It's incredible!

Two men found shot to death inside of a car

here on 107th and Inglewood.

Police, now trying to find the killer.

When officers arrived, they found the two men dead

from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officials are set to release the results

of this year's homeless count today.

Last year in the city,

that number was more than 34,000.

In the county, almost 58,000 people.

The new LA Rams and Chargers stadium

is underway and the city of Inglewood

has been torn in two:

Those benefiting the surge in economic development

and those adversely affected by gentrification.

Thousands of new condos are being built.

New parks, a new Metro station.

Sending rent prices soaring.

Great for owners, but the majority of the residents here

are renters.

Of course, like I mentioned, housing.

And these are very real things that people are experiencing.

And to have city officials that don't want to speak to that,

is really, really discouraging.

But if you can look past the anger,

you will see the fear.

Development, we're for development,

but we want development without displacement.

And of course, we will have more on this story

as well as the annual Ball Up.

Three-on-three Street Ball Challenge.

This year they're going all out

with a 100,000-dollar grand prize.

Stay tuned, and we'll be right back.

'Preciate you. 'Preciate you.

Uh. Yeah.

How you guys doing tonight?

My name is Prentice Powell.

I have a poem I wanna share for you that I wrote

for my son, Justice.

Don't tell me I'm a good father

when you don't know anything about me.

And the fact that I'm Black should be irrelevant

when it comes to my ability to raise my son.

My skin tone should not make me any better

or worse when it comes to the paternal instinct,

but, because fathers like me are apparently extinct,

I get extra praise.

And for what? For doing what I'm supposed to do?

You good?

From strangers.

Try never spending a day in your life locked up in prison,

yet still watch your child grow up

primarily through photos.

And I know everything in this world

doesn't go the way we plan.

I can accept that. All that's fine.

I just don't understand how a man can be forced

to pay half of daycare, half of medical expenses,

half of food, half of clothes, half of water,

but the same man that laid down to create that child

is not automatically given half of the time.

Something about that equation is not right.

And when I'm done with this poem,

I don't care if you clap.

I don't care about your praise.

I care about your kudos.

I just want my air, my earth, my water, my drive, my moon,

my sun, my motivation, my me, my son.

Money!

What's up with it?

Hey, we gonna get that one-on-one eventually.

Man.

What up with you?

Ah man, you know how it goes. You know how it go.

I know you probably think I'm pressing you.

That tool, man. I can't have you out here walking around

with a gun on your hip, man.

Bro. You still on this bro?

Yes. Yes we are. We...

I care about you, Tako. For real.

I remember you being a kid in the Center hoopin'.

Dreams, goals, you had 'em.

I don't want to see that taken away.

Come on, man.

You better than that, dawg.

Killa, look. 40 minutes.

That's all I get of freedom. 40 minutes.

When I'm on that basketball court,

I don't see the ref.

I don't see the coaches. I don't see the cheerleaders.

I see a basketball and a goal.

After that 40 minutes is done,

I'm back in here.

Survival mode.

I understand.

I felt the same way.

But I can tell you, you can go beyond those 40 minutes.

That basketball, your dream, can take you beyond

those 40 minutes.

It can take you all the way.

But what you not gonna be able to do,

is have that fire inside of you

to run up and down this court if you locked up.

Why you care so much, bro?

You're one of the most talented people

I've ever seen in my life.

And you out here wasting it away on some gang bang,

gun-totin' stuff?

Love you, man.

And I just want to see you win, dawg.

Real talk.

I appreciate you.

So let me get the piece, man.

That's what I'm talking about.

Don't put your fingerprints on it.

Yeah, I definitely ain't puttin' no fingerprints on this.

I got that from a crackhead on Skid Row...

I don't want that shit you.

It's amazing how good you look

outside those basketball outfits.

I guess I clean up nicely,

but basketball is really my life.

I was never very good.

They always kept me on the bench.

So nobody really paid that much attention

to what I was doing.

See Avery, on the other hand,

he was that one kid that everyone talked about, you know?

There's always that one.

Were you that one in your neighborhood?

I was a good player, but it was really my dad
