- Hi everyone, thanks so
much for joining this course.

I'm very excited to have you here.

First of all let's introduce myself.

My name is Zacharias Reinhardt

but you can simply call
me Zach if you like.

I'm the founder and lead
instructor here at CG Boost.

And I started to learn 3D in 2004

with Blender and Cinema 4D.

Since then I've created a
lot of personal projects

but I also worked for roughly seven years

as freelance 3D artist and
a certified Blender trainer

creating a lot of client projects,

animations, renderings and so on.

And I also taught companies,
freelancers and individuals

on how to use Blender.

In 2018, I left my freelance career behind

to fully focus on building
up my online business

called CG Boost.

And my goal and mission at
CG Boost is to help people

pursuing their dreams
to become a 3D artist

and eventually making a living

with what they are passionate about.

Since 2010 I put up a YouTube channel,

I published countless
hours of Blender tutorials

in German and later on in English.

And besides of all this 3D
stuff, which is also my hobby,

I am a family father, I am
married and I have two childrens.

And I also love to cook
vegetarian and vegan food.

So what will you learn in this course?

The goal of this course is to
take you from knowing nothing

about Blender 2.8 and 3D in general,

to the point where you
have a strong foundation

which you can use to create
your very own first 3D projects

and that you will be able to
take on more advanced topics

after watching this course.

So 3D is a huge topic and we
won't cover everything here,

but we will cover all the important stuff

which you need to get started.

In the first chapters we
will cover, let's face it,

the boring topics.

But they are necessary
and in order to make them

a little bit more fun to watch,

I created a bunch of small 3D scenes

which we will use to
explain certain things.

And under each lecture you
can also download these scenes

to play around with,
which I highly recommend.

After this we will get to
the more exciting part.

From this point we splitted
the course into two sections.

The fundamental section
and the exercise section.

So in the fundamental
section you will learn

about workflows, tools,
features and other stuff.

And in the exercise sectors you will learn

how to use all this knowledge
to work on an actual project.

We will create this 3D animated scene

from scratch in this course.

So these chapters include
stuff like modeling,

we will create the car
and the environment,

then we will color the
whole scenes with materials,

we will add lighting, animation,

we will use particle effects,

and then we will learn
about the rendering.

That means how to create images or videos

from your animated 3D scene.

For this animated car scene,

which we will create in this course,

I picked this low poly style,

which basically means
that we create objects

with very simple surfaces.

And this saves us a lot of time,

it's not too complicated to create,

but this still looks beautiful.

So this art style is perfect
for people starting out

to create animations, tell
your stories and so on.

So you don't waste your
time on learning how

to create super realistic stuff,

which takes a lot of time
and practice to get right

and also it's way more complicated

to animate and everything.

For this first iteration of the course

I also decided to leave out
some of the more advanced

and complicated topics, which
are for example, UV mapping,

texturing, rigging, compositing

and in general, the effects stuff.

Because I wanna focus on the
stuff which is really important

to create scenes like you've seen here.

After watching the course,
you will have the confidence

and knowledge to learn all
the other stuff way easier.

Blended 2.8 comes with this new exciting

realtime render engine called EEVEE.

And since EEVEE is really responsive,

we see everything in real time

in the 3D view port of Blender.

We will use EEVEE basically
for everything in this course

but Blender also ships
with another render engine

called Cycles.

Which is like a photo realistic renderer.

So with this engine the
image quality is much better

but it also takes way more
time to generate these images.

But the good thing is, nearly
everything you will learn

in this course you can also use

for the Cycles render engine

and in the rendering fundamentals chapter

we will also take a quick look

into the Cycles render engine.

So that you don't miss
out any important stuff.

a little bit more advanced,

and maybe don't wanna watch everything,

with a little fire symbol

that means that these are
the most important lessons.

So if you wanna like, quickly
go through the whole course

I at least recommend
to watch these lessons.

And if you have a hard
time understanding English,

we also provide English captions.

That means you have to press the CC button

in the video controls

and there you can switch
to the English captions.

And if you download the course,

there are also caption files included.

These are these srt files

which basically have the
same name as each video file.

And if you put both of
these files into one folder

and then for example play the
videos with the VLC Player,

then this will automatically
use the caption file

and shows this in the video

which is really convenient to use.
