Woodville is
a super small country town.

We have three stoplights,

and they're literally
not even a mile apart.

I grew up singing and playing
music with my whole family.

My dad's a pastor.

I can recall the first time
she ever sung in the church.

She was about 3 years old.

She stepped up to the mic
fearless,

as if she'd been
doing it her whole life.

And after I heard that,
I said,

"This girl going somewhere,"
you know?

One day, I was
on my lunch break

at McDonald's,
in the drive-through.

And I just posted
the video of me singing

this song called "Jesus."

A viral music page
shared it,

and it got up
to like 1.5 million views.

And I was just, like, crying.

It literally
just happened overnight.

From there, I was one
of Monica's background singers,

and then I had
the opportunity to sing

with a gospel group
in Germany.

Since COVID,
I've been my own manager.

I respond to my own bookings.

I do everything by myself.

So, I need "The Voice"

so I can take my career
to the next level.

before I learned English.

I'm very in touch
with my culture,

and it's a big part
of who I am today.

My parents have always been
extremely supportive.

What they've instilled in me
is resilience, persistence,

I didn't get a relationship
with my father

until I was actually an adult.

It was hard,
but he was an amazing man.

His smile lit up the room.

Two years ago,
I got a phone call

from my sister, and she said,

"Dad is going to the hospital.

We believe he has COVID."

They put him in an induced coma,
and he passed away.

I just remember yelling out,
"I didn't get to say goodbye."

It just felt like I've been
punched in my stomach,

and I'm gasping for air.

I'm grateful that I get
to carry on his legacy.

And doing this,
I'm able to do something

that I know my dad would be
so proud and so happy about.

to this story

is the power and the emotion

I've had to overcome depression

And when I was 15,

I started taking voice lessons
