I looked at the end of my bed,

and there was a tall man.

I say man because of what he was wearing.

He had a

black brim hat

and black trench coat.

And I was sleeping
on an old roll away bed,

and from where the roll
away bed was situated,

I could look out into the
hallway and down the stairs.

And I saw The Shadow Man.

He was taller than usual.

The man was laying down

and the shadow figure

was over him crouching.

I think that he is Lucifer

in the flesh, honestly.

When he pierces into you
with his eyes into your soul,

that's all you feel is oh my God,

that's the Devil right there.

Oh my god, he's coming for my soul.

This is it.

It shakes my soul, honestly.

One day, The Hat
Man just started showing up.

It would be when I was not
in sleep paralysis at all.

Bigger than me.

I'm six foot something and he's a good,

he's always taller than I am.

Then I've seen The Hat Man right

in the doorway which gave me a real sense

of foreboding like I was about to die.

- I don't really know how to explain

how he stares at you because he's

just this tall black silhouette,

and so it's like you can't
see any of his features.

You can't see his nose
or his eyes or his mouth.

You can't see anything but you know like,

it's staring right at you.

I don't know, I'm
like shaking and my voice

is all over the place
and my hands are sweaty

but I'll try and clearly
share this with you.

When I was seven years old,

my family and I,

we moved into this old, old house.

It was nearly 100 years old,

and we had seen all kinds of things.

Like the first time I
ever had a ghost encounter

I was also seven years old.

All these experiences I had were nothing

in comparison to The Hat Man.

I don't know why.

I don't even know what The Hat Man is.

So, I was just, I don't know
why it was so terrifying

and why it still keeps
me up at night sometimes.

But it just has this very
heavy negative force to it and,

I don't want anyone to
experience it because it's awful.

So I was seven years old

and this is the first time

I've ever had my own bedroom to myself.

My family, they all live upstairs

and I'm the only one downstairs.

And I'm just sitting in my bed and

I don't know what happened
but all of a sudden,

I just drew this really strong,

I just like all of a sudden
really noticed my closet.

And I'm just staring at it
and I'm basically like frozen.

Like I can't move.

And the door of my closet
slowly creaks open.

And this black figure is just standing

there really tall staring at me.

And I was just staring right back at it.

It's just this dark black silhouette.

It slowly starts to
creep out of the closet.

And I just, I freaked and I just jumped

and I'm like hiding underneath
my covers and I'm shaking.

I can't breathe properly, right.

You know, after awhile I'm like okay, no.

This is just my imagination.

This is nothing.

And so I finally work up the courage

and I peek through my covers.

And it's there but it's closer now.

It's like right at the
edge of my bed just staring

and once again I'm just filled

with this disgusting black dark feeling.

And it's just the worst
feeling I've ever experienced.

I keep saying I'm terrified

but I just can't express

how terrifying it was.

Like, it was the worst
thing that's ever happened.

But yeah, I saw him.

I'd peel open my covers one more time.

I couldn't,

like I could move but I couldn't.

I don't know how to explain it.

Like I just couldn't leave my bed.

I was just stuck in my bed.

And it just really wanted me to know.

Like it was there.

And it was watching me.

I guess, the weird thing
is for some people,

the Hat Man is just like
a sleep paralysis figure.

But for me like I've
seen him plenty of times

when I'm like awake

or not even in my own bed.

Like I'll be walking around the house.

Or I'll be,

I don't know, like out
with friends or something.

I don't really know how to
explain how he stares at you

because he's just this
tall, black, silhouette.

And so it's like you can't
see his, any of his features.

You can't see like the
buttons on his jacket.

You can't see his nose
or his eyes or his mouth.

You can't see anything.

But you know like, it's
staring right at you.

- I started researching shadow
people and death in 2004.

This research started as
a result of getting a lot

of emails and inquiries
in a short period of time

from people describing
pretty much the same kind

of experience, a bedroom
invasion by a dark entity

that looked like a tall man
wearing a cape or a coat.

And often with a hat.

These were terrifying
encounters for people

and they were wondering,
what is this entity?

What does it want?

How do I make it go away?

There are different
types of shadow people.

There is what I call a core experience.

And this is the bedroom invasion

where a person wakes up usually
in the middle of the night

to find in their doorway or by the bed,

what they first might think is a person.

It's a very dark silhouette

that looks like a man about
six to seven feet tall

wearing a coat or a cape and often a hat.

There are no features.

Sometimes people see eyes but usually,

they're featureless.

And these figures radiate an
intense amount of malevolence.

People feel very frightened

like they're going to be attacked.

Sometimes the entity doesn't attack.

It just observes, which
is quite terrifying.

And sometimes it does attack

by jumping on the person in bed.

Attempting to choke or suffocate them.

The odd thing about these entities is that

they seem to have mass when they want

and they seem to be able to be
paraphysical when they want,

that is if they reach
out and attack someone,

the individual feels like
they're being assaulted

by a very muscular heavy human being.

But when these entities want to disappear,

they will go through walls, windows.

They will disappear as smoke, vapor.

They will slide under the
bed, go into the closet

where they disappear.

So they seem to have the capability

of being physical in our realm and yet,

they can defy the laws,

natural laws of physics at the same time.

- That too happened right
around the same year,

it was like 1960.

You know the Hat Man thing,
it just, it makes no sense.

It just makes no sense to me.

What is that?

Okay, when I saw it,

him, whatever that thing is,

it was in Compton.

I was probably around
four or five years old,

same age.

And my uncles lived about
maybe seven houses down

the street from us.

And my parents got into a big ole argument

and so, my mom took us
kids down my uncle's house

and we ended up spending the night there

until the whole thing cooled off.

And my uncle had this
big bedroom in the back

with two beds.

One big bed and one twin bed.

My mom, me and my sister in one bed

and I think my other sister
was in the other bed.

Okay, this happened again
in the middle of the night,

everyone's asleep.

Everybody's out.

So, I wake up.

I'm looking around, I'm
looking at the corners.

There's this man with a hat on.

I thought it was my uncle you know.

And I looked at him and the thing is,

I could see the hat
and it had like a coat.

But I couldn't see his face.

And I remember him walking up to the bed

where my mom and I were at.

He looked down at us and just
shook his head like this.

But I couldn't see his face.

That instance probably lasted,

heck maybe.

Half a minute.

He stood there for a while and just stared

and then he finally walked up to the bed.

And I remember when he left,

he left the room.

I never heard him open the door.

I never heard any footsteps.

And I thought it was strange.

I remember the coat, it was a long coat.

And the hat was just like the,

you know the hats you use
to wear back in the 40's?

That's the kind of hat that he had on.

'Cause that's why I thought
maybe it might have been

my uncle but my uncle never
wore those kinds of hats.

I mean, it was starting to phase out

I guess maybe in the 50's.

But my dad would wear a hat
like that once in a while

but that wasn't my dad.

My dad would have made
noises walking on the floor.

My dad would have opened the,

you would have heard the door open.

But it's just strange because,

I never saw his face.

He never made a sound.

Even when I saw him walking out,

you know, I don't remember
him even opening a door.

And before I even heard about the Hat Man,

you know, it never made any sense to me.

I told my mom about it.

And it just, you know,

what is that, you know?

And now I'm hearing that
other people have seen him.

But see, I only saw him that one time.

I never saw him again.

And I was talking to my sister

about you coming to
give me this interview.

And we were talking about
the grays and the Hat Man.

She goes the Hat Man, oh.

She goes, our grandmother
use to see him all the time.

That's the first time I ever heard of it.

I go, what?

Goes yeah, 'cause she use
to see him all the time,

even during the day.

And I go, wow, she did.

Yeah, she said, he would just show up.

He wouldn't talk.

He would just you know, hang around.

And she would see him all the time.

In the house, outside.

And I called my sister and
I wanted to get some more

information from her but
she never called me back.

But it's very interesting to know

that the Hat Man is
being seen by my family.

- How do I describe the Hat Man?

Uh, okay.

This is what the Hat
Man really looks like.

First of all, he's kind
of like a shadowy figure.

It's almost like he's made out of shadow.

There's no clear defined
edges on his sides.

He's wearing a top hat.

- His shoulders were dead
straight, almost horizontally.

Then there was a small round area,

and then maybe just where
the ears would start,

on top of your brow is where
the rim of the hat started.

And that went out and nearly was a long

as his shoulders went out.

- He was taller than usual.

- Oh, I don't know
specifically what time era.

I haven't looked into it.

It just, it did seem
somewhat old fashioned

just 'cause you don't see that
many people walking around

with like a wide brimmed.

You don't see males walking around

with a wide brimmed hat
these days, flat top.

- There's always a silhouette of a man,

with a big wide brimmed hat.

- He's a shadow.

He's a dark figure.

Um, now I would say he'd
had more of a top hat

than a detective's hat.

- Then there it is.

This dark black silhouette
with like broad shoulders

wearing a hat and it's just standing tall

like hovering right over me on my bed.

- Well, the hat,

almost round, the rim
of his hat nearly round

to the edge of his shoulder.

- It was a hat very much like
the one I'm wearing today.

- I see this head coming up with a hat on.

Like a fedora hat.

- Fedora?

Yeah, like the fedora hat.

And it was wide brimmed.

- It looked like a top
hat, something like that.

- He had a black brim hat.

- And then I noticed
more of a coat or a cloak

over the rest of the figure.

But it was a very

anthropomorphic.

It wasn't very specific
except for the hat.

- The Undertaker from WWF.

Not as stocky as him and about as tall

but not as menacing looking
when it comes to the silhouette.

- But it seemed somewhat old,

almost kind of Freddy Krueger.

- Yeah, his shoulders were very wide.

And he was like wearing a
coat or a cloak or something

because you could not see arms
defined or legs or anything.

- Either wide shoulders
or like padded shoulders,

like maybe even a suit.

- And it's almost like he's
dressed in formal wear,

you know like a tux?

- And then, I could see
that like his body's big.

He's about eight feet tall or so.

He's bigger than me.

I'm six foot something and he's a good,

he's always taller than I am.

- He was very, very tall.

As tall as my ceiling.

- You could see like some kind of hat,

then the shoulders

and everything else just pitch black down.

- That was quite a large rim.

Now I've seen people draw
him or have a picture of him

where his hat's quite small.

But for me, it sort of went straight out.

And it sort of dipped down
a little bit at the edge.

It wasn't as horizontal
running as his shoulders.

I've seen multiple hats.

I've seen him in like
the old floppy cowboy,

duster, with a duster on.

I've seen him in a top hat.

I've seen him in a like
a Charlie Chaplin hat.

I've seen him with no hat.

- I wondered for a long time

why do these entities need to wear hats.

And usually the hats are crazy hats.

They're out of fashion.

They're weird looking.

They range from old fashion
stereotyped detective hats

to floppy hats almost like fedoras,

stove piped hats like the
Victorians wore, cowboy hats.

Why does an entity need to wear a hat?

Well, there are two possible reasons.

And one is, that these
are intelligent entities.

They are very smart.

They know exactly how
to engage with people.

They know what they want.

And they may have figured
out that their silhouette

looks a little more terrifying

or maybe even a lot more terrifying

if they're wearing a hat.

Hats are often symbols of authority.

But I think that it has more to do

with how they shape shift.

Because the jinn have
really no physical form.

They can shape shift
into any form they want.

And these seem to be for
a variety of reasons.

The jinn have indicated interest
in generational bloodlines

for their own purposes.

And so, they follow families.

And wherever those family members go,

wherever they move, whoever
the descendants are,

there seems to be a pattern
of these kinds of experiences

that plague them.

Then there are shadow people
who attach to individuals

on a temporary basis.

They're very drawn to negative emotions.

And so if a person goes through
a lot of upheaval in life

like disease, financial issue, a divorce,

a loss of a job, something
that really upsets them

and turns their personal life into chaos,

this is likely to generate depression,

unhappiness, a sense of
hopelessness and also anger.

All of these emotions are very attractive

to the jinn because they
can feed off those emotions.

- I think when you
start getting depressed,

that's an opening, you can start
opening a door to anything,

depression, anxiety.

They don't want you to be happy.

I would think right, I
mean they're gonna want you

to be miserable, depressed,
sad and that's how they come in

and they're gonna work on
that and make you even worse.

- Individuals going through
these types of crises,

may find themselves attacked at night

by these literally energy vampires.

And when they are able to
recover and get their lives

back into a better balance,

then there's nothing for
these beings to come for

and they go away.

- It was in the summer of 1966,

I was sleeping in my parent's bedroom.

I think because my dad
was painting my bedroom.

And I was sleeping on
an old roll away bed.

And from where the roll
away bed was situated,

I could look out into the
hallway and down the stairs.

And...

I saw The Shadow Man.

I was having trouble falling asleep,

as I always do, as I suffer from insomnia.

So I'm laying there,

looking out into the hallway.

And down the stairs, I see what looks like

this hat forming.

It looked, just above the stairs

'cause I was asleep below them

but I see this head
coming up with a hat on,

like a fedora hat.

And it's like slow, real slow,

coming up the stairs, so I'm like,

I was just looking at it.

You know, thinking it's
a trick of the light.

But there was enough light
that shown into the hallway

because my mother always had a night light

that was on in the
bathroom so that you know,

we could get to the bathroom
and you know, whatever.

But anyway,

I'm watching this thing

and I'm not really sure
what it is at the time.

But it's gliding up the stairs.

It's not boom, boom, boom,
walking up the stairs.

It's kind of gliding up the stairs.

And it looked, you know,
I could see the head.

And then the shoulders.

And then the torso appeared.

And that's when I started
to cry, not hysterically

or anything like that.

But I started to weep.

Now while I was crying,

I see this thing come up the stairs,

all the way up the stairs now.

It's on the floor, not the stairs now.

And it's about that time

when my mom evidently
heard me and picked me up

and put me in her bed.

Now I know she saw it.

Because she woke up my dad.

And together, they searched the house.

And we lived in a you know,
kind of a nicer part of Detroit

but anyway, there was still problems.

So they were kind of looking for

like maybe someone had broke in.

But I guess they went outside, too.

They searched the house
and never found anything.

All the windows and doors were locked,

just as we had left them.

- I mean, I'd seen a few
different shadow entities.

And yeah, they were terrifying
but they never actually

terrified me to the point where I felt

that my life was at risk
or anything like that.

But when I saw the Hat Man,

I use to always shut
the door of my bedroom.

And I'd wake up, staring
directly at the doorway.

And you could see the
blue hue in the doorway

of like the light, the
night light coming through

from the bathroom window or whatever.

It was standing in the doorway.

Its hat was just maybe an
inch or two from the top

of the door and you could see
the light from around him.

And I felt terrified like,

more so than anything else I can describe.

It's almost like being put on a ledge

of like a 10-story building
and being hung over it.

Like you're looking into oblivion.

It was a horrible feeling.

I was stumped, bent over, I was sick.

And this was the first
time that the shadow entity

said my name, said Steve,

in a way that almost made me
feel like I needed to follow.

It was quite a flat tone.

There was no emotion to it.

Quite disturbing.

And after it said that,

the shadow entity just sort
of, just slid from view,

almost like it was being drug along.

It didn't look like it was walking.

And there was no sort of limb movement.

I mean it was wearing a giant jacket

or that's how it looked.

It looked like The
Undertaker from wrestling.

Like WWF back in the day, if
you have the sort about that.

Very, very weird.

Very disturbing.

And I told my brother about
it a couple of days later.

He said, when did that happen to you?

I said, two nights ago.

He was like, but that
happened to me last week.

I saw exactly the same thing in my house.

And that just made me feel a bit weird.

But he said when he saw the shadow,

at least the Hat Man, it had the red eyes.

But he said that he felt
exactly the same way.

Like he actually felt
that his life was at risk,

like he was about to die,

like his heart was about to explode.

And that's exactly how I felt

which is pretty weird, pretty strange.

- I don't know.

The hat's kind of you,
who wears a fedora well?

Sam Spade.

Harrison Ford, you know
and people from gangsters.

One possible explanation is
that the Hat Man is just,

you know, that's the residual ghost

and that's, you know, somebody
died in the 40's or 50's

and they were use to wearing a fedora.

Except that the Hat Man

has a particular type of behavior.

They tend to snoop on people.

They will be looming
in a doorway watching,

you know, watching you
and when you notice them,

they'll walk away,

which seems a little bit more
than what a ghost would be.

They're also pretty intimidating.

Like the shadow person that I saw,

which I refer to as a benign shadow

'cause he didn't pay any attention to me.

They don't notice you, okay.

They just walk by.

But the Hat Man always,
always pays attention

and it's pretty terrifying.

- I would say that,

it occurred in a dream.

One night I was sleeping.

I must have been four years old.

One of the first memories I ever had.

And I was running in my neighborhood.

It was night.

And I was running around
in the neighborhood

and I felt someone behind me.

Click, clop, click, clop, behind me.

And I was so scared I didn't turn around

and I ran up to the porch.

We had this huge porch

in the front of the place where I lived.

And on the corner, there's a light.

And from the porch, you
can see the corner clearly.

And I turned around, and there he was,

standing right there under
the light, watching me.

And that was the first
time I had ever seen him.

How many
times have you seen him?

- I would say, several times.

Recently.

Probably.

I don't know.

I couldn't, maybe 15, 15 to 20 times.

What was the worst experience,

that you seen him?

- Standing next to my daughter's crib.

I usually wind down at
night around 7:30, 8:00.

And I had been experiencing
more spiritual,

I guess you could say,
spiritual sensations.

And I was laying down here.

And I was getting a horrible feeling

that something was wrong with my daughter.

Had to go get her.

And I opened the door and
he was standing there,

next to the crib,

looking at me.

He wasn't looking at my daughter.

He was looking at me.

Watching.

And that's what he does.

He watches.

And for a while, she was crying

and like, she had the most
terrifying scream out of nowhere.

- Yeah, I heard.

It did get really bad.

Like either a nightmare

or something scary right
in there during that.

She's never been like that.

Like.

Like, you know, to the point
where you're just like,

something's going on.

You know, there's a good
shrill in the scream.

And it was around that same time.

And it's almost like he's
dressed in formal wear.

You know, like a tux.

You know, very formal.

But it's all in shadow.

What did you do

when you first opened the door

and the Hat Man's right there?

Dude!

Oh.

- He's with my baby and
of course, you know,

it was more like terrified that my baby

could possibly even be
in this thing's clutches

or around it or,

the worst fear coming true.

You don't want your children to experience

something that you're going through like,

it's very terrifying.

And you don't have answers for it.

What am I gonna tell her?

This thing you're seeing, I see too.

Oh, it's not gonna hurt you but we see it.

Like what, what am I
suppose to explain to a,

to a 16-month old?

That my baby's innocent.

I felt anger.

I felt fear.

Terror.

Because I knew it wanted it to say,

I can get to her.

You know.

And was it
like he just disappeared after?

What happened?
- No!

He was just standing?

- He just stood there

while I went to go pick up my baby

because she was crying.

A lot of times I'll see
them come through the door,

this way.

Coming in.

And most of the times, they are,

like the Hat Man,

is over here,

right here.

And then the thing I was
telling you about is,

it likes to hang around
this area for some reason.

- Usually, they start
actually here or here.

So it's like a couple of starting places.

They come around.

And they're pretty much like this.

Their hands are out.

And they're very long.

The fingers are very long.

And I see them kind of you know,
squishing around like this.

And fingers and fingers.

And then they get here.

And I don't see them after that.

How tall would you say he is

when you walk in and
you see him right here.

About six feet.

Or point out.

- He's probably two feet under.

Probably about right here.

That's really an estimate.

So I'd say, it's two feet under here.

And when you see him,

would you be sitting over here

and see him move like that?

- That's where I see him.

I don't see him in my bedroom or

anything.

See now it's interesting that

he's going this way into that room, right.

- Hmm hmm.
- Yeah.

- We can show you,

but I use to be in this room

when we first moved in.

And the first thing I did was I sat,

by the window.

I sat down by the window in this corner

and I sensed,

like as I just walked in right now.

I just sensed there's something
going on in this room.

And this is the most, this room here

is where I saw the shadow people the most,

in this room.

Crawling, yes, yes.

No, I know, I can feel 'em.

Yeah, that's definitely.

You seen 'em come out of here?

- Hmm hmm.
- How you see 'em come out?

Is it the same sliding thing?

- They're sliding and wiggling.

What do you think he is?

Your own opinion?

- I think it's the devil.

I've thought about this long and hard.

And I believe that either he's the devil,

or he's a high ranking demon

or somebody that is control
of sending these things

out to watch people.

For the shadow people,

I believe that they're astral beings.

I believe these people are under

the order of the Hat Man to watch.

People have this tendency to do,

to have that sense of entitlement.

It almost seems 'cause
I know it's not human.

But he takes on human,

bad qualities one would have.

Entitlement, pride and arrogance.

That's the only way, me as a human being,

can describe what the
presence feels like it.

Like now, I'm getting to the point

where I can actually sense

when he's around.
- Hmm hmm.

- You know, even though
it's almost like a,

not malevolent not benevolent,

you know, it's not good, not bad.

But that's the trick.

They don't want you to feel
like there's anything wrong.

- Because I thought I was
crazy for so many years.

I didn't even know there was a whole thing

about this guy until not too long ago

when I just Googled his appearance

and everything popped up.

- I did kind of go back and forth.

Was I dreaming?

Was it real?

And I didn't know.

Because it just, you can't explain it.

It doesn't make any sense.

Years later,

my oldest daughter,

she asked me if I had ever seen a ghost.

And I'm like well,

I didn't see a ghost but I saw something.

And I told her the
story about the Hat Man.

And she was pretty fascinated by it.

And she Googled Hat Man or tall man,

dark man and um.

How do you
feel just talking about it?

What's the vibe you get
just talking about it?

- I feel really uneasy having
to talk about it actually.

It was definitely, it was
like really sinister and evil.

Like, it wasn't, it
definitely wasn't human,

whatever it was, you know.

- An image popped up.

And it was pretty close
to what I had seen.

And uh,

it terrified me.

Because I knew that others
had seen the same thing as me

and that I was not crazy.

That this was,

this was real.

- I came across a blog and
I was talking to a friend

about it one time and she
mentioned shadow people.

And any time that I Googled it before,

I could never find anything.

But when I Google shadow people.

I found a blog and it was
like tons and tons of comments

from people who had seen them.

The same thing, you know.

- But I think the shadow
people are with him.

I think that he gets a lot of souls

with him when he travels.

And so,

dm

I think that they do work for him.

He can't be at all places at once

so he has other entities

that help him.

- I happened to just
be watching this show.

It was NOVA.

They talk about black
holes and things like that

but they were focusing on
a woman who had narcolepsy

which I had been diagnosed with.

And she was talking
about her sleep paralysis

which I felt was my cause of the Hat Man.

I was diagnosed with sleep paralysis

and so I thought I was
having these very lucid,

scary nightmares due to sleep paralysis.

And so when she started talking,

I became very fascinated.

And she was basically talking
about my same experience.

She was saying that he would
come up over her left shoulder

and he would like get in her face.

And she said, how is he
doing this because he's huge

and she has a night stand right there.

And it would almost be
like he's half way sticking

out of her home.

You know, like how could he do that?

And she's saying, almost ever night,

this man would come to me.

And he had this wide
brimmed hat, long jacket

and he would come to the end of the bed.

And he would grab me by the ankles

and he would start pulling me.

And she started explaining
everything, everything,

like my experience.

And then, for like drama sake,

they put on the,

right on the wall,

they literally painted this image.

I'm telling you.

It was this image on the wall

and I'm like going to my
husband, oh my God, oh my God.

That's my hat, that's my, that's
the thing that comes to me.

And so randomly, I ran to the computer.

And I typed in Hat Man randomly

just because of his weird hat.

And.

Web page after web page.

Image after image.

And all of a sudden,

I couldn't understand sleep paralysis

and narcolepsy.

I had been so happy thinking
it was a medical issue.

And how can all these people,

hundreds of thousands of people,

and somebody in every
country, all over the world,

have seen him?

That's how big it is.

Everybody's heard about people,

whether you believe it or not,

you've heard about alien abduction, okay.

Whether you believe it or
not, you've heard about it.

Almost nobody has heard
about this Hat Man.

I mean I talk to my neighbors.

You go across the street.

I talk to you know, somebody
I go to during the day,

I visit with a friend.

Nobody's heard about this.

Yet, hundreds of thousands of people,

all over the world are having
the exact same experiences.

- I saw the Hat Man during an
Ayahuasca ceremony in Hawaii.

Ayahuasca is a very powerful, psychedelic.

It activates the pineal gland.

And therefore, I was in a
higher state of consciousness,

a different state than
the normal waking state

of consciousness.

And I was with a group of people
and we were all lying down.

And at this point, the
medicine had taken effect

and I knew I was aware of the
different realms around me.

But the realm that was
most specific that evening,

was the fourth dimension.

And I felt spooky,

like it was a very spooky
environment to be in.

The feeling.

And so I got up a little
bit and looked around.

And that is when I saw
one of my fellow travelers

had the Hat Man standing right over him.

I was very surprised that he wore a hat.

I am use to seeing shadow people.

I've never seen a Hat Man before.

And from my own personal experience,

nothing like that has ever happened.

He was taller than usual.

The man was laying down.

And the shadow figure was
over him crouching over him.

So it's like how he was
taller than what I was seeing.

And he was very much, the
Hat Man was very much engaged

with the person, like they
were focused on that person.

It was a hat very much like
the one I'm wearing today.

And then I noticed more
of a coat or a cloak

over the rest of the figure

but it was very anthropomorphic,

it wasn't very specific
except for the hat.

And then the rest of the shadow.

I believe that the shadow entities

are fourth dimensional entities,

that they are souls or spirits like us

without the body.

However, they're starving, they're hungry.

They've lost some sort of light source.

And we have become their light source

or their source of food.

- It's like in the Bible,
it mentions the land of Nod.

However, in the Quran,

it says that God made a race
before they made mankind.

So after the angels, he made
a third race called jinn

and the jinn were quite
malevolent, quite evil creatures.

Physically, they'd be
tearing each other apart

for no apparent reason.

So God stripped them
of their physical form,

banished them to a dimension.

They didn't have a physical form.

So they couldn't do physical damage

so they became non-physical beings.

So I believe that dimension
is still around us.

The Bible may call it the land of Nod

and call these entities the
Nephilim or fallen angels.

Some of them use them, called them forth,

to make a physical temple.

In the physical world,

they put them into
physical bodies to do that

and then after you're done with them,

you put them into brass containers

and threw them into a salt Lake.

And then in the Jewish mysticism,

they call them dybbuks
or malevolent spirits.

The astral world to me looks very similar

to how it does now.

However, some people when
they're walking around

they had perhaps,

their guardian angel's with them

or entities with them.

And some people would have

reptilian looking type
creatures with them.

And they can see me,

these beings that were with them.

However, the people couldn't.

You've got a person standing there

and then behind them would be this being.

Sometimes it can be directly behind them

and they would just come out,

review and then go back behind.

But the shadow, the winged serpent,

that's well off.

And sometimes you would see the tail

so like at the nape of the neck.

And you look up and this
thing is well above them,

almost looking down on them.

Maybe even bent over
them, looking at them.

And it's got this menacing type

looking grain of teeth on it.

Have you heard of a guy called David Icke?

Hmm, yeah.

- Yeah, he has his little thing on,

well, I won't say little thing,

he's wrote a lot of books.

And I know that he gets
a lot of shtick for it

but he sticks to his guns.

And he says, no, I know what I've seen

and that's what I've seen
and I'm sticking with it.

And I felt he probably is
quite awakened individual.

I heard he goes tea drinking
ceremonies or Ayahuasca.

- I saw the Hat Man during a
Ayahuasca ceremony in Hawaii.

- That's DMT, dimethyltryptamine.

And he goes yearly for this tea.

Now that chemical is
produced by your pineal gland

of your brain and it helps you dream.

And it helps you with astral states.

And people who have this DMT
is all saying the same stuff.

The things that they see,
these entities that they see,

are quite reptilian, some give knowledge,

some are quite malevolent, some are okay.

And they say about the out of
body experiences they have.

The patterns of color.

They sound very similar to
my own near death experience.

A lot of people that are
having these experiences,

seem to be people with
the Rh negative gene.

Now Rh stands for Rhesus
which is the monkey gene

that should be in all of us.

However, science hasn't
gotten much of an explanation

for those who haven't got this Rh gene

in their blood stream.

It's like the Royal Family of the UK,

they're all Rh negative

and they want to preserve that bloodline.

You may have heard the term blue blood.

If you wanna start googling that,

that's pretty interesting.

And it's said that these people are having

more of these sort of
abduction type experiences,

seeing little gray creatures in their room

or the small black shadow entities

and having sleeping paralysis bouts.

So it could be that these
entities are interested

in this certain blood
group amongst humans.

- I discovered in the
course of my research

that a significant number of
shadow people experiencers

were also ET abductees.

And contactees as well.

But especially abductees.

And this information was volunteered.

And it was sort of like oh by the way,

I'm also an ET abductee if that helps.

Well, I noticed a very
high incidence of this,

higher than you would expect
for an overlap of experiences.

So, I started researching that.

And I went back to the
respondents in my database

to ask them about their ET experiences.

I also started including ET abduction

and encounter experiences
in my questionnaires.

And discovered that quite a few people

who were shadow people
experiencers also were abductees.

So going more deeply into that,

I discovered and this
took me quite some time

to piece together,

that the shadow people

will also proceed

or follow an abduction,

that is they'll show
up maybe a day or hours

before someone is going to be abducted

and they show up in the
aftermath of abductions.

They don't seem to be figures

who are doing the actual abducting.

So assuming then, that
shadow people are jinn

which I believe that they are,

then what are the jinn doing,
involved in ET abductions?

Are they working with aliens?

Are they shape shifting into aliens?

Are they spying on what
the aliens are doing?

What exactly is their role?

They may be interested
in the abduction scenario

to find out what's going on,

why are aliens interested in us.

It may be a way for them to
piggyback on the experience

because abductions are very terrifying.

And what the jinn want is

the human life force

which we give off in a
terrific wave of energy

when we're terrified.

It's the adrenaline fight or flight.

And I believe that the
jinn harvest this energy

so they may be piggybacking
on the abduction scenario

as a way of getting what
they want from human beings.

- In 1755, a drink was
produced that would take

the British public by storm.

Centuries later, that
very same drink is proving

popular around the world.

I've traveled to north Portugal,

famous for its heritage and
its beautiful countryside

and of course its very special
connections to port wine.

I'm with Mr. George Sandeman.

To one side of me,

there's the hustle and
bustle of the street.

And to the other side of me
is a beautiful calm river.

When do the old start off?

- Sandeman was founded in 1790.

But...
- Right.

- When George Sandeman came here,

there was already a
fairly strong beginnings

of a port trade.

Although it wasn't really
wines like we know today.

They were dry wines.

- Yeah.

Now something which I do
like about your marketing,

is that man, the dark cloak and the hat.

It's very mysterious, isn't it?

Where did that come from?

- Well, he was originally
known as the Sandeman.

And now today, he's known as
Don the Sandeman or the Don.

And that was actually,

it was drawn in 1928

and a man came from the
London Printing Company

in the city of London

and offered it to my great
grandfather who bought it.

It was actually drawn

an artist called George Massiot Brown.

He use to sign himself,

G. Massiot 'cause it sounded French.

- You know, after you mentioned
Babadook to me last time,

I actually rented that and watched it.

My girlfriend had rented it
before but I didn't watch it.

But, I watched it.

And the similarities on that,

I had to get up out of the room.

I had to leave the room.

I couldn't watch it.

Because it, all I seen
was him standing there,

in that television and doing those things.

Like I could literally
picture him honestly doing

that to somebody.

And the similarities of these characters,

that they're making now are so,

it's so real, so, the, the.

The visions I've seen of him

and then what they're making on TV.

It's too real to me to
sit and watch those.

I can't do it.

I have to get up and leave
the room and come back

and try to do it again.

And my panicking and anxiety
level go through the roof

when I watch it.

His photo and his image,

it's coming up everywhere in everything.

And I'm sure not all these
people have seen it, right.

So, they've got to get
the idea from somewhere

or the thought has come into their mind

from something or someone.

I honestly think he can
do whatever he wants to do

to influence somebody to visualize

and to create a character that is him.

He's the devil.

He can do whatever the hell he wants.

- You ever see those street watch signs

in your neighborhood?

Like, you know what I'm talking about?

Like those little burglars,

with the little hats

and the like high jacket piece,

I don't know what.

It kind of looks like that.

And I think, maybe what
the Hat Man is doing

is taking on like,

trying to adopt like something

that we're subconsciously afraid of.

Like, intruders.

- Like I said, it's Lucifer,
he can do whatever he wants.

He's the devil.

Just like people's God
can do things, you know.

He can manipulate you in
any which way you want to

to make you believe things,

to make you see things,

to make you do things.

You're pretty much putty in his hands.

I honestly think he can influence people.

I think he wants this energy out there

to be seen for some reason.

I don't know why.

If it's because he can connect
to more souls that way.

Because it's a fear that he's wanting,

that he feeds off, he feeds off our fear,

like it's,

it...

I don't know what it does to him

but he feeds off of it and he enjoys it.

And that's what he goes after.

What do you
think is the difference between

the Slender Man and the Hat Man?

Do you think Slender Man has a connection

or what's your opinion on that?

- I think they look very similar.

I think the similarities
are almost spot on.

I think whoever has seen the Slender Man,

has seen the Hat Man,
just without the hat,

in a different outfit or a different hat.

I think it's the same person.

I can't say person
'cause it's not a person,

it's a thing, an entity,
the devil, whatever.

It's Lucifer.

Just in a different form for that person.

That reminds of the Crooked Man

from The Conjuring 2.

How accurate or how close
is he to that character?

- Almost spot on, when I tell you spot on

with the smile, the eyes,
the hat, the clothes,

the height, the arms, the legs.

Um, it was really hard
for me to watch that.

And it's really hard for me
to look at pictures of that.

Right now, I don't know if
you can tell, but I'm shaking

just thinking about it.

Whoever did that,

I don't know if they knew
what the hell they were doing.

But they brought him to
life in that character.

He, yeah, they brought.

That's almost spot on with him.

- Freddy came into my
life at a convenient time.

He came into what we call
in the business a hiatus.

And he fit perfectly into that.

And I don't look for any omens,

there but it was a real neat fit.

And it coincided and
dovetailed so perfectly

with this little gentle character

that this wimp Robert was also
portraying at the same time.

And illuminated an entire
dynamic of A to Z emotionally,

that that actor Robert Englund has,

that I believe that
Freddy came into my life,

I didn't come into his life.

I believe that Wes Craven let
him out of his cage somewhere

or this spirit out of a cage somewhere

and I walked into the,
collided with those atoms

and we've sort of
fortunately or unfortunately,

been intertwined ever since.

- I noticed some pictures
just came on my phone.

And I hadn't taken them.

And I hadn't been anywhere that I,

and um,

they just appeared.

And so,

one of him, he's right beside me.

Like you can see the smile.

It's.

It's scary because

I don't remember going anywhere

and to have him right there in it,

is terrifying.

Then I have others,
photos that have appeared

and it's him in them too,

that I have not taken.

And there are some that I have taken

that were in my apartment

and those are the ones that I took,

the ones that are in my apartment.

But the one's where I'm places
that I have no earthly idea

where it even is,

just appeared on my phone.

Like out of no where.

And like if I go back
and look at the date,

if I go back and look at the date,

I was sound asleep in my
bed with my girlfriend.

So how that happened, I have no idea.

I think that he is Lucifer
in the flesh, honestly.

When he pierces into you,

with his eyes into your soul,

that's all you feel is, oh my God,

that's the devil right there.

Oh my God, he's coming
for my soul, this is it.

It's...

It's...

It shakes my soul, honestly.

Um...

There's the one where he's peaking around.

There's one where he's just
standing and you're like,

you can make out you
know, that outline of him.

There's one where his
face is right beside mine.

But see, when I see him
sometimes like that,

I don't just see him.

I see all the spirits
that he's taken with him.

Around him.

Attached to him.

Like they're just glued
everywhere on his body.

And when he walks, it's like,

when he walks and,

when he walks it's like it goes with him.

It's almost like a covering,
a cloak that follows with him

and behind him, you know.

It was him and then all these
spirit bodies around him.

And I've seen him like that
sitting on my bed before.

Yeah, I got
invited to a mansion.

It was the Ukrainian.

It was the prime minister of Ukraine.

It was the ex-prime
minster, Pavlo Lazarenko.

I guess he got locked up
for like money laundering.

And one of my friends, he like, I guess,

he broke in.

But I didn't know so,

so we're partying.

I sat down on the second floor balcony,

the inside balcony.

And then, my friend, he
took some photos of me

and then I just like flipped through them,

and then I saw the hat
shadow figure behind me.

I told my friend to
take multiple pictures.

I wanted to pick out which one I liked.

So, he took some pictures.

And then as I got the pictures,

I looked at 'em and I then saw
the shadowy figure behind me

which it gave me like
goose bumps, you know.

'Cause I never seen something like that.

So like in the photo,

you can kind of like see

where it's like choppy a little bit,

like around my neck.

I've noticed, I always
thought like that was like him

like grabbing onto my neck or something.

Or maybe it's just like behind it.

Maybe that's like his hip or something.

But I don't know, you
know, like behind my neck,

you can kind of tell.

But I always thought
like that was like his,

like his hands grabbing onto me,

if he was facing towards me.

Because and also when
that photo was tooken,

I was getting the goosebumps.

Like there was something behind me, like,

I didn't know.

Like I just though it was cold
maybe inside or something.

But I didn't know when
I was filmed like that.

I just thought it was cold
or something in there.

Wow, that's very...

And then like
after I seen the photo,

I got even like the chills
and more goosebumps.

I was like whoa.

Like, I started,

like freaking out, I was like,

this is unreal.

I just like got something on camera

that no one will even believe, you know.

Like, this was in 2012.

And I don't know exactly
what kind of phone.

I just know it was a flip phone.

It had like a small screen.

It just had the buttons,
you know, for the call

or to hang up and then the
phone with the numbers.

I think he's an evil entity.

But he,

I think like he's slowly,
you know like, haunts you.

I don't think he like, you know,

throws the book at you like fully.

But he's just,

he's oh yeah,

if you got negative energy around you,

like he feeds off of that.

Like, it adds onto his fire.

It helps him out to you know,

to spread more bad
negative energy around you.

And then, he latches, you know.

He latches onto you.

When I like bring up the Hat Man,

I feel like I'm bringing him back.

I like look to the side
while I'm in my living room.

And I look inside my room.

You know, since I like to
turn off my lights off.

I like you know, like a
movie theater, I watch TV.

So, I'm looking to my
side and then I feel like

I see a shadow person,
like, go by real fast.

Or even like, it even
looks like a Hat Man.

But I know it's a shadow.

I get up if it bothers me.

And then I look and it's
just one of my peacoats.

You know, like, my black peacoat.

And it's just in the shape of you know,

like the Hat Man or whatever.

I guess 'cause I be like,

I'll have Hat Man on my mind or whatever

'cause I'll followup
with this documentary.

So, it kind of, I don't know,

it kind of haunts ne
a little bit, I guess.

I guess I get paranoid.

Nobody is really
able to get a photo of him.

So, I decided to look through
all my old photos on Facebook.

And as I'm looking through 'em,

I only found two where it looks

like Hat Man was in the background

and one of them was at
that wedding we were at.

I was going through the photos

and I have hundreds and hundreds

of photos on Facebook, right.

I've had Facebook since
2008 or something like that.

Whenever it came out,
I don't even remember.

So I was going through all these photos,

just clicking through and then,

when I got to these wedding photos,

I started slowing down.

I don't exactly understand
why I suppose I took more time

to stare at 'em.

And then by the back by the pillar,

you can see this dude,
who's extremely tall

in comparison to everybody else.

And you can see his
shoulders coming upward

but then when it get to his head,

you can see the beginning
of the outline of a hat

but then it just kind of blurs away.

So if you look at it,

it's almost as if he's
missing the very top portion

of his head 'cause it
just fades into a blur

but the rest of his body is
very dark and thick like dense.

What vibes did that give you

when you kind of realized,

could this possibly be
him in the background?

For a lack of a better
word, chills down my spine

and the ole goosebumps,
the whole nine yards.

And then I remember feeling cold.

However, my wife always keeps
the heat on in the house

and so I was so extremely
warm in the house.

So it was really strange
to me, why I felt so cold

'cause I grew up just north of Chicago

so I'm use to the cold weather
and I enjoy the cold weather.

But I didn't enjoy this cold weather.

There's a woman standing
right next to him in the photo

and she's almost as if she's
looking straight through him,

like he's not even there.

With the military,

the fear is they're
all their own separate,

this, this, this and this.

If you take it one step at a time,

you take one fear at a time,

you can move onto the next
one, then to the next one,

then to the next one

and you can maintain it
and you can handle it.

And then that becomes routine.

And that becomes your
lowest level of training.

And even though you're still
afraid of what could go wrong,

you're still confident
that you can get through it

because you have.

But with this,

there is no lowest level of training.

It's trying to rationalize the irrational.

And you can't.

That's what makes it irrational.

So it's an always losing battle.

And even through I've seen
the Hat Man my whole life,

you can't prepare for it.

Even though I know what to expect,

it's fresh and new every single time.

Because the dread you get is,

it's not in your mind.

It's...

It's out of your soul, I guess?

And then I woke up in my living room

where I fell asleep on the couch,

and I looked to the left of me

and he was sitting right next to me

within arm's reach.

And that's when his
face wasn't in shadows.

It was all contorted and it
was like all eyes or nose.

Just a big huge grin.

And he was just,

I wanna say he was staring right at me

even though I couldn't see his eyes.

And it terrified me.

Like I have never felt
much dread all at one time.

This was just one big collective,

someone grabbing me by the back of my soul

and ripping it downward kind of thing.

And it scared the hell out of me.

'Cause like the fear
you get is in your mind

from everything the
military and police work

and et cetera.

But this is just, nah.

Really made himself known

that I'm not suppose to like this guy.

That I'm not suppose to
think that he could be

something good.

And after I saw him, I woke back up again

in the same exact position.

So it was like a dream
inside a dream kind of thing.

And then I didn't sleep

for about a day and a half after that.

- He's been a figure in
my life for 30 plus years.

And he had been shadowed
for a long time with me

except for his eyes.

I'd never see, actually
seen his face, face.

It had always been shadowed.

And then now, every time that I see him,

I see his whole face.

I actually see his face.

And.

I think that's even scarier
than just seeing his eyes

'cause the whole contour of his face,

the shape of his face,

the gestures that he carries,

the emotions that are
just there on his face

are totally terrifying.

I think I was less terrified of him

when I didn't see his face.

To know that actually there's
a full face and body and,

you can actually see it
all is more terrifying

than just thinking that
you're seeing a shadow

of somebody there,

that maybe that person's not really there.

But to see the whole thing.

Um.

Is...

Totally terrifying to me.

Oh yeah, my anxiety, my chest gets deep

and my anxiety level gets crazy.

It's almost like a panic
attack wants to start.

But then as I keep talking,

I just push right through it like, its,

terror inside me

that I just have to keep going though.

I mean I can't,

I can't give into it

or he wins.

At the closet.

Can you describe that story?

- He came out.

I was just.

We were sitting there
watching TV, I think it was.

All of a sudden,

it was like he was gonna
come out of my closet

and come into the living
room where we were at.

But it was just his head came,
like he was peaking to see

if anybody was there.

And his hand was on the door,

doorway.

And he was slowly coming out
like he got to his shoulders.

And smiled at me.

And went back into the closet.

Slowly.

And then, there's been other times

where like when he was peaking

around the corner with my son.

Um.

We both seen him there.

Most of the time, it was in
the old apartment that we had.

I don't know why it was stronger
in that old apartment but,

it definitely was, so.

We've been sitting on the
bed and he's been there.

We've seen the shadow of him
and then all of a sudden,

I'll turn around and he's been there.

You know, you always hear
about oh, we see a ghost

of a little girl on the side
of the road, or whatever.

But, to actually see somebody
that's been haunting you

for your whole life and being there

and actually go through it

is weird 'cause he just stands there.

We're going down this,

this little two lane old
highway type back road

that goes from San Springs to another town

that's out in the country
and so we're just driving.

And it's late at night.

And all of a sudden, he's there.

And I'm not driving.

I'm riding in the passenger seat.

And I see him and I say
hey, did you just see that?

And they're like, no.

Well then I say, hey
did you see that again?

There's a man standing on the
side of the road right there

and they're like, yeah, we see him.

What is he doing?

And so, we're driving and
he's still standing there.

And we're staring at him
and he's staring back at us.

And then, all of a sudden, he's gone.

But just his head though,
it's just his head.

And he's like staring at the car

and we're staring at him like this.

And then, as we're passing, he smiles.

And turns like that.

His, well you can see the white,

like he's shaded.

Like his hat like shades him

but you can tell the
difference in the coloring

around his eyes.

His face part is lighter and
then his eyes get pitch black.

Oh just
like your drawing, right?

The drawing you did
where he's smiling and?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Absolutely.

I think that he is Lucifer
in the flesh honestly.

When he pierces into you with
his eyes, into your soul,

that's all you feel is, oh my God,

that's the devil right there.

Oh my God, he's coming for my soul.

This is it.

It's...

It's...

It shakes my soul, honestly.

Okay, I'd seen him the first time

and then it was a couple of months later,

I had awoken.

And I had a horrible dream and had awoken.

And he was sitting on the end of my bed

with his eyes yellow just glowing at me

with a smile on his face like he was.

Not really there to comfort me

but was happy about what
was happening to me.

You know, like, it was totally terrifying.

I was like maybe seven.

And screamed to the top of my lungs.

And my aunt and uncle ran
in there and he was gone.

It's like it goes from
this side of his face

all the way.

It's almost like, I say the Cheshire Cat

'cause that's what I relate
it to, Alice In Wonderland.

When the whole cat is gone

and then just the smile is there, of his.

Almost like, a creature's
teeth that would just,

ravish you.

Like they would chew you to the bone

and just I don't know how to explain it

besides they look like
some creature's teeth

that would just tear you
to shreds and not stop.

- The eyes were like abnormally huge.

Almost exactly like the Cheshire cat,

the grin reached like either side.

'Cause I found it odd that the hat covered

like half of the face.

Yet you could still see
the full size of the eyes.

And they were yellow with slits.

And the teeth were also yellow.

Like really sharp.

They were all sharp like needles.

It was like thinner at the end and then,

wider in the middle.

But it was like.

You know.

It was like super, it wasn't
even like a smile and grin,

it was like,

like a predator or like
when a cat is like,

or a big cat is like ready
to kill or something.

It's like real animalistic
kind of like snarl.

- I've seen the shadow people with him.

I've seen like I said, the
black-eyed children with him.

There's one where it was him
and the old hag in my room.

And he was standing over
towards like the corner

on one side of my door and she was sitting

on a rocking chair at the end of my bed

singing a song about
wanting to take my soul.

He was just standing
there but you could see,

you know, that he shadowed
but you could tell

his eyes were different than

what the rest of his body was.

When I talked to you one time,

I started getting poked by something.

I'm like what the hell and
it just kept stabbing me.

Another time where I was messaging you,

I ended up getting red
marks on my arms where

like somebody was grabbing me

or trying to cut me or something.

But there was red marks on my arm.

I mentioned something to
my girlfriend about it

and she was like, he's pissed off

because he doesn't want you
to say anything to anybody.

He doesn't want your story
out there, is what she said.

- There are many ways that
people can ward off attacks

and even prevent attacks
from happening again.

What works for one person

won't necessarily work for another.

One of the most common remedies

against repeated shadow person visits is

to turn on a light on.

And to leave lights on and televisions

and also computers.

It seems that the generation
of electrical fields

and electromagnetic fields

has a disrupting effect
on the entity's ability

to manifest and remain in
a room or an environment.

- A lot of entities,
there's been reports like

you turn the lights on and
they're not there anymore.

So, maybe that's the easy thing
to do, turn on the lights.

Except if there's still there afterward,

I'd, yeah, I'd be worried.

- Many people have
found religious remedies

to be very successful, as well.

They may call upon religious figures

such as in Christianity,
calling upon Jesus or Mary

or the Saints,

even calling upon God.

Reciting certain prayers
like the Lord's Prayer.

In Islam, there are prayers
and verses from the Quran

that are cited that are very effective.

Every religion in fact,
has prayers and verses

from sacred text and scriptures

that repel the unwanted and negative.

It's not unusual for skeptics to say that,

people are having fantasy experiences

or that this is just the
remnants of a nightmare

that people were still
dreaming a nightmare

and they thought they were awake

if it's a bedroom invasion.

And in the course of my work,

as a paranormal researcher
and investigator,

I've never felt obliged to
try to convince skeptics

because many of them are
not going to be convinced.

But I'm convinced

because we have too many

of these experiences that
fit the same patterns.

Thousands and thousands of them,

just the tip of the iceberg.

People all over the world
who never met each other,

never knew anything about shadow people

or the Hat Man or the jinn,

are shocked to discover

that they are having similar experiences

to encounters that have been
described throughout the ages.

So the experiential
evidence speaks for itself.

And for many skeptics,
that's still not enough.

They will not be convinced until they too,

have their own experience.

They're really that tall?

- Yeah.
