[Love in Between]

[Episode 2]

This is Chiyan Desert.

We have finally arrived.

Flying Bandit should be in front.

Let’s go.

[Chiyan Desert, western border]

Your outfits are too outstanding.

Wait for me here.

[Luo Mu Ye, chancellor of Chiyan Desert]

[Duan Yan, son of Lord Wei Nan]

I think,

it’ll be better if Crown Prince Duan presents the painting

to the Guzi clan yourself.

Why come to Chiyan Desert

for the trouble?

To be honest,

Guzi clan is savage.

Although I have the painting to protect myself,

I wouldn’t pass it up hastily.

I can only ask for your help.

Chiyan Desert always stays out of disputes.

If I get close to Guzi clan with you

and become the enemy of Dasheng,

I may attract troubles.

Prime minister.

Dasheng exterminated the Duan family.

I have no way out.

If you can save my life

and connect me to Guzi clan,

you may have any term.

Besides,

the emperor of Dasheng is useless.

The officers are in power.

They’ll have internal fights soon.

There’s nothing to be afraid of.

When Guzi clan gets the Painting of Splendid Landscape,

it’ll be easy for them to attack the south.

By then,

not to mention this tiny green pearl,

the entire Lidu

will be Chiyan Desert’s territory.

When it comes to rewarding,

since you help me present the painting,

you should get this biggest credit.

Crown Prince Duan is good at doing businesses.

Tomorrow,

I shall report this to the king.

Then I shall

show my gratitude, prime minister.

I have a house in the city.

You may live there for now.

I will send someone to inform you if there’s any update.

Good job, Brother Bandit.

This attire is definitely deceptive.

In the past month, we lived a tough life in the open.

The journey was hard.

We’re sloppy and don’t look like

how we used to be.

Except for you who look just the same.

You must have some secret technique.

It seems, you’re not ready to teach me that.

I was curious about

how you remain your look.

Hence I divined.

Guess what’s the result.

It says you have a kind heart

and unique appearance.

Look down.

There’s a curfew today.

All items can only be transported in,

but not out.

Check thoroughly.

No way. This can’t be brought out.

Come after a few days.

Hurry back.

No way.

Come back after a few days.

No way.

Go back.

Please, officer.

Go back.

Brother Bandit.

The divination also says,

you’re a breathtaking youth and are very gentle.

Sadly, you have too much in mind,

too serious and stubborn.

If you don’t mind,

you may get along with me.

I’m the best at understanding one’s trouble.

[Water Clock Square, Chiyan Desert]

Brother Bandit.

Look at that flower.

It’s quite good.

You’ll surely look good with it.

Do you want to try it on?

Master.

Flying Bandit is a man.

How can he put on flowers?

It’s too crowded here.

Let’s hurry.

You deserve it.

Silly apprentice.

Flowers! Flowers!

Childe, get a bouquet.

It’s beautiful indeed.

But I have no one to give it to.

You may wait for Madam Snow here.

Then present her the flower.

Madam Snow is a beauty.

Who’s Madam Snow?

She’s the most beautiful woman in Chiyan Desert.

The king loves her.

But something happened to her recently.

She must go to Moni Cliff to ask for blessing today.

What happened to Madam Snow?

I don’t know.

My mother didn’t tell me.

Madam Snow is here.

[Snow, Queen of Chiyan Desert]

Chief.

[Arrived in Chiyan Desert]

I got it.

Here isn’t like Zhong Jing.

Everyone, be careful.

Fellow guests.

This way, please.

This way, please.

Please.

Are you here for food or accommodation?

Accommodation.

Four rooms.

Ask money from Young Madam.

Young Madam.

I’m going to look around.

I’m leaving.

Four rooms.

Don’t disturb when it’s unnecessary.

Okay.

Chang Ge.

I’ll be back soon.

Be with the doctor.

What would you like to have?

Your business is so good.

Now that I see the lady boss, I know the reason.

You’re funny.

Lady boss.

You calculated wrongly.

That’s true.

Are you also a businessman?

I’m a doctor.

Just a small business.

That’s why I have to calculate properly.

That’s great.

This is giving me a headache.

I was just about to seek for help.

How can I reject a beauty?

You can actually read the characters of Chiyan Desert.

Could you have been here before?

When I was a child.

No wonder.

I know almost every person here

who came from Zhong Jing.

But I haven’t seen someone like you.

What’s going on?

As a gentleman,

one should read sage books

and be righteous.

Since grand master asked me to follow you,

today

I shall advise you, master.

You shouldn’t learn

to only indulge like Flying Bandit.

Look at what the young warriors of Zhengyang are doing.

They’re having serious businesses.

What about you?

What are you doing?

You’re eating raisins.

Do you want some?

Is it yummy?

Try it.

Have you found out the curfew?

Let’s talk in the room.

Okay.

I heard from the local traders,

Chiyan Desert wants to have goodwill with Guzi clan.

Guzi clan doesn’t usually like us.

Then, we, traders of Zhong Jing,

will have a hard time.

Besides, the crown prince of Zhong Jing

came to Chiyan Desert at this time.

I’m pretty sure, something fishy

is going on.

Rotters. No man is proper.

Eat your food.

The women of Chiyan Desert

are smooth.

Compared with the beauties in Zhong Jing,

they aren’t as good.

Officer.

I got a new concubine lately.

I brought her along.

Why don’t I show her to you?

Okay.

Qing.

Get over here.

Get over here.

Here.

This girl

is of low quality

in Zhong Jing.

This beauty is really...

Officer.

If you like her,

next time I will bring you some beauties

of high quality, okay?

Qing.

Go back to inform master

that I’ll be back after a couple of drinks.

Go.

This girl

is just a little stubborn.

Here, officers.

Here.

Let’s drink.

Here.

Cheers.

-Cheers. -Cheers.

Brother.

Let me give you some advice.

In order to protect

the crown prince of Zhong Jing,

the prime minister started to check on Zhong Jing’s traders.

Don’t be anxious.

Wait until Duan Yan leaves,

it wouldn’t be too late then

for me to help you with your trade.

Here, let’s drink.

Here.

[Scorpion Lady, Three Devils of Snow City]

[Chou Nu Er, Three Devils of Snow City]

[Ghost Boy, Three Devils of Snow City]

Fellow guests.

This way, please.

Fellow guests.

Are you here for food or accommodation?

Where are you taking me, lady boss?

You’ll find out soon.

Don’t people from Zhengyang Palace

greet before entering one’s room?

There’s serious matter ahead,

how can you be out for drinks?

Don’t forget that I’m a thief.

Alright.

The business is the priority.

Let’s gather

the info we collected in the day.

If the news is right,

tomorrow night,

the messenger of Guzi clan will arrive in Chiyan Desert.

There will be a curfew from tomorrow on.

All Zhong Jing people in Chiyan Desert

will be checked strictly.

What about you?

Duan Yan is colluding with the prime minister of Chiyan Desert, Luo Mu Ye.

As Duan Yan arrived in Chiyan Desert,

Luo Mu Ye arranged a private residence

for him to stay.

There are also many guards.

That means the painting

is most probably with him.

Guzi clan works in groups.

They’re cruel and savage.

If we pursue them after they get the painting,

the success rate will be much lower.

It seems we have to work immediately,

to get the painting before they arrive.

But don’t worry.

Before you find out

the topography of Duan Yan’s Mansion,

Chang Ge and I won’t take action recklessly.

I think you should get sober,

and then head to Duan Yan’s Mansion

to prepare to steal the painting.

I can go with you.

No need.

I never need help.

This is serious.

You must listen to my senior.

Wordy.

Don’t reason with a drunk.

[Duan Yan’s Mansion, Chiyan Desert]

There’s patrol here.

It’s impossible to get near the room during the day.

We have to see the prime minister tomorrow.

Take some rest, childe.

Get rest.

Bayberry candy?

You...

Here, here.

Place your bet.

Open it.

Open it.

Confirm your bet.

Chiyan Desert isn’t just lively during the day,

the nightlife here is also wonderful.

That’s right.

The nightlife is real life.

Here, take a seat.

Oh, right.

There were many people out in the day.

Anything big happened?

Madam Snow was out on the street.

Of course, everyone wants to have a look.

Why was Madam Snow out today?

Small prince got an unknown weird disease.

He’s unconscious.

Hence on every lucky day,

Madam will pray at Moni Cliff.

Here, childe.

Here you go.

That’s a big matter.

I heard all the high officials here

show great respect to that madam.

That’s right.

Madam Snow is the favourite of the king.

If Chiyan Desert

doesn’t have the smile of Madam Snow,

it’s like the sky without the sun.

Everyone wants to fawn over her.

Especially Luo Mu Ye,

the fortune-minded prime minister.

If that’s the case,

I’m willing to do anything

just to see Madam Snow once.

You’re so funny.

Not just you,

even your crown prince wants to see her.

But he can’t.

I’m a doctor. I can heal.

So what if he’s the crown prince?

How can he fawn over Madam Snow?

His servants always come to me

to find out about rare treasure from traders,

in order to fawn over Madam Snow.

But Zhong Jing people are really funny.

Good things

can’t be simply obtained.

Besides, Guzi clan is coming.

Curfew is imposed in the city.

Rich traders from Zhong Jing

are almost all gone.

Here, childe.

Try some dessert from the western border.

I heard that

your prime minister is involved as well.

Our prime minister

has pity on the crown prince.

So he had Madam to put in good words to the king,

to help him open the path.

You look interested.

Let’s play a few rounds.

Isn’t the doctor back yet?

He went to gamble.

What did you find out?

Tomorrow noon,

Duan Yan will leave his mansion

to visit Luo Mu Ye.

This is our only chance.

The Painting of Splendid Landscape is in Duan Yan’s room?

Yes.

But the guards are always there.

One can’t get in alone.

Therefore, tomorrow...

You don’t have to go tomorrow.

I will go.

What are you talking about?

Just wait in the inn. Prepare the carriage.

No way.

The painting must be stolen by the three of us.

Duan’s Mansion is heavily guarded.

A single person can’t steal the painting.

I have never failed.

Didn’t you fail

in Xiaozong Mansion?

If all the clans

find out the deal between you and Wen Si Yuan,

what would they think?

It’s okay if you don’t trust me,

yet you’re threatening me.

This is a risky matter.

Senior ignored the rules to work with you,

why are you saying so much?

If you want to sacrifice your lives,

I won’t stop you.

But those three guards of Duan Yan

aren’t insignificant.

I’m just a thief.

My life is worth nothing.

You two are from a famous clan.

It’s a waste if you die

in the hands of devils.

Who are those three guards you mentioned?

I don’t know

if you have heard about Three Devils of Snow City?

These three devils

blended in around Snow City.

They gained extreme notoriety outside the pass.

Duan Yan hired them with money.

Three Devils are good at martial arts.

The leader, Ghost Boy, is even more formidable.

He massacred Cui family in Hexi alone.

You two surely aren’t afraid,

but I am.

I get it.

Tell us about your plan.

With Three Devils’ martial art,

if they appear together,

we can never be their match.

Only by trying to make them work separately,

may we be able to get the painting.

Duan Yan will visit Luo Mu Ye tomorrow.

Three Devils will surely protect him closely.

Only one person will stay back to guard Duan’s Mansion.

Look.

Duan’s Mansion is 10 miles away from Luo Mu Ye’s mansion.

With a horse cart,

about an hour will be needed for a return journey.

Duan’s Mansion is heavily guarded.

Duan Yan’s room is in the middle.

Traveling on the roof isn’t convenient.

I will impose as a servant

and enter from the sidewall.

It’ll take at least 30 minutes.

We don’t know where the painting is hidden.

But there will surely be a privacy lock.

In order to unlock it,

at least 15 minutes is needed.

Once we steal the painting,

we need 15 minutes

to flee to safety.

A total of an hour.

Duan Yan is visiting Luo Mu Ye.

He won’t leave as soon as he arrives.

So we still have a chance.

But there’s always an accident.

Speak up.

What do you want me and Chang Ge do?

Here, place your bet.

Place your bet.

Bet on small.

Okay, small.

The lesser you bet, the lesser you win.

Small!

Small!

Confirm your bet.

Do you believe I’ll bet on Water Dragon?

No.

How would it be so easy?

That’s right.

Let me open this.

Who are you?

Rascal, who are you?

Yes. Who are you?

Who do you think you are?

Who are you?

Where did this rascal come from?

Do you know the rules?

Lady boss.

This is my brother.

Since you’re his brother,

I will respect you.

It’s really Water Dragon.

Not bad.

It’s really Water Dragon.

Come on.

Don’t spoil your mood.

Carry on.

Gamble with me.

With alcohol?

Big or small?

Small.

Big or small?

Big.

Who are you?

Zuo Qing Ci.

What’s your relationship with Wen Si Yuan?

He’s just one of my employers.

He wouldn’t ask me to

protect a doctor without reasons.

Well, I don’t know.

I’m just a businessman.

Four times one.

Starry Sky.

Do you know

what this is called at our place?

Escaping via a backdoor.

How much did Wen Si Yuan give you?

What a joke.

You use superior silver acupuncture needles.

Even the writing brush you use for prescriptions is rare.

That alone costs more than 200 taels.

You care so much about me.

Could you be...

Save your dirty thoughts.

Leave the city tomorrow morning.

Wait 10 miles away from the west city gate.

We can’t take care of you.

You want to take action soon?

Don’t be anxious.

I haven’t even seen the beauty of Madam Snow.

When you see a pigeon,

I’m waiting for you.

Small!

Bet on small.

I bet on big.

Confirm your bet.

-Small! -Big!

Small!

Open it!

Master.

Were you gambling with the thief?

You didn’t lose our traveling expenses, right?

Okay, hold on.

I will keep watching in front of Duan Yan’s Mansion.

I’ll take action.
