Episode 33

Come on.

Let’s go.

-Where is it? -This way.

How do you like it?

The view is pretty nice.

He Qunfei.

It is pretty expensive here, isn’t it?

Of course.

How come a stingy person like you spend so much money?

Who is stingy?

I’m not.

You’re not stingy to Siqi,

but you’re stingy to me.

Well...

Let’s choose another place, shall we?

Why? Just stay here!

Siqi.

Du Xiaosu. Come on. Listen to me.

Let’s go.

Mr. Lei. Have a date?

Mr. Lei.

I take the day off.

I take Xiaosu and Siqi out for dinner.

Take your time.

Let’s choose another place.

Just stay here.

Siqi.

Mr. Lei. Why don’t we have dinner together?

It’s been so difficult to meet you.

You don’t mind it, right?

Since you’re here, let’s have dinner together.

Come on.

Waiter.

More settings please.

Sit still.

Miss Xu.

Nice to meet you.

I am Zou Siqi, a journalist of White Goose Website,

namely the journalist of entertainment news.

Miss Zou turns out to be a journalist of entertainment news.

No wonder you’re so sharp.

It seems Miss Xu has a bias against us.

How is it possible?

We’re closely related,

and mutually dependent.

Right.

Miss Zou.

The date like today

is very different

to you, isn’t it?

It depends on what kind of date it is.

The date with friends

can’t make the headline for sure.

How about the date between lovers?

It is said your relationship abroad

is not going well.

Are you coming back this time for comfort?

Mr. Lei. Miss Xu.

I’m sorry to interrupt you.

Sorry.

Well...

Mr. Lei. We’ll leave.

Mr. Lei.

There is something I would like to say.

Go ahead.

Miss Xu is your friend.

Xiaosu is also your friend.

I don’t know what Miss Xu has in her mind.

But I know what Xiaosu has in her mind.

And you know it.

I believe you know

what to do exactly.

Goodbye.

Siqi.

Look at yourself.

What do you want me to say about you?

Du Xiaosu.

Do you have a conscience?

I was just taking it out for you!

You’re blaming me now...

You’re mistaking a good person for a bad one!

I know you did it for me.

But you were talking with Xu You like that.

It really made all of us very embarrassed.

Let’s stop fighting!

I know there is a

very good Korean barbecue restaurant just ahead.

Let’s go there.

I’ll leave you two.

I’ll go back home.

Du Xiaosu.

Siqi.

Stop calling me.

There are so many good restaurants.

You just choose this one.

It’s disappointing.

Why is it my fault?

She’s already far away. Stop looking.

I finally understand

why you treat me to dinner and send me flowers.

Are you using me as a shield?

What?

Listen.

There is something different between you and Du Xiaosu.

Are you having a fight?

You made her jealous on purpose.

You want me to make this show with you, right?

I ask you out today

not to make a show with me.

There’s something to do next.

It could be dangerous.

I don’t know whether you wanna get involved.

Fine.

You still have the conscience.

But I’m really curious

what kind of danger

you are concerned about.

I’ve decided to stay

out of curiosity.

I wanna witness this life-and-death play.

Xiaosu. Xiaosu. Xiaosu.

Don’t be mad.

It’s all He Qunfei’s fault.

What an awful place for dinner!

Fine.

I was speaking without thinking.

I was talking nonsense.

Don’t be mad at me, please.

I’m a little bit tired.

I’ll take a shower.

Xiaosu.

The date like today

is very different

to you, isn’t it?

How about the date between lovers?

I’m sorry to interrupt you.

Sorry.

Lin Xiangyuan.

Even if you go to the ends of the earth,

I won’t let go of you.

Lin Xiangyuan.

You are shameless.

I finally see you through.

I will kill you!

Lin Xiangyuan.

Behave yourself and cooperate with me.

Or else I’ll ruin you

and make you lose everything.

Fanlu.

Fanlu.

Why do you stay up so late? What’re you doing?

Come on. Let’s go back to sleep.

If people are gone,

they will have no worries, right?

Fanlu.

It’s already middle of the night. What are you thinking about?

Are you feeling sick?

I am sick.

If I had not been ill, I would not have been unable to sleep.

What’s the point of living

if people can’t fall asleep?

Jiang Fanlu.

Stop being like this.

I’m begging you. Leave me alone, will you?

You’re finally speaking your mind!

In your mind,

I am a troublemaker.

I’m sorry.

I didn’t mean it.

Yes, you did!

Fanlu.

Let’s not fight.

Let’s live a good life, shall we?

Fanlu.

It was all my fault before.

Let’s forget the past

and start all over again.

I’ll be nice to you!

It’s too late.

No, it’s not late at all.

Let’s go abroad.

Bali, Chiang Mai, Dubai.

Let’s find a place where nobody knows us

and start all over again.

Fanlu.

What’re you doing?

Take your time.

Fanlu.

Fanlu.

Wait a minute.

What’s wrong with her recently?

I have no idea.

She’s been like this lately.

She’s always like she can’t have enough to eat.

Except for overeating,

she’s been often alone in the small living room,

talking to herself, or staring blankly without talking.

Sometimes she spoke to herself in the mirror.

It’s creepy.

Mr. Lin.

According to what you’ve described,

we have reason to suspect

your wife is suffering from depression.

Is there any way out?

Depression is

a kind of mental illness that mainly causes a persistent feeling of sadness.

Patients are usually depressed, sad, and inferior.

She might suffer a loss or even be deprived of

her interests in life.

Serious patients will become

pessimistic and desperate.

So in normal times families have to keep her company as much as possible.

In the daily life, you have to keep an eye on her.

Or...

Or what?

Of course.

I’m referring to the patients with severe depression.

They might commit suicide.

Fanlu. It’s a nice day today.

Let’s go out for a walk.

No.

Fine. Call if off then.

I’m just sitting here. Let’s have a talk.

Go ahead by yourself.

Where are you going?

Do I need your permission

to go back to my own room?

I didn’t mean it.

Miss Jiang. Let me accompany you back.

By the way.

Let me introduce you

the new nanny.

Mrs. Wang.

Aren’t there already two nannies at home?

You don’t like that nanny, right?

I fired her.

Mrs. Wang

is specially for you to talk with.

She’s keeping an eye on me, isn’t she?

Don’t say that.

You’re always alone at home every day.

There has to be someone to talk with you.

Let her go. I don’t need it.

Come on. Please?

I’m usually busy working in the company.

I’m worried about you being alone here all the time.

Miss Jiang. I won’t bother you.

I’ll show up only when you need me.

Mrs. Wang.

My wife is not feeling very well recently.

Please take good care of her.

Ok. Sir.

Shangguan has been looking for Wang Mian for many days,

but still has no clue.

There is one person.

You can give it a try.

Who is it?

Xie Li.

Xie Li?

Lin Xiangyuan is the cause of this event.

But according to the current situation,

his initial purpose

may be to make some money.

Probably he himself hasn’t expected that

things are going like this.

So

when he was doing the whole thing,

there must be flaws.

And Xie Li

is one of them.

He had been following Lin Xiangyuan every day.

Whatever Lin Xiangyuan has done,

there’s no way he has no idea.

If anything, Lin Xiangyuan is scared of me.

Xie Li hates me.

Why?

He used to work for Yutian.

He’s greedy.

He had some financial problems with the movie invested by Yutian.

invested by Yutian.

So he had to leave.

After that he has been following Lin Xiangyuan.

Perhaps he has always held a grudge against it.

On the other hand,

as he was greedy,

he would buy the shares of Yutian

behind Lin Xiangyuan’s back.

If Lin Xiangyuan didn’t know about it,

others behind the scenes won’t know about it either.

I believe

they didn’t fix this flaw in time.

The premise is

whether he knew about the cooperation between Yutian and S.G.

If Lin Xiangyuan was aware of it,

then he must know it.

I assume he was the one to go for Li Lu.

If so,

leave it to me.

I’ll get to the bottom of them.

No.

To deal with a shameless man like Xie Li,

there must be a person more shameless than him.

Leave it to Shangguan.

That day I asked Xu You to dinner

Du Xiaosu saw it.

Du Xiaosu?

What’s going on?

I’m worried I might’ve really hurt her.

But that’s fine.

For her safety.

You have to cut the tie with her for now.

If there is no better way,

I can only let her misunderstand me for now.

Chairman. Something’s wrong!

What’s going on?

What happened? Why are you in such a panic?

Watch the news.

Mr. Lin. Have you watched the news?

What news?

Someone is going to take over Yutian.

What’s great about that?

I...I have heard it’s the overseas fund company.

Do you want me to ask someone?

Not necessary.

Mind your own business.

Mr. Lin. You seem to have known this.

It is news,

so people with phones will know it.

Why make the fuss about it?

Now that Yutian is going to be taken over,

it’s useless for Lei Yuzheng to come back.

Then we can...

If Yutian is taken over,

you’ll lose your job.

Don’t be cheerful all day long.

If Yutian is taken over,

no one will come to a good end.

(Jiang Jin)

Go out, please.

Mr. Lin. There’s one more thing.

Go out. We’ll talk about it later.

Do you know that

Hengshan Fund overseas

is going to take over our Yutian?

Really?

Ok. I’ll be there.

It is said that Hengshan Fund had

already acquired 5% of the shares of Yutian.

As for Yutian,

there was no response yet.

Our reporters will continue to follow.

Come to the next. We’ll...

I didn’t expect they made the move so soon.

It is obvious that

they’ve already known that we’ve started our investigation.

They’re afraid out results will mess things up.

More importantly,

they’re going to cover their criminal acts.

So they made the move in advance.

I know. I’m trying to figure it out.

That’ll be all for now.

If there is anything, I’ll let you know at once.

Mr. Jiang. So much has happened.

Why don’t you call me?

Mr. Fang.

I was just aware of it.

You’re the chairman of Yutian. You have to make the decision.

We all depend on you.

I know. Take it easy.

How can I take it easy?

I’ve heard that Hengshan Fund is quite powerful,

and aggressive.

I’m afraid our Yutian might be acquired.

And if worse comes to worst,

get Lei Yuzheng back.

That guy is capable.

Ok. I get it.

Yuzheng.

This time Yutian is really in trouble.

I’ve already known it, Uncle Jiang.

I’m here to discuss this with you.

Do you have any idea?

I think first of all

we have to hold a press conference

to keep the media in control.

Second,

we have to restore the confidence of the market in Yutian.

We have to tell them that Yutian is in order.

Great. Great.

Why hasn’t he come yet?

May I ask how Yutian is gonna

respond to the takeover?

Are you going to accept it or fight against it?

Well...

Everyone. First of all. Thank you very much

for your attention to Yutian.

We’ve just received the invitation of the acquisition.

As to how to deal with it,

we have to wait for the decision made by

the Board of Directors and interim general meeting of stockholders.

I’ll keep you up to date

the first time with any news.

Hengshan Fund is the top private equity fund.

Being confronted with such a powerful opponent,

doesn’t Yutian have any solutions?

Takeover or anti-takeover

are both common commercial behaviors in the capitalist market.

I don’t think we need make a fuss

because of the takeover.

As to the solutions,

I believe any listed company

has corresponding solutions to this kind of situation.

Mr. Jiang.

As the chairman of a listed company,

what is your attitude?

Individually,

Are you in favor of the takeover or against it?

Mr. Jiang.

Excuse me. Please be quiet.

Mr. Jiang can’t

answer your question just now.

I think you probably have no idea that

for an important solution like this,

the final decision will be made

by the general meeting of shareholders,

instead of Board of Directors.

So I hope everyone can look forward to

our next decision.

All right. Mr. Jiang.

That’s the end of our today’s press conference.

Thank you all for coming.

Excuse me. Thank you. Thank you.

Mr. Jiang. Mr. Jiang.

One more question. Mr. Jiang.

Have a cup of coffee.

Have been busy for so many days.

Finally the market is closed.

I can take a break.

You have done a great job recently.

It’s far from that.

I worked in finance industry and

have already been used to this kind of life.

I didn’t expect you

to be so calm

when being confronted with a formidable enemy,

and spend the day sunbathing with me.

What do I have to be afraid of?

I have you

by my side to help me.

Don’t flatter me.

Hengshan Fund is tough.

I may not be their opponent.

In order to cover the truth,

on the one hand they stop us from the investigation,

on the other hand, they make use of the acquisition

to divert people’s attention.

The purpose is still to stop our investigation.

I just want them to know.

No matter whether they take over or not,

I won’t stop the investigation.

But I have no idea

where to start?

What?

We’ve got Li Lu.

Wang Mian. Don’t worry.

I’ve come here alone.

Nobody is following me.

Thank you for saving me last time.

I’m afraid you ask me out this time

not to thank me.

I know where Li Lu is.

Where is he?

In his hometown.

Guizhou?

Yes.

Are you still in contact now?

After he went back to his hometown,

in the first few months, I could still reach him.

But a few months later,

I can’t reach him either.

Besides, the call was answered by someone else.

I think he has already changed his number.

He changed his number?

Yes.

So

Li Lu went back to his hometown.

It looks like this.

But not for certain.

Maybe he went somewhere else.

What do you mean?

Siyang.

Tomorrow you go to the shopping mall

and buy two clothes which are exactly the same,

and one international flight ticket.

Xiao Zhang.

Book me an international flight ticket tomorrow.

Tell me after it’s done.

And tell the driver to pick me up from my home.

What did you say?

Lei Yuzheng is going abroad?

You wanna pretend to go abroad?

What else can I do? Someone is watching us.

I have to play a trick.

It is true.

I heard that he asked Xiao Zhang in the office

to book him the ticket.

Why does he go abroad at this moment?

Is he going to visit famous S.G?

He might be.

Lin Dun from S.G is his classmate in Stanford.

Then what should we do?

Let me figure it out.

Follow the car.

Wish you a nice trip, Mr. Lei.

Thank you.

You’re welcome.

Hello.

Can I change the ticket

of Flight 987 here?

Yes. Would you like to change it?

No. I’ll wait.

Thank you.

(Shanghai Specialty)

(Lei is in international departure.)

(Don’t leave and keep an eye on it.)

Mr. Lei. Is everything going well?

Yes, it is.

How about Siyang?

(Liu Siyang: Everything’s ok. Boarding now.)

Siyang said everything is going well. He is boarding.

Let’s go.

Mr. Lei. Where are we going?

Guizhou.

Ok.

Let’s go.

Du Xiaosu.

Why are you here?

You were not back home all night. Am I not worried?

You worked too hard.

I’ve just realized now

how good working is.

Money sometimes is really more important than love.

It you put efforts into making money, you’ll have it.

But love...

Giving doesn’t always get paid back.

Pay back?

What?

Du Xiaosu.

What am I to you?

My bestie.

I’m your good listener.

So there can’t be anything

in your mind, right?

Tell me everything you’re upset about.

I am all ears.

What are you talking about?

I’m quite busy now.

I don’t have time to spill out the troubles.

If you don’t have anything else,

just go back.

Thank you for dropping in.

Let’s go.

Look at your black eyes.

I am busy.

Is this for work?

Isn’t it for him?

(Entertainment Express. Lei Yuzheng.)

It’s been revised.

Fine. Even if it is.

How about Yutian’s PR?

How about Xu You’s agent?

Why don’t they come out to make the clarification?

Now people all over the world are responding the same.

They are all acquiescing in it.

A clean hand wants no washing.

If every time there is a gossip,

it has to be clarified,

these companies can’t do anything else.

Go ahead. You continue to be stubborn.

I’m asking you one question now.

Did he, Lei Yuzheng, ever contact you?

Did he make a call?

Did he send a message?

If it’s difficult for you to ask, I will ask him.

What are you doing?

Can’t I ask him?

What are you doing?

I have to make it clear.

What? How?

Who am I to Lei Yuzheng?

He has the freedom to contact

with others without my permission.

Don’t you know that?

What happened to you on the island

demonstrated that you fell in love.

I don’t understand.

Why can’t you intervene?

Besides,

it’s not interfering, it’s protecting your right.

Are you really silly?

She’s threatening you now. Are you aware of that?

You’re just sitting here and doing nothing.

Zou Siqi.

Lei Yuzheng and I are grown-ups.

We’ll

work it out.

We’ve been through so much.

And we know each other.

If there is understanding between us,

why do we have to say it?

Fine.

I admit.

Lei Yuzheng is probably really in love with you.

Is he able to cope with the passion of Xu You?

I don’t want to speculate on others.

When you found that Lei Yuzheng and Xu You were together,

your expression had already

told me everything.

My lady.

I really don’t want to talk about it today.

I still have a lot of work to do.

I’m really busy.

I’m also tired.

If there isn’t anything else,

you can go home first.

-Hurry up. Du Xiaosu. -Bye.

I can wish you happy every day.

But the premise is

you have to be really happy.

(Nanny)

Mr. Lin.

Something was wrong!

Please come back!

Nurse! Nurse!

Honey. Everything’s fine.

Hold on!

Nurse!

Everything is gonna be fine.

Nurse!

Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!

Watch out! Watch out!

Come on. Slow down.

The patient’s family members are waiting outside.

Dad.

Dad.

Fanlu is in trouble.

Settle her down quickly.

Why did you save me?

Just let me die.

We’ve worked so hard to save you.

You still wanna die?

Do you know

how many patients in the world die

without treatment every day?

Look at those patients who are seriously ill.

They are so painful,

but they are still pulling themselves together.

You’re so young,

but you don’t cherish your life,

and the efforts of medical staff.

So many opportunities for patients

waiting for rescue are wasted.

The wound has been treated.

Think about it.

Who are you?

I’m the patient’s husband.

Doctor.

How is my wife now?

She’s fine for now.

But,

is there something wrong with your wife?

Or something made her unhappy?

She had depression before.

But I didn’t expect it to be so serious.

This time she’s lucky.

But it doesn’t mean that she can still be lucky next time.

You have to be prepared.

Please go ahead.

Your wife

has developed a serious suicidal tendency.

It belongs to severe depression.

I recommend early treatment.

Doctor, I will cooperate with any treatment required.

Money is not the problem,

as long as she can be cured.

First of all, drug therapy can be taken into consideration.

Drug therapy?

Of course, the patient like her

needs long-term medication.

She might be drug dependent.

There’ll be trigeminal neuralgia,

memory loss,

and damages to visceral organs, etc.

Is there any other way?

If you don’t adopt drug therapy,

then try psychological treatment.

The best psychotherapy is to keep her company.

Your family members have to accompany her as much as possible.

Help her relieve the pressure,

and ensure her safety.

Besides, the patient is quite agitated.

It’s better not to let her know about her illness,

so as not to bother her.

Ok. Thank you, doctor.

All right. You’re welcome.

Fanlu.

If anything really happens to you,

how can I live the rest of my life?

If I’m dead, everyone will be easy.

Isn’t it?

Why are you saying like that?

Fanlu.

Do I behave disgracefully in your heart?

People say couple for one day, love forever.

Moreover, we’ve been married for so long.

The doctor told me to be nice to you.

Don’t lie to me.

I know what’s wrong with me.

Why did you save me?

It’ll be good that I’m dead.

What’s the point of living?

It’ll be easy instead to be dead.

Fanlu.

Don’t say that.

Each person will be in a bad mood sometimes .

The doctor said

you would get better very soon.

Dad.

Get up.

My dear. What’s wrong with you?

Are you silly?

If anything happens to you,

how can I

live with it?

Dad.

My dear. Why are you so upset?

Tell me if you are in trouble.

Dad will help you out.

Come with me.

Tell me. What’s going on?

Dad. I didn’t take good care of Fanlu.

Sure, you didn’t.

Let me ask you.

What did the doctor say?

The doctor said

Fanlu had depression.

When did she have it?

Why don’t you tell me earlier?

Actually Fanlu has been in depression for a while.

I didn’t tell you because I’m afraid you might be worried.

Fanlu is my daughter.

When she was sick, you didn’t tell me.

You were worrying about me.

If you really worried about me,

you would not fight with her recklessly.

You made her lose her baby.

Lin Xiangyuan. I’m telling you.

You should consider yourself lucky that nothing happened to Fanlu.

If anything happens to her,

I won’t forgive you.

Dad. It’s my fault.

I didn’t make Fanlu happy.

So far,

I assume that it’s time to end.
