The Russian withdrawal from the western part
of the Kherson region has begun.

Russian forces probably intend to continue
this retreat over the next few weeks, but

may experience problems if Ukrainian forces
decide to attack.

The Russians may attempt to blow up a dam
at the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant (HPP)

to cover their retreat from Kherson and prevent
Ukrainian forces from pursuing Russian forces

deep into Kherson Oblast.

Russian forces made an unsuccessful assault
attempt northeast of the city of Kharkov along

the international border and continued shelling
settlements along the Oskol River.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that
Ukrainian troops repulsed a Russian offensive

on Ternova, about 40 kilometers northeast
of the city of Kharkiv.

The Russians launched missile strikes against
industrial infrastructure in the Kiev district

of the city of Kharkiv, and continued shelling
and air strikes against Kupyansk and settlements

in its vicinity.

Russian forces concentrated most of their
military equipment near Svatovoye and Troitskoye

(about 55 km northeast of Svatovoye).

The AFU repulsed a Russian assault on Liman.

The occupiers struck Novovoskresenskoye and
Novaya Kamenka in the north of the Kherson

region.

The Southern Operational Command of the Armed
Forces of Ukraine stressed that Russian troops

were using Ukrainian civilians as human shields
while transporting military equipment across

the Dnieper River, and Russian sources released
footage showing a line of civilians waiting

to cross from Kherson.

On October 21, Russian troops continued ground
attacks in the Donetsk region.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that
Ukrainian troops repulsed Russian ground attacks

near Bakhmut, northeast of Bakhmut near Soledar,
and south of Bakhmut near Ozaryanivka, Optina,

and Oradivka.

A Russian source claimed that Wagner GPC fighters
had advanced from positions on the eastern

outskirts of Bakhmut into the center of Bakhmut,
and Wagner personnel had taken fire control

of the railroad that Ukrainian forces use
to supply the Bakhmut area.

Russian authorities are trying to maintain
the facade of sustainable and powerful logistics

in southern Ukraine, while accelerating measures
to compensate for the damage caused by the

Kerch Bridge.

Crimean occupation head Sergei Aksyonov said
that more than 1,000 trucks traveled to southern

Ukraine via alternative overland routes, and
ferries ferried more than 720 vehicles across

the Kerch Strait.
