[The Flaming Heart]

[Episode 22]

Why did you ask me to come in such a hurry?

I got things on my hands.

What things are so important

that you couldn't spare a little time for our friendship?

Tell you what.

Business is a fast-shifting game.

The cooperation between us.

Shouldn't it be proceeding?

The thing I heard

is that you haven't gotten

the GMP authentication.

Who told you that?

Things are going through the process.

You know the drill.

The process is nothing but a rigmarole.

That's no GMP authentication to me.

Think about it.

You don't have GMP authentication.

No experience in large-scale production.

Our family would have to anchor it.

Isn't profit-sharing

the thing we should re-discuss?

Sir!

Come in.

Chief Huo, you asked for me?

The station

has decided that you'll be the chief's assistant.

After the tests from Fire and Rescue Academy

and graduation,

you'll be the next deputy chief.

What?

The chief's assistant?

What's wrong? Not good enough?

Brother Yan.

Speak your mind.

Why me?

Why you?

Because you're at the top

of the list regarding the number of rescues

and performance at our station.

Name me a better person.

Am I not the notorious

wuss of Dongshan Station?

And it's me getting the spot.

Although you always complain

it's hard and tiring,

you never wuss out when it comes to rescuing.

You may look like

you like to wangle things out.

But the rescues you put out are methodical.

Without the data analysis of our station,

you could have fooled me.

Brother Yan.

Is it because Jiang Tong came to you?

I flunked the simulated test.

Wang Da Yin.

This has nothing to do with other people

besides your performance.

The person we need is

a person with the ability to

combine practice and theory.

And you are the one

doing very well in practice.

But I'm not ready for the responsibility.

I'm good being just a squad leader,

leading the squad to charge.

I need a reason good enough to convince me.

I know that a soldier refusing to be a general

is definitely not a good soldier.

I'm not a good soldier myself anyway.

Maybe I just don't have the ability.

Besides, I don't want Jiang Tong

to see me fail in the future.

Think it over again.

Dismiss.

Out.

Wisenheimer.

So that's the thing on your mind.

What a latent surprise.

Then let's hear it.

How do you think fit?

More 10% to me.

Then we seal the deal.

No hurry, take your time to think about it.

Why the grumpy face all day?

Right?

Wanna hear a joke?

What do you think?

Okay then.

It's said,

one day,

a centipede was giving birth.

The midwife was shouting,

"You're doing great!

One leg is coming out! The other one as well! And another one!

One leg is coming out! The other one as well! And another one!

One leg is coming out! The other one as well..."

So rigid.

[To strictly adhere to the Party's loyalty and discipline.]

[Wander the fire for the people we care.]

[Honor Room]

Go ahead, he's waiting for you inside.

Da Yin.

♪Beneath the purple mountain on the Yangtze River♪

Captain Chen.

You... you're back?

I have two stories to tell.

Interested?

Yes.

[Jiangning District]

Back when I first became a firefighter,

these were the uniforms.

These...

I had a chum named Zheng Chong

who had joined the army after

graduation and was assigned to here with me.

We were at the front line of flood fighting in 1998.

We literally

had to use our bodies as

a dam to hold back the water.

That time,

I remember a fellow was floundering in the current.

To rescue him, Zheng Chong jumped

right into the water

without a second thought.

The man was saved,

but he was not.

He was only at the age of 22.

Later, we asked

his father

if there was anything we can do.

His father said that

the kid had just graduated

and asked if it's okay for him to keep half of his son's ashes.

That way, he can leave

half of him to the country

and the other half of him

can stay home with his father.

Have you seen this before?

This is the old breathing apparatus.

Every time I look at it,

it reminds me of my old captain,

Huo Qing Song.

It was a chemical plant explosion.

To save a child embroiled

because of having fun

around the plant,

he sacrificed his life.

We found out later

that in order to protect the kid,

he gave the hope of life to her,

resulting in death

by inhaling a large amount of smoke.

Things would've been

so much different present day.

You know why?

Because the breathing apparatus we use today

is equipped with an extra valve.

That way,

we can share the air

with the people

we're saving, right?

Yes.

Yes.

Right here.

In this room,

my captain, my teammate,

and the people I once taught

are all here.

They are like family to me.

Tell me,

what did they

do all of this for?

Do you not know or just don't want to say?

Well, let me tell you.

For this.

[China Fire and Rescue] Do you know it?

Yes.

No, you don't!

Take a good look at it.

It's more than just a banner.

It's the trust the people put on it

that makes it what it is.

Loyal to the party, strict to the discipline.

The fire we wander, for the people we care.

It's easy to say with just a few words.

It's so much harder to exercise!

It requires you to stand firm in your ground.

It requires you to be well-drilled.

It also pushes you to never stop being better,

to learn,

to constantly learn new stuff.

Stuff like new equipment.

Wang Da Yin, do you truly understand?

I do.

You do?

You don't.

The things you do now

are not for Jiang Tong,

nor the loving antics

between you two.

You have to earn the trust of your teammates.

You have to earn the trust of the people.

The least thing you can do

is to make it worth it,

the things,

the deceased heroes died for us. You understand?

Fight like a man.

Or else,

get lost.

Come back!

You really want to get lost, huh?

[China Fire and Rescue]

Senior.

Coming back during vacation? Working hard.

Have things to attend to.

How's your thesis

coming along?

Bajie.

Didn't have any water?

No, he didn't.

Impressive.

No kidding.

Fully committed.

Sitting there for the whole three hours, being as still as a statue.

That's harder than me at the gym.

You indeed didn't move when you're at the gym.

What's your deal?

Found it, Mr. Han.

Get the man here.

Yes, sir.

I have something important

for someone I love.

Snap! Me too.

Don't you have an e-bike?

You'll be looking sassy wearing it with a pose.

You can wear these glasses

when playing with your drone.

It's...

About that...

I sold it for your helmet.

So...

Actually,

I sold my bike too.

For these glasses.

For real?

How stupid are we?

That's why we're meant to be together.

Am I right?

The things you like are the things I like.

What I like most is

the time we spent at the station.

See?

Just having a picnic here.

Things are in order nevertheless.

My dad has always

wanted me in the brigade though.

Saying it's a better place for a girl and

I can play a bigger part in there.

Your dad is right.

You being there

superintending the works

contributes to the research of fire prevention technology.

You said it yourself.

You'll be putting use

advanced technologies

to help us on the front line for us

so that we can return

safe and sound from the flame.

Go.

Go to realize your dream.

Whether I pass the exam or not,

for you,

I'll keep running to the future of us.

It's my turn to protect you.

To keep the way you are.

Yes.

Things are under examination.

Won't take long for the result.

I'll brief you in person.

Hello, everyone.

This is the report of this apartment,

showing that it has excessive emission of formaldehyde.

It was reported

that the tenants of this apartment

had blatantly reported the developer

the Han's Group for using poor quality paint

and has caused the sickness and

hospitalization of several tenants.

[Jiangling News] A qualified report was provided

by the Han's Group afterward.

So there are two reports.

Which one reflects the real situation?

Boss.

Speak.

Couldn't find Director Li.

Not at home or the drug testing center.

Go to the center and ask

if there is something missing recently.

Yes.

You!

Bring that girl to me

within 24 hours.

Yes.

Move now!

[Test Instrument Operating Procedures]

Hello, Huo Yan.

How's the test result?

Come meet me first.

Okay.

Speak.

Boss, two vials are missing.

You force my hand.

The result is out now.

And it's solid evidence.

Bring it to the police.

Han Pei can't get away with it.

Okay, wait for me.

Be careful.

I'll be waiting for you.

[Police] (What's weird is that)

(in this anonymous report,)

(there is a copy of the written testimony)

(of the fire at a chemical plant in 1997.)

(According to the staff)

(of the chemical plant,)

(the fire was the result)

(of his mishandling)

(and were not relevant to group leaders.)

(He was willing to take full responsibility.)

[Police Station] (We have no way to support)

(the authenticity of this statement at yet.)

(We will continue to)

(follow up on the incident.)

The thief exclaims to catch the thief to divert the tiger from the mountain.

This is a common trick for the Han's Group.

So

those who work with him would be vigilant

and would even help him escape.

So long as he is off the hook,

the others will be safe.

But this should not be

Han Pei's biggest problem.

Believe me.

No matter what kind of tricks Han Pei might play,

we will catch him.

Thank you, Wang.

We'll stay in touch.

That's my job.

Here comes Mr. Luo. Mr. Luo is here.

Please be patient.

May I ask one question, Mr. Luo?

May I ask a few questions?

Friends of the press,

please be quiet, everyone.

Why didn't you let Chairperson Luo

be interviewed by us?

My father had other important things to do.

Luo's Pharmaceuticals

will be my sole responsibility.

Mr. Luo.

Report on the Internet says that

Director Li of the Clinical Laboratory Center

accepted the bribe.

The lab data for

the new anti-tumor medicine

PD-1, developed by the Han's Group

who you work with,

is a risk of forgery.

How do you explain it?

Excuse me.

Our company has never been involved

in the development and

clinical trials of PD-1.

And before there is conclusive evidence,

there is no reason to

doubt our partner.

Please don't believe or spread rumors.

Thank you.

Information says that

the cooperation is nothing

but a stalking horse.

Han's Group had never

been authorized

a GMP certificate.

You're just using your own pharmaceutical

factory for the production.

How do you explain this?

The cooperation between Luo's Pharmaceuticals and Han's Group

is based on the common interests of both parties.

Particular ways of collaborating

are confidential for now.

But there is one thing I can guarantee.

Luo's Pharmaceuticals will not do

anything violating laws and disciplines.

That is also the bottom line of my father

for all these years.

Thank you.

So why Director Li

and Han Pei are missing?

Can you explain?

I'm sorry, there is no comment on that question.

Mr. Luo.

Can you answer our questions directly?

Please stay back.

Please cooperate with our work. Thank you.

Yan Lan.

What's going on there?

She is now in a particularly good state.

What are you doing there?

Where is Yan Lan?

Huo Yan, Huo Yan, don't mind me.

Protect yourself.

Yan Lan, where are you?

What happened?

Don't worry.

I just picked her up to be a guest.

Just so you know,

you should be more careful yourself.

Han Pei, I warn you.

If something happens to Yan Lan,

things will not end well for you.

Huo Yan.

You know what?

You've become more stupid.

You only kept talking about

justice in the past.

And now, you

want justice

and also the woman.

Aren't you tired?

Han Pei.

I advise you

to pull back before it's too late.

Otherwise...

Han Pei?

Yan Lan is caught.

By Han Pei.

Do you know the person I hate the most?

Hypocrite.

Those yapping about

justice and fairness

are the most hypocritical.

And your beloved Huo Yan

happens to be that kind of person.

Hard did I fathom.

How did you fall in love with a man like him?

What makes you think you can say that he's hypocritical?

He can risk his life to get someone

he doesn't know out of the fire.

Can you do it?

You see things the dark way.

Don't think of us

the same as you.

You're right.

I see things the dark way.

I'm just the selfish kind.

And I think

we should all be more selfish

so that our society

can develop in a healthier way.

People nowadays will just

break the rule

just for some illusory purposes.

With things going like this,

you and Huo Yan

will be sacrificed

by this kind of rule.

It's not too late to turn back.

You're the one who should turn back.

Look at yourself.

A dressed-up loser.

Things you do privately

are despicable and disgusting.

You make me sick.

You know nothing about the world of men.

You pervert.

You got that right.

Help!

Help!

Help!

[Police]

Nothing, Captain.

Sir.

No trace of Han Pei was found.

He got away?

Huo Yan.

By now,

you should have found this place.

How do you think?

Feeling disappointing I guess?

The woman you love is in my hand.

And there is nothing you can do.

What a pity.

I can't see

your face right now.

But it doesn't matter.

I left you with a chance to find me.

And a chance for me

to make up for this regret.

The place under your feet

is my most favorite project.

Not one of!

At the beginning of its design,

I left a secret passage.

And that's why even though

there were so many people complaining

about me, wanting to crush me,

yet the police couldn't

find any evidence.

And that's also why

so many dignitaries liked to

have fun in this place.

And now the game has begun.

As long as you can find that secret passage,

it will lead you to me,

to Yan Lan.

I'll wait for you.

Go search again!

Search it through!

Rest assured, Chief Huo.

His two henchmen have been caught.

We will interrogate them now.

Who is this?

Mr. Luo Junior.

What're you up to?

A different number again.

Dude.

Do you know

the press is on my tail?

Where are you?

Mr. Luo Junior.

I need you to do two things for me now.

Sure. Tell me.

The first thing is

to help me prepare some fireworks.

The second is...

Forget it.

Looks like the second one...

Yan Lan just helped you do it.

What?

You got Yan Lan?

Listen to me, Han Pei.

I don't even know what I'm capable of.

I need to know Yan Lan is safe.

Huo Yan is my only target.

Yan Lan will be safe

so long as Huo Yan doesn't mess around.

Fine.

You have my words.

What's this thing you can't say on the phone?

Ham Pei is getting suspicious.

I was afraid the phone is being monitored.

Yan Lan has been kidnapped by Han Pei.

I know.

Her safety is also my biggest concern.

We split up.

Keep each other noticed.

Okay, stay in touch.

Police will also notify us

if they have any clues.

Huo Yan, stay safe.

You too.

[Tips for Fire Safety]

In case of fire, a quick escape is required.

However, taking the elevator is certainly not a good idea.

When there is a fire,

electrical wiring inside the building is extremely vulnerable.

If the fire is caused by electrical appliances,

power supplies need to be cut off before extinguishing the fire.

Thus, the elevator which is usually convenient

cannot guarantee

a normal operation during a fire.

If you take the elevator during a fire,

you might be trapped inside it.

Remember the fire escape tips.

Stay calm and conduct an orderly evacuation.

Stay bent and crawl on the floor to protect yourself.

Take the stairs instead of elevators.
