Really quickly.

I want to show you some common mistakes made when

designing for t-shirts specifically.

So,

what I'm showing you here is a design that a

friend who I can keep it real with sent me.

He said,

what do you think about this design?

Cuz he was getting back into Amazon murch after a

Hiatus into your twenty-five and he really needs to make

his upload slots count.

Now,

he probably spent a good deal of time making this

if I had to guess.

And he's guilty of having a tech back around like

me.

The reason I shared that is because he laid out

a design that I think looks great on a computer

screen,

but I don't think will look great on a shirt.

And I don't just mean when someone wearing it the

hardest part,

again,

that we always focus on,

is the mock-up when people are shopping,

right?

We know in 4 on demand,

those aren't actually shirts yet.

They're just little mock-ups.

But anyways,

I think this is.

Mine can be improved upon the first thing I told

him was you should probably just optimized for darker colored

shirts and light-colored for How does you can see his

foreground is black in the background is silver and I

recommend just kind of swapping that as a general rule

of thumb.

Another thing.

I don't recommend doing two-tone text like this where it's

on the same line.

Think I can look good in like company logos and

you can do it on the web.

You know,

we're both web developers so we can do it on

websites a lot.

I mean my friend but I wouldn't do it in

t-shirt design.

Again.

I would just keep the text white,

most of the time I stay on the same horizontal

line matching this,

the color to me,

makes lot of sense.

I said the design is asymmetric,

its kind of imbalance.

So try to balance it out and I recommended you

should use a sunset design,

you know,

these almost never fail.

You seriously.

It sounds like I'm some Sunset salesman,

but I swear if they work.

I mean I'm making so many feels every day and

some of the designs to self suck their dumb.

They're dumb designs,

right?

But the sunsets,

they make it.

Okay,

though.

He went ahead and grabbed the sunset.

He put some graphics over top as a silhouette.

Now.

What he did,

is he actually kept the graphics on top as layers

on top of the sunset.

What I would recommend you guys do is you can

do this.

But what this way you do,

grab your magic wand tool,

click into those layers.

And then click the sunset layer behind it and cut

from the sunset.

This way,

the shirt color will show through and then what you

do is you disable the layers on top that are

the black Silhouettes.

You won't need them anymore because you just cut out

of the sunset a silhouette.

All right.

Now my buddy has design is definitely not perfect.

Definitely not.

I'll show you an example of how I would go

about doing this or give you an idea of how

to go about doing this in a second.

But as a general rule of thumb,

at least his design is symmetrical.

Mean it went from like,

you know,

a design that maybe makes sense,

but isn't going to look great in search results on

a t-shirt to a big bold design,

that certainly,

I think will fare better.

In search results,

but I mentioned that and this is another big Pitfall

that a lot of mistakes.

A lot of people make he oriented his design vertically

speaking in the middle and what you always want to

do is Orient vertically to the top.

Now,

I typically leave,

maybe the height of my finger between the top of

the canvas and the top of my first draft pick

or you know,

whether it's a graphic or text.

So I don't hug the very top of the canvas

but and the reason I'm sharing this is for Amazon

murch specifically,

where you cannot readjust after uploading,

see a couple of your design and then where they

place it is,

where it's going to be.

You cannot move it.

Now,

other platforms,

do let you move it around,

sometimes,

but as a general rule of thumb guys,

like Orient or the top,

so then he uploaded it needed this and it's still

too far down for my liking from the top.

So then I said,

do it again and then,

boom,

you did that.

And this,

if you're looking at the top,

you know,

he went from you and from here.

To hear.

To hear.

That's why I want you guys to be towards the

top-right.

You basically like a fingerprint up there in between the

top and where your graphics start.

So that's how he improved his frisbee golf design.

It still again.

Perfect,

you know,

but it's much better shape then than the first one.

And then,

if I was going to go about doing something like

this approach,

it kind of in this way.

It's been too long since design.

I'm not in love with it.

I don't really understand the sub needs to either with

the tree in the tree love,

but had to geometry in there.

I think the design would have been better if I

didn't have the gym at 3 in there.

But anyways,

cuz this is what I wanted to show you in

this video and hopefully it made some sense.

You the big thing is,

like,

vertically oriented towards the top asymmetric designs can work.

But honestly,

unless you're like a professional or,

you know,

you've been doing this for a while,

keep it simple.

Keep it symmetric.

That's my recommendation.

Typically centered is good.

Keep your text one color,

as a general rule of thumb until he,

you know,

if you want to get Crazy later on,

do it later on.

But you don't get get some sales under your belt

and get some confidence and then start doing the the

more out there stuff.
