Sounds like this, and I'm going to demonstrate it with Pam Utting of the right hands and then without

so you can hear the difference and I'll explain why I recommend that you learn the songs with the Palm

Utting technique.

So with the palm reading technique, it sounds like this.

Without the palmiotti technique, it sounds like this.

So as you can hear, it has quite a different energy and quite a different feel with the palm muting

technique employed, it sounds sneaky.

Are you trying to grooves in a different way?

And all that is, is letting the palm of your right hand lay against the bridge of the guitar.

Now, the bridge is this little, usually white piece of bone or plastic that the strings.

You know, let leaning up against and use the the palm to just not mute them too much, you don't get

this sound, but if you just did enough of the palm on there, just deadens the string a little bit

so it doesn't rain out like that.

It rings out like that.

And you get that sneaky, groovy palm unit sound.

And with some of the songs we're going to learn, we'll use more of an open sounding bass pattern.

But in the first exercises and learning the finger rolls that we're going to approach in the next session,

this thumb muting technique is what I encourage you to employ.
