It was more to do with

I really care about my work Karan.
I really do.

I am very passionate about cinema

I am really passionate
about being in this profession.

I take my work very seriously.

And somewhere down the line,
when I made my debut,

that is somehow, I came across
that way to the audience.

That here is someone who wants to be
an actor, who wants to be known.

There was a physicality
that I brought up,

-I was very unique in that sense.

I made my debut
as a grey shaded actor.

I did 2 States after that.

I presented myself in the best
way possible and along,

with all my producers
and the way I was showcased.

-I think I set a standard.

And the audience accepted me,

And then I think I let myself down.

I let the audience down
I let my films down.

That I wasn't able to keep up
the high standards,

that I had only set.

And somewhere that started showing,
an attitude,

or a feeling to the outer audience,

that I am lazy,
I am laid back, I don't care.

I am not bothered
or I am not capable enough

to present myself in the best way
possible and I think,

it was also the time of transition

where social media
become more relevant.

I was not on social media
in my most successful phase,

my first four years,
I only came on a bit after.

I told you though.

You guys told me
to come on and I think...

Did you feel that you received
a lot of hatred at that point?

Because there were some trolling.

See I have received hatred
all through

the social media existence.

So, I am used to it but with you
I felt there was also harshness.

-There was trolling that was unfair.

It was very mean.

It became more and more
as the films didn't do well.

And I come out with my personal life

and the fact that I was looking
a certain way.

I think it is a combination
of all 3.

And then trolling has no end,
once it starts, it's just.

-It is very unfair also.

It is like a forest fire,
and then it just spreads

and then it becomes loose,
like everybody says it.

Even jokingly,
even you make fun of yourself.

And then I realized
I am not that person, I care.

So do you feel like,
you want to kind

of turn a deaf ear
to what people are writing.

-Not at all.
-Or do you want to actually

-listen to it and work on it.
-Not at all.

See I don't want
to listen to the trolls,

I want to continue to get respect
from my audience.

I want to tell them
I am here for you.

So, me putting myself out there,
was a way of telling them,

listen I am working towards it.

That's good that you're actually
even acknowledged the fact,

that you may have gone
wrong in those years.

-That you may have actually.
-I definitely did.

Maybe you may have fallen
off the wagon, in certain ways.

Unknowingly.

And before you realize it,
it's late.

But the other thing that I want
to ask, maybe Sonam I can ask you.

You'll are siblings and have been
close for like decades.

You know it was a tough time
for Arjun, even post his mother,

-he was very close to her.

And then he was in a turbulent
relationship,

which actually everybody knew about,

but wasn't speaking about.

We all knew
we were always empathetic.

And always you know.

I didn't know.

You didn't know.

You weren't told.

Listen, at the end of the day.

Regardless of all that,
I think it all started from mum,

and it just spiralled.

And then I kept my
chin up and my head high,

I wanted to make a name for myself.

So, I just kept going.

There has not been a time where

his personal life hasn't been hard.

issues when it comes to our weight,
food, etc.

And that comes
from an emotional place, always.

of chips,

or let me just have this.

You can't always take care
of yourself,

sometimes you need somebody
around to take care of you.

I am just too independent a person.

I don't think I will ever
pick up the phone to Sonam and say,

that I am in a situation
where I need,

I have become so used to being
alone, and being the older brother,

being the understanding friend,
or being somebody.

So that's what I was getting to,
which

I know that it has been tough
for you.

So, when you did come out officially
with your relationship with Malaika.

Sonam, did you feel that
you needed to give him that support?

-Because it was something that.

That was tough.
Even the relationship was difficult.
