At the left hand position on the guitar is quite important, you don't want to fret the notes with the

tips of the fingers.

So if you're playing with, you know, the pad of the finger, if the string is hitting too low on the

finger, you'll really struggle to get the articulation.

However, if you fret with the very tips of the fingers, you're going to get a nice, good, strong

downward, you know, force going against the against the fret, which is what we want.

So a great little technique that I use whenever I'm learning a new toad or new exercise is this little

hammering technique.

So we take a deep here, which we're going to go through all the open chords and all the barcodes.

You take it all like this and you just hammer on with the left hand like that.

And just yet, the left hand used to hammering on and you want to.

Not tense up, you don't want to have too much tension in the in the forum or anything like that, but

you don't want to train those muscles to hammer down the notes.

Now, with the left hand, generally speaking, some people will say that the thumb needs to be in the

middle of the back of the neck.

That's more of a classical approach.

And if your guitar is angled up like this, like a classical player, that that would be applicable.

But since, you know, we're playing fingerstyle guitar.

Generally, you want your your wrists to be to be straight, you don't want this risk to be too far

bent down like that.

And you don't want it to be beat up, it's quite difficult to play with it bent up there.

So you want your wrist to be generally fairly straight.

If we're playing backwards, you know, it's it's time a bend a little, but general principles for

left hand left hand technique, having the forum be as relaxed as possible, playing with the very tips

of the fingers and keeping the wrist fairly straight.

I play with my thumb as well, and I use my thumb for threading and I have fairly large hands.

If you have small hands, you know that that won't be a handicap at all.

When playing the guitar, you might have to, you know, change a phrase or two if if we're playing

arrangement with any bit stretches.

But in this course, keeping things, you know, so that people with any hand size will be able to play

these songs.

And using the thumb, I think is a is a very useful practice.

It comes in handy for me.

But that's more of a, um, that's a concept we'll talk about, about later on.
