Cherry blossoms have just become an excuse for a party.

People have done this for the last few hundred years, since the Edo period.

Before that, the trees were considered horrifying.

Imagine being the only one underneath the blossoming cherry trees.

Travelers made detours, going out of their way to avoid the flowering trees.

Well trodden paths formed far from the cherry trees.
