Princess, the crown princess has come to see you.

You're here, Older Sister.

You're really marrying Prince Yuzhang?

Yes.

You lie. That is not your real intention.

- Her Highness is— - I have been admiring Prince Yuzhang for a while.

He once saved me.

Marrying a hero like him is my wish.

What about Zitan?

Some are destined to love but are not fated to be together.

A'Wu, why don't I recognize you anymore?

Isn't the marriage of a daughter from a noble family like that?

That's true.

Then as your older sister, I will say farewell to you in advance.

I originally wanted to save this phoenix hairpin for your wedding with Zitan

and personally put it in your hair.

Now, I can only...

Forget it then.

Maybe leave it for the one that he marries.

Take it as a wedding gift then.

Congratulations, Princess Yuzhang.

Princess, why didn't you tell the crown princess

that you're only marrying Prince Yuzhang to save Third Prince?

I want Zitan to hear this from Older Sister Wanru.

That I let him down.

Then he can resent me.

Blame me.

Even forget me.

The Third Prince Zitan

is assigned with guarding the Imperial Mausoleum in order to atone for his mother's wrongdoing.

He shall never return to the capital for his entire life, without an imperial edict.

The criminal, Minister Xie Yuan, who was a pillar of the imperial court

and who worked arduously for the court is removed from his post

and exiled from the capital city.

Master is here.

Master!

- Master. - Master.

Please rise. Please rise.

How come it's just a few of you? Where are the others?

Sir, a few days ago, Prime Minister ordered

the release of all Xie clan members.

We are to go back to our hometowns and must not remain in the capital.

I had to wait because there are still some duties to complete in the rest of the families' houses.

So, I'm remaining here.

The Wang clan bullies others to the extreme.

Sir, please drink this cup of wine.

I don't know when you will be back after this.

While you are staying in the capital, don't mention the Xie family.

Wait for my news.

I will not let the hundred-year-old Xie family be ruined in my hands.

I will follow your instructions.

- Sir, go carefully. - Sir, go carefully.

Young Master.

Have you noticed any abnormal behavior from A'Wu these days?

She sleeps and eats well.

If you ask me, she's being way too normal.

So normal that I find my own self in a perturbed state of mind.

I am afraid something bad might happen.

Jin'er, you must be careful more than ever. Don't allow her to cause any trouble.

After she wakes up, tell her that Zitan has been released from the imperial prison.

Third Prince was saved?

It's better to be alive than dead.

A decree was issued ordering him to guard the Imperial Mausoleum to atone for his mother's crime.

He should be setting off in a few days.

Don't tell her what I just told you. It will save her from being anxious and angry.

I'll take my leave.

In a few days,

Wang Xuan... is getting married.

I know.

The Xie family is now in such a miserable state.

Yet the Wang family will marry off their daughter in splendor.

This was all caused by Wang Lin

and had nothing to do with A'Wu.

Even now, you are still speaking up for her.

A few days ago, I suppressed my anger and resentment, to visit A'Wu.

I wanted to see if there was a trace of pain and regret on her face.

Zitan, do you know how laughable this is?

Stop talking.

The woman you protected for over ten years told me

that she is willingly going to marry Prince Yuzhang

because she loves heroes.

- She doesn't have you in her heart at all. - Stop talking!

I will say it! I have to say it!

I just want you to see reality!

Don't forget who caused your mother to unjustly die?

Now all that remains of the Xie family are you and me.

We have to take revenge

for your mother and for the Xie family. (Memorial Tablet of Noble Consort Xie)

Princess.

Are you waiting for Third Prince's eagle and mandarin duck lantern?

He currently sees the Wang family as his enemy

and also believes that I've moved on from him.

So he must be hating me right now.

Why would he come looking for me?

Noble Consort Xie just passed away,

so Third Prince is still in the period of mourning and cannot leave home.

He definitely would not blame Princess.

Jin'er, stop trying to comfort me.

He must know that I will marry Prince Yuzhang in seven days.

If he really believes me,

then he'll send an errand boy to find me,

even if he is confined to his manor.

I heard that His Highness the Third Prince

will soon be sent to guard the Imperial Mausoleum.

It will be really lonely there.

But the Imperial Mausoleum is a safe place.

There's nothing wrong with guarding the mausoleum.

If he stayed in the capital, then he would be in great and constant danger.

Come! Come!

You've bought so many wedding gifts.

If your mind may have already turned these into military rations,

it is an utter loss.

I'm just a miser, right?

No, I just think that usually,

other than military spending,

I have never seen you being this generous.

Princess Shangyang is not an ordinary woman.

If she's marrying me, then I cannot let her lose face.

Be careful.

I was wondering why you have been in a good mood recently.

Put it in the back.

The dead have already died.

I hope Third Prince will not stay in mourning for too long.

Do you know that A'Wu's wedding is in seven days?

I heard about it.

Congratulations, Grand Elder Princess.

You've gained a talented son-in-law.

I want to know

if this is how you really feel.

A'Wu and I... grew up together.

She's always viewed Prince Yuzhang as a hero.

This must be in line with her wishes.

Forget that... Based on what you said,

I feel that poor A'Wu's suffering is not worth it.

Don't you even wonder,

now that your Xie family has suffered such a calamity,

when even Noble Consort could not escape death,

why the empress just simply let you go?

Master, Second Prince is here to visit.

His Highness the Second Prince?

This late. Have him come in.

Yes.

Second Prince, forgive my lack of manners.

What brings you here this late at night?

A great calamity is upon us.

I'm begging Advisor Wen to save my Ma family's nation.

A'Wu sacrificed so much for you

and you are standing here giving up!

She loves you so much.

Why would she suddenly marry someone else?

It is because she promised Her Majesty

she'd sacrifice her marriage if she saved your life.

You mean to tell me...

that in order to save me, A'Wu agreed to marry Prince Yuzhang.

What do you think?

You dared to say that you and A'Wu love each other.

You even said you grew up together.

And yet, you still don't understand what kind of woman A'Wu is!

If you still have A'Wu in your heart,

tomorrow night at the zi hour, (Ancient time - 2300 or 11:00)

you both will meet at the bridge east of the city.

I've already prepared everything.

There will be a boat for you two to leave the capital.

Go as far as you can.

Find a hidden place and never return.

But... But I still haven't completed my revenge.

Since you can't even protect yourself,

how can you get revenge or rescue others?

Remember, tomorrow night, zi hour.

This is your last chance!

[Wang Manor]

Don't blame Auntie for being hard-hearted.

One day, you will understand my intentions.

Auntie is someone who has lived through this before.

Zitan is definitely not a good match for you.

A'Wu, I know—

Then, is Xiao Qi a good match for me?

Although Xiao Qi is of humble origins,

he has made great military contributions and controls a 200,000 member strong army.

Now, he has also been granted the bequeathable title of Prince Yuzhang, so this is not a dishonor to you.

A'Wu, Auntie has watched you grow up.

How could I choose a husband that's not worthy of you?

Is it really important what kind of person he is

as long as you and Father are satisfied?

A'Wu... my good child,

listen to Auntie just this once, all right?

Later, whatever you want,

Auntie will give it to you.

Auntie,

after today, I will do whatever you say.

I just have one request

and hopes Auntie still dotes on A'Wu and will be fair.

All right?

Advisor Wen.

What do you mean by this, Advisor Wen?

Prince Yuzhang, if you have to be a son-in-law of the Wang Clan,

then kill me and take my head

to your future father-in-law.

And if I do not become the Wang Clan's son-in-law?

The conspiracy today will impact the future of this country,

impact the safety of the emperor,

and also impact the lives of all the people in this nation.

Although I am just a scholar,

I cannot watch and do nothing.

Today, I braved death to come here,

just so I could ask you one question.

For the survival of this nation,

are you willing to make this wager with me?

Do you think what he said is true?

Does Prime Minister really want to revolt?

There's the attempt on Third Prince's life, the emperor being poisoned,

and the entire Xie family being exiled.

The fight for succession has already unleashed a bloody tempest

and the Wang Clan is definitely involved.

Are we really going to leave?

This marriage is to make the people believe that I am allied with the Wang family.

- Do you really think we can stay? - But...

But what?

Are you really willing to leave Princess Shangyang behind?

Guard her closely.

If there are any blunders, I will have your head.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Senior Maidservant Xu, why are you...

Eunuch, it is raining heavily and the weather is cold.

Grand Elder Princess asked me to make some ginger tea for everyone.

Please have some! Warm yourself up!

Thank you for your trouble, Senior Maidservant.

Please.

You two have some as well!

Thank you, Senior Maidservant!

Princess!

Princess, change your clothes! Quickly!

What is going on?

Quickly! Don't ask me! Get up. Change yourself now!

Tell me what is going on.

Grand Elder Princess has arranged everything for you.

Quick! Come here! Change your clothes!

Princess, quickly go! Quickly!

Princess, remember

to look for the boat sailing from the shore of the Eastern Fish Market.

Princess, you must remember that!

Wait a second!

Princess, you must be very careful on your way!

Mother!

A'Wu, you and Zitan must find a place of refuge.

Continue to live well.

Here.

This is a gold leaf without any imperial seal.

It won't give away your identity.

It's enough so you and Zitan can live a life without worries.

Mother, if I leave,

what will happen to you?

If Auntie and Father discover this, how will you—

Calm down. Calm down.

No matter how ruthless your father is, we are still a married couple.

If this still doesn't work, I am still the Grand Elder Princess.

Can anyone do anything to me?

If I leave... when will I see you again?

A'Wu.

I know how it feels

to marry a man you don't love.

I went through that pain.

I will never let you suffer through it.

Grand Elder Princess, let the princess leave now.

Leave now.

- Leave! - Mother.

Mother, accept this bow from your unfilial daughter.

Princess, let's leave.

Hurry up.

Princess, let's leave now.

Mother.

Let's quickly leave.

Quickly.

Leave now!

Princess, get up now.

Princess, quickly.

- Are you all right? - I'm fine.

This way.

This way. It's there.

Older Brother Zitan.

Princess, he's not here yet.

Wait in the boat.

Princess, it's raining heavily.

Wait in the boat.

No, I will wait for him here.

If I get into the boat, then he won't see me.

Leave. Leave!

Leave!

Get out!

Although you and A'Wu are of the same mind and heart,

her status is different.

The slightest change will affect everything.

Marriage affects the state of affairs.

I advise you to stay away from her.

Princess, it's been two hours.

Is Third Prince not coming?

He will definitely come.

Princess, let's go back.

Princess.

Is Third Prince really not coming?

He will definitely come.

[Memorial Tablets of the Wang Ancestors]

Wang An, just ask.

Wife.

Prime Minister, I have been waiting here for you.

Is something the matter?

Yes.

Fine. Let's talk in our room.

Don't move. Stay here and talk.

Kneel in front of the memorial tablets of your Wang ancestors.

Answer me.

The poisoning of my Imperial Older Brother, are you behind it?

Madam Xie already wrote her confession to the crime.

Wang Lin! A real man stands behind his actions!

Even in front of your Wang ancestors, you still refuse to admit it?

Yes. I did it.

You—

Jinruo... if you can't do it,

then put the dagger down.

Jinruo.

Get away from me!

I hate myself.

As a daughter of the imperial family,

when facing the man who poisoned my imperial brother

and caused the separation of my daughter and me,

I still can't kill you.

Then, let me

die to atone for my crimes in front of my brother and our Ma ancestors.

Master! Master! Master!

Don't touch me!

Master, the princess... she's disappeared.

The princess disappeared?

Your Highness.

Your Highness, Hu Yao will meet us at the west gate.

Once we get out of the city, we will follow the riverbank westward.

Once we get to Yunjin, we will cross the river and head north.

In this way, we can avoid the lands controlled by the Wang family.

Did you forget about your bride?

Do you think the great Princess Shangyang will easily let you go?

The great Princess Shangyang

and the suave Third Prince

are truly a match made in heaven.

Do you really want me to stay

and steal the love of another?

It's too bad.

After tomorrow, you won't find

another beautiful woman like Princess Shangyang.

- Why don't you go pack everything up? - Yes.

Princess, he is not going to come.

He will definitely come.

If he wanted to come, then he would have come a long time ago.

Quickly!

Prime Minister has ordered to seal the city!

Prime Minister has ordered to seal the city!

A'Wu promised the empress

to sacrifice her marriage

if she'd save your life.

Tomorrow night at zi. This is your last chance.

A'Wu, you have to wait for me!

The rain has already stopped.

Princess, stop being naive. Let's go.

Princess! The sun is almost up! If we don't go now, then it will be too late!

Older Brother Zitan...

Senior Maidservant Xu! It's Older Brother Zitan!

Senior Maidservant Xu, what's going on?

Father...

A'Wu.

Stop right there!

Have you still not given up?

You have waited all night. Where is he?

Did he come?

If Zitan wanted to come, then he would have come a long time ago.

He doesn't dare come.

He's a coward!

He's not worthy of your love.

Right now, he loathes you. Stop being naive.

How long are you going to lie to yourself?

A'Wu!

A'Wu!

A'Wu!
