Ignite the fire!

What is this? Stay still!

Wow! Even clouds too.

- Your Highness! - Queen.

Your Highness!

Your Majesty! You can't kill the princess.

If you kill the princess, the royal family will be cursed.

That's how your curse has started.

You can return your curse to this place where you received such pain.

His Majesty the King is coming!

What Hong Joo is trying to do is to kill the princess and curse the royal family

so she will cut off the royal family line. Is that right?

That's why we have to save the princess.

Your Majesty, please halt the execution immediately!

We don't have much time!

That is not Yeon Hee.

It's not your fault. It's the fault of the ones who deceived you.

You have to hate them and be enraged at them.

If you kill the evil-cursed child, she will return to the pure and innocent Yeon Hee.

That is not Yeon Hee. That is only a cursed monster.

If you lift the curse, she will return to the original Yeon Hee.

One who can get rid of the wicked curse, it is only you.

Only you can protect Yeon Hee.

Yeon Hee.

Yeon Hee!

Yeon Hee. Yeon Hee!

Yeon Hee! Yeon Hee. Yeon Hee!

Yeon Hee. Yeon Hee!

Yeon Hee.

Your Highness the Queen!

Hurry summon the royal physician!

What's this?

Why don't you know how dangerous your life is?

I couldn't save...

my mother.

That I couldn't do anything...

for you...

That I couldn't do anything...

I was so fearful.

How badly was Taoist hurt?

He almost died.

The person called His Excellency looked. His condition was very bad.

Don't tell Yeon Hee anything about this.

- Scholar Heo. - Taoist!

Are you all right?

What about Yeon Hee?

She is all right. She's sleeping in the room right now.

That's a relief.

Why did His Excellency attack you, Taoist?

Really. Such a loose tongue.

Well...

Because of that...

No, that Ahjussi Excellency said he wanted to take something...

- Something like Book of Dem— - Soon Deok! Mmmm, Ma Soon Deok!

Actually, I'm hurt very much right now. It seems the pain is flaring up again. Please treat me.

I have such a pain here.

Yeon Hee!

Where are you going in that condition?

To the palace. I feel strange no matter how I think about it.

Last time, I got the foreboding that the baby that is coming soon would be in danger.

I have to go and check whether or not the Queen and the baby are all right.

You won't listen to me even if I stop you.

Let them in.

She was waiting for you, thinking you might come to the palace.

So you can come into the palace easily,

she told me to take care of you.

I'll go to Her Highness the Queen Mother to greet her.

She has a cold so she is in the bed.

So it's hard to see her.

Queen.

What happened?

She lost the baby in her womb.

Here, shall we make it?

Yes.

Hey.

Ham!

Please give this to the queen.

It's a tranquilizer potion that calms down her mind.

Right now, the person who is having the most difficult time is the queen.

We made this hoping she will be comforted even a little bit.

Don't you resent me?

I also resent you and hate you.

It's only that fact that something bad happened to the baby is pitiful, that my mind goes out to you.

It's not for the sake of Your Majesty.

Unless the plague epidemic is subdued,

the people's blame on the princess won't end.

Seeing that the the long-lasting plague in the country is blamed on the princess,

this may be also caused by Hong Joo's black magic.

If this is right, that will also be solved after the princess' curse is lifted.

That curse...

can be solved?

Since I was incompetent,

I trusted the Hong Joo's words.

Hence,

I lost my child.

I won't sway anymore.

Therefore, I'll leave her punishment to you.

If you need anything, please ask it of me.

Just that you have changed your mind, itself encourages us a lot.

The fellow, Choi Poong Yeon.

He said he would leave, quitting the position as Head Taoist of Taoist Temple.

Please stop by and see him before leaving.

Brother, it's me Yeon Hee. Brother!

Please allow me to see you. I'm all right.

It's not your fault, Brother.

Isn't it that I'm all right?

Brother. Brother!

Yeon Hee.

I...

I won't see you again.

No, I can't see you.

I'm sorry.

Your Highness. The princess came.

I can't understand you, Your Highness.

But,

I try to understand your mind that you had to bear a child even by doing something like that.

Please be healthy all the time.

Yeon Hee.

You must dispel the curse for certain.

After you dispel the curse, please live as you want for sure.

What I want from you now is only that.

Yes, Mother.

It's all over.

Stop, Hong Joo.

You'll probably ask that.

It was almost done. Almost finished.

That's why I can't stop here.

Did you bring the last page of Book of Demon Banishment?

There must be something written there, right?

Please give me what you brought.

Clear Mirror Potion

I heard the news.

You will leave the Taoist Temple.

I may put Yeon Hee in danger again.

How can I stay by her?

Yeon Hee also understands you couldn't help but had to.

No.

I couldn't control my mind after all, and lost.

Moreover, what this mind is that keeps hurting Yeon Hee,

I don't know now.

This is a clear mirror potion that makes you be able to look at your mind.

I hope this potion will take a load off your mind.

I'll protect you.

Are you all right?

I'll protect you by your side.

I will protect you.

Poong Yeon, are you holding your sister well?

Yes, Father.

Don't worry. I'm holding her well.

I won't absolutely let her go.

You must protect Yeon Hee well.

Do you understand?

Yes.

I'll be by Yeon Hee no matter what.

I'll protect Yeon Hee forever.

The words to protect her were too heavy to you?

Father!

Was it too much for you to handle it?

It was you who told me to protect the newly born baby, Yeon Hee.

That's why Yeon Hee is the child I have to protect for my whole life.

I have never told you to protect her for your whole life.

How did you come to believe that?

Because she is the child I have to protect,

is she my person whom I take responsibility for?

Did you confuse love and responsibility?

No. It's true that I like her.

Because I liked her, I wanted to protect her.

You didn't protect her, did you?

That was...

not because I didn't like her enough.

Because your mind was crooked,

it's not love.

Your earnest desire to protect her made you obsessed with Yeon Hee.

Can you let her go now?

Please look at me.

I was worried you'd say you would not see me again.

This brother feels very sorry to you.

I said I would protect you but I only hurt you.

I always thought I would protect you by your side.

Brother.

I always thought I must stay next to you.

I deluded myself that it was for your sake and thought that it was our destined fate.

Because of my crooked responsibility for you,

instead I put you in danger.

Now, this brother... wishes only for you to be happy.

I want now, Brother...

is for you to live not for my sake but for your sake.

It seems you used all the power of black magic.

You can't live as a human or as a monster now.

Why did you tell them about Short Black Sword?

I can't save Your Excellency any more now.

That's a relief.

I can get out of your hands.

Now, you are no use to me at all, Your Excellency.

Father!

Father!

Taoist, why is Father like this?

He has sustained his life with Hong Joo's black magic but its power has run out now.

Right now, His Excellency's life is in danger.

Then, if there is black magic,

can we save Father?

No, you can't.

He can sustain his life for a short time, but his body can't endure it any longer.

If the black magic gets into his body again,

he will die more painfully.

Is this it?

The price of your belief that you have kept your whole life?

Is this the result of the mission you have kept fulfilling by leaving me and Mother alone?

What on earth was I to you, Father?

You should have told me.

You should have asked me for help.

Why on earth... Why didn't you trust me?

Why did you try to deal with it by yourself?

Father.

Father.

I'm sorry, Poong Yeon.

All I can do for you is this.

If something wrong happens to you, Father,

what can I do?

I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Son.

Father.

Father!

Father.

Your Excellency! How could you...

What are you going to do with that?

How did you revive? It can't be...

Did you siphon your son's black magic?

Do you think that would be too much for me?

That fellow Heo Jun threw himself into the fire for Yeon Hee without hesitation.

He should be one who will make the candle light up for Yeon Hee.

Give it to me.

You are doing this because I might do something to that fellow Heo Jun, aren't you?

Isn't it my mission to block you?

Your Excellency.

Please, only this time...

Help me.

Not because of black magic,

but because of your sincerity, please save me.

Eighteeen-year-old...

Isn't it I who have trusted Your Excellency from that time?

But why do you always try to block me?

Please let me pass only this time. Please.

Even if you save me hundreds of times,

It will never happen that I'll let you pass.

Now, only two days are left.

After lifting the curse,

there may be about ten thousand days left to us.

If it's ten thousand days,

will we live together for about 30 years?

By the way, how can you propose to me so bluntly?

No, it's not a proposal.

Then, should I live with another woman?

With whom will I live, then? Huh? Huh?

Do you want to live with me?

Huh. Then with whom will I live?

Will I live with Taoist Yo Gwang, just the two of us?

Oh, terrible.

Everything will go smoothly.

We will light all of the candles safely.

As you have wished, to be living very ordinarily,

we'll keep living very ordinarily.

I trust you

as much as you trust me.

Hey!

Here.

Here? Be on the watch.

Is there anybody?

Is there anybody?

Don't you see we are closed.

I heard you have the good leathers that will be sent to Ming.

You came to the wrong place. I don't handle such expensive items.

- Excuse me, Sir. - What?

I mean, not that.

I heard you let people stow away to Ming.

Can you let me stow away as well?

I can give you as much money as you want.

I only sell a ticket to a person once. Do you know why?

Either the person who rides the boat safely arrives in Ming,

or he becomes food for the fish in the rough seas.

Or it's because he gets caught by slave hunters.

Do you know which one more people experience?

It's the one where slave hunters catch them.

The slave hunters are tough and tenacious.

If they get caught, they die in vain. If they don't get caught, it's a life of running away forever.

This is your last chance to change your mind.

Do you still want to go?

I didn't know that.

Did you hear that? What should I do?

You either stow way or turn yourself in. Either way, everything will be all right.

What happened to me so I became like this? Huh?

What did I do wrong?

What should I do?

- Hey, Ma Soon Deok! - Oh my! I'm startled.

What happened this late at night?

Tell me what you tried to talk about a while ago.

What did I talk about?

The reason His Excellency attacked Taoist. What did he take?

Oh... That...

Did Taoist tell you not to talk about it?

N-No. That's not exactly the case.

What did His Excellency take?

I... also have loyalty.

It seems it's an important matter. Because of that, Taoist almost died.

I have to know it so I can help Taoist.

That... Threatening Ahjussi, His Excellency...

said this:

"Give me the last page of Book of Demon Banishment."

Before the Northern star disappears, you light all the candles and dispel the curse.

Is this the end?

What exactly is on the last page of The Book of Demon Banishment?

Excuse me.

Even if you grant someone else's wish, you can't light the last candle.

Are you Your Excellency?

There is someone else for that last candle.

What do you mean by saying that?

The last candle can be only lit by the sacrifice of true love.

Ah... And what do you mean by saying that?

That you sacrifice yourself for Yeon Hee's sake.

That would be only the way to lift Yeon Hee's curse.

Will you be able to sacrifice yourself for Yeon Hee's sake?

That sacrifice... means the death?

Whatever choice you make, I'll follow your decision.

Your Excellency.

I'm sorry.

I only troubled you and Yeon Hee.

I let you make a choice of this kind until the end...

Your Excellency, you were...

only a father to Yeon Hee.

Don't blame yourself too much.

Have you been waiting for me? I told you to go to sleep first.

I decided to wait for you until you come.

Aren't you tired?

But where exactly have you been?

Just... looking around to find anyone who would light the candle.

Jun.

I won't be impatient. And I won't get anxious either.

As you said, everything will go well.

Okay.

The last candle can be only lit by the sacrifice of true love.

That sacrifice... means death?

The last candle can be only lit by the sacrifice of true love.
