who let her into the building

must be one of these four people,

who were all backstage around
the time of the murder.

cut the lights and fired the blank shot.

Which is where we get to
the part of this case

that's been bugging me
right from the start.

How was the killer able
to make such an accurate shot

in pitch darkness?

The only thing we found on
Trenton's body

at the crime scene here
was his mobile phone.

Which, of course, lights up
when you touch the screen.

Layla told Marlon that
Trenton wanted to be the one

to call the police
so he would look innocent.

He said he wanted to call
the police himself

to make sure that he looked innocent.

Now, just suppose, just for a second,

that the killer somehow heard about
Trenton's plan in advance.

That would mean that they knew
that when Trenton pulled

the phone out of his pocket
and held it up to dial the number,

they would be able to use
the light from the phone screen

to make that accurate shot.

So, the question now is,

did anyone know about Trenton's
plan in advance?

Layla, you told us that Trenton
first outlined his scheme

when you visited him at his studio.

I went to his studio and he
told me he wanted me

to fire a blank gunshot during
the sound check at a gig.

Now I need you to think very carefully -

did you see anyone else there that day?

Yeah. She was there.

But Trenton sent her out
when I got there.

Well, Erica, that makes sense,

because that is your footprint.

Which, in turn, means that it was
you that killed Trenton Isaac.

My guess is that when Layla was
there at the studio that day,

you overheard Trenton
outlining his plan to her.

And then, once you knew
Layla's part in it,

you then went out and got hold of
a second identical gun

and a silencer and hid it on you
when you came here to the gig.

After Trenton's sound check,

you, Jadesola and Ajay
all headed off backstage.

You claimed you were in
the bathroom doing your make-up.

But you came back, didn't you?

You snuck back here

and you hid somewhere
on this side of the stage.

There's plenty of drapes
and speakers and

it wouldn't be difficult
to hide yourself from view.

So that, when Layla arrived,
got into position,

cut the lights and fired the blank shot,

and Trenton took out his phone
to dial the police,

you were able to appear from here.

Making sure that you were
about the same distance from him

as Layla was on the other
side of the stage,

you were able to use the light from
the screen on his phone

to raise your gun and make that shot.

In the few moments before
the lights came back up,

it would have been easy enough
to hide yourself back there.

And you knew that everyone would
rush to the stage

when they heard the gunshot. Trenton!

So, it was just a matter of
waiting behind there

and then appearing behind them
as if you'd come from backstage.

In the confusion and panic,
nobody noticed

when you picked up the casing
from the bullet you fired,

and then Trenton's phone.

So now you had two tasks to perform.

First of all, you had to replace
Trenton's phone,

and secondly you had to
dispose of the murder weapon

and the casing from
the bullet you'd fired.

Well, we know Officer Pryce here
cleared the crime scene.

But there were just a few moments
when he had to be outside

talking to the security guard.

That must have been when you
snuck back in here

and replaced Trenton's mobile,

only for me to find it soon after.

You can't prove any of this.

Well, that actually brings us
full circle.

Back to the footprint.

See, when we first saw this
pile of sand here,

we just assumed it had fallen from
one of the stage weights.

You know, maybe a...

Maybe a bag had torn or something.

But now, we know that the sand spilled

because you lowered this one...

..opened it...

..and disposed...

..of these inside it.

So, yes, I can prove it.
