When meeting him
for the first time,

something that he was
super passionate about

was his faith.

It was at that point
we connected

because I am a Christian

and that's something
that's important to me.

In the LGBT community,

I feel like we're judged more.

- I always wanted
a sibling growing up.

After I met the Lord, so many
good things have transpired.

I met Sarah.

It's awesome how God works.

- I grew up very Baptist

and being gay
was not acceptable.

It really honestly turned
me off to religion because

I always thought
that God was supposed to

be a loving and forgiving God.

I really feel like
the way I was raised

and just in my church,

I felt extremely rejected

and shameful for many years
about who I am as a person.

To have that taken
away from me, to be honest,

I really miss that community
and being in the church.

But since this whole them and
Murphy thing has been going on,

I've been trying to stay neutral
because it hasn't involved me.

People like to judge

I used to date Marissa

and now I am super
close with Summer,

but I don't think
it's weird at all.

I first came out,

it definitely made me feel that

to hell for being gay.

a really long time and
I actually sang in the choir

and my youth group
and then I started

having feelings towards
women when I was about 14.

So I actually struggled with

a lot of depression at that age.

Obviously, everything
that I learned in church

preached against being gay.

It definitely
made me feel homophobic.

So it was really hard for me to

accept myself for a long time.

Like, I don't know
what the message is.

Like what are you
trying to convey to me?

It's hard for me to talk about

it because I get like agitated.

Because of your past?

like brings me

back to like a negative state

and they always say
that God is a good God,

and if that's the case,

why would he make gay
people then

if we're going to hell
just for existing,

has been out of control

and I have just
been not well personally,

I can't force myself to paint.

of doing therapy again?

I know you did it
before in your past.

But it like... therapy
really like helped open me up

because I'm not like a big...
before therapy,

I was not someone that talked
about my feelings at all.

Oh, I've come to
the conclusion if I want to

be a functioning
person of society,

I need to go back to therapy.

Everyone thinks
that I'm this happy,

sweet, awesome person and

it's like I'm actually very sad.

I've gone through so much and
I really feel like I can't...

I can't be the best version

of myself
unless I go to therapy.

I got expelled in seventh
grade for drugs and a weapon.

But realistically, I used to
carry a box cutter on me

to open up my blunts.

So, I got sent to rehab.

I was in rehab for six months.

I got sent to a group home.

I was in a group home
for six months.

I went through a lot of trauma

and heartbreak at
a really young age.

I dealt with being mentally,

emotionally
and physically abused,

which led me
to being very defiant

and lost as a teenager.

So I got sent
from place to place

for five years
of my teenage life.

That's a lot. Can I tell
you how similar we are,

I just didn't get caught?

I always joke and say
I got all my bad habits out

when I was younger.

I did. That's what
I say. I totally did.

I cheated on all
my girlfriends.

I lied to my
girlfriends.

I would date three people at
one time and not care at all.

And now it's like,
I go to date someone

and I let them in immediately
and I get screwed over.

It's like now I'm at the
point where I'm not even sure if
I want to date anybody.

'Cause I'm not trying to
feel shitty anymore.

I'm sick of feeling shitty.

I'm like, I can't go
through another heartbreak.

dating for like months
and then she started eating

somebody else
and I stopped talking to her.

trying to process that.

I really had no idea

we are judged more for
being faith driven.

of the rejection feeling again

you really love

your family and
you feel like they loved you.

love someone unconditionally

out on the streets

by their families

trust anybody and

form any trusting relationships.

But God loves gay people,

just as they are
beautifully created.

really helped clear up
