Hello.

I'm Jisoo, I will be acting as Eun Youngro in Snowdrop.

Youngro is a very bright and playful character in Snowdrop.

I hope you show lots of love for her.

How would a bright and playful character work out in Snowdrop?

Many of you must've have questions

When the teaser was released.

First of all, regarding Snowdrop that was previewed briefly through the highlight video

I want to ask a question to the director first.

In your words, director,

What work is Snowdrop like?

In the process of preparing for a mini series

The creators work in such details on

How this work would be complete

And for this Snowdrop, watching the final edit version

I'm very surprised as a director.

The basic storyline is the emotional love story of the two people who are next to me.

And that love story happens in the 1987.

And some other stories

That occur alongside with that love story

There's thriller, there's mystery

Suspense, action

Various characters, even comedy

Those things are all mixed in so nicely, where they are needed

That's what I've been feeling with that final edit version lately

It's such a unique experience I'm having

As a director with this work.

There's romance, thriller, mystery, comedy and action

That was such an interesting explanation

And the director of the series

Is saying that 'he's surprised again lately'

So I'm sure many of you are more excited

For this work which will be released this Saturday.

Regarding this, reporter Ha Gyunghyun from Sports Kyunghyang

asked another question to the director.

What was the initial intention of making the series Snowdrop

That's the question.

This work is something that has been written by writer Yu Hyun-mi

And she's been working on it for a very long time.

She read some journal of a North Korean defector

who made one's way out of the camp for political prisoners in 2008

And that's where the initial inspiration came from.

After, through so many hardships and processes

The stories began to expand themselves

And Writer Yu was attending college in the 80's

And she has experience

In all women's dormitory.

So those things she can relate to combined up

And while preparing for Snowdrop recently

The story started to become concretized.

As I told you at first

It began from a North Korean defector's journal

So this subject matter includes talking about North Korea.

It's less political or ideological

More on that North Korean human

So rather than focusing on North Korea itself,

it tries to really look deep into a human being with certain depth

That was where the writer began.

The individual experiences became the subject matter

And through that you wanted to talk about a human.

I understood it as that.

For this part, I think that we can understand it better

when we watch the work ourselves later on.

We've talked briefly to the director

So here are some questions for the actors.

First, I'd like to ask actor Jung Haein

Looking back at your filmography, we call it the batting eye, right?

Your filmography has been building up so nicely.

Every work you've done was successful

And you also were in that famous work this year

So what part of this work Snowdrop

triggered your batting eye, Jung Haein, so that

You decided to work for this?

Yes, so first I had my faith in the director and the writer.

The storyline is so much fun.

That was the biggest thing.

The unexpected turns at the story as well as the ending

And when I first met the director,

That's when I got my assurance.

Making the work with this director at scene,

Of course every work is hard in its process,

But with him I can really do the work with the sense of achievement and happiness.

That's the faith I felt

And he also gave me

The full faith as well

So I had to do this work.

So since he has so much faith in actor Haein

The director was just looking straight ahead during that answer.

With so much faith he has.

That was a gist of the mood at the scene.

Reading the description for Suho the character for Snowdrop it says,

'Lim Suho is a graduate school student from a prestigious college. He has a lot of stories.'

What part of him did you focus on to act him out?

He has a strong leadership.

I had a chance to meet with you through some event

And you said that then too.

'With this COVID era, I'm staying at home'

'taking care of my body wholeheartedly for the work'

So I think that was all to meet this work

After having met Haein,

Let's ask actor Jisoo some questions.

You acted as this character, but before acting this character,

after getting selected as the main actor for Snowdrop

you must have received the script.

I wonder what it felt like to have received that script for the first time.

I read the script before the initial audition

And Youngro the character was such a bright and charming person

So I was very drawn into it

Thinking how I want to deliver such bright energy to

Many people who are watching.

So you were drawn to that brightness

As you said, reading the character description for Youngro

Bright, cute, lovely

These are the keywords in there.

Could you elaborate more like Haein did

So that the viewers know 'oh, so that's the character'

With a more detailed explanation,

Please share when you felt the similarity with Youngro while you were acting her character

Or some differences you felt, 'this is different, so I need to fill this with my acting'

I wonder about whether the similarities outweighed the differences, or vice versa.

As Youngro has been living on with her life

Things were not always smooth

Despite all that, she's still very bright

Trying to give out energy to many people she meets

And I thought that's an admirable character of her that I can learn.

As I'm acting out Youngro

I learned so much from who Youngro is.

With the things you learned from the character Youngro

How you show them in your daily lives or in your group,

After your amazing work Sky Castle

You're back to screen with writer Yoo Hyun-mi in 3 years

So you talked about the subject material and others

Pairing up with her in 3 years

And coming back with directing Snowdrop. I would like to hear your comments on that.

The work was so hard, it was killing me.

I've never imagined in my dreams how

The shooting of this would be this hard, it was very hard

And since it's a historical piece, we moved around the whole nation to film

Like the wandering troupe, with these two actors

Going every place in Korea

Looking for that detail of the year 1987 for the filming

So I'm not exaggerating when I'm saying I almost died.

But with the two actors through the hardships

We relied on each other and enjoyed the work

I realized that the work has such a huge scale

Way bigger than what I first anticipated

I realized that while I was filming.

I also came to question

a lot on my capability while doing this work.

This work, as I told you

Is from an old inspiration by writer Yu Hyun-mi

Even before doing Sky Castle

I heard about this work from writer Yu.

And I was interested in it

And around when Sky Castle was over, it was beginning to get into life

With the affection and conviction

writer Yu had for this work

Personally, I was really touched.

So I'd nag writer Yu for the work.

'I really want to try it out.'

And that passion I had,

I didn't know that it'd turn out to be something so tough

Anyways the shooting's all done well now, we just finished the editing

And thanks to that, we got to meet so many great people

Haein too, and Jisoo too.

So I'm like a bit relieved now, I guess?

I think that's how I feel.

I can get a glimpse of the three people sitting next to me.

It felt like the three of you were sitting comfortably

and looking good.

That could be because filming was not really easy.

I think you're in the most comfortable state right now.

TV Daily reporter Kim Jong-hoon asked another question

to the director.

Why did you name the drama Snowdrop?

He asked the question.

Dramas continue to change from the planning stage,

like a living creature.

Likewise,

the title continued to change.

The writer suggested this title.

As you might know, Snowdrop

it refers to a flower that blooms through snow.

What it symbolizes is that spring is just around the corner.

This flower symbolizes that spring will come in the near future

if you endure this severe cold.

So Haein and Jisoo next to me

experience big accidents and incidents

in the dorm.

I personally liked the title

because Snowdrop contains a message of hope

in that severe ordeal.

And to add more, 'Snowdrop'

I was attracted to how it sounds.

So I liked the title from the beginning,

so it was decided like that.

He briefly explained the meaning of the title Snowdrop,

which contains a message about the upcoming hope.

asked Jung Haein.

In the past, you acted in romance dramas such as 'Something in the Rain',

'One Spring Night' and 'A Piece of Your Mind'

and earned the modifier of a romance master,

but you also showed another side through 'D.P.'

What other acting can we expect from you

in this work, Jung Haein?

It's actually a hard question.

This work is my first historical piece.

My acting is important,

but there are also so many actors in it.

And I get to work with them all.

There is a certain chemistry that occurs when actors meet.

Through this drama, I experienced something new

and learned a lot.

I'm really looking forward to the results.

So I'm looking forward to them.

From the shoot preparation stage

to even between shootings,

I was so into the character, which makes me question if this had happened before,

so the time I spent for shooting

will stay with me for really long as a very precious memory.

As much as you were into this character,

trying to fully convey the character to the viewers

may be all actors' desire and goal.

I wonder if there was anything you particularly paid attention to

in order to effectively express the character,

or if you prepared in the same way you did before.

First of all,

this work is completely different from the previous ones.

It's also completely different in terms of the character,

so I think you'll feel it

once you watch the work.

And we're sitting like this right now,

but as I said earlier,

many actors appear

in the drama.

I think it'll be fun to see their acting.

In order to express

the person who lived in that era,

I had to know the historical background

to some extent

Although he is just an imaginary person,

he still lived in that era.

So that's what I focused on.

I've been listening from the beginning,

but I didn't expect to hear the word 'diverse',

either in terms of the genre,

or the character Suho

but it seems to have been repeated several times.

That's why I keep thinking

that there's more than what we've seen in the preview video.

I asked how you felt before acting earlier.

Snowdrop is your first leading drama.

How do you feel now after the acting?

And did you feel any pressure

or were there difficulties while acting?

Since it was my first time,

I was very nervous.

But when I went to the set and acted, I felt like I became Youngro.

Everyone took good care of me, so I had a lot of fun filming.

You told us that people helped you

so that you could be Youngro.

It could be a little mischievous,

but which actor helped you the most?

And how much did Jung Haein,

who played your counterpart,

help you?

Since we were in many scenes together,

he took care of me a lot

and thought a lot about my character.

For each scene, we always tried to imagine how the two would have felt

as we made each of the scenes.

And many actors there

monitored each scene with me,

and gave me lots of advice and tips.

So I had a lot of fun while learning.

In fact, if you do the first challenge alone,

it often becomes a lonely and difficult journey.

But listening to what you said,

it seems that everyone contributed to creating Snowdrop together.

This time, Ha Gyunghyun from Sports Kyunghyang

asked a question to director Jo Hyun-tak.

Let's see what it is right away.

I wonder why you cast Jung Haein and Jisoo.

In particular, why did you select Jisoo,

who had no acting experience, as the heroine?

Jung Haein was an actor

we wanted to work with from the beginning.

So since the creation of the synopsis,

the writer and I had prepared the work

with Jung Haein in mind.

But when we first contacted Jung Haein

we were rejected.

We changed, reorganized everything,

and prepared more meticulously before contacting him again.

Thankfully, Jung Haein made lots of considerations,

and decided to work with us in the end.

I remember the day Jung Haein decided to join.

We met, talked, and had beer together.

I think it was one of the happiest days

while I was working on Snowdrop.

As a director of the work, delivering the script to the actor you want

and getting approval for it is one of the biggest joys.

So I had a lot of fun drinking beer that day.

About Jisoo,

I did something I had never done before.

I created Youngro

with the writer,

but we didn't know what she would be like.

I always think actors complete the characters.

At first, I didn't think of giving the Youngro character to a rookie actress.

But, as soon as I saw Jisoo,

I immediately thought

she was Youngro.

Just like that, it was decided.

I don't know if Jisoo remembers,

but as soon as I met her,

I threatened and begged her to work with me.

I begged her to tell her agency that she would do this work.

That's how it started.

It was not that elegant.

But it was hard to hide my feelings.

So I remember begging Jisoo when I first met her.

That's how I got to work with these two precious people.

Let me add one more thing to what the director said.

I think you're trying to explain why you said no at first.

Actually,

I thought I wouldn't be able to do it at first.

I really wanted to do it when he contacted me.

But I was filming

'D.P.' at the time,

so the schedule overlapped with that.

So I was like 'What should I do? I want to do it...'

I was in such situation

Fortunately, the director, the production crew,

and other actors were all very considerate and understanding,

so I was able to join them.

So on the day I met the director for the first time

and drank beer, as he mentioned,

he gave me faith.

He explained in detail.

That is why I was able to join them.

So you said no at first, not because you did not like the work,

but because of your schedule,

I think that was the explanation.

To sum up the director's answer,

he was attracted to them as a creator.

I think I know what it means.

Aside from being logical,

he thought Jung Haein and Jisoo

as the actors,

would be perfect for what he pictured.

I think I know what it means.

I'd like to ask one more question to you, since you are the creator, director of this work.

Through the previews and introduction phrases,

this work has been introduced

as a romance story between Youngro and Suho.

So, if that's the case,

I think the romantic chemistry between the two characters is very important.

What's your take on the chemistry

between Youngro and Suho

that you saw on the set?

It's going to be aired the day after tomorrow,

so I think viewers will find out soon.

But personally,

I think a really mysterious light is given off

from those who are purely immersed

in their works.

Haein and Jisoo were both purely immersed

in their characters and work.

They are very purely devoted people.

So, these are people that don't obsess over secular interests nor do they bluff.

There are characters that only those types of people can express,

and the chemistry that appears when those types of people meet,

I think it's something that can't be imitated and is uniquely their own.

But, as expected that was what I felt every time we were filming

also I once again was certain that only those types of people can do that kind of act

I always waited for these two people to appear on the filming site

When they did show up, I was always smiling and saying a lot of nonsense

so I think I filmed very delightfully.

You might have said it as a joke, but when you said 'when the 2 actors appeared, you said a lot of nonsense'

but the two actors did react.

I think there was a lot of interesting conversations on set.

This too, after the work is released, if you have the means to tell us the behind-the-scenes story, we will hear it.

This time reporter Ha Gyunghyun from Sports Kyunghyang and reporter Baek Seung-hoon from iMBC asked this question.

I think they have given the two actors a similar question.

They asked the two actors how they felt about working with each together.

How was it?

Yes, well for me every time we filmed, honestly how should I say this, I was consistently shocked.

First of all, acting is made together, with the other actor.

But in that regard, she was very considerate

after that, when the director gave us directions for the scene we were filming,

it's not easy to understand that and express it right away.

Because it can take some time, I was shocked because some of those times were very short

also, I was very surprised that it was implemented very well.

And since the character at the center of the story is also Youngro

there are a lot of people surrounding Youngro.

But I think she held the center very well there

also among the students that are in the dorm, there are dozens of students there

but because she held the center well, I think she made it so that those people can act more comfortably

I was very thankful while filming.

You were surprised and thankful.

He complimented you a lot but, while listening to the compliments, Jisoo's helplessness caught my eyes.

How was is for you Jisoo? Working together?

It was my first time, so I didn't know how I was coming out

and there was a lot of parts I was lacking.

Because he guided me a lot and made me comfortable,

I think it was an environment that I could act with more focus.

I think you said that you said you made it with many people on scene.

I think we can understand it again as the extension of that answer.

Please tell us what kind of position you are at as a director regarding public concerns or public criticism.

Well, first to answer this question I think I have to first explain 'Snowdrop'.

Even though 'Snowdrop' is set in the 1987 era, but

other than the circumstances of the military regime and the presidential election at that time,

every character, setting and institution is a fictitious creation.

The reason for those creations is to tell the story where Suho and Youngro are in the center,

those things were focused on to tell the sad love story of the youths.

Anything besides that are all made up of fictitious stories.

That is why we have our own reality and density in it

and we filmed it confidently.

In the first place, as some phrases leaked out in the beginning,

as those things combined, rumors that were hard to swallow was spread

as those things were accepted and reported as a certain established fact, I felt a lot of different emotions.

I am deeply reflecting on the fact that the production team didn't take responsibility and neglected to manage it from the beginning.

Also, because I am working on a work after 3 years,

also because the writer is making the work with an extreme responsibility,

I think we don't have that much aspects that you are thinking about.

Those parts will be aired soon on Saturday the day after tomorrow

so I hope you will see it for yourself and confirm it.

If I add one last thing,

recently our country's dramas and movies are gaining a lot of attention worldwide.

At the same time, I am just as happy as if it was my own work, and I have an unknown proudness.

Us creators when we work on a project

I hope you know that we work hard to make the project with a lot of responsibility and sense of duty.

Saying these types of things before it airs

can be a little painful and a pressure for creators.

I wish you can take that into account.

You might have waited to say these kinds of things

or it might have been hard for you to select the right words to say publicly

Earlier, a group poster of 23 actors was released.

There was a poster that became a very hot topic in the lineup itself, with 23 people standing in black and white

I said this earlier but many actors, such as Yoo In-na, Jang Seung-ho, Yoon Se-ah, Kim Hye-Yoon, Park Sung-Woong, has participated in the work.

Honestly, I heard a little bit about the casting of the two main actors, but there was a sincere story.

How did this amazing casting become complete,

among these many characters, is there any characters the viewers should focus on

I'm curious if you have a hint.

Because this deals with the 1987 era

I thought from the director's point of view that a certain sense of realism was a really important point.

Based on that realism, each and every one of the actors were very hard to cast.

And the reason they picked this work was because as you all know it was a very good script.

Personally as I was producing it, all of the actors acted very passionately

so I am in the process of finding that out with joy in the editing room,

especially, I've never seen a work where the two actors Park Sung Woong and Heo Joon-Ho collided with each other.

So in this work those two people's passionate acting, character comedy and some type of tenseness? I think these will be fun.

Also the two actors, Yoon Se-ah and Kim Hye-Yoon that I worked with in Sky Castle,

those two actors act with a special mystery and some type of tenseness.

I think that part could be a very interesting point to watch.

They expressed their own characters with depth, anyway I feel very happy.

You threw us the keyword mystery, as you were talking about a specific character.

Also, you mentioned two people I thought was a rather unexpected combination, and you threw in the keyword character comedy.

How this is implemented in the work, the viewers can wait and find it out for yourselves.

What did you feel about the actual atmosphere as an actor, and was there an actor that was the mood maker on set that lightens the atmosphere,

I'm curious if there was an ace.

Yes, well, like you said since there are many characters that appear, it's very important, the atmosphere.

The atmosphere of the set, the energy.

Whenever I went, I always happily thought what kind of things will happen today?

And also, what other kinds of new chemistry will come out while acting?

What kind of directions will the director give, and how excitingly will the filming director film the scenes?

I had this kind of excitement and anticipation

well, a lot of actors and staff members who appeared on the set really laughed a lot

even though we were wearing masks, the people who made a atmosphere where we smiled through our masks

were the two people sitting right here.

Because the director was very witty earlier,

he cracks a lot of jokes on set.

But mainly when the director is a bit tired

when he was tired like this, the jokes came out one by one.

And Jisoo catches that well and reacts to it well.

Anyway, when directing, I think there must have been a point of differentiation in the directing

since it is a historical work.

I'm also curious about which part you gave the most emphasis on

in terms of directing, from the point of view of a historical drama.

Since this story is set in the dormitory of a women's university,

the realism of what's happening in the dormitory was the most important part for me.

That's why 64 female college students

in the dormitory were dressed,

styled, and filmed with props

as if they were really living in the dormitory.

Can they really feel that way?

I felt that and thought that if they acted like that,

it would become the tone of the entire work and be realistic.

So, I really worked hard to prepare that part with the art director, film director, editor, and music director

from 8 to 9 months ago.

And we also have 60 female college students as fixed actors in the dormitory.

We carefully brought great people with really harsh auditions.

I hope you pay attention

to their outfits and art in the dorm.

Also, in the space outside the dormitory,

there are costumes and makeup performed by three fashion designers

Baek Ji-won, Jeong Hye-young, and Kim Jeong-ran in the play.

It would be nice if you could see a little bit of those parts as well, and

the content of the drama is interesting,

but it would be best if you enjoy it with your eyes too.

I tried to focus on directing those things.

I think I got a little more hint through your words.

I think the dormitory space will appear much more importantly

in the work than it was released as a trailer.

I think it would be nice if viewers and reporters could pay more attention to this.

asked Jisoo about the time background.

You mentioned items from the 1980s.

Were there any difficulties as an actor

while preparing and digesting the costumes, styles, and hair of that time? He asked.

I think it was a lot of fun looking for the style

and music of that era and the background.

There are items that are popular these days that were seen back then.

My parents lived in that era

I showed my parents the clothes I was going to wear like this

and was like, 'Did you wear these'

'have you seen this kind of person,'

'yes, I think so.'

So I went ' Oh, right'

I think I had a lot of fun preparing it while asking a lot of people.
