One of the best tools we have as guitar players is an app on our phone or device called Voice Memos

or whatever your little Dictaphone software is, you can even use a little tape cassette recorder if

you want.

But the idea is to record yourself playing something and listening back to it and listening for your

tuning, your timing, the way the music feels and sounds, I think for a lot of people who are just

starting out.

The way you actually sound might not be the way you sound in your head, so finding a way to bridge

that gap is an important step in.

You know, learning how to improve your ear and improve your your listening, improve your playing.

So what I do this all the time.

I'll take like the Voice Memos app on my phone and I'll be working on a song.

I'll play it into the phone and then I'll play it back and I'll hear where I'm speeding up and slowing

down and where I want to maybe play with with some more dynamics, with some more energy or personality.

And I'll critique my playing by recording myself.

And that's something I really encourage you to do.

You can't do that often enough.

And I think it's it's something I don't hear a lot of people talking about.

So recording yourself for evaluation is something I really encourage you to experiment with that stuff.
