in the parking lot, and I'm
the old rusty '57 Chevy.

Steve and I met at a car
show a few months ago.

And I've seen his stuff
in all the magazines.

He really puts his heart
and soul into them

and creates art out of junk.

Well shoot, let's go look
at this car.

See what we got.

'65 Lincoln Continental
convertible.

Twenty-two feet long.

Six thousand pounds.

Tuna cruiser.

Holy crap.

What a big old turd.

What do you want to do?

Well, looking for
something more customized.

I wanna make something
that's, you know,

iconic and really fits me.

It's a little bit out of
the whole shop's element.

You know, it's - it's not um
a pre-war rust bucket kind

of car but it's nothing
that they can't do.

I want Steve to really leave
his mark on it but also have

it reflect my lifestyle
and California,

I mean this is a very
California car.

Okay, I'll be honest
with you dude.

This is not my game at all.

Daniel pulls up in this-
in this Lincoln and

I'm thinkin, Dude, everybody
on the planet's already

tried to fix one of
these things.

The Lincoln get's it's fame
for being the car that

JFK was assassinated in.

The Lincoln Continental
is an iconic luxury car.

Most recognize it for
it's suicide rear-doors.

Seein in the movies dating
back to the 1950's,

it is the ultimate
Hollywood ride.

This is the kind of car that a
rat-rodder would never touch.

I mean this thing's
got no rust.

No junky parts.

I mean like it's
completely out of my realm.

But I'm kind of honoured
that this guy wants me

to take this Lincoln,
use my vision on it.

How are YOU gonna make it
different than everybody else?

We're gonna, I dunno.

We're gonna try something.

That's gonna be
a tough order.

I wanna paint it
like your suit.

Like a tuxedo theme.

We'll do black with some
gold in it -Hell yeah.

That'll look good.

We had already talked on the
phone, I said you know give

me some ideas, I need to
know what you're into.

Give me some insight.

I mean he told me he was
into cuff links, I'm like,

what, what are cuff links?

This is all cool stuff.

A lot of like bar tools.

Oh, that's kinda cool.

It's an old jigger for
measuring booze in your drink.

Let's talk about the
money situation here.

I'm gonna throw

I think we're gonna be
somewhere around forty grand.

Steve comes at
me pretty hard.

I'm already into
the car for a lot.

The Continentals
are very desirable.

Especially the Convertibles
and the '65 is kind of the

Goldilocks year.

I know you do amazing work
and whatnot, but I was,

I was really lookin
at more like thirty.

Dude, there's no way.

This car's gotta
be different.

This guy lives
in Hollywood.

It's gotta look Hollywood.

We'll use what we
have on the car.

We'll use the bumpers.

We're gonna take a go kart
and a quad and combine it

into a Welderup rat-quad.

The boys are about to
learn from a master.

connect the frames up.

So it has the whole rear-end
of the four-wheeler back here.

Sounds like a pretty
big project to me.

intense body work before

anybody can get in
here and do their job.

a get it done type of guy.

He's relentless.

He will sand and beat on
this car till it's straight.

We were told by Daniel, it was
actually a pretty decent car.

Well, paint hides
a lot of ah sins.

This car is really
really rough.

I've been sanding
for 5 days straight.

Block sanding it.

Primering it.

Block sanding it.

I mean it is like, I'm into
this thing 5 days

and we haven't even
touched nothing.

I gotta get going here.

It's giving me an
anxiety attack.

Sh t.

Piece of crap.

Now it doesn't wanna fire.

That distributor's shot.

So the body and
motor are crap.

Other than that,
everything's great.

We took a 65 Lincoln for our
Hollywood client, Daniel.

He wants classy and flashy,
when we're used

to doing rusted junk.

I've got 8 days left and all
we've done is sand on

this damn thing...and the
motor is bad as the body.

Right now we're trying
to get the car running.

It was running, for some reason
it doesn't wanna run now.

The Lincoln's just giving us
nothing but problems...

one after the other.

Transmission issues, we've got
overheating issues...

it's got a bad
distributer,

it's all wore out.

There's a lot of
pieces to these cars.

These cars are crazy.

The technology that they
had in 1965 is unbelievable.

There's four hydraulic
motors in here that just

run the trunk and the
convertible top.

I don't know how many
switches every car moves

as this trunk opens.

One switch runs another
switch to run another switch.

It is a sh tstorm.

If one thing goes wrong,
this top goes, wraaah, werhhh.

Everything we touch ends up
breaking, and we're finding

a lot more parts needed
than we budgeted for.

What are you doing Kash?

and putting motors
in other stuff.

And just a matter of seein
how much tools that

they're gonna break
before it's over.

constant voltage regulator?

For under the dash.

The parts on the '65 Lincoln
are hard to find because

it's a single year only.

So they're not remaking
a lot of parts for it.

And what's out there is
either new-old stock which

means that it's original.

Or it's rebuilt.

Not only are they hard to
find, but they're expensive.

You know it's as no one,
no one has anything.

Steve's goin to a pick-site
looking for Lincoln parts.

Hopefully he gets
lucky....

if not we're going
way over budget.

got back from paint.

Now we have to pull the
rest of it together.

So a big ole car like this,
It needs to be able to pull

up and slam drop all
the way to the ground.

Because, way cooler.

Old folks don't like it.

It's pimpin.

Big Hollywood, this is
what this guy needs.

The system has to
calibrate itself.

It's got little
leveller's on it.

To keep your ride height
level while you're driving.

And so it's ah programming
itself right now.

So it's just gonna go up
and down and do a bunch

of funky stuff by itself.

It's got a mind of
it's own right now.

Awful low for ride height.

It's so close to
the ground now.

Most of 'em don't slam
all the way on the ground.

We actually went in and cut
that inner fender wells out

and we got it all the
way on the ground.

The problem with that is,
it's just not engineered

to travel like that.

And we're makin it do it.

We over-slammed this
car on the ground.

Well, we're lookin for any
kind of clearance problem.

Since we lowered this thing,
really probably when

it's lowered an inch
from the ground.

Search and repair.

Cause this is gonna be the
first thing that hits

when you hit a speed bump.

Little worried with our nice
very super-expensive rims.

That when the car leans,
