why can't I have a beard?

I wanted to play
with masculinity and femininity,

a little bit of androgyny
mixed with something very
feminine,

my curves and this femme fatale
character

mixed with something that
traditionally
is very masculine, like a beard.

And, in the end, they started
booking me
and that's how I got started.

I started mostly as a go-go
dancer.

I focused a lot on aesthetic

and then I discovered that I
really like
the stage and performing and
especially...

I was a big fan of Dita Von
Teese,

the way she undresses.

That always got my attention.

I always liked that.

What does being here
right now mean to you?

For me...

It's really amazing.
I still don't believe it.

Just being here with Sharonne
and Venedita

and everyone who has gone home,
it's really helped me to grow.

And then, on a professional
and personal level, being here

makes me feel like
I'm reaping what I've sown.

I want to go back to the
beginning now.

what went through your head

and inspired this woman
that we've all fallen in love
with:

Estrella Xtravaganza.

Girl, it was totally random.

It was really random,
but it was one of those things
that,

in hindsight, you think,

"It's fate."

That's really what it felt like.

It was a night out.
You say, "What am I going to
do?"

so you seduce a guy and say,
"I'll spend the night with this
guy."

Then it's like, "How do I get
rid of him?

"I don't know what to do."

I went outside and he was like,
"Come back to my place."

I didn't feel like it, but he
insisted.

Then I saw three queens out
front
and I said, "That's it.

"Start talking to these three
queens
and he'll fuck off."

And I remember telling them
that he was into me,

that he liked me, and they said,
"Take my number.

"You're coming with us."

They were the ones who did my
makeup
the first fifty times.

And they became like a family to
me.

Without expecting them to,
they welcomed me in

and changed my life.

But, no matter what changes
or how Estrella evolves,

humor has always been a part of
you.

For me, yeah.

For me, comedy has always been
at the center of everything

and the heart of who I am.

I always think, we all have our
problems,

but, at the end of the day,
if we tackle them with humor,

everything feels much more
manageable.

Do you see yourself
in the new Gran Hotel de las
Reinas?

Of course I see myself in it!

I totally see myself in it.

I've been thinking about
the show for a while.

For real.

I'm already thinking, if you
want to do
something like Britney in Las
Vegas.

If you want to do something

I don't know.

Because I want to do so many
things,
so I want it to be a one-woman
show.

of experience in performing.

Does that weigh on you
when you enter a competition
like this?

Yeah. On one hand, you think,
"Oh, my God, what if I go home
first?"

With all of your experience.
So that gives you pause.

But later, as you're competing,

you realize that the background
you have

and everything you've done
and your experience working,

-[Supremme] Absolutely.

How has Sharonne evolved over
the years?

Well, it's been a major
evolution

and I don't think
you ever stop evolving either.

I remember in the beginning,
when I started working as a drag
queen,

the looks and the makeup
I was doing and, honestly...

Do you remember what year that
was?

I'm 45 now,

so around... I think I was
twenty...

25, maybe, or 26 when I started.

Who are Sharonne's role models?

What references did you have in
mind
when you started creating

this alter ego for Cristóbal?

Well, my father worked the
counter

at La Caixa, Sabadell.

-[Supremme] Uh-huh.
-[Sharonne] And they gave him
records

every year with songs
by different singers.

And those records had Boney M.,

Aretha Franklin...
I don't know. Chaka Khan...

-[Supremme] Right.
-[Sharonne] Singers they didn't
know,

so they threw them away. But

to me.

I listened to them and thought,

And my mother said,

and the people who trained me,
artistically, and shaped my
taste.

Later, obviously,
when I discovered Cher...

I said,

Earth."

What does being a drag queen
mean to you?

Everything and nothing.

Why?

Well, Marina was born
from my imagination, my
fantasies,

so she's whatever I want her to
be,

but, at the same time, she's not
real.

She's an abstraction, she's a
concept

that allows me to play and
experiment

and dress however I want
and everything drag is about,
right?

But my goal was never really
to be a drag queen.

It's just that, when I started
exploring
and playing around with dressing
up,

I had to give a name
to the character I was creating.

That's how Marina was born.

Marina is the femininity that I
have
come to realize I have in me.

What have you learned on
Drag Race,
during your time on the show,

and what are you going
to take away from it?

That's a really good question,
but it might be a bit early.

I'm going to realize

what I've learned with time.

But what I'm beginning to figure
out
is a little more about who
Marina is.

Ultimately, she's a very social
person,
even if she's a little more
introspective

and slightly introverted. I'm
very social

and I realized that through the
bonds
I have forged in my everyday
life,

where I can come up with ideas,
I feel like myself, and I feel
creative.

Do you see yourself as a winner?

Of course I see myself as a
winner.
