Excuse us, sorry.

1, 2, 3, Cheese!

Write your phone and license number down.

ID Card.

For the girls as well

They're children. Why would they have them?

Just hurry up.

This one looks pretty!

You're prettier than me, you have that wig!

Give them to me! No way!

Who is it?

Coming! Coming!

Your beer.

Midterms are coming soon.

Everyone should go home and study, rather than goof off.

Watch less TV and read more of your textbooks.

The students who brought the grade down last time,

need to try harder this time.

Okay. Class dismissed.

Meng Xiaowen!

The sleepyhead is late again.

Beat it!

You're always late.

Meng Xiaowen, come here.

Tell me, whose fault is it today?

It's my fault.

She slept over last night. I forgot to set an alarm.

Your mom didn't come back home again?

I've been lenient. Tomorrow I'm calling your parents to the school.

As for you,

Do you want to go to a good school?

You're always with her.

Teacher, I was wrong.

Fine. I want you both to hand in apology letters tomorrow.

Don't copy each other.

Thank you, Ma'am.

Meng Xiaowen.

Erase the blackboard.

Meng Xiaowen, late again.

I brought some ice from third period.

She said that if you eat this every month, your stomach won't hurt.

Xiaowen.

Our pictures. They were uploaded to the group.

Delete that! -Say what?

The picture of me! -I don't have it.

It's in the group chat, let me delete it.

No way, why would I give it to you?

Give it to me.

No fighting! Let's not fight.

Teacher come quick! They're fighting.

What are you two doing?

She grabbed my phone.

Get up!

She didn't grab it.

All of you get back inside.

Meng Xiaowen, stand up.

Li Li.

16 bedsheets and 19 towels.

Write down 28 towels.

You can drink it.

It's almost Qingming festival. Why is business so slow?

You think that's bad?

Wait for Golden Week.

That beach out front will be crawling with people. It's death.

What about Mr Jian? Is it fun?

What do you mean fun?

A new earring?

Pretty, right?

It tickles.

It's super pretty.

Mr Jian treats you well.

Jian? He's too cheap to pay for this stuff.

Jian asked me...

He asked if you were inexperienced.

He said that if you were

he could help you find someone too.

What did you say?

Me? That I didn't know what you wanted.

Come in.

Go there.

Take your leggings off.

Sit on the bed.

Come, lie down. A little lower.

There is good. Don't move.

Doctor.

Just rest. Don't be afraid.

Zhang Xin Xin.

Come in please.

Meng Xiaowen.

Don't hit her!

Why do you care if I hit her?

Why would you hit a kid?

Who should I hit then? Should I hit you?

Just leave. I'll call the godfather over and beat him.

Don't be that way. I think that everyone here

should calm down.

He's your old supervisor.

You made him her godfather because you wanted to suck up to him.

What a great godfather he turned out to be.

You should watch what you say! -What should I say then?

You're a horrible father

Who would give their own daughter that kind of godfather?

Watch your words!

-I'll say whatever I want to say

If you're going to fight, please take it outside.

Will both parents please come inside?

Xiaowen, I'm sorry.

I told my mom.

They kept asking me and I had to tell.

You even told them that it was my idea.

I was afraid of her hitting me.

I'm really sorry.

What's a hymen?

What's your name?

Xiao Mi.

Let me see some ID.

I lost it.

Lost it or don't have one?

Captain Wang!

Don't scare her like that, she's my little sister.

He's just here to ask some questions.

A man brought two schoolgirls 3 nights ago and booked a room.

3 nights ago?

Jian was looking for me that night.

It was my shift that night

The next day you were supposed to clean, right?

Yeah.

Where were you then?

I was... cleaning the courtyard.

Did you see them then?

I didn't.

I was cleaning the one in the back.

Captain Wang, the video record only goes back to yesterday afternoon.

Captain Wang, the system wipes itself after 48 hours.

It'd be better if you came early.

How old is your system? You should upgrade it.

Upgrade it? Who has the money for that right?

You can't complain. You're rich.

Not at all. Here, look, we're close.

Every month a new motel pops up.

Just came?

I did. Everyone calls me Xiao Li.

Don't hit it, Captain Wang. That wallpaper is new.

This room is very clean. I can't even find a hair.

Of course it is. We take our cleaning duties very seriously.

Did you find anything strange while cleaning?

Any condoms?

None.

What about bloodstains or dirty towels?

Think carefully. Don't lie.

Any empty beer cans?

They ordered beer?

The record says that room 307 ordered 4 beers.

Was there any?

Let me think...

Yes.

How many?

4 cans.

Are you sure?

I'm sure.

Hurry up.

Move faster will you?

This is too much

- Not at all.

Captain Wang, your gift is in the trunk.

Don't forget. Just add black bean sauce and peppers. It's good.

You two.

Did you find a blond wig?

No.

Drive.

Take care, Captain Wang.

Take care, Captain Wang.

Take care, take care.

Boss!

Both of you go squat over there.

Didn't you hear me the first time?

Tell me the truth.

Who was on duty that day?

You don't want to talk?

Don't make me fire you.

I made her do it.

You were slacking right?

No sir. A friend from my hometown came over.

Are you remarrying?

Boss!

I promise not to do it again.

You!

Where's your ID card?

It's, it's at my hometown.

It's been months! Who are you trying to fool?

Fine. You don't have ID but you're fine with checking other people's ID?

You're lucky that the police sent that dumb fool today.

You're laughing? What's so funny?

Boss, my makeup!

Who cares about your makeup?

You just look like a witch anyways.

You even tried to seduce the policemen.

Let me see you try that again huh?

If you don't get your ID card by the end of the month

I don't ever want to see you again.

In the future, if someone has a problem, tell me immediately.

You work your shifts. You clean the rooms. Is that clear?

Don't screw up.

This is a very simple question.

Where were you that night?

Does any of that matter?

Of course it does.

Were you waiting in the house? Did you call her?

What did you talk about?

It all matters.

She never came home. Where I was doesn't matter.

What if she knew you weren't home, so she didn't come back?

You're saying that this was my fault?

I didn't mean that.

What did you mean then?

As it stands...

Commissioner Liu denies entering Xiaowen's room.

Further, the motel's video system isn't of any use to the police.

We only have the child's wounds. It's insufficient.

We need evidence that he went into the room before we can arrest him.

Every detail counts.

I went dancing that night.

I came home at 2 am

and went to sleep soon after.

You didn't talk to her until after the school notified you?

What about her father?

That worthless fool only comes by once a year.

Xiao Mi, Jian is coming to pick me up. Can you lock the door?

I heard that you want to buy an ID.

You've found the guy.

You can help?

You're not a criminal right? Why don't you have an ID?

You can talk to me.

If you can't do it, just tell me.

I can do anything.

How much do you want?

Sister, talking about prices is vulgar.

Then forget it.

I was kidding.

10,000 RMB. Then I'll cook up a new ID for you.

Different name and birthday is ok?

I don't have that much money.

Of course.

But, not all things

need money to fix.

Okay.

See you around.

Speak. Zhang Xin Xin already confessed.

Talk.

We were drinking.

A little.

How much is a little?

One can or two?

The motel employees found 4 empty cans in the room the next day.

We can give you a urine test.

Find out how much you drank.

It's been too long. Her BAC won't be accurate.

Lawyer Hao, please don't interrupt my questioning.

I'm just stating the truth. You shouldn't lie to the child.

Lawyer Hao.

I, I need to go to the bathroom.

Come with me.

Captain Wang.

My daughter is just 12. She doesn't know how to drink. She's ju-

What don't today's children know how to do?

What do you mean by that?

Don't mean anything by it.

Just that we're all old and behind the times.

Behind?

Captain Wang. I want to ask you something.

You called Xiaowen in to give a second testimony.

I want to know why.

New evidence has come to light. Of course we'd repeat our questioning.

What new evidence? The number of beer cans?

This is important and she never mentioned it.

The child had a traumatic experience. Missing memories are normal.

This is more than a small detail.

Are you calling my daughter a liar?

I never said that.

Do you or do you not think that she's a liar?

You need believe us.

I believe you, do you trust me?

My daughter is the one who's been hurt here.

Why are you still interrogating her?

Why don't you arrest the bastard huh?

Why aren't you arresting Commisioner Liu?

Calm down please. I can't promise anything.

We need hard evidence to arrest someone.

Is it okay if I can check on the child?

Yeah.

I'm bringing the child. Come to my office and I'll explain it to you.

Don't be afraid. It's just us two now.

Auntie believes you. I need you to believe in Auntie.

We'll never lie to each other. Is that okay?

Tell Auntie. Why didn't you and Xin Xin go home that night?

We spent too long at karaoke.

I was afraid that Mama would beat me.

What present did her godfather give you?

Like clothes or jewelry?

Did he give you money?

Did he ever take you two to a motel before?

How much did you have to drink that night?

And you girls ordered the beer right? Not him?

Think carefully.

Other than the motel worker, did you meet anyone else that night?

Is that her?

Xiao Mi, where are you?

I'm in 305.

Where are you?

Xiao Mi.

What is it?

Someone here to see you.

Who?

She said she's the kids' Lawyer.

Wants whoever was on duty that night.

Weren't you the one on duty that night?

Be serious.

She knows it wasn't me. She kept on pestering me about it.

You should go hide. Don't let her see you.

I know the person that you're looking for.

But if you tell anyone that I talked, I'm going to get fired.

This is my number and address. I promise not to tell anyone.

Gimme 100 and I'll tell you.

I'll give you 50.

I subbed in for Li Li that night.

At around 11 o'clock,

a man brought over two girls and rented two rooms.

One room for the man, the other for the girls.

I have one more question.

What is it?

How did you know that the man and the girls were in different rooms?

The surveillance video.

Why were you watching the video?

It just happened.

It wasn't because it felt off?

What felt off?

A local license plate. The lack of luggage.

Bringing two underage girls along. None of it was off?

It's not unheard of. It wasn't weird.

Later then. Did he enter the girls rooms?

Nope.

Did you hear anything wrong? Knocking, or a voice, or screams?

Wasn't any.

What about the beer?

Yeah. The girls ordered some beers.

When you delivered the beer, was the man in the room?

He wasn't.

Are you sure?

It was only the two girls.

When did the man check out on the next day?

I'm not on duty in the morning. I don't know.

How old are you? -Eighteen.

You look no older than fifteen.

I turn eighteen this year.

Let me see your ID then.

I'm done answering your questions.

If you remember anything else, call me.

Will you pay me?

I'll repay you.

If you tell anyone else about what I said, I'll deny it.

You remembered to come back.

Who did you meet?

Aunt Li, Uncle Wang.

What did Aunt Li want?

I told her that you were sick.

What did she say?

She says they're learning a new dance and to come when you get better.

Do you wish that I was actually sick?

Look at you.

You're slowly turning into your father.

Glare at me again.

Look at how you turned out.

Ma, what are you doing?

You can't wear any of this anymore.

Wear this again, I dare you!

Let go! Let go!

And why is your hair like that every day?

Come with me. Come here.

Get in here.

Papa.

Papa.

A special guest. Come on over.

Girl.

Pour her a drink.

Hand it over!

Hand it over.

Sit down first little girl.

Li Li. Come here. Lemme introduce you to the boss.

Boss Huang, Li Li.

Sit, sit.

Drink with him for a bit okay?

Come on, drink.

Don't hog the drinks.

Give it.

Made you jump.

Tell me where this came from, then I'll give it back.

It's mine.

Don't lie.

Everyone knows your motel is under investigation.

You were on duty that night, right?

This wig is the girls' wig right?

What did you see?

Nothing.

And the surviellance system?

Erased in the morning.

To fool who?

That manager is shady. I don't get it.

Someone who can open up a seaside motel

doesn't know how much they've spent.

Is he asking for trouble?

He must have hidden the video.

All you need to do is give me that video.

What are you saying?

Information.

Info equals money.

You know something I don't. I know something others don't.

It's money.

It's more than that 35 RMB you struggle for.

Get it?

Is that enough?

Call your mother. Tell her to pick you up in the afternoon.

Didn't we agree that you'd go home after tonight?

Are you going to listen to me?

If you won't call her, I will.

Where are you running off to?

Why can't you just call your ma?

Say something.

Do you sell SIM cards?

Do you sell SIM cards?

Do you want one under your name or a fake name?

What?

Using your real name requires ID, the fake one is more expensive.

The fake one then.

Regular number or a lucky number?

What's the difference?

Regular numbers are 50. Lucky ones are at least 100.

A regular number.

Li Li.

What happened?

Nothing.

Is it because of me?

It really isn't?

It wasn't your fault.

It was that boss right?

Did Jian not do anything?

Him?

He only recognizes money.

Use this. It'll reduce the swelling.

I can take over if you need a break.

I have video of you entering the girl's room.

Give me 10,000 RMB and I won't give it to the police.

Stop dragging your feet, open up.

Quiet down, it's late.

Just open the damn door.

I'm here to pick her up.

I can't let you do that.

What do you mean?

Why did she run away?

I don't need to explain myself to you.

She says she doesn't want to go home.

You've set her against me, haven't you?

She told me that herself.

I'm her guardian, I have the final word.

Why are you so upset?

-Will you open the door or not?

If you don't, I'll call the cops.

Meng Tao!

When did you start smoking?

I quit.

She really doesn't want to go home with me?

What did she tell you?

Both of you...

bottle everything inside.

When you get to the end of 28th st- I walk down 19th.

Come back right after school ends. - I know!

Move out of the way Miss.

Xiaowen!

Xiaowen!

Go away! Just go away!

Xiaowen.

It's okay. It's okay.

Rest assured.

We use Korean nano-surgery techniques.

The surgery's effects are very lifelike.

It could even fool a gynecologist's tests.

Our surgery takes about half an hour.

Believe me. It doesn't hurt at all.

What's more, our prices are very reasonable.

We're much more affordable than a standard hospital out there.

Why don't you think it over?

Careful.

Let's drink one more.

They told you to not drink at all. You drank too much.

Careful.

The doctor said that I could still give birth.

I wanna give birth to a son. Drag Jian over here.

I'll call him the father in front of everyone.

He'd definitely piss himself.

Let's go inside first.

Jian.

I... Your ancestors...

I won't be a woman when I'm reborn.

Won't be a woman again.

Don't cry.

Look, this is the sea.

Why can't I see anything out there?

Here, listen.

I remember you saying that

the man wasn't here when you delivered the beer.

You're sure?

I'm sure.

And the girls never left this room. Right?

This door was slightly ajar.

Right.

So you could only see part of the room in the mirror then.

How can you be so sure that he wasn't in the room?

He wasn't in the room.

You're not wrong.

But why are you sure?

It's because you know that he wasn't in the room at that time.

You saw him come in later. Am I right?

I don't know what you're saying.

How many rooms do you clean in one day?

What else do you do, besides cleaning rooms?

Clean dishes, take out the trash, whatever no one else wants to do.

What's your monthly pay?

Why're you asking?

It can't be more than 600 RMB right?

But these rooms cost 700 or more a night.

It's more than you make a month.

Think about it.

Girls who could afford rooms like this

would never need your help.

You should go.

Look at this first.

Take a good look at this girl.

This was her after she ran away from home. Sleeping on the streets.

Put yourself in her shoes.

What if something similar happened to you

and everyone refused to help?

That'll never happen to me.

Can you give this to Commissioner Liu for me?

It's mail from his office.

Okay.

I'm gonna get there first!

I won!

Again, again! -Alright.

Meng Tao. Come here for a second.

Xiaowen, Papa is going to come right back ok?

Mr. Sun

What's the meaning of this?

It's self explanatory. It's a letter of commitment.

I don't get it.

It's so you don't spread rumors.

Your daughter's case... a lot of people are following it.

The investigation needs time. Plus, Captain Wang...

isn't incompetent.

The papers already interviewed me. I just told them the truth.

Told them what truth? Where you there when it happened?

What if you misspoke? You can't mislead the public.

Me? Mislead?

All appeals related to the case should be expressed through legal channels.

Nothing I did was illegal.

So why in the hell do I have to sign this?

I won't sign it.

Meng Tao. Just wait. Let me tell you this.

Don't give me anymore trouble okay?

I let you and her live here even though it's illegal.

But if you don't sign this, I'll have to evict you.

Manager.

It's your salary for the month.

You're fired.

But why sir? -You know why.

But I don't understand.

Want me to check the security feeds?

She's a Lawyer! She made me do it.

What did she want?

She just wanted to look around.

And then... And then she asked me some questions.

I, I didn't say anything. It's true sir. I swear.

What do you want? Do you want me to fail? Is that it?

The motel is closed down. Are you happy?

You let that Lawyer into room 307.

And then a bunch of idiots came trying to smash up the place.

Said that I was hiding evidence.

Is it worth it for me to be hiding evidence?

I've been here for 12 years. I've never seen anything like this.

I'm leaving in two days.

I left you some stuff underneath my bed.

You should apologize to the boss. He might let you stay.

I won't apologize.

Little brat. You still don't understand.

You! You need to stay.

You can make the front desk one day.

I'm undocumented.

I can't make front desk.

When do you close?

7:30.

When do you take out the trash?

At night.

I'm not too sure.

So this is where this goes.

There's a trumpet over there.

A trumpet?

C'mon, I'll take you.

Look, it's there.

It's huge!

This school, Xingfu, it's a top private school.

Their teachers are all top notch.

It's a guarunteed path to college for our kids.

A private school?

Tuition is expensive.

But I think it's worth it to take her there.

He attacked our daughter. It's only right for him to make amends.

He's going to prison. Our children won't have anything

and we can't force him to pay.

Wait, wait.

Are you saying that we shouldn't sue him?

It's just a suggestion. We can discuss it.

As for me... I agree.

You should be honest.

Commisioner Liu wants to give this to Xiaowen.

He wants us to stop investigating.

He'll pay for their tuition from now on.

He had too much to drink that day, and wasn't himself.

But now, he's repentant and hopes

that this is enough

to make amends.

Is this just?

It's never that simple.

After he gets out of prison, he'll relapse into his old ways.

But what about our kids?

Gossip will follow them for the rest of their lives.

We need to do what's best for them.

So clumsy.

Aiya, it's so tall.

Meng Xiao Wen.

Zhang Xin Xin.

Let's see who can scream louder ok?

Jian.

Whaddya want?

Where'd you get this?

Doesn't matter. I want my ID.

Did you steal it?

I can't take stolen money.

It's not stolen!

Where then?

Does that matter? I have 10,000.

You agreed to help me get an ID.

How much?

10,000 RMB.

10,000 isn't enough.

I'd need at least 16,000.

You said 10,000 before though!

When did I say that?

Do you know how many people ask me for this?

You tricked me!

Ah little girl.

You can't talk to me like that.

I'm older.

Miss, can I borrow your phone?

Why?

I need to call my family.

I covered the bills.

You can stay for a bit.

My business card.

Turn it over.

The footage is in the motel computer.

This is the folder it's in.

I promise to repay you. What do you want?

You already paid the bills.

We're even.

You can't go back to the motel. What are you going to do?

Do you want to go home?

Do you still want to know how old I am?

I don't even know my own birthday.

All I know is...

that I was born in summer.

I turn

sixteen this summer.

I ran away from home three years ago.

This is the fifteenth place that I've been in.

I like it here.

The weather is nice.

Even a beggar

can sleep well at night.

I don't have anywhere else to go.

I'll stay here.

Where did you get this video?

I can't tell you.

I can make a guess.

You've seen it.

Has Xiaowen seen it?

Yes.

And she can identify this man as Commissioner Liu?

Yes.

It's important evidence.

You have enough to arrest him now.

We'll do it posthaste. We'll have Xiaowen testify tommorow.

I'll take my leave.

Lawyer Hao.

How many years is enough?

About ten years. Why?

It's always cases like this. Ever think about doing something else?

What we do is important.

Admirable. I respect that.

Let's go?

C'mon.

It's very pretty. Are these imported?

No, they're all domestically made.

When's it opening?

On Children's Day.

Didn't the police check the motel footage?

That's not important.

She just needs to do another test first.

We asked an specialist to come in from the capital.

We already did a test. Why do we need another?

The last test was rushed.

This is just procedure. I hope you'll understand.

Here, change into this.

Xiaowen.

Here.

Just relax, okay?

Doctor Zhao.

Today...

we specifically invited

three chief doctors of the Provincial People's Hospital

to help us understand what happened on March 28th.

The two schoolgirls are currently being examined a second time

I'll hand the floor over to Doctor Xu of the Provincial People's Hospital now

to explain the results of the investigation.

A group of experts from the Binhai Public Safety Bureau

and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Provincial People's hospital

preformed a preliminary exam on the two schoolgrils

at 11 o'clock in the afternoon, on the 18th of April,

Our conclusion is as follows

The two girls were not assaulted

and no sexual contact was initiated.

The scheduled news conference is now concluded. Thank you.

You're a liar!

Why are you lying?

Xiaowen.

My ma said that the doctors think we're fine.

Xin Xin.

See you at school.

Listen, don't ever make your clients wait for you, ok?

Careful.

The local authorities are very concerned about this matter.

The investigation into the March 28th incident is closed

and has been handed over to the Procuratorate.

They intend to prosecute the Commissioner of the Council of Commerce, Liu Cheng Zhang.

Also, the Binhai police have determined that

Wang Zhi Jian, in his role as police captain,

committed various offenses

and has been suspended pending review.

The chief doctors involved are also suspected of perjury and taking bribes

and will also be prosecuted.
