Tonight, the competition
goes to a whole new level

when two alter ego identities
are revealed to the judges.

The top 16 are paired up
in head-to-head battles,

and only one can win.

And that spot's for me.

At stake, a spot
in the semi-finals,

and a chance to win
the grand prize of $100,000

and being mentored
by our superstar panel.

Let's meet our amazing
panel of judges.

Please show a lot of love

and tech entrepreneur

And actor, singer,

Four of the alter egos
who survived the audition round

are here to take
each other on

in the series
of head-to-head performances.

It will be up
to our panel of judges

to vote on who stays
and who goes.

And the best part of this
is that the judges don't know

anything about the contestants'
real identities.

But, while the judges
may be in the dark,

everyone at home
will be able to get
the meet the people

who are behind them
vying to become the next
generation's superstar.

Judges, now that you guys
have gotten over

the initial shock and awe
of seeing them perform,

how are you going to decide
which alter ego

in each head-to-head
deserves to move on

and which goes home?

For me, it's about
the whole picture--

vocal performance,
that charisma,

that intangible thing
that just kind of compels us.

And we're looking
for that emotional connection
to the performance.

like you need an alter ego?

Well, I faced a lot
of challenges in my life,

and this is what
I see in the mirror.

I myself am a drag queen.

In drag, I am creating
this persona.

And here at "alter ego,"
I can just be me,

but you get to see her.

In this round,
only one gets to move on
to the semi-finals,

and that spot's for me.

I love safara.

Her and neveah
can do a duet one day.

But that day is not today.

They both got here
because they did great
in the audition round,

we saw neveah king
give it her all.

But was it enough to move on
to our semi-finals?

Well, not if our next alter ego

When I first stepped out
on the stage as safara

in the audition round,
that moment was probably

one of the best moments
of my entire life.

I felt like I put
my heart out there.

Where do you come from?

I come from a place

where everybody is accepted
the way they are

and nobody tears anybody down.

- That's where I'm from.

I felt like I was able to just,
like, be myself as safara.

It really just felt
very emotional.

When I did my audition song,

I definitely felt my mom's
spirit with me.

When my mom passed away,
I was only 11 at the time.

I think my mom
would love safara

because my mom was very spunky
and very fiery,

and she was the life
of the party.

I think she would have
loved her, yeah.

I think being the next
generation's superstar

would 100% help me
achieve my goal

of letting other people
that feel like me

know that they can be
whatever they want

and it doesn't matter
what you look like.

So that's what I would do
as the next superstar.

chronic illness.

And, for me, what's intriguing

is that bit of mystery, right,

more about,

It's crazy because
I completely gave up singing
a few years ago.

Just a lot of really
negative voices began to win,

and I believed them, sadly.

So then when I was told
about this show,

I thought, what a greater way
to show my girls

to take that last chance
to just go after your dreams.

Yeah, this was a huge
turning point for me

with having phoenix
as my alter ego to hide behind.

And, yeah,
she definitely just unlocked
a new side of myself.

You are so talented
and you are so deserving.

And that feeling
that she brought to you?
