[Love in Between]

[Episode 6]

I am guilty.

Say it.

According to the Intel,

the Guzi clan has entered Chiyan Desert.

Duke,

even if the painting isn’t obtained by Guzi clan

we won’t get it back in time.

Stand up and talk.

Duke.

Return and train the Jingbei Army

and prepare to go against the enemy.

I’ll deal with

The Painting of Splendid Landscape.

General Qin,

from today,

I’ll hand over Jingbei Army to you.

I’m afraid I can’t take it.

The Jingbei Army can’t go on without you.

Duke Wei Ning sent Lu Shou to be the chief prosecutor in Tuozhou,

so he can be the confidant

to send the imperial edict.

Lu Shou and Shen San Zhang colluded.

They were sent by Duke Wei Ning to deal with me.

When the imperial edict arrives,

my military control over the Jingbei Army will end.

By then,

I’m afraid Yan Qing will be implicated.

What do you plan to do?

The Jingbei Army and I are willing to risk our lives

to follow you.

What they want

isn’t The Painting of Splendid Landscape,

it’s my life.

If anything happens to me,

protect Tuozhou well.

This is your mission.

[Confidential]

That Shen San Zhang

is still waiting for the imperial edict in the city?

Yes.

His men are stationed in the government office.

Duke,

I think

His Majesty will try his best to save you.

You are devoted to protecting the Jiang empire.

Nobody is more worried

about the whereabouts of The Painting of Splendid Landscape than you.

The Jingbei Army doesn’t protect the surname Liang in Dasheng,

it protects the people of Dasheng.

General Qin,

if one day I’m gone,

please

take care of Qing Er.

Yes.

[Two months ago]

Mr Duan.

Get water from the sea, quick!

Hurry, come!

Father.

Lie down.

Father, please inform His Majesty

that I am guilty of losing The Painting of Splendid Landscape.

It has nothing to do with you.

Qing Er.

Rest well.

Don’t worry about me.

There isn’t

anyone guilty in our residence.

You’re awake?

Where is Ghost Boy?

He left.

Left?

Don’t worry.

I tricked him away.

He won’t come back.

Trick?

Meet my master with me, okay?

Why?

Because...

Because I was poisoned.

When did that happen?

In Chiyan Desert.

I was poisoned by the Three Devils of Snow City.

After taking care of you the entire night,

the poison has started to spread.

Master has medicine to cure me.

Look,

if I die,

you can’t explain to Wen Si Yuan.

The medicine.

It’s not available in Tuozhou?

I won’t go

to Tuozhou.

You were brave when you stole the painting,

But you won’t bother now.

When Shen Man Qing comes,

the painting will be returned.

You should care about me,

not Shen Man Qing.

If I die,

you won’t be able to complete the deal.

Come, let’s meet my master.

Why isn’t Lv Shou here yet?

He should be here soon.

Ask the magistrate to close the gates.

From tonight,

no one can enter or exit.

When Lv Shou is here,

bring him to Duke Jing An’s Mansion immediately.

Commander, aren’t you worried Duke Jing An will resort to violence

because of the lockdown?

Whether his plan will succeed or not

depends on this.

As long as The Painting of Splendid Landscape isn’t here,

he won’t dare to do so.

Yes!

Who is it? Get down from the horse!

This...

What is this?

Is Duke Jing An stopping the imperial edict?

Let him in.

Commander Shen, do you like to joke that much?

You’re welcoming me late at night

because you want to drink with me?

He has no time to drink.

Do you have the imperial edict?

Well...

Yes.

Head to Duke Jing An’s Mansion now.

Now?

It’s not time to deliver the imperial edict yet.

At least let me take a rest.

Lord Lv, this way, please.

I’ll find the way.

Wait for me here.

If Chang Ge and Zhu Yan show up,

tell them not to enter the city.

Wait for me here together

until tomorrow noon.

Understand?

Duke, Lv Shou is here.

The magistrate used the plague as an excuse

to issue a lockdown.

How dare he!

Tuozhou is the hub of the northern borders’ trade route.

How dare he issue a lockdown?

Report!

Chief Prosecutor, Lv Shou

and Court Guard, Commander Shen San Zhang are here.

They are here?

Who is that?

Duke.

You brought them here yourself?

If I don’t come personally, I’d let down

the urgent imperial edict.

What a grand reception.

Thank you.

Receive the imperial edict.

It’s not time yet.

Commander Shen, why are you in a hurry?

Acting in response to the will of Heaven and time,

Duke Jing An, Yan Yu lost The Painting of Splendid Landscape.

This is a capital offense.

His title

will be stripped and he must return to the capital to be punished.

His daughter, Yan Qing and his family will be imprisoned.

That’s it.

Duke, accept the imperial edict.

You read the imperial edict before the stipulated time.

It’s a breach of divine judgment.

I won’t debate with you now.

I advise you

to return and rest.

It’s for your own good.

If you’re not willing to gather your family,

I can enter your mansion

and do so myself.

Once they are all here,

you can depart to the Capital City.

Arrest them.

Who dares to do so?

What are you doing?

Are you going against the imperial edict?

This is Duke Jing An’s Mansion.

You can’t enter

as you like.

Who is it?

The weather is dry.

Be careful...

It’s time.

Arrest them.

Father!

Qing Er.

You’ve been successful in your whole life.

I am willing to live or die with you.

I

accept the imperial edict.

Yan Qing!

Wait!

Commander Shen,

it’s time.

You want to enter my residence

to see The Painting of Splendid Landscape, right?

This way.

Verify it.

Commander Shen,

it’s real.

Leave.

Duke,

you got the painting back.

You must guard it carefully.

If anything else happens,

His Majesty won’t be able to save you.

I’ll take my leave.

Stand right there.

Duke Jing An’s Mansion

isn’t a place that

you can come and go as you like.

Commander Shen,

you and I know clearly

who is behind

the imperial edict.

Since you’re an expert at sending messages,

inform your master.

Guzi kept invading our land.

As long as I am in Tuozhou,

memorials regarding increasing the army to fight against Guzi

won’t stop.

Hear that?

Good.

Good.

Duke, I will relay

what you’ve said

today.

I won’t see you out.

When did the painting appear?

It appeared suddenly in the back pavilion.

Investigate it.

Yes!

A yamen runner was attacked at the Western Wall

through his acupuncture point.

Looks like an itinerant did it.

Now,

how dare he intercepts in the imperial court’s business.

Increase the army and surround the city.

Yes!

Thank goodness.

You’re finally here.

All the roads are blocked.

Ms Shen entered two hours ago.

But, a troop of soldiers suddenly came.

She’s still inside.

I don’t know whether she is in trouble

or she has returned the painting.

No.

Before she left, she told you to

wait until she returns at noon tomorrow.

This person who returned the painting

is a potential danger.

The Jingbei Army failed to recover

The Painting of Splendid Landscape,

but that person did it alone.

This must be an experienced itinerant

that knows the terrain

and dangers well.

Moreover, Duan Yan is on friendly terms with Chiyan Desert.

Guzhi has the Chiyan Desert’s aid.

In such a short time,

the painting was stolen and returned.

It’s hard to measure his strategy and martial arts.

I’m afraid he didn’t do it alone.

In my opinion,

Tuozhou’s current defense

can’t stop aces from coming and leaving.

[Duke Jing An’s daughter, Yan Qing knows Duan Yan.]

[Duke Jing An’s daughter, Yan Qing knows Duan Yan.]

Don’t worry.

To secure something big, we must have a long term plan.

The Duke has his own plans.

As expected,

Duke Jing An’s daughter, Yan Qing and Duan Yan

have known each other since young.

I know what to do.

The battle between the Duke and Jingbei Army

happened more than once.

But,

this is the only time itinerants joined in.

This is also the only time

Duke Jing An acted aggressively in front of the imperial edict

and refused to adhere.

After thinking thoroughly,

there is only one possibility.

That is

Duke Jing An’s beautiful daughter, Miss Yan Qing

is implicated too.

If

something happens to Miss Yan Qing,

I think

no matter it is the itinerant

or Duke Jing An,

they will give themselves away.

That’s the border of Yekou.

Time passes by quickly.

I remember, two months ago

when you came to Yekou.

You’re still the same.

Why did you refuse to go to Tuozhou?

No, I didn’t.

Shen Man Qing and Yin Chang Ge can deal with

Scorpion Lady.

But, Tuozhou’s situation is unclear.

If entering Tuozhou,

would she be in trouble?

Did she return the painting?

We don’t know anything.

You’re worried about her?

No, I’m not.

Why don’t you worry about me?

Don’t talk nonsense,

because I’m going along with you.

As long as I can hand you to Wen Si Yuan alive,

even if you lose a limb or a leg, my mission is completed as well.

You’re still that bad-tempered.

Why don’t you answer me? Are you mad?

You’re mad for real?

[Yekou] Don’t be mad.

I agreed with Shen Man Qing to Tuozhou.

Okay.

Let’s go to Tuozhou.

[Yekou]

Let’s go.

Commander.

We did discover something.

[Duke Jing An’s Mansion. To Miss Yan Qing]

[Dear Sister Yan Qing, it has been years since we met outside the Great Wall...]

Commander,

Duke Jing An just left his mansion.

[Duke Jing An’s Mansion]

Miss!

Miss!

Miss!

What’s wrong? Why are you so flustered?

That official is here again.

Which one?

Shen San Zhang, Commander Shen.

Bring me my cape.

Yes.

Bring along my brother’s offerings.

Yes.

[Protect the border and the people]

Commander Shen.

Miss Yan Qing.

It’s our residence’s day of mourning.

My father is training the army at the martial arts arena.

Commander Shen, if you need him,

you can head there.

I’m here

not to meet Duke Yan.

The Painting of Splendid Landscape was recovered.

I felt relieved for you.

But, I don’t know the reason

for the disappearance,

hence I have no idea how to report to His Majesty.

Miss Yan, please tell me in detail about it.

Last night,

I received a confidential letter.

I was shocked by it.

Miss Yan Qing, you frequently contacted traitor Duan Yan.

Not only you exchanged letters with him,

you even pledged to marry him without your parents’ consent.

Nonsense!

Miss Yan.

Those who committed treason

will be beheaded.

Duan Yan and I

knew each other outside the Great Wall,

when we were young.

But I was young back then.

How would I pledge to marry him secretly?

Since you’ve admitted that you knew him,

according to the rules, you have to come with me.

Today is my brother’s death anniversary.

It’s time

for me to go and offer sacrifices now.

Lord,

please make way.

[Dear sister Yan Qing, it has been years since we met outside the Great Wall...]

Miss Yan, you do know what this is.

Miss Yan,

why are you so enraged?

Why is

this letter in your hands?

Were you spying on

our residence silently?

If that’s the case,

you should know clearly

we won’t allow thieves

to steal The Painting of Splendid Landscape

nor commit treason.

Miss Yan,

it’s useless even if I trust you.

If you come with me now,

you will be treated justly.

Your father was just pardoned.

You won’t want him

to run into trouble again, right?

You...

Father.

Everyone, leave.

Tian Er.

Miss.

I can’t go and visit my brother.

[For my brother, Yan Zhi]

Bring the offerings to him on my behalf.

Miss,

it’s snowing.

Are those Duke Jing An’s troops?

No,

they must be from the prefecture’s yamen.

You’re finally here!

Master!

Great!

Great.

You’re still alive.

I thought you had abandoned me.

Why was the lockdown issued?

Where is Shen Man Qing?

She isn’t back yet.

We don’t know the situation in the city.

She told us to wait till noon.

It’s almost time.

Actually, it’s not hard to enter through the walls.

But if we enter and leave,

we have to kill a few men.

It will alert the enemy.

So, we chose to wait here.

Chang Ge.

Senior!

How are you?

I’m fine.

What about you?

We’re good.

The Painting of Splendid Landscape was returned.

Duke Jing An should be fine.

But, when I entered the city,

I hurt a few soldiers

and made them suspicious.

Now, the city is heavily guarded.

We shouldn’t stay for long.

Chief Wen should be on the way.

Let’s welcome him.

Let’s go then.

What happened in the Duke’s mansion today?

When I passed by the Duke’s mansion,

I saw a team of yamen runners

bringing away a girl.

What does she look like?

Around 17 or 18 years old.

There was a white flower on her head.

White flower?

Did someone die in the Duke’s mansion last night?

But, there were no abnormalities inside and outside the Duke’s mansion.

I think it should be someone’s death anniversary.

Master.

What’s wrong?

Nothing.

Master,

we should return to the valley to your master.

No.

I need to enter the city.

You can return.

Yun.

Flying Bandit,

help me enter the city.

Master.

Can we

talk in private?

Do you remember the acupuncture skills that I taught you?

But...

My life

is in your hands.

I...

Doctor Zuo is not clear-headed now.

Why are you...

Return to the Zhong Jing first.

After meeting Wen Si Yuan,

ask him to wait for me at the Shan Shui Du Fraction.

Are you crazy?

Why didn’t you listen to him

previously,

but is doing what he asks now?

The city is heavily guarded.

Can you leave after entering now?

He’s hurt.

We should return to Zhong Jing now.

Staying here will make it more dangerous for him.

Are you insisting on entering the city?

I’ll come along.

Stealing the painting was your mission,

protecting the doctor is my mission.

Since I agreed, I have to do it.

I know the terrain well.

Let’s go together.
