I came here by Korean Government Invitation Program scholarship

many people have similar answers

It might be confusing because

many people use terms like

'Arabic country', 'Middle Eastern country' or 'Islamic country'

I didn't know the three have different meaning either

Yes, they're all different

Middle East is a geographical term

Countries in the Middle East = Middle Eastern country

Countries that use Arabic = Arabic country

Countries that believe in Islam = Islamic country

For example, Iran is in the Middle East

but it's not an Arabic country

because they don't speak Arabic

And Malaysia is an Islamic country

but it's not an Arabic country nor is it in the Middle East

That's the difference

and Ça va (How are you?) is French

you're speaking 3 languages at once

Inshallah

It means 'if God wills'

So when we plan something

and someone says 'Should we go to Han River?'

we say Inshallah(Good!), it's like saying 'I'll go if God wishes'

The meaning also differs depending on the accent

Inshallah = No way!

Oh, like 'I'm not going'

Like 'You can go! Alone! I'm not going!'

It's similar to 'yes' in Korean like how the accent changes meaning

Yes, we call this 'Hijab'

Muslims traditionally wear Hijab

In Korea, it seems like

people mix up the words Islam and Muslim

Can you make it clear?

Islam is a religion like Christianity and Buddhism

People who believe in Islam are Muslims

Then are you Muslim as well?

Yes, of course~

If you see anyone wearing a hijab like this

they're definitely a Muslim

Are there many Muslims

in Lebanon like you?

Yes, since Lebanon has diverse culture

there are many religions too

So there are Muslims wearing hijabs like me

but there are Christians and people with other religions as well

I thought most Middle Eastern countries believe in Islam

That's why I had an impression

that they all wear hijab like Ruaa

But originally hijabs

should be worn for religious reasons

There are people that choose not to wear hijab

Lebanon seems to be a peaceful country respecting each other

But there are fights because of these diversity

Actually countries like Israel and Syria

that border with Lebanon

I thought they have conflicts when watching the news

Lebanon right next to them sounds peaceful

Yes, there actually has been civil war due to religious conflicts

The government made many policies to
prevent it from happening again

For example the Lebanese president must be a Christian

and the prime minister must be a Muslim

Also the National Assembly divides based on religious sect

It's cool that religions are involved in the politics

Is Lebanon safer these days?

Because of the recession these days

people are angrier these days

everyone talks about the war

But there isn't a war right now

but that's just for Lebanese people

So there wouldn't be any problem if Koreans go to Lebanon to travel
