Let's talk about what kind of guitar by now, the best guitar, of course, is the one you already own.

However, if you are looking for an instrument, hopefully some of these suggestions will help you find

a good one to make a good choice.

So I recommend an acoustic guitar for playing fingerstyle.

You can, of course, play fingerstyle on an electric guitar, but with an electric guitar you introduce

an amp and a cable and you know, it just gets more complicated.

I love playing a trusty guitar because I can carry it wherever I want.

And, you know, all the tone comes from the the sound box here.

And it can be a really great instrument experience playing fingerstyle on an acoustic instrument.

Now you have two options with acoustic guitars.

There's nylon string guitars and there's steel string guitars.

My first guitar that I want to play on was a ninety 99 dollar three quarter size nylon string guitar.

And the benefits of playing a nylon string guitar, also called a classical guitar, is the strings

are a little softer and easier to push down.

However, many classical guitars have a slightly wider neck, so there's kind of just more space on

the neck and steel string guitars have a slimmer neck, which, you know, can be a little easier to

play.

But as we go into in the next session, the setup is maybe more important than the instrument itself.

I think having a smaller body guitar, generally speaking, is is really great for fingerstyle.

You know, if it's a bigger body instrument generally, I find that that can be you know, it's more

suited for a strumming, you know, type of playing style.

But for playing fingerstyle, a smaller body guitar is really nice if you go into a store with the intention

of buying a guitar.

I really recommend setting a budget because, you know, you can be sold expensive instruments easily

in a store because there's some there's some beautiful guitars out there.

But, you know, you can definitely get a really good instrument for, you know, 300 U.S. dollars as

a good starter instrument.

And I do think it's good to develop a relationship with a local store to go in and play an instrument

in person and, you know, find someone to set up your instrument as opposed to buying something sight

unseen on the Internet.
