Let's look at some examples to show the difference between what management and what leadership will

focus on if creating an agenda for an important company wide event is the activity, managers will focus

on the planning and budgeting for the agenda and leadership will focus on establishing the direction

for developing a team, for achieving the agenda.

Management will focus on organizing and staffing the project.

In other words, who's available, what kind of work needs to get done, etc. and leadership will focus

on aligning the people.

Are we all on the same page?

Do we know the end goal, et cetera?

To execute the plans, management will focus on controlling and solving problems during that execution,

for example, oh, that location won't work.

OK, let's move to this location and leadership will focus on motivating and inspiring people to continue

executing the plans.

See, the difference is they're both managers and leaders are important and leaders must have some management

skills or at the very least learn to surround themselves with those that do.

Managers need to have some leadership skills and leaders need to have some management skills.

So no matter what your role is, these concepts are important for you.

And you need to find the best balance between management skills and leadership skills for your role.
