an 18-month state jail term

while serving a 37-month
federal prison term

for money laundering
and tax evasion.

- Every week, hundreds
of men and women arrive

from county jails
throughout the state

at the rate of about 90,000
per year.

what I went through in there
but me.

And after a while, I wound up
in solitary confinement

for over 60 days.

It's called "the hole"
or "the shoe."

You're in a cell
all by yourself,

and your food comes
through a slot.

And after 29 days,

anyone kind of goes
a little bit crazy in there.

And...

it's very introspective,
kind of, in a way.

You reflect on your life
and the choices you've made

and what led you to here.

I was sure--I figured one time
I'd get in trouble,

but I didn't know
that it would take up

10 1/2 years of my life,

and I would spend
over three years in a--

a penitentiary
where women will die.

From '96 to 2000
was the boom of computers

and the Internet,

and when I got out
of the penitentiary

I talked to the brother
on my phone.

And he said, "Heidi,
is there anything you want?"

I said, "A computer."

Now, I'm just trying
to readjust to society.

I just spent three years
in lesbian hell.

- Heidi Fleiss told
the "L.A. Times"

she's recovering
from major plastic surgery.

Fleiss says she's broke.

She filed for bankruptcy

and hopes an online venture
to sell a book

will make her some money.

- She is now
very happily engaged

to a famous actor--
Tom Sizemore.
