am, this is him.

I have to tell you, I've never seen a big boss in flesh.

How good-looking he is!

So charming!

So attractive!

- Xixi. - How wonderful!

- A boss in flesh. - Xixi.

Wonderful! Good for you!

- Ma'am. - Good for you!

Mo, you're back.

Why are you here?

Why I keep seeing you everywhere?

It's destiny.

So you know each other?

Not really.

I have to go now. Come for dinner when you're free.

- The ribs I cook are just tasty. - All right, Ma'am.

- Come for dinner. - Sure.

Promise me.

For sure.

- Let's go. - Goodbye, Miss.

Senior Mo, what a coincidence.

Xixi, what brought you back home?

Some family stuff. I'm back for a few days.

Thank you for asking the itinerary of my wife.

Xixi, let me know if you need help.

After all, I know this place better than Mr. Yin.

How shall I leave her errands to you?

Don't worry. It's all done.

We're friends. It's my pleasure to help.

We have to go now. Suit yourself, Mr. Mo.

I never found you're chicken before.

What's wrong?

You're his father-in-law. Go ask him for a favor.

You can't let him force you to pay it back.

What are you talking about?

Aren't they divorced already?

But that's still your daughter.

How does it help now?

What's your solution, then?

Let me think it over.

Hello.

Are you Miss Gu's father?

I am. Who are you?

I'm a journalist.

I'm here to ask you a few questions about Miss Gu's past.

- She's not my daughter. - Wait.

You'll be paid.

But it depends on how valuable your info is.

Please come to me anytime if you want. [Ran Xiwei]

- Let's go. - Wait.

Well, why does Mo Zixin still live here, like a haunting ghost?

You can't just let it go.

It's his hometown.

He comes back when he's free. What's the big deal?

And he gets along with neighbors very well.

- He's quite popular. - You are jealous.

Why am I jealous? He's just a sweet talker.

I can be one too.

- You're back. - Mom.

- Mom. - Yeah.

Is there anything I can help with?

It's fine. I can do it.

How naturally you call her Mom.

Did you get what I wanted?

Yes, Mom.

Another thing, Mom.

I've taken care of your divorce.

Why don't you stay at Meishan and open a new laundry shop?

I've found a place for the new shop.

And I bought new furniture and electronics.

They'll be delivered soon.

- Thank you, Sichen. - It's my pleasure.

You've spent so much time on it.

I know you two are both busy. You may get back to work.

It's fine. I've pulled things together.

I'll stay here with Xixi for a few more days.

When did I agree to that?

All right, all right. What do you want to eat? I'll cook.

Mom, why are you on his side?

Mom, you've been busy the whole day.

Why not leave it to Xixi?

You're right. Let her do it.

It's your turn to cook.

Okay. What do you want? I'll go shopping.

What do you want?

Let me go shopping with her.

I'm afraid she'll buy things that I don't like.

Mom, let's have yam and bitter lemon.

All right. It's your call.

Where is the soya sauce?

Where is it?

- What are you doing? - Getting soy sauce.

Why did you get so many?

One bottle for each type. It makes cooking easier.

It takes a long time to use up a bottle of soy sauce.

You don't need to buy a lot. Please have some common sense.

Well, I saw Madam Song buy every type of it.

My bad. Let me rephrase it.

Please have some knowledge of commoners, all right?

Which one shall we pick?

The cheapest one.

Cheap stuff sucks.

It's spending wisely. You don't get it.

Put them back on the shelf.

- Sichen, here. Have some more. - Thanks, Mom.

Mom, stop refilling his bowl. He won't eat.

- Why? - Here.

Mom was helping me. You are jealous.

Yes. I am. She didn't help me.

- All right, all right. Eggs for you. - Let me help you.

- Thanks, Mom. - Here.

Here.

I don't need your help. No, thanks.

If you don't accept my help, you are turning Mom down.

Mom, does it make any sense?

It makes every sense.

All right, go ahead.

- Mom, look at him. - Open your mouth.

All right, eat it.

Open your mouth.

Mom, help me.

All right. Some more eggs.

Look at you. Is it all right?

Mom, please put that in my bowl.

Okay.

Mr. Yin, a penny for your thoughts.

Do you feel like

we are a real…?

A real what?

We're like a real couple?

I've never had such a happy meal

with my dad and mom before.

Why?

You know we have lots of rules at home,

even strict table manners.

I've never felt like this.

Feel like commoners?

No.

It makes me feel calm

and secured.

It feels like a sweet home.

- Yin Sichen. - Yes?

I wouldn't have known what to do

if it hadn't been you, these days.

Thanks for being here.

It's no big deal.

I'm sleepy.

Lend me your shoulder.

You just waste your time on drawing.

Why did you come home so late?

I just finished after-school classes.

Well,

if there's anything that upsets you, you may talk to me.

How can I be upset?

But you... Don't keep everything to yourself.

It will make you get sick.

In fact, you can tell me. I can share it with you.

I…

May I talk about everything with you?

If you feel embarrassed, you may draw it.

Follow me.

You may draw here.

It'll be our message board.

If we share it together, you won't feel so sad.

No matter what happens, I'll be there with you.

I said I'll be there with you.

I'll help you no matter what.

Even if

you're in love with him.

Mom, have you seen my diary?

Look for it carefully. Is it in the box?

The lowest one?

What are you looking for?

Let me help you.

My diary.

Diary.

- Let me look. - Don't.

- Yin Sichen. - Gu Xixi, is it you when you were little?

No. It's not.

You were chased by a dog?

It's not a dog. It's a fierce dog.

A dangerous and fierce dog.

A fierce dog?

Wasn't it you who stole persimmons and got beaten by the owner's dog?

Mom, why did you say it?

Gu Xixi, you stole persimmons?

Shame on you.

None of your business. Give it back.

Beg me.

I beg you.

I didn't say I'll give it back if you do.

Xixi.

Yin Sichen.

Xixi, open the door.

Let me get the door.

Here you are.

Stop.

There's nothing you can help here.

Mr. Yin, you misunderstood me.

I'm just passing by.

And, you should be confident about yourself.

I just don't want to see your face.

I'm not here to visit you.

Mo Zixin, I need to warn you.

Stay away from Gu Xixi. She's my wife.

But I'm her schoolmate,

shareholder and idol.

Zixin.

Why are you here?

I just swing by to visit your mom.

Mo Zixin, you…

Mo is here.

- Have you eaten dinner yet? - Not yet.

Okay, then. Come join us.

All right, thanks.

Come join us.

Thanks, Mom.

One more soup and we're done.

Mom, let me cook it.

No. You stay here with them.

Help yourselves.

- Thanks, Ma'am. - No problem.

Thanks, Mom.

Let's get started.

Here, try this.

That's too oily.

Try this.

That's my favorite.

I didn't know you liked it.

If I knew earlier, I'll help you.

This garlic. This one.

It looks yummy. Take it.

This pepper, I'm sure you'll like it.

Can I just have some eggs?

- I'll help. - I'll help.

Enough, that's enough.

Stop.

Look at the connection between you two.

- Excuse me? - Excuse me?

[Xinhongji Real Estate]

- Please help me fax it. - Okay.

Are you coming back for the meeting?

Please call it off.

I'll be busy tomorrow.

Never mind.

Let's have the meeting as planned.

It's my secret sanctuary back then.

I drew sad and happy things on the wall.

Are these all your drawings?

Not really.

Also…

Mo Zixin's.

So you grew up together.

Later, before I knew I was leaving, I drew a dandelion over there.

It means I'm leaving.

- What are you doing? - Stay away.

[Stay away]

Yin Sichen!

It's running late.

I should go.

Wait.

What?

Just sit.

Sit down.

Would you like to move in?

- What do you mean? - You left me every night like Cinderella,

without leaving a glass slipper.

You mean you want to…

Yes. Would you?

- Are you serious? - I am.

Are you prepared?

It's all set. I asked the cleaner to clean the closet.

You can move in anytime.

I can go get your luggage.

All right. Answer my questions first.

They're top reasons for breakups after living together.

I must make sure we won't have such problems when we live together.

Okay.

I'll say each question first,

we give our answers at the same time.

Firsth question.

Which side of the bed do you sleep on?

- Left. - Left.

I mean if you sleep on the right side, I can sleep on the left.

If you choose the left side, I can sleep on the right.

If you move in, I can even sleep on the floor.

Second question.

Do you shower at night or in the morning?

I remember she showered in the morning last time.

- In the morning. - At night.

I can't bear sleeping without showering.

Third question.

Do you sleep with the light on or off?

- On. - Off.

Come on. I…

Okay. The last one.

Do you prefer sweet or salty jellied tofu?

The last chance.

- Sweet. - Salty.

Look. It's obvious.

Living together is not good for us.

I… I can change.

Even if you do, I don't want people to change their habits for me.

Otherwise, we'll both be stressed out.

I feel like we are not ready to live together for now.

Let's give it some time, okay?

Good boy.

I need to go.

Be careful.

Bye.

Gu Xixi, don't you think you're not acting like a good wife

which will make people suspicious?

Really? What did I do?

Look at her.

Just help with your clothes.

I can also do that.

You'll wear a tie for me every day, Mrs. Yin.

Don't you know how to do it?

Why are you asking me to wear your tie when you can do it by yourself?

Are you giving me a hard time?

You have to act like it's real.

Yin Sichen, don't push me too hard.

All right, no more teasing.

♫ Ah yeah ♫

♫ Is there someone that can make me like and care for him? Oh, yes ♫

Aren't you going to the office? Go. Don't be late.

Go ahead.

- I'm leaving. - Okay.

Have a good day at home.

I'll take you somewhere after work.

Okay. You need to go.

It's closed. Can we get in?

Didn't you want to go on it with me?

But it's been long abandoned.

I guess it won't work.

Is it the Ferris wheel that you always wanted to get on?

It is.

You didn't open it.

Open it now.

Actually, I already did.

It took me hours to find it in the fountain.

I was almost mistaken as a thief.

You have two options now.

One, keep it safe as a memory.

Two, put it in the slot.

Turn on the wheel

to make it up

and open a new life.

Is... The coin invalid?

Looks like even that is afraid of you.

Let's go.

The keeper didn't give me much time.

How beautiful!

The views up here are exactly the same as I imagined.

When I was little,

I thought it wouldn't be fun to get on it when I grow up.

It turns out the opposite.

What you can see from here is different.

Yin Sichen.

Thank you.

In fact,

I should say thank you.

There are things I want to tell you.

Since you came to my home,

I've slept sound every night.

When you were not around,

I became restless.

When you were sad, I also became upset.

When you were happy,

it made me happy too.

I…

I love you.

♫ Like a shooting star passing by, the night sky is lit up ♫

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

What did you say?

♫ The road twist and turns, but the light sparkles ♫

I said

I love you.

I. Love.

- You. - I.

I. Love. You.

Shall I not reply to that for now?

♫ Firm without affection ♫

You may take your time.

Just enjoy the views now.

♫ It's me who loves you, like a fairy tale coming true ♫

[Jiangbei | 3 days later]

- Xixi. - Yes?

I'll pack up my things and go back to the old house tomorrow.

You stay here with Sichen.

Mom, why are you leaving?

Don't you want me to stay with you?

I know you care about me.

But I can't let you and Sichen be affected because of me.

I don't feel safe leaving you alone.

Mom, let me go to Meishan and stay with you for a few more days.

All right.

Sichen is a good boy.

He is kind and considerate.

Xixi. To be honest,

I wasn't determined to divorce your dad

because I was afraid your life will fall apart.

But now you have Sichen.

Why am I talking about that?

From now on, we'll live happily ever after.

All right.

[Meishan]

Ma'am, let me help you.

Mo, you're here.

It's a little heavy. Be careful.

It's fine.

Come on.

I'm sorry, Ma'am. I'm sorry.

It's fine. This is Xixi's box.

It's already broken. Don't worry.

- I'm sorry, so sorry. - It's okay.

She's afraid her dad would toss it away.

So she kept it in my shop.

Here it is.

Is there anything special about it?

She didn't say much.

Put it up there.

- Come on. - Okay.

She just told me

it's a gift from someone important to her.

Look. There's no empty space.

But she didn't want to throw it away.

Once she was cleaning the room, but couldn't find it.

She cried for a long time.

Thank you, Zixin.

Someone important.

Ma'am, this pad is so dear to her.

I'll go back soon. Why don't you let me give it to her?

That's great. I'm sure she'll be thrilled to see it.

That's great!

"It's your birthday tomorrow. Please make time for me.

9 PM tomorrow, at Fisherman's Wharf I'll meet you there.

Because I want to know your answer."

Why shall I listen to you?

Make an appointment first, okay?

Hi, Zixin.

I'm at the cafe outside.

Are you free to meet up?

Okay. I'll be there soon.

Zixin.

Zixin, is it my old drawing pad?

Yes.

I went back to Meishan today.

Your mom was sorting things out and she found it.

She said it's important to you.

So I brought it back.

My goodness.

I didn't know I would find it again.

Zixin, I didn't break my promise.

I am a designer now.

You are awesome.

I remember, when you gave it to me,

you encouraged me to keep drawing.

If it wasn't for your words, I may not become a designer.

It's not just for cheering you up.

I am a selfish person.

I wanted to leave something

in your heart when I left.

So when you look at it again,

you'll think of me.

Zixin. You...

When I met you for the first time,

I couldn't help staring at you.

Even for one more glance.

The story of Nianxi is actually about you.

Well. You may hug me.

[Book Signing, author: Nianxi]

What do you mean?

Zixin.

Are you Nianxi?

You know what?

You like drawing.

So I want to do the same thing.

Then I can get closer to you.

My comic stories

are the things I want to tell you.

Zixin. I…

Sichen and I are…

I know. I know it.

You have a contract with him.

I can wait till it is expired,

till you're free, if you can give me one more chance.

You don't have to answer me now.

[No.332, Jinchen North Street, Jiangbei]

The night of your birthday,

I'll wait there for you.

Zixin. I…

[No.332, Jinchen North Street, Jiangbei]

What? Mo Zixin is Nianxi?

And both of them asked you for dinner on your birthday one after another?

Oh my god!

Don't get excited.

Nianxi, Nianxi. It means "Miss Xixi"?

How touching it is!

But he was late. You already have Sichen.

I… I'm not sure about that.

We haven't confirmed our relations.

Don't you love him?

- I do. - So?

But I'm not sure if it's a fling

or If he is the one I can spend my life with.

Let me help you.

[Yin: Pros cons Mo: Pros cons]

How to make sure if he is the right one?

Just fill these columns.

The answer will be there.

Pros and cons.

Let's start from Yin Sichen.

Sarcastic.

People in his position are sarcastic.

- Bossy, arrogant. - Arrogant.

- Narcissist. - Narcissist.

Proud, mean.

Childish, unromantic.

That's too many cons.

It looks like in your eyes, his cons are just endless.

Now the pros.

Pros.

Pros...

I can't think of any.

Let's turn to Mo Zixin's pros.

Polite, gentle.

Tender, elegant.

Considerate, very nice to people.

He likes helping others and never asks anything back.

The answer is very obvious.

The answer is very obvious.

But I don't need an answer now.

All I think about Yin Sichen are his cons.

But I don't know from which moment,

all his cons

became the sweetest and brightest part

of my memory.

I think that's what love is.

All you see about him are cons, but you still have feelings for him.

I'll see you off now.

All right, Mr. Yin.

Goodbye.

Well, well, I just see you everywhere.

Isn't Xixi with you?

Please send my regards to her.

I'll invite her to dinner tomorrow.

Mo Zixin, Gu Xixi is my wife.

Please respect the fact that she's married.

Is it written in your contract that

she's not allowed to dine with others?

What do you mean?

Don't worry.

I never confirmed with Xixi.

I don't plan to leak it.

What do you want?

I won't dig out why you did this.

But I need to tell you.

A contracted marriage will end up some day.

And I'll wait until that day.

How much longer will it take, please?

It's jammed. I'm not sure.

It may take a while, maybe 30 minutes.

You may finish the order. I'm getting off now.

Right here?

Yeah. It's fine.

Be careful.

[LOVE]

Mr. Yin, we'll be closed soon.

What about…?

- Let's wait. - We can wait till 10 pm.

If your guest has not arrived before that,

there's nothing we can help.

Okay. I got it.

Zixin.
