EPISODE 22

The Imperial Camp has recently made an excellent crossbow.

Father, would you like to go out and see it?

What is its range?

From East Palace all the way to Chengming Palace.

If you don't believe me, Father,

you can test it yourself.

If I do,

I'll be testing more than just the crossbow.

I treat my father with the utmost respect,

but somehow, he remains coldhearted to me.

He left me no choice.

Hear me, my people.

I, Ning Chuan, hereby declare war

against my own father and all his evil underlings

in order to restore order to society!

I, Ning Chuan, am willing to go down in history as a traitor!

We pledge our lives to Your Royal Highness!

We pledge our lives to Your Royal Highness!

We pledge our lives to Your Royal Highness!

We pledge our lives to Your Royal Highness!

IMPERIAL ARMY

Chief Gu.

Official Zhao, the Princess is here.

You're just in time, Chief Gu.

His Majesty is expecting you.

I'll serve the Princess now.

Yes, please.

This way.

-Official Zhao. -Your Highness.

Why did my father come to the suburban Imperial Camp?

He even asked Chief Gu to escort me.

I kept asking him on our way here, but he wouldn't tell me.

Official Zhao, what's going on here?

Well, not much really.

His Majesty is suddenly in the mood for some hunting,

so he brought you here with him.

Really?

He finally wants to see me?

-Great, I have so many things to tell him! -Please hold on, Your Highness.

Please don't get too excited, Your Highness.

His Majesty had a long trip and is resting.

Why don't you go to your tent first,

and let me report to you later?

This way, Your Highness.

Fair enough. I can wait.

Yes.

Thank you, Official Zhao.

You don't have to say that,

Your Highness.

Take good care of yourself.

Yes, sir.

Excuse me, Your Highness.

Is that bastard serious?

Where is he now?

Your Majesty,

the former Crown Prince has taken Mingde Gate,

and is now invading the inner palace.

Where is Prince of Chu?

Your Majesty,

His Highness is resting in his tent.

-Summon him. -Yes, Your Majesty.

Nanyi, this one tastes good.

Is it good?

Yes.

The Crown Prince has started a rebellion.

What did you say?

Chang Hai attacked Zongzheng Temple and rescued Ning Chuan.

They said, they are going to kill all the evil ministers

and restore order to the regime.

Is His Majesty aware of this?

Where is he now?

Ning Chuan will definitely come for Ning Yi.

-Where is he? -We can't get involved in this!

It won't end well.

Don't get involved.

Let me go! Get my horse!

Make the former Crown Prince execute himself?

Did I hear you correctly, Father?

You heard right.

Ning Chuan has betrayed me.

We can't tolerate what he did.

I'll grant him a self-execution

to show mercy.

Ning Yi!

Watch your attitude!

On your knees.

Why did you laugh?

Of all the military officials in the palace, you chose me

to have this conversation with.

Father, don't you want to hear

from the former Crown Prince himself why he's doing this?

Why are all my sons trying to betray me,

one after another?

Is it all for that throne in Chengming Palace?

You may rise.

If you don't want to go, I will.

I'm curious to find out

what Ning Chuan has to say to me.

You don't have to say that, Father.

I'll go as you asked.

It's my duty as a son.

Of course, I should be the one to end this rebellion,

so that you can have breathing room

when facing the Changs,

and so that you won't be ashamed of the way

you go down in history.

Of course, you want me,

the good-for-nothing Prince of Chu, to do your dirty work for you.

It's for the best.

Of course,

Father, your honor is more important.

Ning Yi!

That's not my intention at all!

Your Majesty,

the former Crown Prince, Ning Chuan,

has gone rogue and started a rebellion.

I, Ning Yi, volunteer to lead an army and put an end to this.

Your Majesty,

Chief Gu and his troops are waiting outside,

ready when you are.

Ning Yi,

see what you can do.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Wait.

Don't dirty my Chengming Palace.

Yes, Your Majesty.

-Zhao Yuan. -Yes, Your Majesty.

Write down my order.

Send it to Wei Zhi right away.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty,

Princess Shaoning has run away to the Imperial Citadel.

She really cares about her brother.

Will it really come true?

The alchemist said

that my children are all going to leave me!

Your Majesty,

the Imperial Citadel is in such chaos right now.

-I'm worried Princess Shaoning-- -Zhao Yuan.

Tell Wei Zhi

to protect Shaoning at all costs!

Yes, Your Majesty.

Ning Chuan!

-What are you doing here? -Your Highness?

Are you out of your mind?

-Why are you attacking the inner palace? -Listen to me!

Shaoning, I don't have a choice.

It's either death,

or life imprisonment in Sifang Garden.

Why wouldn't I fight?

Father has been heartless to me.

He treated me like an animal, so I'm taking over his throne!

You've been tricked, Ning Chuan!

Father is in the suburban Imperial Camp.

No way!

His Majesty must have been prepared.

We've been tricked by Ning Shizheng!

I don't believe it. Say that again!

Father has seen through your plan,

and is already in the suburban Imperial Camp.

He even sent Ning Yi to stop you!

He sent Ning Yi?

Father wants me dead.

He wants me dead.

He wants to watch me die.

All that I want is something he has given to me.

He wants to kill me

to secure his throne.

Father, how could you be so heartless?

Ning Chuan.

Ning Chuan!

Let's get out of here.

Hurry!

Your Highness,

Prince of Chu is attacking us with his Imperial Army.

Let's go!

-I'll kill them all! -No, Ning Chuan!

You won't make it out alive.

Right now, you can only escape through the Northern Gate.

Let's go!

After I kill Ning Yi!

-No, Ning Chuan! -Ning Chuan!

Just leave.

Let me stall Ning Yi for you! Go!

-Let's go! -You have to live!

-I'm ordering you to live! -Let's go!

-Come on! -You can't die, Uncle!

-Go now! -Don't die!

Don't die!

Listen, all of you!

Let's fight them

for the Crown Prince!

Follow me!

-Charge! -Charge!

The former Crown Prince, Ning Chuan, has committed the crime of rebellion.

It's unethical and intolerable,

but His Majesty is merciful to all the people of Tiansheng.

Anyone who disarms and surrenders will be forgiven.

Anyone who resists will be killed without mercy!

-No mercy! -No mercy!

Gu Yan.

You traitor!

You hypocrite!

The Crown Prince was nice to you.

How could you be so ungrateful

and betray him?

I hope you die a tragic death!

Over these years,

I have been trying to find your lost wife and child.

Do you know what this is?

Do you remember?

Yes, you were nice to me.

I had been living with humiliation for over a decade

only to find out that the person I pledged my allegiance to

was actually the murderer of my family!

I deserve to die

for not being able to see your true colors.

Eighteen years ago,

you forced me to become a traitor.

But now,

I make my own decisions.

Win the people,

win the world.

Win the people,

win the world!

-Win the people, win the world! -Win the people, win the world!

-Win the people, win the world! -Win the people, win the world!

-Win the people, win the world! -Win the people, win the world!

-Win the people, win the world! -Win the people, win the world!

Stop looking, Ning Chuan. Keep moving!

Hurry!

CHENGMING PALACE

Ning Chuan, you'll come back one day.

As long as you stay alive, there's hope.

Run now, Ning Chuan!

You want to play? Come on then!

-Come on! -What are you doing?

Don't worry.

He won't kill me that easily.

Show yourself!

Show yourself!

Come out right now, Ning Yi!

How have you been, Your Royal Highness?

You backstabber!

All thanks to you.

Ning Yi!

Winner takes all.

I'm still Father's legitimate firstborn, not a bastard like you!

Fight me one-on-one if you dare!

Firstborn, you say?

Don't you want to know what Father's order is?

Do you still think you're the Crown Prince

whose life is more valuable than the people's?

Ready!

Go ahead!

If I want to,

I can easily kill you.

Ning Yi!

Father sent you to stop the rebellion!

As long as you surrender, as long as we go see Father,

we can still go back, Ning Chuan!

Shaoning,

you should know better.

Ask Ning Yi

if he'll let me live

-if I surrender. -I will!

Kneel.

Repent to all the innocent lives lost,

and ask them if they forgive you.

You wish!

I'm of royal descent and I will not kneel

to those peasants!

Even if I die, I will die in Chengming Palace!

Ning Chuan, the people can either support or overthrow you.

You don't understand that,

and you call yourself the Crown Prince?

Forget it.

You're just asking for it.

There's nothing I can do for you.

-Ning Yi, I'll kill you! -Ning Chuan!

-Archers! -Ning Chuan!

Imperial edict for Prince of Chu!

Imperial edict for Prince of Chu!

Imperial edict for Prince of Chu.

"To my people, I hereby order Ning Yi, Prince of Chu, to stop the rebellion.

In case of the unexpected,

I'm also sending Hall of Zhaohua's Scholar, Wei Zhi,

to supervise the army and protect Princess Shaoning.

Execute my orders, that is all."

Ning Yi.

He has already failed.

You don't have to kill him.

Why don't you take him to His Majesty,

and let His Majesty do the right thing?

The right thing?

When the two of them

were hunting down Ning Qiao,

why didn't Father send

someone like you to be the supervisor and save him?

Don't worry.

Once I kill him,

I will turn myself in

and accept whatever criminal charge

Father accuses me of.

Then you can have your "right thing."

Surround Chengming Palace!

Ning Chuan, Father has sent Wei Zhi here.

That means he doesn't want you dead!

Ning Chuan, what are you doing?

You can't go up there!

That's Father's throne!

If you sit on it, not even Wei Zhi can save you!

Stop, Ning Chuan!

Ning Chuan!

Don't do this, Ning Chuan! Wake up!

I am supposed to be on that throne!

Yes, Ning Chuan.

It does belong to you,

but not now!

Father sent Wei Zhi here, which means he still cares about you.

When this is over,

you will eventually get the throne!

Shaoning.

If he cared, he wouldn't have sent Ning Yi!

Shaoning.

Whoever sits on this throne

-is a heartless man. -That's not true.

That's not true. Father is not like that!

He raised us.

I can feel his love.

He will forgive you.

Even if you end up in Zongzheng Temple,

I'll still be with you, Ning Chuan!

Shaoning!

I was born

to sit on this throne.

If I fail to do that,

what is the point of my existence?

My dear sister.

Even if I die,

I will die on this very throne!

-Long live His Majesty! -Long live His Majesty!

-Long live His Majesty! -Long live His Majesty!

-Long live His Majesty! -Long live His Majesty!

Rise, my dear courtiers!

Ning Yi!

I still got to sit on the throne!

Do you remember how Zhu Yin died?

Ning Chuan has killed so many innocent people.

If you protect him,

those people cannot rest in peace.

Are you still going to protect him?

If you kill Ning Chuan,

His Majesty won't forget it.

Have I ever cared?

I never have!

I know you hate the former Crown Prince,

and how it feels to lose your brother,

but if you kill him,

it will be no different from how they killed Ning Qiao!

I'm not trying to save him. I'm trying to save you!

When Old Stableman died,

you said you saw who I really was.

Let me tell you.

I'm someone who is trapped.

What about you?

Who do you think you are?

You're trying to save me? Pathetic!

If you try to stop me,

I'll kill you too.

I'm a nobody,

but His Majesty sent me to supervise you,

so I won't let you kill innocent people.

Evil must be eliminated.

I told you many times,

but you never listened.

Do you know what kind of person Shaoning is? I do!

If I let her go, she will cause trouble in the future.

-People will die! -You can't predict the future.

I will not watch her die.

Go in,

and tell her to leave Chengming Palace

and leave Ning Chuan.

I may let her go.

Please keep your promise, Your Highness.

Your Majesty, the military report is here.

Read me the important ones.

Yes, Your Majesty.

"Under Prince of Chu's lead,

the Imperial Army has taken back the Imperial Citadel.

The traitor, Chang Hai, and his followers have all been captured.

The former Crown Prince is hiding inside the inner palace with Princess Shaoning.

Prince of Chu is going after them."

This...

-Zhao Yuan. -Yes, Your Majesty.

-Let's head back to the palace. -Yes, Your Majesty.

If anyone tries anything,

I'll kill him!

Put down your weapons!

You heard Her Highness!

All violators

will be executed.

Can't you see?

I'm not letting him go.

Ning Yi!

Wei Zhi may die!

Do you think

-I care about that? -Stop right there!

Don't get any closer, or I'll kill him!

Ning Chuan. Shaoning.

You took the supervisor hostage and refuse to surrender.

Kill them all!

Kill!

Ning Chuan!

CHENGMING PALACE

Your Royal Highness...

My condolences,

Your Highness.

Official Zhao,

do you feel bitter?

I do,

but I don't at the same time.

It was my own greed

that got myself punished by His Majesty, so I'm not bitter.

You poisoned Father unknowingly.

Official Zhao.

You should feel bitter.

You should.

Your Highness,

if I may be so bold,

do you feel bitter?

I don't.

It's not my first time being someone's scapegoat.

Did you know nothing

at that time?

I am so sorry, Your Highness.

I knew nothing,

but I felt something.

I brought this upon you,

and got you punished.

What do I have

to feel bitter about?

Your Highness!

Your Highness,

you must not harm yourself.

If you are unhappy,

you can punish me.

You can punish me.

Why would I be unhappy?

Father should.

Official Zhao,

you should go back to serving my father.

Go ahead.

I'm here, Ning Chuan.

Ning Chuan,

I know I'm the last person

you want to see.

However, after the battle at Chengming Palace,

I have grown a lot.

Therefore, I have to come to pay my respects,

and tell you

that I fought you only to defend myself.

I have no desire for power.

From now on,

I will not defend myself,

and will walk to the palace with nothing to hide.

All I want is for Tiansheng to be peaceful and prosperous.

I want the world to be peaceful and prosperous too.
