- Gosh. - No way.

We were just able to watch a series of performances...

by the leading fourth-generation K-pop girl groups...

which got us to see them in a new light.

Watching their performance in person...

made me realize why they have been leading the recent K-pop trend.

The 2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon...

is being brought to 130 countries worldwide,

including the United States, Japan,

countries in Europe, the Middle East, Oceania, South East Asia.

The 2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon.

Are you enjoying the show?

- Yes! - Yes!

Are you having fun?

- Yes! - Yes!

It seems that way.

The weather outside is alarmingly cold,

but things are heating up here at the Gocheok Sky Dome.

Just like the love we're getting today,

K-culture was widely enjoyed all throughout 2022.

K-culture was supported in many different fields...

with K-drama series and K-movies being at the heart of it.

Absolutely.

Eun Woo, you were busy this year not just as an artist but as an actor too.

Why do you personally think...

that you are loved by fans all around the world?

Maybe the diversity I show?

I apologize for that.

Please don't. It was only a joke.

I'm sure everyone agrees with that.

It was a joke on my end, but thank you anyway.

K-drama series and K-movies are loved around the world...

because of the way they mix fantasy with reality...

while portraying detailed emotions and touching our hearts.

K-pop is also a key element in TV shows and movies...

as the songs add drama.

That's right. You know how it is.

Certain songs have you picturing popular scenes from popular shows.

Is there perhaps a soundtrack that comes to mind?

Of course.

There are two soundtracks that I love more than anything.

- One is "If" by Taeyeon. - I see.

And the other one is the song you sang yourself.

- "Love Sailing" from the movie "Decibel." - You're too kind.

If it's not too much trouble, could we perhaps hear a snippet of it?

Where am I headed?

Gradually, the darkness

Thank you.

There seems to be nothing that you can't do.

Gosh, you're too kind.

Out of all the soundtracks that were released this year,

one from an SBS drama series was widely loved.

A performance of it was put together exclusively for the 2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon.

Let us be immersed in the emotions right away.

Sounds great. The live,

- shout out. - Shout out.

(Song Kang Ho wins Best Actor.)

("Broker")

("Decision to Leave")

("Squid Game")

(K-movies and K-drama series were widely loved around the world in 2022.)

Hello,

I was able to greet you this year in TV series "Why Her?"...

"Cheer Up," and the movie "Ditto."

I'm Bae In Hyuk. Hello, everyone.

Hello, I was able to greet you in 2022 in the TV series "Our Beloved Summer."

I'm Roh Jeong Eui.

Hi.

I was able to greet you in 2022...

in the TV series "A Business Proposal" and "Today's Webtoon."

I'm Kim Se Jeong.

Music plays an important role in TV drama series and movies.

(K-pop songs make an appearance in K-movies and K-drama series.)

(What are some of the songs that the actors remember?)

A scene from a movie or TV show that features a song I remember?

In "You Who Came From the Stars,"

when they would kiss...

You are my destiny

That song was played in the background.

(Se Jeong chooses "My Destiny" from "You Who Came From the Stars.")

The song "Rain and You" is played in the movie "Radio Star."

During the last scene, the actors dance.

The addition of that song added depth to the scene...

and made it even more emotional.

It's not a series that aired recently,

but I remember "A Reason" from "Secret Garden"...

that played during the sit-up scene.

That scene just popped into my head.

(It makes her heart skip a beat.)

(Jeong Eui chooses "A Reason" from "Secret Garden.")

Thanks to that one song,

you remember the scene and then the series.

The emotions you felt when you watched it come rushing back as well.

It's why I believe that soundtracks play a huge role.

In emotional scenes, the music that plays in the background...

deepens those emotions and adds drama.

The songs bring out more emotions upon those delivered by lines.

It lets the viewers get immersed in the show.

(Music, by itself, is just like drama series and movies.)

A special performance awaits you at this very moment.

(A song that was widely loved this year)

This is for you to enjoy!

("Love, Maybe" by Lia of ITZY, original song by MeloMance)

- Hello. - Hello.

I'm Choi Woong.

I'm Kook Yeon Soo.

In 1, 2, 3.

- We're married. - We're married.

("Christmas Tree" by 10cm, original song by V)

Gayo Daejeon.

Make some noise!

("DNA" by TOMORROW X TOGETHER, original song by BTS)

Gosh, they are the bomb!

Who are those dashing young men?

Gosh, don't you recognize TOMORROW X TOGETHER?

That's not acceptable. By the way, what's your name?

Wait. I know them.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER, also known as TXT.

I know the group. It's this guy who's clueless.

No one thought otherwise.

It's these cute friends who didn't know better.

That's right.

What are the names of these cute friends though?

I'm Hojong.

I'm Kawoo.

And I'm Mugo.

These three friends...

are the mascots of the Korea Tourism Organization.

The upcoming 2023 and 2024...

were announced as the years for visiting Korea.

Look forward to the fun these guys will bring.

Korea is a country with beautiful sights to see.

It will be nice for many to enjoy the scenery...

as well as Korean culture.

Promise us, guys.

Promise us.

A variety of special performances still await us,

so please stay tuned to 2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon.

- Promise. - Promise.

That's great. Let's keep enjoying the performances, then.

The live...

- Shout out. - Shout out.

How nice.

(There were two boys who shared a dream.)

(Time went by,)

(and the two boys went their own ways to fulfill their dreams.)

(Did their dreams come true?)

It's something I liked...

and I wanted to do well,

so I practiced until after midnight.

There were a lot of hardships along the way,

and it didn't work out exactly how I wanted it to...

which only made me anxious.

Never did I want to give up.

Because it was something I loved.

This was my dream which is why I was able...

to get back on the horse again.

(The two boys kept reaching for the stars.)

Hi, I'm figure skater Cha Jun Hwan.

Hi, I'm Sunghoon of ENHYPEN.

(Sunghoon at 13, Jun Hwan at 14)

The Cha Jun Hwan I remember...

had a lot of talent...

and was quite the dancer.

I got to meet him again not as a figure skater...

but as a member of a K-pop boy band,

and I'm proud to see that he has reached his goal.

(They overcame all the hardships...)

(and made their dreams come true.)

I was able to reach my goal which was to debut as a singer,

but I still need to work harder.

It's my goal to improve my skills...

and show people what I'm now capable of.

I'm still fulfilling my dream so that I can reach my goal.

(On their separate paths,)

(they have bloomed.)

(However, their story isn't over yet.)

("Black Swan" by Sunghoon of ENHYPEN and Cha Jun Hwan, original song by BTS)

(K-sports lit a fire in our hearts in the year 2022.)

It's a gold!

(South Korea, the leading nation in short-track speed skating)

(The first Korean male figure skater...)

(to finish 5th in the Olympics)

Eleven years later after Park Tae Hwan...

(A new Asian record in 100m freestyle was set after 69 years.)

At the World Athletics Championships, high jumper Woo Sang Hyuk...

(He set the Korean record at high jumping.)

Son Heung Min!

- That's it. Yes! - Go!

(Advancing to the round of 16 in the World Cup event...)

(for the first time in 12 years)

We advance to the round of 16!

We're back to playing in the tournament!

(Thanks to you, we had a rich and happy year.)

ATEEZ's first TV performance of their new act...

only added more depth to today's show.

The 2022 SBS Gayo Daejeon is brought to you live.

All that was left is the final performance of Part Two.

And from what I hear, it's just as special.

For some reason, time is flying by today.

I want to stop the clock so that I can enjoy this time with you.

- I know. - Tell me about it.

But Yu Jin, don't worry since Part Three still awaits us.

Astonishing performances will be on display in Part Three,

and we still haven't been able to enjoy the special performance you put together.

- That's right. - Right?

So how about this for a teaser?

While I'm absent,

someone special will host the show on my behalf.

I'm a huge fan, so it's sad that I'll be absent for it.

It'll be the talk of the town.

- Absolutely. - Exactly.

The final performance of Part Two awaits us.

But this time around,

I wanted the audience to join us when we say "The live, shout out,"

so I thought we could practice.

- Sounds good. - When I say, "The live,"

you will say "Shout out."

Got it?

- Yes. - Yes.

- Nice. - Thanks for that.

How about a practice run?

- Okay. - Here we go.

The live.

- Shout out. - Shout out.

That would be more than enough.

- Right. - I want them to be louder.

Louder?

Let's try that once again, then.

Together. The live.

- Shout out. - Shout out.

How was that?

- That was great. - I approve.

That was slightly louder.

This time around, it'll be the real deal.

Let us bring out the next artist to perform.

Together. The live.

- Shout out. - Shout out.
