I updated and found a new color 8

correction tool called Lumetri color 9

and it gives us lots of great new 10

options for coloring color correction 11

and color grading our own video. So let's 12

dive into this new tool and see how it works 13

Ok so we are here in Adobe Premiere Pro 14

and if you go in your effects panel, 15

15

you'll see if you type in Lumetri or 16

16

go down to the video effects and color 17

17

Corrections folders you will see 18

18

a lumetri color effect. 19

Now if you just click and drag that onto 20

20

our clips on the timeline, 21

you will see that in. I already have one 22

actually on here i'm going to delete that, 23

but open your effects control window 24

and if you have a clip selected, you will 25

see this lumetric color. So you can go 26

in and edit it this way but what's nice 27

is that there is a completely new window 28

for the lumetric color and even the 29

29

lumetri scopes. 30

So if you like to use scopes while doing 31

color correction, which is a really good 32

thing to do, 33

you can use those, but you see here that 34

it pops up this new window. So it has a 35

lot of the same correction tools that 36

premiere pro had before but all within 37

this one panel and it within this one 38

effect and it has some new cool stuff. 39

It reminds me a little bit of editing 40

photos in lightroom so you'll see here 41

that if you 42

and of course here I am on my wedding 43

day, this is a little clip that I brought 44

in to show you 45

and I think it will be a good one, so 46

But anyway back to color correction. So 50

you'll see basic color correction and 51

I'm just going to go down through 52

everything you can use. So they have a 53

white balance, 54

so you can change the temperature make 55

it cooler or warmer and then you might 56

need to change the tent a little bit 57

maybe add a little bit more green or 58

magenta, to make sure that it looks correct. 59

Well more natural, down below is the tone 60

and you'll notice that there are various 61

ways to affect the exposure and the 62

contrast of your video within this one 63

effect but this is just one of them. 64

So you have an overall exposure which 65

basically increases or decreases the 66

exposure of the entire clip or and you 67

can double click within each line to 68

reset it to 0 or you can click over here 69

and type in 0 or a number. 70

There's also a contrast that basically 71

just crushes the blacks, it makes the 72

dark, darker and the light, lighter. So 73

adds a little bit of contrast which is 74

nice because with this video that was 75

shot on a Canon 5d, they were shooting 76

with as a scene mode that makes it very 77

neutral, makes it very desaturated, so I 78

want to add some contrast. 79

Let me just reset that highlights, this 80

will just affect the bright parts of 81

your video. 82

The shadows will affect sort of the 83

darker colors, the whites will affect the 84

pure whites, the very bright highlights, 85

so you'll see it affecting just my the 86

color of my shirt and let me make this 87

a little bit bigger so you can see 88

better if you have video that's a little 89

bit overexposed, you can drop it down and 90

same with the blacks, this affects the 91

really dark some of the video or 92

of your screen, so these dark parts of 93

the suit and then this phone especially 94

even in my hair and eyes. 95

So if you want something that's very 96

contrast, you can do that. All right let 97

adjustments. So we have different 131

adjustments like faded film, which makes 132

it that sort of faded look, it desaturate it, 133

it brings up the blacks in the darks and 134

it basically the contrast. 135

So it's not contrasted at all and that's 136

kind of a cool popular effect that 137

people are using a lot of times for 138

photos right? Within this effect is a 139

sharpen tool. 140

So you can sharpen your video just a 141

little bit, you can see that especially 142

when looking at my eyes, 143

it wasn't completely sharpened at zero. 144

You can also make it blurry if you want, 145

but I would say for most times you want 146

to sharpen a little bit. And then again 147

with vibrance and saturation here, two 148

vibrance and saturation and this reminds 150

me a lot about how Adobe lightroom works. 151

Now vibrance is different than the 152

saturation because it sort of is a smart 153

filter, it sees the trend colors and it 154

makes some more saturated more than 155

others. So it kind of tries to 156

intelligently add saturation to your 157

video and whereas with saturation it 158

basically just increases the color 159

across the whole board, so for everything. 160

So I'm just going to leave these effects 161

about where they were are. So you have 162

your tint balance. So this controls the 163

shadows and highlights and the color 164

sort of the hue or the tent that 165

each has. So say we want the shadows to 166

be a little bit more blue and then we 167

want the highlights to be a little bit 168

this can create sort of a cool effect 170

and then you can control the balance by 171

effect that people use a lot more so in 220

photography but it could be a cool 221

effect for video as well. And then with 222

all these, you can basically go into the 223

blue curve and adjust those colors themselves. 225

Next we have color wheels, which is 226

similar to what we had in the previous 227

this basically edits the darks. 230

So the shadows, so this is the brightness 231

of the shadows, the mid-tones and 232

highlights and then affects the color. 233

So say we want to make the shadows a little 234

So these are just different ways to edit 238

tool so right within the lumetric color, 243

there's a vignette option, you can add a 244

white vignete or a dark vignette. ou can 245

change the midpoint so make it bigger or 246

smaller. You change the round is so it's 247

more of a square or a circle and then 248

feather it more or less whether you want 249

it to the vignette to sort of fade more 250

or fade less and be a little bit harder 251

want to add keyframes to these color effects, 254

so say we want it to go from zero cents 255

it goes from black and white to color and you can do that 264

keyframes. Now that's a little bit more 266

advanced and you typically wouldn't be 267

doing that unless the lighting or 268

it's a good tool to know how to use. 270
