did when he got to Morraine

was to find a suitable room.

This one was on the top
floor of a two-story house

run by an elderly

were Allison's secret.

That was the way he
preferred it anyway.

On his second day in
Morraine, Allison got a job

with the Continental Mine
Corporation as a pick man,

working deep in the earth

to hack away the
black walls of coal.

Allison did his job well.

Harry Vladek, his
foreman, was pleased,

but not half so pleased
as young Allison.

The first step of the
plan was accomplished.

The second step of
the plan was the easiest,

a visit to The Rib,

a cheap dive frequented
by mine workers.

Specialty of the
house: spare ribs.

I just want a drink.

Allison was now a member
of Major Charlie Byron's gang.

Plan #3 had been
painfully accomplished.

Allison's first job
was as a satchel man.

He went around to the
saloons and the speakeasies

collecting money for the whiskey

that had been
bought from the Major.

Once a week, it
was Allison's job

to count the whiskey
that was being dropped

at a big barn
outside of Morraine.

The following morning,

Allison wrote a
note to Eliot Ness.

It said, quotes, "I'm in.

"I had to use my head
to do it: 12 stitches worth.

"Major keeps whiskey
in barn off Derwin Road.

"Sheriff Parker might
like to know about it.

"Don't worry about me.

I'm above suspicion."

Big shipment tonight,
the Major tells me.

Yeah?

Three truckloads, he says.

Is that what he said?

Yeah.

He don't tell me

Maybe it just slipped his mind.

was going to be
driving the murder car.

Sheriff Parker had
dressed quickly

and was hurrying to his office
to pick up a squad of deputies.

When Allison left Hazel Stanley,

he drove home and
wrote a note to Eliot Ness

about the plot to bomb
Sheriff Parker's car,

unaware that the
plot was a phony one

and that Sheriff Parker
had been murdered

only a minute before.

Then he waited
for the sun to rise

so that he could
release the pigeon,

a full hour to wait.

Time moved slowly
for young Allison

while Ness and his
men raced against time.

Sit down, whatever your name is.

In the army, when
we caught a spy,

we conducted our
own court-martial.
