[An Oriental Odyssey]

[Episode 26]

You'd better concern about yourself.

Think about how you would report after you return.

Zhao Lanzhi.

Do you remember what I told you?

Everyone has their own intention and plan for their behavior.

Apart from these, there are reasons and difficulties.

I do not regret what I've done.

But I want to thank you for protecting from the dart. I'd never forget.

Don't mention it.

Right, hold it higher.

Elegant.

[According to his movements,]

[the senior man must be far from a quack,]

[like what Yuan'an told me.]

Besides, they're acquainted. They are no ordinary friends.

Could he be the one who helps Yuan'an all the time?

Is he Chen Tianshu?

Higher up.

Move your left hand here.

Raise your chin.

For a man like Mu Le, who's got talent at strength,

this is the only way to be dealt with.

Is this all?

Stab at his heart with this.

How would I know where his heart is?

Or his bones?

You can't reach his bones.

But you could aim at the rim of his bone.

Stab him with sword.

Deduced from his height and arm length, his heart is located thirty centimeters beneath his chest bone.

It will definitely work as long as you follow my instruction.

Keep going.

It's so cruel.

Mu Le treats you well.

Yet you're thinking about hurting him with sword.

Because I know you don't have the heart the kill him,

even if you know how to do it.

Then why would you teach me?

Why don't you teach something else?

Just learn it.

Maybe it would work later.

By the way...

Turn around.

You could stab at someone's heart from the back.

Inches below left shoulder blade.

That would be a death blow.

Keep practicing.

[Mu Le, I will capture you alive for sure this time!]

Cheer up, bro.

We could return to Luo Yang tomorrow as long as we capture him.

Bandits are barbarous.

We have to be careful.

Exactly.

What's that?

I'll have a look.

Nothing. Just a cat.

Where is Li?

Li!

Bring him here!

Yes, sir.

Isn't this Li from prison?

Go!

Come on. Show me what you've got!

Take him down!

Move away! I'm looking for Zhao Lanzhi.

See if you could get to him.

You lost.

Kill me first, if you want him dead.

Don't challenge me!

Stop!

Zhao Lanzhi!

You wiped out our camp. I set fire to your barrack.

This is between you and me.

Why would you use Yuan'an to protect you?

Fight with me one on one if you're a man!

Challenged accepted!

- Get up! - Are you alright?

Keep fighting!

Are you alright?

Don't reckon yourself a hero by being a bandit!

I wouldn't be here to protect him,

if it's not the poison dart that disables him.

You'd be no where match his skill.

What's wrong with bandit?

All the brothers at Huodu Hill are loyally united.

They are going after the merchants who are heartless.

They are doing against the hooligans who are cruel.

I didn't kill Li Long or Li Bao.

Nor did I kill Xiaohu!

I set fire to barrack to force him to retreat.

But why would him wipe out my brothers?

Reason does not equal legitimacy.

The hooligans should be captured by soldiers.

The merchants who violate law should be punished on court.

So should you bandits when you do the wrong things.

I always think of you as an innocent man.

Yuan'an spared your live from time to time,

persuaded you to correct your wrongdoings.

Have you ever listened to her?

Stop the nonsense!

I've told you.

Kill me first,

if you want him dead.

[Stab at his heart.]

[You could aim at the rim of his bone.]

[Stab him with the sword.]

[Deduced from his height and arm length, his heart is located thirty centimeters beneath his chest bone.]

Surrender.

I'm asking you to surrender!

If it's not the handle but the blade,

your heart would have been stabbed right now.

You lost.

Come back with me.

There's the signal!

That's telling us, there's no need to use the rocks.

Good job for Miss Ye!

She defeated the monster!

There's no need for the backup plan Mr. Zhao prepared.

I've found out when Miss Ye comes to our barrack for several times.

Mr. Zhao and she is a couple.

Now they've solved a big problem together!

Tie him up with chain.

Yes, sir.

That's the law.

Any suspect of bandit have to be tied up.

He just doesn't want to feed the horse anymore.

And he's tired of getting blamed.

But now you're even worse than before.

You turned to a prisoner now.

What's that noise?

Mu Le!

Retreat! Move!

Go now!

Mu Le! Wake up!

Wake up! Mu Le!

Zhao Lanzhi...

Did you order them to prepare the rocks? Did you?

I did arrange it.

- But I've sent signal to stop them. - Why?

Didn't you promise me to have me surrender Mu Le?

No wonder you're a skillful man at trick.

Why would you stab us at the back now?

Why did you lie to me?

Is that what I am to you?

Get lost! Lost!

Mu Le...

Shushu, please save him.

Please, save Mu Le's life.

I'm begging you, Shushu.

You're always prepared for anything.

Dear, I could help you with any others things.

But now he's been smacked.

Now his organs are all ruptured.

There would be no way to save his life.

Yuan'an, let's head back to Luo Yang.

This old man is definitely a henchman of Ye Yuan'an.

The two Divine Beads of you will be mine,

after I report to State Preceptor.

What is this?

I made this when you were sick.

I thought of...

giving it to you...

when we're apart.

Don't jinx it.

We're not going apart!

That's nonsense!

Yuan'an,

do not be sad.

It hurts so much for me to see it.

I can't make it.

Please promise me one thing.

What's that?

Promise me.

Once I died,

you've only got three days to be sad.

Three days later,

please be back to normal.

Please live on without sorrow and anxiety.

Stop it. I'm begging you to stop the nonsense!

I will be by your side. You will recover.

You will not die. No, you won't.

Stop the nonsense.

[♫The hands are still warm.♫]

[♫The past is gone.♫]

[♫Tonight is about to end.♫]

[♫I wish I could have you by my side.♫]

[♫When I turn around,♫]

[♫you happen to turn around with your smile.♫]

Mu Le.

Mu Le.

Wake up.

Wake up, Mu Le. Wake up!

Don't fall asleep!

I've got to talk with you about destiny.

What about it?

We're living in such a vast world.

It's takes fortune for us to meet each other.

That's destiny.

No matter it's one's spouse or friend.

Or what's with you, a servant.

It is destiny now that you've been together for once.

It's more than enough for us to thank god for.

Greediness and mercenary make avarice.

So does the desire to be together with someone else, like you do.

Avarice is being unsatisfied.

Only with satisfaction could we live happy.

Don't you say so?

- No progress without destruction. - What are you doing?

No return...

Don't touch him! Don't! Get lost!

No return without leaving. No gaining without paying.

No prosperous without withered.

Yuan'an, let her have a try.

Maybe she could save Mu Le.

Mu Le! Mu Le!

How do you feel? Any better?

I'm great. Fully recovered.

Thank god you're alive.

What's wrong?

I'm nearly dead just now.

It's by that moment that I figured out,

I will surely regret it

if I die just like this.

I want to...

find out my past.

I can understand it.

Take care.

Will we meet again?

I don't know.

Good luck.

So do you.

I never regard you as my slave!

Yuan'an!

Thank you.

You're right. We shouldn't stick to avarice. We need to be content.

Sure. Let's have a good meal.

There he is. Mr. Zhao.

Mr. Zhao is back. He's back, Mr. Zhao.

Mr. Zhao! Mr. Zhao.

Thank you for your service, Mr. Zhao.

Empress asked us to wait for your return here.

Congratulations, Mr. Zhao.

You wiped out Huodu Hill and eradicated the bandits.

That's a credit for you!

Thank you, Mr. Liu.

Thank you all.

Empress has ordered them to prepare the edict for your promotion.

It's my duty to serve for my country.

I'm really flattered.

Isn't that Infanta Minghui?

Wasn't she sending rations to you on Prince Yu's behalf?

Mr. Zhao, why did you tie her up?

That's too bold of you.

Mr. Liu, there are things that I want to confirm with her.

Infanta Minghui, Grand Preceptor is waiting for you.

Please come with me, do not delay.

Please wait for a moment.

Infanta is under my detention now.

She's entangled with several cases.

I need to take her back for interrogation.

Zhan Lanzhi, how dare you!

Are you violating the order from Grand Preceptor?

Is Grand Preceptor greater than law?

Ask him on your knee when you have the chance.

We're here for Infanta Minghui.

Anyone who stops us will be killed at once!

Release her.

Zhan Lanzhi, I've warned you.

You can't deal with my matter.

Get away from me if you want to live.

I could release you today.

But I'm not letting go of you.

Don't look for trouble.

Infanta Minghui is one of the royal members and the disciple of Grand Preceptor. No one dare offend her.

Why did you lock her up?

That's too bold of you.

It would be too arrogant to go against Grand Preceptor even with trust from Empress.

Even Empress herself shows great respect to him.

Thank you for your tip, Mr. Liu. I know what I'm doing.

Greetings, Grand Preceptor. I am back.

I've found one of Nine Divine Beads.

I bring it to you with respect.

Grand Preceptor.

Anyway,

you finally get the bead back here.

I am following your order cautiously.

I dare not disregard your command.

Sure you don't!

This time you did it so awfully!

You've found five beads.

There are two beads with me at first hand.

Now there are still two beads to go.

Yet you exposed yoursefl!

If it's not me sending my disciples to save you,

you'd be at Court of Judicature and Revision with Zhao Lanzhi by now!

Your technique is getting worse and worse.

Tell me about it,

why would I spare your life?

Please be mercy!

I'm guilty for making mistakes this time.

But I am loyal to you.

And I've got the bead for you.

If I was captured and interrogated for sure,

I would never sell you out!

Killing you would just make me safer,

avoiding any potential of danger.

Beads!

I've seen the two beads left.

Where did you see them?

Do you remember the one I saw

when General Guo turned into moth and darted into the fire?

I met him again...

at Huodu Hill.

He is with Ye Yuan'an.

I saw there are two beads on his wrist.

Once reach Anatman, there won't be emotion.

Maids, go to get my medicine.

Yes, Master.

Come up.

Are you sure about that?

Yes, Master.

I do doubt him the last time you mentioned him.

Now you've seen it on your own.

That confirms my guess.

Do you know who he is?

When Master San Zang passed away,

he even fought against his own follow

only for obtaining Nine Divine Beads.

He is the cruel junior fellow apprentice, Tianshu.

No wonder I can't locate the other two beads

with what I've got on my hand.

Now that he's got the beads,

he's definitely hide the trace of it.

What a coincidence that you met him twice!

He is exposed now.

Grand Preceptor.

Minghui.

Although I am harsh to you,

I'm urging you to make progress.

You need to capture Tianshu for me.

And find the remaining beads.

I'm in need of your help.

I am your disciple.

It's my duty to aid you with all my effort.

Although I am strict with you,

I am tolerant to your family.

A while ago, your brother

smuggled a golden figure of the Buddha from a tomb to Luo Yang.

He was captured by Court of Judicature and Revision.

It's me who beg for mercy in face of Empress and Emperor.

Do you really think the court would spare him easily?

It was right when you went to wipe out the bandits at Huodu Hill.

Grand Preceptor, I am extremely loyal to you.

It is beyond my ability if there is some mistake that I made.

I did not intend to do that.

No matter what I've done,

please punish me alone.

Please spare my family!

Don't worry.

I will take good care of them.

Summon Zhao Lanzhi, Sizhi of Court of Judicature and Revision.

Your majesty and highness, greetings.

Zhao Lanzhi, Sizhi of Court of Judicature and Revision.

You're credited for your service during the battle.

You did well on eradicating the bandits on Huodu Hill.

Hereby promote you as Deputy Minister of Court of Judicature and Revision.

Thank you for your kindness, Your Majesty.

Long live the Emperor! Long live!

Pay more attention when cleaning.

You're back, Miss.

You've returned, Miss.

Miss.

Are the bandits at Huodu Hill eradicated?

Then...

Why is...

Why isn't Mu Le coming back with you?

He left.

Left?

[Since when do you behave like a hoodlum?]

Miss, are you alright?

I'm fine.

[♫I'm the one deeply in love.♫]

Lanzhi.

I know that you're hurt.

I ordered the Imperial Pharmacy to prepare medicine for you with Snow Lotus Herb.

You would recover soon with it.

Thank you, Empress.

Why are you still on your knee?

Is there anything you want to say?

Yes, Your Highness.

You sent me in charge of several cases at Luo Yang.

Although they were all solved,

and the criminals were captured,

there are still some doubts left.

As for the Bandits suppression

there are a party interfering us apart from the bandits.

All the clues indicate a much more complicated truth.

And they are all entangled together.

I'm here to ask for you permission to carry on my investigation.

What is the hidden party?

Whom do you suspect?

Grand Preceptor.

Grand Preceptor?

Do you have any evidence?

Not yet.

It's just my deduction.

That's why I'm applying for you permission

for further investigation.

Lanzhi, Grand Preceptor is a man of high status.

If there isn't any clear evidence,

I can not permit you to investigate on him.

Empress.

That's the end of it.

You're newly promoted.

There are many business left for you to deal with.

Do not be caught by Grand Preceptor's affair.

Yes, Your Highness.

By the way, it's been a while since the last time I met Yuan'an.

Did she go with you to suppress Bandit?

Dendrobium in my garden is blooming.

I'll send them to cut off a few.

Send them to Yuan'an on my behalf.

Yes, Your Highness.

[Empress and Grand Preceptor fall foul of each other.]

[But she's protecting him this time.]

[Could this mean something?]

Mr. Zhao.

Thank you.

Empress cherishes flower. She seldom send them to others.

It's a great fortune of you, Mr. Zhao.

You're mistaken.

Empress asked me to transfer it to someone else.

Sorry about that.

But every plant in this garden has a meaning.

Be careful with it.

What does that mean?

There is a saying.

Empress does enjoy the story behind flowers.

Peony stands for dignity, lotus represents sanctity.

Everything has its soul.

What about dendrobium?

That I can hardly answer.

I'm in no position to deduce her thought.

But she once said that,

dendrobium grows in the valley. It's hard to get.

It has got a mysterious origin.

[Is she indicating that]

[there are secrets with Yuan'an?]

Mr. Zhao.

It's been a while since we last met.

How are you doing, Mr. Ye?

Great. Thank you.

I heard that Yuanning is now working at the Ministry of Rites.

There is a vacancy, so I sent him there.

It's just for practice.

I'm here on Empress's command.

She asked me to send dendrobium from the loyal garden.

You must have heard that Empress and Yuan'an are friends.

It's been a while since the last time they met. Empress misses her.

Mr. Zhao.

Yuan'an just returned from Huodu Hill.

She's been resting these days.

I'll get them to have her here.

Servant! Ask Miss to come here.

Yes, sir.

Mr. Zhao, please.

Thank you, Mr. Ye.

I'm sorry.

It's alright.

How about fly a kite with me?

Thank you but no.

Fine, I'll go by myself.

Mr. Ye, I often paid a visit here.

I suppose this elderly man is not a member here.

Him?

That's a distant relative.

Really?

But back at Huodu Hll, Yuan'an told me that

he's a quack she knew.

Yuan'an, she loves to...

talk nonsense.

Actually, he's... a...

distant great grandpa of Yuan'an.

Right, great grandpa.

He knew some medical skills.

She even gave her a nickname.

She called him quack.

That's really disrespectful.

I reckon so.

Where is Miss?

Father.

I am sleeping. Why do you wake me up?

Come on! Show some respect!

Mr. Zhao transferred the present from Empress.

You should thank him.

Mr. Zhao, you two may have a chat.

I've got some business.

Excuse me.

This is the dendrobium from the imperial garden.

It's from Empress. Do you like it?

Thanks to Her Highness.

By the way,

I heard from my dad that

you got awarded by Empress in front of other officers.

And you get promoted.

Good for you.

Do you really mean it?

Why not?

We are acquaintances anyway.

I should wish you good.

After all this time,

with so many things happened,

it turns about, we are merely acquaintances.
