on real evil in a home

-which was haunted
of violent phenomena.

It was claimed to be the true one
the story of the Lutz family.

It was something that everyone would understand.

It opened many doors
for the concept of the supernatural.

The inhabitants of Amityville
has already ridden a storm

-after the publication of a book
about a haunted house in the city.

Now they steel themselves
the tourists who come

-after the success of the film
"The Demons of Amityville".

When we got out, we saw a long queue.

It was a great movie.
I felt weird all day.

What had I just experienced?

People were enchanted by the film about
the dream house that became a nightmare.

But the story began a year ago
before the Lutz family moved in, -

-then another family,
the DeFeo family, lived in the house.

WELCOME TO AMITYVILLE

Amityville, New York is located
about an hour east of Manhattan.

It is a prosperous suburb
on the south coast of Long Island.

It is known for its expensive houses,
good schools and safe residential areas.

Everything is changing
as a heinous crime-

at 112 Ocean Avenue
shocks society.

has, according to the police in Amityville, -

-is that the victims have been identified
as members of the DeFeo family.

They were found by the 23-year-old
son Ronald DeFeo, -

-which is believed to be family
only surviving member.

as an all-American family.

The sign on the farm reads:

I woke up in the morning
and listened to the radio news-

-that a mass murder was committed

A shock to society.

Police found all the bodies
in the same position, on the stomach.

The mother was shot in the head,
the father was shot in the back.

The whole family
had been killed in the middle of the night, -

-and no one could explain
how it had gone.

The only survivor was
23 year old Ronald DeFeo Junior.

As the police
fine comb the scene for traces, -

-tells Ronnie a nasty story about
that he found his parents, -

-two brothers and two sisters
killed in their beds.

He had been drinking during the day.

After he had found the bodies,
he asked for help at a local bar.

He opened the door
and shouted, "Help me!"

"Someone shot my parents!"
So everyone ran out of the bar.

Ronald DeFeo said someone had
broke in. That was great news.

Journalists interviewed
broken friends and neighbors.

You knew the DeFeo family.
How was your relationship with Ron?

I think she adored him.
As far as I know.

She always said
that he was the apple of her eye.

But Louise DeFeo's son Ronnie
hides a cruel secret.

He claims to be an evil creature
gave him a Marlin rifle

-and forced him
to kill his family.

NOVEMBER 13, 1974
AT 03.15

Ronnie claims he was in the basement
when a figure appeared to him, -

- gave him the weapon and asked him
about committing these crimes.

I knew something was wrong
was going to happen to my mom and dad.

He loads the weapon, goes up the stairs-

-and kills
his parents in cold blood.

Ronnie crosses the hallway and shoots
his 13-year-old sister Allison.

I had no control. I was
not in touch with reality.

I could not control it.

Then he kills both his brothers.
Mark at twelve and John at nine.

Finally he goes up the stairs
to the third floor.

His sister Dawn, eight, is awake.
She asks what is wrong.

DeFeo asks her to go to bed.
Everything is as it should.

He opens the door and commits
one last cruel act.

Ronnie then dumped the evidence
in a Brooklyn sewer.

He threw the weapon from the pier
in Amityville and went to work.

November 14, 1974-

- Ronnie DeFeo was arrested for
the mass murder of his family.

A funeral will be held for the victims.

Three hundred people gather outside
the church to show its esteem.

It really shook
the community of Amityville.

There was a strong element
of Catholicism and religion there.

They were Italians and had
statuettes on the front.

This was a case
where the suburban dream burst.

While the bodies are buried
at St. Charles Cemetery, -

- may the prosecution jury seize
the mysterious details of the case.

No one said they
had heard some of the shots.

The boy John Nemeth two houses away
said he heard the dog bark.

That was all.
The weapon had no silencer.

About nine shots were fired that night.

There's a lot of gunfire
in a small suburban house at 03.15.

And yet no one heard anything.

It was nice that everyone was lying on their stomachs.
No one tried to flee.

No one crawled under the bed.

That is what no one has been able to do
explain regarding these killings.

But what could get a man
to kill his whole family?

Was he a cold-blooded killer ...

... or a victim of an evil force
as he himself claimed?

Ronald's lawyer tried
with several different defenses.

On one occasion, Ronald claimed
that the mafia killed his family.

Then he heard demons, voices,
who commanded him to do so.

The story became
changed time and time again.

In the fall of 1975, Ronald became DeFeo
Junior sued.

The gruesome details of the crime
shocked society.

Ronald DeFeo testified in court
that voices asked him to kill, -

-and that he saw a shadow figure
who put the rifle in his hands-

-and joined him
while committing the killings.

During the trial, there was a priest,
I do not know his name, -

-who sat in the courtroom
and saw me in the witness box.

He thought it worked
as if I were possessed by the Devil.

They showed pictures of the bodies.
He shot them at close range.

So the pictures were very cruel.

A brother had a football injury.
He shot him in the spine.

Ronnie told how he stood there
and saw how his brother's legs twitched.

Ronald DeFeo was convicted
six murders and sentenced to life in prison.

The killer is imprisoned,
but the brutal act tore up

-a spiritual wound in Amityville.
That's just the beginning.

Amityville Horror House
waiting to devour the next victim.

In this to apparently
perfect house in Amityville-

-it was committed
a heinous crime.

In November 1974 killed
Ronald DeFeo Junior-

- his whole family and shocked the city.
Many wondered why.

Is he sane or not?

There were a lot of witnesses, -

-including his friends who testified
about that was irrational at times.

But sometimes he just played.
He knew what he was doing.

DeFeo was convicted, but many
difficult questions remain.

Is it possible,
as Ronald DeFeo claims, -

-that an evil creature in the house
drove him to kill the family?

Ronald DeFeo said
that there were ghosts in the house.

He said he had devils behind him
and that something was wrong with the house.

With DeFeo behind lock and key
the state prison the house is empty.

A local real estate agent
shows it to potential buyers.

Including the newlyweds
George and Kathy Lutz.

George and Kathy
have both been married before.

They will start with blank sheets

-with Kathy's three children. Danny
at nine, Chris at seven and Missy at five.

George had been
air traffic controller in Boston for several years.

When a relative passed away, -

- he suddenly became
owner of Perry, Inc.

It was a surveying company
which his grandfather had owned.

He moved back to Long Island
and took over the family business.

George then met Kathy Connors.

After meeting Kathy,
we did not see him that often.

They met at a restaurant.
She was a waitress.

She was very gracious.
A very nice person.

Then they got married, and he asked me
to be his fiancé. It was me.

I got a red toolbox from him.
I have it to this day.

We were a lot together as a couple,
with my ex-wife.

We had dinner and met the kids.

They started looking for
a new house for marriage.

George and Kathy both had houses,
and the idea was to move together.

When the broker, Edith Evans,
showed them the house, she said:

"I want to show you how the other
half of Amityville lives. "

She showed them a beautiful house
in Dutch colonial style.

The Lutz couple describe the house
in this 1979 interview.

Can you tell me about the house, George?
It's not that old, is it?

No, it was built in 1928.
The craftsmanship is amazing.

Moldings, door frames
and panels are hand-carved.

Kathy, when you first saw the house, -

- Do you remember how you felt?
You were looking for a new home.

- What impression did it give you?
- I fell in love with the house.

I think
that the house was charming.

But it's not just
the physical appearance of the house.

Someone, or something, inside the house
pretends to entice them.

When describing
The devil in movies or books, -

-then he is the most interesting
the person in the room. Scary.

That one is captivated
in a place that is so scary.

The price works
too low to be true.

$ 80,000 for a large house in
one of Amityville's finest areas.

But the Lutz couple do not yet know
something about the house's bloody secret.

When we first went out with the broker,
we did not know what house it was.

That was then
we knew we liked it-

-she said "maybe I do
should have said so earlier, "-

- "but it's in this house
The DeFeo killings were committed. "

But they are not superstitious.

George has been a Marine
and is not easily intimidated.

We talked a lot with the kids,
both one and one and together, -

-on whether they
could imagine living in this house.

They had no objections.

George and Kathy Lutz
bought the house furnished.

The furniture that was there then the killings
was committed, was still there.

They kept
even the children's bed frames.

The beds the children lay in
when they were shot to death.

According to experts on
the supernatural is the risky

For the blessing contacted George
friend father Ralph Pecararo.

He had arranged the cancellation
of George's first marriage.

I asked Father Ray, and he
feel free to come out to bless the house.

DAY 1

The Lutz family moves in.

It's the first one
of 28 cruel summer days-

-they have to spend
in the former house of DeFeo.

That afternoon is coming
Father Ray to bless the house.

He has no idea what evil
he is going to meet.

Father Ray
appeared while we were moving in.

It was the first day in the house,
and since then I have thought-

-that one of the things that did
the house uninhabitable, was the blessing.

When you bring
negative being to do, -

-can a religious provocation-

-including forcing them away,
but sometimes it just annoys them.

Then they will really make themselves known.

There is one room in particular
which makes Father Ray bad for fashion.

Kathy calls it her sewing room.

It was the bedroom where Mark
and John DeFeo was brutally killed.

Father Ray talked about
their experience once.

In a forgotten edition of "In search of".

I blessed the sewing room.
It was very cold in there.

I thought it was strange.

It was a beautiful day.
Yes, it was winter, -

-but that did not explain the cold.

As the priest sprays holy water
in the room, he suddenly hears ...

... something that sounds like
a guttural, demonic voice.

Disappear!

It seemed aimed at me
so I was pretty scared.

The film shows how Father Ray
was attacked by flies in the sewing room.

The scene was changed in the movie, but was
no less interns in reality.

I was looking for a physical manifestation.
It was the flies.

But the thought of that flies
was associated with "disappear", -

-made it more scary.

Father Ray is deeply frightened
and rushes down to the lower floor.

He, thinks that the sewing room
is haunted by evil, -

-but is too scared
to say it to George and Kathy.

We said "we'll just have it
as sewing, not to anything else ".

He said: "It's going well
as long as no one sleeps there ".

That was all he said. Then he left.

The sun is setting

For the family Lutz has
28 days of hell just started.

Many claim that the house is haunted
of a demonic presence.

December 18, 1975
the Lutz family moves in.

The first few days are George
and Kathy happier than ever.

But the mixed family
faces major challenges.

You have children whose mother
has moved to a strange house

-with a guy they do not know.

Now they have to go to school
and hear other children say:

"You live in the DeFeo house.
You live in the killing house. "

It builds up an energy,
like a poison that is heavy and dark.

The family has no idea if
the house is haunted by a demon-

-or of the murder victims, so can theirs
negative energy arouses evil.

Evil leads to more evil.

It is now day four.

George has three nights in a row
woke up suddenly at 03.15.

That time then
Ronald DeFeo killed his family.

3.15 in the morning was
much like the ghost class.

It's called the Devil's Hour.

It seems too good to be true.

But the fact is that the DeFeo family
was killed at the time.

According to Western Christian tradition
djeveltimen, 03.00-04.00, -

-the time when demons
and ghosts are most active.

Paranormal investigators speculate
about the veil between the spirit world-

and the physical plane
punctured at that time.

The trinity is
a blasphemous representation of

-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

And that things that appear three and three,
has a religious significance.

Kathy is haunted by
horrible nightmares about the DeFeo killings.

Kathy Lutz said she had nightmares-

-when she saw who was killed
and in what order ...

... and where the bullets
went in and out of the corpses.

Sleepless nights eat away at them

- and exacerbates family problems.

Very close-knit families
can eventually be broken down.

A devoted family can be violent.

It may occur
physical and emotional abuse.

That goes hand in hand
with demon haunting.

George and Kathy's relationship
until the children suffer.

Disciplinary punishment will be
increasingly common, and stricter.

Danny even told me
that while living in the house, -

-beat George and Kathy
those with sleiver-

-and forced them to
to march around the house as punishment.

It agrees
other cases of demon activity.

Families have talked about
personality changes, -

anger and rage.
The Lutz family split in that way.

Is it the house that tries
to occupy George and Kathy?

George feels the cold of evil.

I could not stay warm
if I walked away from the fireplace.

I lit a fire with the cardboard boxes.

That was enough luck
that I did not burn down the house.

December 22, 1975.
Kathy Lutz makes lunch in the kitchen.

Suddenly the children scream in panic.
She runs up the stairs.

Daniel and Christopher shouted
that Kathy should come up.

They looked down into the toilet bowl
and then black spots.

They seemed to be lowered
in the toilet bowl itself.

The children find the same black spots
in the other bathrooms.

Kathy checks the sewing room and bumps into it
like Father Ray on something horrible.

George and Kathy described it
like dozens of flies. In the winter.

Father Ray got an earache,
and now swarms of flies by the windows.

According to George
it was not the first time.

The police clearly saw
the same amount of flies, -

-if no more, as they
came to the house during the night of the murder.

I have investigated dozens
cases, and I've never seen it before.

I think it's related
the violent past of the house.

Unfortunately, all signs indicate
a classic demon haunt.

For different types of visits, -

-human versus inhuman,
different things tend to happen.

In a human haunt-

-are they could only move
small objects and make sounds-

-to show that they are there.

In case of inhuman haunts
the possibilities are endless.

They can move large objects
and cause great pain.

It can build up aggression
between family members.

Friends can begin
to argue about little things.

Family members end up in a frenzy
quarrel that sometimes becomes violent.

They try to cause so much physically
and emotional pain as possible.

They're trying to break one down.

DAY 8

This is the Lutz 'family
first Christmas in the house in Amityville.

For a brief moment, they succeed
to forget their horrible experiences.

But that night is coming
evil back to benefit.

George was awakened
around 03.15 in the morning.

The door to the boathouse was open.

It happened quite often
while they lived there.

George is looking for signs
invaders but find nothing.

I went out to see
why the boathouse door was open.

When I came back, I saw
something move in Missy's room.

George is terrified.

A gestalt appears
in the bedroom window.

He runs to her rescue
with the heart in the throat.

I can imagine the horror
as he ran up the stairs-

-to save his daughter
from what was in the room.

But as he storms in
the room ... there is nothing there.

Missy sleeps peacefully in her bed.

There was nobody there. But he saw it.
It was there, and now it is not.

George gets confused. Is it
the house that plays him plaster?

One of the things that happens is that
one doubts one's own senses.

One doubts one's own thoughts.
Doubt takes over the mind.

You become insecure
what one has always taken for granted.

Sooner or later
one doubts one's mental health.

DAY 9

The next day, Missyt plays in the room
as if nothing had happened-

-idet her mother
suddenly hear something.

I was standing outside her door
and heard her speak.

Can I have a cookie?
Do you want more tea?

When I opened the door, she had
a small rocking chair on the corner.

- Missy talked and ...
- What are you talking about?

- ... the rocking chair rocked.
- Why do you say that?

Another voice was heard,
but could not see anyone.

Disappear. You scare me.

Afterwards told
Missy us about Jodie.

And she said, "Mom, are angels talking?"

Jodie is Missy's new friend.
But she's not an angel.

When the demon creature tries
to make contact with a child, -

- they present themselves as something
which does not seem threatening to the child, -

-so that the child in the end
accept them as a friend.

It opens the door for them.

Jodie shows up
for Missy as a pig.

An animal form that long
has been associated with demons.

There is a text
in the Gospel of Matthew, 8.24-32, -

-which mentions that Jesus expelled
demons out of occupied men-

-and sent them in to pigs.

The pigs jumped into the water and drowned.

Demon beings have long been described
as being with hooves or hooves.

Misy said later
that her friend Jodie-

-sometimes was just as great
like a teddy bear,

-and on other occasions
was larger than the house.

The demonic power
in the house has taken physical shape.

It is now obvious
that children are its main goal.

That Jodie contacts Missy follows
the pattern of demon haunting.

It makes contact with the children
to work through them, -

-a simultaneous as it
trying to break down the family

-and created problems
between George, Kathy and the kids.

Missy was not afraid of Jodie.
It was just a playmate.

But she should
have been terrified of Jodie.

Absolutely.

It's hard to talk
about this without sounding crazy.

What we're talking about,
do not think like a human being.

It has not
same values as we have.

It's from a different time
and another place-

- and has goals that we do not understand.

It has now been nine days
since the Lutz family moved in.

But George and Kathy feel
already powerless against the demon.

In desperation, they contact again
friend father Ray Pecararo.

They have no idea what the priest supports
at the first blessing.

We asked him to come back,
but he refused to do so.

We were completely crushed.
We did not understand why he refused.

Later we understood why.

He had his own problems
which he did not tell about.

They do not know that Ray has blisters
on the hands after the blessing.

I went to the doctor,
and he could not explain it.

He said it might be due to anxiety.
It is possible.

But I do not think I am brought up
for psychosomatic reactions.

The Evil on 112 Ocean Avenue
pretends to increase its power.

December 27, 1975.

03.15 wakes up
George abruptly by a sharp-

- and unbearable sound.

It sounded like
a janissary orchestra that sang.

But Kathy sleeps strangely enough calmly.

George pretends to be
the only one who hears it.

There was so much noise.

And I run down to see
what it is or what the cause is.

When I get halfway down,
then it will be quiet.

And the dog lay asleep.
He slept like a rock.

Once again, the house pretends
to play with George.

What other demonic
surprises await the family?

DAY ELEVEN

The eleventh day does Kathy
a shocking discovery.

I went down to the basement
and went over to a bookshelf.

I moved it,
and there was no wall behind it.

That was the entrance
to a small room painted red.

Could it be
the heart of darkness in the house?

Has Kathy found
the demon's haunt?

For George and Kathy Lutz-

-have the dream house in Amityville
become a nightmare.

DAY ELEVEN

Kathy has discovered
a mysterious hidden room in the basement.

Could that be the focal point
for a demon haunt?

Creatures do not need portals.
They just need an opening.

And that house was perfect for that.

The family dog, Harry, is behaving
unusual at the red room.

His instincts
perceives something predatory.

The strangest thing was then George
told that Harry was down there

-and that the dog backed
and refused to go near the room.

The rotten stench
from the room is even worse.

It was not always there.

When we moved out
and talked to the local police-

-about the night of the murder
18 months before we moved in, -

-so they knew
same smell when they arrived at the place.

Whatever its true nature is,
allows the discovery of space-

-to trigger a new wave
of frightening phenomena.

One morning they find
a mysterious green substance in the hallway.

It was a kind of jelly. The carpets were
red, and the substance was green.

It was there in the morning.

It was sticky and wet,
and they wiped it away.

The next day it was different,
but it was back.

Black epoxy-like tears
ran out of keyholes.

Could they be linked
to the stains they found in the toilets?

Things that happen in a house,
can blur the boundaries of reality, -

-so that one doubts
on their own thoughts ...

... and how things happen in one's home.

One begins to see phenomena
which makes you think you're crazy.

"Did that really happen?"

Saw the people in the home
isolates themselves from each other.

One begins to doubt
what happens around one.

DAY 18

On day 18, the couple was
terrified and exhausted.

They contacted
his friend Joe and his wife Mimi.

Joe is an old classmate
who was the fiancé at their wedding.

Joe and George take care
to ride a motorcycle together.

They arrived unannounced at the house one evening.

There was a knock on the door,
and there they stood. They came in.

The wife made coffee and drinks.

George told us about the house
and about what happened there.

Things like flies by the windows.
It got very cold in the house.

Especially at night, around 2-3.
Strange sounds.

The Vetter couple
do not know what to believe.

It surprised us.
We were amazed.

You hear an incredible story,
but it does not hang in the balance.

We had not seen anything.

Then maybe I would
have believed more in them.

George and Kathy
return to 911 Ocean Avenue.

Oddly enough, it fades
the disappointment of the mistrust

- As they approach the house.

The house in Amityville
seems to have an energy

-who would keep the family there.
It did not want them to let go.

That night, in bed,
George's thoughts go dark.

The unanswered questions,
the isolation ... Everything eats away at him.

The thoughts were not my own.

It was not
the way I used to think.

Those were unpleasant things. It is not
nice to talk about it.

We're talking about thinking a thought
which is contrary to one's own natural

- the way you know you are.

- Violent thoughts?
- My answer must stand as it is.

DAY 27

For almost a month, the Lutz couple has
been besieged in his own home.

Lonely and attacked, George grasps
and Kathy a bold decision.

To bless the house for yourself
to try to drive out the demon.

A friend showed how to walk
through the house and bless it.

It is a dangerous and last attempt
on driving out evil.

- But will it work?
-It is easy.

You go from room to room,
opens a window and prays the Lord's prayer.

One asks what is there to go,
and then you move on.

The Lutz couple perform the blessing
with bible and crucifix in hand.

George has his doubts.

I thought we already
had blessed the house.

But if it works, then fine.
So we prayed, opened the window-

-and commanded what was there
about leaving the house of Jesus' name.

But as they walk through the house,
they encounter fierce resistance.

We heard a chorus of voices
who said, "Can you quit?"

When it happened, one got
the feeling that it did not work.

It can be compared to
when Father Ray heard

the voice that begged him to disappear.
They did what they could

-as best they could,
and it did not go as they wanted.

What is there, tries to hold
again the family. The longer they succeed, -

-the stronger they can get.

Its goal is to destroy the family.

What Happened to the Lutz Family,

-was that it wanted them, exactly
as it got hate on the DeFeo family.

Once again begins
the visit at 03.15, -

-when George Lutz wakes up
same time as the killings.

There was a storm outside,
and it was quite violent.

But something was wrong.

As George tries to move,
he realizes that his limbs are locked.

They are paralyzed.

Then he hears a deafening crash
from the stepson's bedroom.

I have clear memories of me
could not move in bed-

-and that I heard
the boys' beds thump up.

I could not get up
to see what happened.

That a parent feels
paralyzed in bed-

-while something happens to the children,
is a scary situation.

I can hardly imagine it.

George slowly turns towards
Kathy for help. She's not there.

Terrified, he sees his body
her soar over the bed.

Kathy hovered over the bed
and began slowly-

-to soar against the wall, away from him.

He could not move.
He tried to scream, but could not.

Then George knows
a presence at the foot of the bed.

It was a fear like mine
can not describe so well.

I felt something go up
in bed and on the mattress.

He said it was a figure with
hover that went on his chest.

All this supernatural
the circus took place according to George.

Shadows moved
in the hallway outside the door, -

-but he came anyway
not getting out of bed.

On one occasion he said
that he made two different sounds.

One was like a low, moaning
and lamenting sound from within.

A scream like
broke out of his body.

George is struggling
his whole being to break free.

The muscles feel
as if they are about to burst.

In a way, he manages
to pull Kathy down to bed.

The paralysis is broken.

But the continuous supernatural
the attack had just begun.

The next few hours
is a fog of horrible memories.

I have clear memories
of our dog Harry.

He got up,
went in a circle and lay down again.

Then he got up and spat,

Jerry Solfvin specializes
on examining hauntings-

-and the question of whether it exists
an afterlife or not.

Today, in 2020, it is
common to find ghost hunters

-who goes out and does a "study"
of ghosts and haunts.

Their goals are very different
our goal with the research foundation.

The goal of the ghost hunters
seems to be determining

-that they certainly have found
something that is supernatural.

In parapsychology
it's just the beginning.

A parapsychologist
is above all a researcher

-who is educated
in scientific method-

-and who do studies
of supernatural activities.

But we often got
phones from people who said:

"I have a ghost at home."

It was obviously interesting for us.

Then we said, "We have a case that works
inexplicable by ordinary means. "

We have a person who claims
to have a ghost in their home.

When George Lutz called me
at the Research Foundation, -

- he wanted to tell me about
what he had experienced in his home.

It was the first time I heard
that something unusual was going on there.

to send a field investigator

a preliminary investigation.

George is hungry for a quick answer,
but Solfvin resists.

I said to George, "I have no doubt
that you're trying to be honest. "

"But they can be many
explanations of the experiences. "

The parapsychologist works slowly.
Too slow for George Lutz.

Ronald DeFeo

February 15, 1976 George attended
and Kathy at a press conference

-with Ronald DeFeos
attorney William Weber.

They talk about the atrocities.
The reaction is immediate.

The case became a huge news.

The explanation was taken up
of all major news media.

The Lutz couple
begins to lose control.

As fast as it started,
terminates the relationship with the lawyer-

-idet he asks them to give him
full control over the explanation.

It was a ridiculous deal.

They were only allowed to talk about the facts of the case.
Otherwise he would take over the house.

They disappear from the spotlight
to drop the attention.

But a young reporter from Channel 5
in New York find them.

I called George Lutz's company.

"I'm Laura DiDio
from the news on Channel 5. "

I sat with them
for five hours while they told.

February 24, 1976 the couple meets
Warren, Laura Didio and a TV team-

-George Lutz outside
his former home.

I asked George
if he were to join.

But he said "no, I had to

So he gave us the keys.

I went into the house with camera people
and Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The house did
stood empty for several weeks.

that the family had left in a hurry.

Things were left on the kitchen counter,
the dishes were in the sink.

Kathy had made for Christmas, -

-stood on the dining table.

The house seemed to be waiting

ties them already to the house.

At the exact time-

-when Ronald DeFeo was killed
his whole family in this house-

at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville,
Ed's mother passed away.

On her death certificate is written

very spiritual investigators.

in different places on the property-

-to get in touch
with what was there.

We have always looked at that
as a dangerous type of investigation.

As we walked through the house
with Lorraine, Ed supervised her.

He went ahead
and said, "How are you?"

He had his crucifix and holy water.

Lorraine gave us her impressions.
She became nauseous.

She got a headache
in certain parts of the house.

Lorraine is clairvoyant
and is psychic in trance.

She knows the presence of nders,
but can not talk to them.

Waves of violent mental energy
overturns Lorraine.

Drap. Destructions.

Madness.

I started walking up the stairs.

It was like walking towards a waterfall.

The power was so strong.

When she went into DeFeos, and Lutz ',
master bedroom, she became ill.

She felt the violence,
and it made her nauseous.

Lorraine pauses for a moment,
shocked by the intensity.

Demonologist Ed is down.

He hopes that religious provocation
to bring out the demon in the basement.

I usually go down to the basement,
the lowest part of the house.

Evil thrives there.

It survives.

But Ed has no idea
what evil lurks there.

Amityville Horror House
may be the scene

- for a unique demonic haunt.

On February 24, 1976 investigates
the famous demonologists Ed-

- and the Lorraine Warren house.

While Lorraine is upstairs,
Ed goes down to the basement.

I brought out a crucifix
and demanded in the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus

-that what was there,
should turn out.

I never got
such a quick reaction.

I went into
what we call religious resistance.

I commanded it in the name of Jesus
to give way and travel his way.

Then it eased instantly.

It's the scariest
the experience the Warren couple has had.

They are shaken.
They know they need help.

They can not meet
this evil on its own.

Lorraine knew
a oppressive presence in the house.

She did not think it was DeFeos
ghosts. That surprised me.

She thought it was a demonic,
devilish presence.

So we decided
that Warrens should hold a session-

-and that we should gather again
in a week or two.

But the rumor spreads quickly,
and the guest list grows.

Without us knowing about it, contacted
George Lutz other investigators.

So when we got permission from Lutz
to hold the session on March 6, -

- we did not know
that so many should be there.

Investigators and journalists
gather at Amityville's horror house.

Men George Lutz
refuses to enter the house.

One of the first to arrive,

As I walked towards the door,

Warren's biggest fear.

Lorraine repeated that it existed

-and that a priest had to

I had a small room up there.
It was probably Missy's bedroom.

It was my refuge.

I told Ed that I
was going to lay me down for a while.

So I began to pray the Lord's prayer
and looked out the door.

There I saw a group of figures
who prayed backwards.

the demon pig who played angel,
be among them?

I took the holy water
and threw it out to the figures.

I took the cross, lifted it, said:
"God is with me" and threw it.

That's how it sounded.

The TV team from Channel 5
also experience scary things.

What I remember best was ours
cameraman Steve Petropolis.

He was very fit
and used to run marathons.

He went upstairs
the light meter to check the rooms.

He came about five steps
when he turned to me and said:

"There's a room up there,
the other door on the right, "-

- "where one of the walls
is covered by mirrors. "

Then he said:
"I do not know how I know."

At that time there were not many
photos from the house have been published.

Especially not
from the Lutz family's time there.

Steve Petropolis continued up
the stairs with its light meter.

He reached the top of the stairs.

to return the house to the bank.

George asks some motorcycle buddies
about picking up some things in the house.

They settle down and relax
for a while in Amityville's horror house.

We had a beer on the stairs to the house.

Although we had heard that we
should not eat or drink anything.

I do not know where the cake came from.

But we sat and talked
about us sitting there in the house.

So we drank a little, laughed a little and left.
That was all.

George's friends did not catch a glimpse
the horror the family has gone through.

But for George Lutz, the house is alive.

He talked to
Lorraine Warren in this interview.

I always meant that house
just then was very intelligent.

Yes, something of a spiritual nature
may have been done in that house.

find peace in this house?

And how can one
live in a home without peace?

Peace is so important.
You were a loving couple.

Love conquers all,
but it became too much for you.

travel George,

George's boat, motorcycles
and car they leave.

We gave the car to the guy
in the ticket office at JFK.

We saw:
"Here is the key and the wagon card".

On Mother's Day 1976-

- landed our plane in San Diego.

Only time will tell
if evil follows them.

Personally, it was another epilogue

-after that night for me.

I was wondering
how it would have been-

-to just go inside
and 911 Ocean Avenue-

-while the house was quiet and empty.

But I did not want to go alone.
I did it in the middle of the day.

I took my dog Fritz with me.
I walked around the house.

That was how we had left it.

No one had been there.
The gingerbread house remained.

Suddenly I heard Fritz growl.

He was standing in the foyer
and stood in front of the stairs.

He stared at a point on the stairs.

Fritz had raised his bust
from neck to tail.

The ears were folded back,
and he had bared teeth.

He stood still
and just looked and growled.

I thought, "Well, well."
That was where everyone got bad.

That was Lorraine Warren
became nauseous and had a headache.

But I started walking
up the stairs. I came halfway.

Then I saw:
"This is probably not a good idea."

I got a very spooky feeling
of the dog's reaction.

I had never before, either
later, see him react like that.

It's now January 1977.

Several months after the family
Lutz 'escape, the house is empty.

The famous ghost hunter
Hans Holzer is now on site-

-to try their own theories
about the DeFeo killings.

Laura DiDio was there,
engaged as a researcher by Holzer.

Hans contacted me in November
and said he was going to write a book.

"Can you help me
with the surveys? "

"And I want to bring
Ethel Johnson to the house. "

She was the medium he worked with.
"We are doing our own investigation."

Ethel Johnson is a trans medium.

She opens up for communication
with the other side.

Then spirits can make contact
and communicate through her.

that they are physically affected by the spirits.

The skull of the skeleton was broken off
of a young boy, a child.

conversations with previous owners.

In ten minutes
told the now former owner-

-why she thought
that it was nonsense and deception.

But when I mentioned Danny Lutz,
it was like pressing a button.

"It was him and George
who let the darkness into this house! "

I could see George in his eyes
