Episode 40

Ms. Ou.

Zhao Ran was right.

It really is 7 p.m.

It's at Ou Zhenhai's house.

Glasses is ready to go pick him up.

All right.

Tell Yuanwen to be ready.

Got it.

Zheng Ke.

We'll stick to the plan.

Connect to the video feed.

Got it.

Hack into the dark web. Send out the new password.

I'm on it.

Sir.

Mr. Zhou is here.

Mr. Zhou.

Mr. Ou, right?

Have a seat.

Thank you for coming.

Here, have some tea and get refreshed.

Forget about tea.

I have a busy schedule.

Let's make it quick.

I have a question for you.

Tieguanyin took her own life

and Congtou went missing.

What exactly happened?

Problems will always happen in a group

whether big or small.

And these problems are the private matters of our group.

I'm sure we can handle it ourselves.

Private matters?

Fine.

What about Dakun?

What happened to him?

He's a traitor.

If he's a traitor,

do you know why he betrayed you?

Why does it seem like you're very interested in what happened to Dakun?

Glasses.

Bring me Dakun's materials.

Show them to Mr. Zhou.

-Yes. -No.

Never mind.

I'm just asking.

Actually,

I wouldn't say I know everything

about your company's situation.

But after staying at Yungang

for so many days,

I've heard a lot about you.

I'm thinking.

After Group K has lost

three of the Four Vajras,

is your group still as influential as before?

Should I start to question your abilities?

Glasses.

Get me the ledger.

I'm not from the tax office.

Why do I need your ledger?

It was you who pursued Mr. Spectre for a partnership.

Out of no choice,

he sent me here to check on you guys.

We were talking about Dakun earlier.

From what I know,

he's in charge of shipping the goods

in your group, am I right?

That's right.

Without him,

how will your goods be shipped?

Mr. Zhou.

We have a sales network operating

on the dark web.

If you're interested,

I can show you.

Sure.

To be honest,

I came here to check out

your dark web system.

Show me.

My apologies.

Mr. Zhou.

There's a problem with the Internet connection.

I'll go check. Please wait here.

Glasses

Hey.

Glasses is calling.

I knew it.

He won't be able to keep it in.

Remember to put on the whole act.

Be prepared to take the blame.

Come at me as much as you want.

Pick up the call.

Hey, Mr. Glasses.

What is going on?

Why can't I access the dark web?

I followed Mr. Ou's instructions

and handed over the dark web to Ruosheng.

But who knew

that he acted on his own

and upgraded the dark web system.

And caused the system to be inaccessible now.

I'm trying to find a solution

as soon as possible.

Does anyone have urgent use for it?

What are you up to?

I'm asking when you can fix it.

I'll fix it as soon as I can.

After I took care of it, I'll let you know right away.

By then, we can arrange the shipping immediately.

Just ask your buyer to wait for a while, okay?

I'm telling you. Listen up.

If you ruin the plan,

Mr. Ou won't spare any of you.

Who is it?

Why do they need the goods in such a hurry?

Stop asking.

Fix it right away.

Call me when it is fixed.

Do you think Mr. Glasses

will take the bait?

Sir.

The system is being upgraded.

Why is it being upgraded at this point in time?

I don't know.

Maybe it was a coincidence.

What's wrong?

Are you unable to demonstrate the dark web to me?

Your famous dark web system.

Could it be fake?

How can it be fake?

The upgrade won't take long.

Please be patient, Mr. Zhou.

When it comes to business,

integrity and prudence are very important.

You knew I was coming today,

but you didn't prepare what you needed to prepare.

I'm sorry.

I'm not interested in working

with this kind of partner.

Have someone send me back.

Don't leave yet, Mr. Zhou.

I may have to trouble you

to come with me and Glasses to a place.

Where are we going?

A place where the dark web servers are.

Sure.

I'm looking forward to your demonstration.

After you.

Sir, we can't go there.

You said it yourself. This is between you and me.

No one else must know about this.

I'm telling you.

If I lose this deal,

I'll kill you.

Mr. Ou is here.

Godfather.

-Mr. Ou. -Mr. Glasses.

Let me introduce you two.

This is Mr. Zhou Changhao.

-Zoom in. -Hello, Mr. Zhou.

I'm Li Ruosheng.

This is Mu Qing.

He was the one

who developed our dark web system.

-Yimeng, investigate this man. -He developed it?

-Yes. -Yes.

Mu Qing.

Is the system working fine now?

It's all good now.

Demonstrate it to Mr. Zhou.

Sure.

I got it.

Zhou Changhao.

He's a pharmaceutical researcher from Feiteng Pharmaceuticals in the US.

Sky Eye Facial Recognition Warning System,

He has published 15 articles in both domestic and international magazines.

Zhou Changhao, Male, Currently residing in Australia

He had applied for three patents.

While working at Feiteng Pharmaceuticals,

he was fired for mutilating himself in conducting unauthorized human experiments.

He served five years in a US prison.

He moved to Australia after his release.

I can't believe such an intelligent man

would become Spectre's follower.

It is even more unforgivable for such a talented man to commit crimes.

-Zheng Ke. -Yes.

-Restore the dark web system now. -I'm on it.

This is our group client's information

from all over the country.

There are about 100 in total.

On average, around 5kg of goods

is being shipped out every day.

Mr. Zhou, take a look.

Is it 5kg per day?

Client's Information

That's a lot of money.

Your dark web system is very interesting.

Mu Qing, let me ask you.

How long did it take you to develop this system?

About three months.

Three months?

From what I know,

Dakun used three years to build Group K's marketing network,

from nothing to something.

That's right.

This is a technological revolution.

And this man is talented.

And this is what we're after.

In my opinion,

this system and Mu Qing

are what made your company what it is.

Mr. Ou.

He's a great talent.

Why didn't you bring him to me sooner?

Mr. Zhou.

In our group,

everyone has their own role to play.

All I am doing is

to take care of this dark web system.

As for the rest,

I don't have the ability

to do anything else.

Mr. Zhou.

We showed you what you wanted to see.

It's your turn to show me now.

How about this?

Let's arrange a time tomorrow.

I'll show you what you want to see.

Also,

I hope that Mu Qing will be there.

As for the rest,

it's not important if they come or not.

Glasses.

Send Mr. Zhou home.

Yes.

After you, Mr. Zhou.

Client's Information

Client's Information

Client's Information

Godfather.

It's all my fault this time.

I wanted to get a full upgrade

of the system before Spectre arrives.

I promise it won't happen again.

Client's Information

Client's Information

Client's Information

I'm not afraid of problems with the system.

Client's Information

We can reinstall it if there's a problem with the system.

But if a person's heart or brain breaks,

it's hard to get them fixed.

Goodbye, Godfather.

"Risk it to win it."

You're amazing.

Ruosheng.

This is only the beginning.

We only took the first step.

Every step after this,

we have to keep a very low profile.

Fine.

Client's Information

Sir.

I've arranged for Shao Nan

to send Zhou Changhao home.

This Zhou brat.

He has no idea how the world works.

Why did Spectre hire someone like him?

I think

you might want to rethink

the collaboration.

Spectre himself is a weirdo.

It's normal for his men

to have a bad temper.

Glasses.

You didn't do a good job on the dark web.

I admit it.

But I don't understand.

How can it be so coincidental?

The word never got out.

How did this happen?

It looks like

heaven wants me to use Mu Qing.

You mean...

Send him the address of the factory.

Ask him to come early tomorrow.

This Zhou brat is just a nobody.

How dare he act up in front of me?

I wonder how difficult

Spectre is going to be.

Okay, I understand.

I'll be there first thing tomorrow morning.

Did Glasses give you the address of the factory?

Zhou Changhao called my name himself.

How can Glasses refuse?

All right. Stop smugging.

If I hadn't taken all the blame,

you wouldn't be able to stand out like that.

Yes, you're right.

You and I can't do it without each other.

Yes, that's what I mean.

But I'm really curious.

Look at you.

You are talented.

You are capable.

You also have your own principles and limits.

Why don't you use your talent at the right place?

You could run a security company.

Or you could just be a hacker.

Anything is better than being here.

Why must you do this business?

I really don't get it.

What exactly do you want?

So what do you want?

I want money.

I want money too.

It doesn't look like it.

So what do you think I want?

I think you...

You seem like you don't want anything.

But at the same time, it's like you're after everything.

So what exactly do I want?

Why are you asking me what you want? How would I know?

You weren't going to tell me anyway.

No.

I remember now.

Well, you did tell me.

You once said...

you don't want anyone

to be in our industry anymore.

This is what you want, isn't it?

You Goody Two-shoes.

In that case,

has Li Ruosheng started to suspect you?

He didn't suspect me.

Then why did he say that?

Although he didn't suspect me,

maybe his instincts

have already set off a warning.

Don't forget.

Drug dealers' instincts

are more sensitive than most people's.

You're right.

People like them

live their lives as a countdown.

They need to be more alert to live longer.

Thankfully, Ruosheng is a careless simpleton.

Otherwise, you might not be able to get close to him.

Remember the feeling you described earlier today?

Actually, I have felt it too.

Especially just now.

It became more obvious.

In Li Ruosheng's eyes.

When he looked straight into my eyes.

In his eyes, I can clearly see...

the trust he has in me more than anyone else.

I really don't know how he will react

when he found out that I'm a police officer.

You're a police officer.

He's a drug dealer.

What kind of reaction can he have?

Just like you said to me earlier today.

We must always remember our identities.

But don't overthink it.

I think you already did a good job.

Okay, take it down.

Hey.

Mr. Glasses.

Mr. Mu, you're here too.

Greet Mr. Ou.

Hello, Mr. Ou.

Shall we begin?

Anytime.

But I need someone to assist me.

Mu Qing, you'll do it.

All of you, get out of the way.

These are the ingredients

for making Ecstasy Dream.

-That's all? -That's right.

Mr. Zhou, don't you need me

to get you anything else?

Get me a beaker then.

Mr. Ou.

You don't need many tools

to make Ecstasy Dream.

You don't even have to wear a gas mask.

Even an ordinary man that has zero chemistry knowledge

can use cooking utensils

to make Ecstasy Dream.

What do you think? Isn't it incredible?

Right, get me a glass of purified water.

These ingredients

have passed all the security checks overseas and Yungang.

They weren't detected.

Let me put it this way.

Every police force across the world

has no knowledge about these ingredients.

So they don't even know what these are.

Mu Qing.

Would you like to try it? It's very sweet.

Let's not do that.

Watch carefully.

One cup of ingredients

can make up to 30g of Ecstasy Dream.

Okay.

The show is over.

I present to you Ecstasy Dream.

That's it?

If you don't believe me,

have someone try it.

Who wants to try?

You'll do it.

No, Mr. Shao Nan.

Mr. Shao Nan.

Don't touch me.

I want to dance.

Let's dance!

Dance.

I want to dance.

Mr. Ou.

See?

It only takes 30 seconds.

And you'll feel like flying.

That's the charm of Ecstasy Dream.

If I didn't see it with my own eyes,

it's hard to believe

how powerful Ecstasy Dream is.

Mr. Zhou.

Let's go back and talk about it then.

Sure.

The lab report is out.

G3307.

Ecstasy Dream.

The transformation of meth.

It's more penetrative towards the blood-brain barrier.

And it is more addictive.

The synthesis is very simple.

All you need to do is to put the different components together

according to a ratio

and mixed them with purified water.

Then the chemical reaction will be facilitated.

After the chemical reaction took place,

a simple purification process is enough

to extract a fine quality product.

Gosh.

Isn't Ecstasy Dream a monster?

Police for the public

I saw it with my own eyes.

It didn't even take 30 seconds to make a man go crazy.

I've been a police officer for so many years.

I've never seen

Police for the public

such an aggressive drug before.

If this drug spreads out in China.

Police for the public

I can't imagine the consequences.

That's right.

The synthesis of this new drug

is very simple.

It's almost undetectable.

It is also highly addictive.

Conventional drug abstinence methods won't work at all.

Captain Rong.

What should we do next?

Is it 60%

up-front?

Mr. Zhou,

you're being ridiculous.

That's not what I want.

This is Spectre's request.

You're only providing the ingredients.

And you're asking for 60%.

We have to risk our lives to distribute the goods.

I can't accept that.

Whether you accept it or not,

that's the asking price from Spectre.

It's not negotiable.

Sir, what should we do?

If we have to pay them the 60% deposits at once,

we still have to pay

for the raw materials in advance.

Judging by the group's current situation,

we can't hold on financially.

Is that what Yuanwen and Rong Yu said?

Police for the public

I've spoken to them.

But they insisted

to make more contact with Zhou Changhao

and earn his trust.

We can use him to get closer

to finding out Spectre's whereabouts.

If we arrest Zhou Changhao right now,

this line of clue would be completely disconnected.

I agree. We shouldn't alert them.

Otherwise,

finding Spectre will be more difficult in the future.

Once Ecstasy Dream spreads

across the country,

we will be put in a passive spot

for not knowing

what's going on behind it.

They have their reasons.

But Director Liu has instructed

to arrest Zhou Changhao.

Once he leaves the country,

it will be hard to find him.

Police for the public

Director Liu.

Police for the public

I actually support their proposal.

Tell me what you think.

Think about it.

According to Rong Yu's information,

Mr. Ou and this Zhou Changhao

haven't come to an agreement.

That means Zhou Changhao will have to stay in Yungang for a little longer.

Police for the public

I think we can make use of this period of time

and let them get in touch with Zhou Changhao.

Police for the public

Gain Spectre's trust

and convince him to come to Yungang sooner.

If this works out,

it will make arresting Spectre much easier.

Police for the public

I think that's what they're thinking.

Have you thought about it?

If they do that,

they'll be interfering with the deal.

This will directly affect

Ou Zhenhai's interest.

In other words,

they're fighting this old fox head-on.

It's very risky.

But Yuanwen and Rong Yu are very meticulous.

Since that's what they suggested,

they'll find a way to deal with it.

Besides,

Group K has lost most of their men,

Police for the public

they're all relying on Mr. Ou alone.

So making a deal with Spectre is their only chance to make a comeback.

Police for the public

I think

as long as we can take advantage of his weakness,

it will make things a lot easier.

Okay.

Let's do it their way.

I'll inform Director Liu.

Police for the public

Okay.

Sir, your clams.

I didn't order this, sir.

It's a treat from them.

Cheers.

So Mu Qing,

you're not just the developer of the dark web.

You're also Mr. Ou's future son-in-law.

Yes.

You know, when love comes,

you can't stop it even if you want to.

Stop it? Were you trying to stop it?

-Explain yourself. -That's not what I meant.

So...

I guess this isn't just

a simple coincidence.

Yes.

This isn't a coincidence.

So you two are here to convince me on Mr. Ou's behalf?

Convince you?

What do you mean?

Don't you know?

It's 60% up-front payment.

That was the price I offered Mr. Ou.

That's too high.

To be honest,

I made such an offer

hoping that Mr. Ou would back out.

Why?

Weren't you here to make a deal?

Yes.

That's what I thought before coming here.

But after seeing the current situation of Group K,

I've changed my mind.

I was thinking,

for a group

that can collapse anytime,

I really couldn't think of a reason to make you my partner.

In that case,

I'll get straight to the point.

Yes, we're here to convince you.

But it's not for my dad.

This is for us.

We hope you can work with us.

On what ground?

She's Mr. Ou's daughter.

In the future, she'll be taking over Mr. Ou's place.

As for me, I have full control over our group's sales network.

You saw it yourself.

It's the only thing that's good enough for you.

We're confident and capable of making sure

that this strategy will be spread across the whole country.

Or even all over Asia.

Mr. Zhou,

you're a smart man.

I suppose

that's what you want too.

Go on.

You were a pharmaceutical researcher at Feiteng Pharmaceuticals.

Your field of research

was one of the best in the industry.

You worked there for five years,

but you were only a researcher.

Later on,

because of a minor experiment accident,

your career was ended.

You were in prison for five years.

No one dared to hire you when you were released.

You were frustrated.

After all, you worked so hard

hoping that a new drug

can be developed earlier.

All you wanted was fame and fortune.

So you started working for Spectre.

You helped him develop Ecstasy Dream.

But have you thought about this?

You've done so much for him all these years.

What did he give you?

How dare you run a background check on me?

Is everyone in Group K so bold?

If you're trying to drive a wedge

between Spectre and me,

I'm sorry.

You've got the wrong person.

It's 60%.

I can't give the 60% Spectre wants.

But I can give you 20%.

Is this bribery?

Bribery doesn't seem appropriate.

But think about it.

Can Spectre give you

the sum of 20%?

Think about it.

However,

if you really want the money,

you have to help us.

Mr. Zhou.

We've talked a lot.

You must be thirsty.

Here, have more wine.

Let's have a drink.

Here.

What do you

want me to do?

It's 30%.

And 50% up-front payment.

This is Spectre's final offer.

Sir.

I can accept

this offer.

However, there is a condition.

Tell me.

I hope your daughter will be in charge of making deals with Spectre

in the future.

What do you mean?

It means what it says.

This afternoon,

your daughter, your son-in-law, and I

had lunch together by the beach.

The 30% offer

was what your daughter had begged me.

To be honest,

initially, I didn't like Group K at all.

It was Mu Qing.

His name is Mu Qing, right?

It was his dark web trading system

that gave me

a little excitement.

But after the meal,

I found that your daughter

is quite smart.

And I like working with smart people.

Mr. Ou.

You're counting on this deal to make a comeback.

As for what you can do

to save your sinking ship in specific...

You're a businessman.

I believe you know better than I do.

Besides,

Ou Kexin and Mu Qing.

One is your daughter.

The other is your son-in-law.

No matter what you think of it,

it's still better than working with outsiders.

Right?

If you agree,

I will inform Spectre to come to Yungang as soon as possible.

If you don't...

Game over.

Okay.

Goodbye, my friend.

Wait.

Is there anything else, Mr. Ou?

Did Zhou Changhao tell you everything?

-You... -Go ahead and hit me.

I did it because I want to be by your side.

So you were lying to me until now.

I wasn't trying to lie to you.

But I can't let that punk

have his way with you.

I know.

I know everything.

You didn't really want me to get engaged with Mu Qing.

You want us to go abroad

because you want me to stay out of this mess.

I also know that you need this deal.

But did Zhou Changhao and his boss

give you this chance?

You can't do it alone.

I just don't want to see you being bullied.

Yet you jumped into the firepit yourself.

I'm already in the fire pit.

I'm your daughter.

Why can't I share the burden with you?

Kexin.

All I have ever wanted is

for you to have a clean background.

I want to keep you away from all this mess.

You...

Fine.

It's my fault.

I failed to protect you.

Don't say that.

Don't blame yourself.

I told you before.

Home is wherever I'm with you.

I don't ever want to be away from you again.

Now that we're in it together.

You and I both.

There's no turning back for us.

As long as I can be with you,

I've never thought of a way out.

And Mu Qing.

If it weren't for him and his dark web,

Zhou Changhao wouldn't give me this chance.

If the business succeeds,

you have to thank him.

Okay, Mr. Ou.

I'll get Spectre to come to Yungang as soon as possible to work with you two.

I'll leave Yungang tomorrow.

Thank you for coming.

Your daughter put in the most effort.

She did most of the work.

I'll let you know the exact time.

I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Goodbye.
