All language subtitles for 23. Apply chroma key to your footage

So let's move on to applying the Chroma key to our green screen footage.

Now I have provided a clip for you to use along with a background, so to access those and bring them

into formula.

Just come to the dropdown here.

Come to import a media folder, come down to the film or a project which is just here comes the dropdown

and then just click on green screen and then click OK.

So you should end up with these two pieces of media.

Now, first and foremost, what I need to do is just bring in the green screen footage, so I'll bring

that into track one and I'm just going to click on Match two media.

OK, so that's looking pretty good.

So the car to this green screen footage, I put this together with a board that I found and I had to

basically mix some blue and yellow paint to make this green background.

Now it's not the exact shade of green, but like I mentioned in the PowerPoint tutorial, it doesn't

have to be perfect.

But if you can make the green an even shade as possible, that really does help a lot.

And the reason why I've made it so small as well is just because I don't actually have a green screen

and I don't use green screens usually.

So I basically had to put one together just for this tutorial.

But whatever we do with this green screen footage, the same principle applies whether you're using

a green screen that's 20 feet by 20 feet tall and wide, and you've got a car in front of it.

The same principles still apply now just before we move on, just to let you know if you wants to further

your training with with the green screen.

What you could do is you could come to the sample green screen videos here, of which this 10 of them

and you can just click on them to download them and then just click hold and drag and pull them into

the timeline here.

And you can experiment with these videos as well.

And as you can see, they are some pretty cool animations, but I'll just delete that because I don't

want that right now.

So first and foremost, I'm just going to lower the volume on this clip because we don't need the volume.

It's just just me moving around with my hand.

So what we want to do now is just bring this to somewhere around the beginning.

So something like that, and right click come to video and then click on green screen.

Now, what you need to do is and the reason why this has gone black straight away is just because I've

already done this and it's already it's already registered the color, but basically you need to click

on the color picker here and then pick on a certain shade of green within the green screen.

And then you should end up with this black coloured behind.

Now what we can do is we can all just for now click OK, come to media project fi, project media.

Click and drag and pull the background.

Actually, what we need to do is we need to add another video tracks that has come to the track manager.

Click on Add Video Track and I'm going to click and drag and pull this up onto the top track here.

Because our footage, our video or our video footage and you can use whatever you want, needs to go

behind the green screen footage.

So I'll bring in my photograph.

And of course, I'll just click hold and drag and pull this to the end.

And as you can see, the actual aspect ratio of this photograph is a little bit too narrow.

So what I will do is I'll just lock track number two and let it double click on the photograph itself.

Go to these points here.

I'll just drag these points out.

To make it full frame and was position it down a little bit as well.

OK, so just click in the timeline here.

Now, just let you know if you find that the background footage is a little bit too dull.

Remember, you can just right click on it, go to color color correction, then come to color, and

then you want to just bump up the exposure to make it brighter and quite possibly deal with some of

the other settings if you want.

And of course, you can add some saturation if you find that the green screen isn't bringing out enough

color, so you can just adjust the background if you want.

OK, so now you can click OK.

I'll unlock the green screen footage and to get to the settings because the green screen is already

applied.

You can just double click on the clip.

And now we're ready to go.

When you first do this, you may find that you may be presented with something that looks like this,

and what you need to do is you basically need to adjust the offset.

To a certain level, about halfway and then start to adjust the tolerance.

And at some point.

You should get the picture in the background show up like that, so the pictures looking nice and bright

and I can just press play.

And actually, if your computer is fast enough, you could at this point just set this to fool.

So you can see there's a bit of interference here.

Maybe the tolerance is a little bit too high.

So.

Well, maybe I need set at higher again, you just need to do whatever you want in order to make it

look nice.

OK, so that's looking pretty good now with regard to these two settings here we have edge thickness

if you play around with this.

You can see we have this sort of gray border show up around the the subjects in the foreground, which

in this case is my my right hand.

And you just want to have this just.

At the right points, because if you bring it down too low, it eats into the subject.

And if you bring it too high, we have that gray border, so you just want it just right.

Just so it's it can't be seen the gray border can't be seen and nothing is being eaten into.

Then we have feather edge.

OK, so that's looking pretty good, so let's us bring this to the beginning.

OK, so that's not bad.

Let's go to the box and see what this looks like.

Okay.

Yeah, I think that looks pretty good.

OK, so like I said, the settings themselves are actually pretty simple.

The main ones I suppose you want to focus on first and foremost is the offset and the tolerance.

And of course, are just brightening up the background picture or the video, depending on what you

want to use, just so that it's nice and bright in the background.

So that's pretty much it for green screen.

And as you can see, it's not all that difficult.

I would say it's it's not it's not difficult.

It's not black magic, which is exactly what I thought it was when I first saw it some, many years

ago.

It's pretty simple.

So anyway, we'll move on now.
