(Rifle being cocked)

(Crackle)

Are you going out there scouting, boy?

Yeah, that's right.

There ain't been a sign of Yankees out there in four days.

Why do they keep sending you boys out there, anyway?

I bet the Yanks all gone home.

(Second Man) You guys have been going out there for two days.

(First man) They've probably been sniffing after bluecoats down by the river.

What them generals thinking of, anyway?

We ought to have been chasing bluecoats

the hell out of Georgia by now.

And here's us just sitting,

thinking we're the revival, waiting for Jesus to arrive.

Old Jerome, he ain't said nothing since the Yanks took Colston.

- No news of his family. - If them boys don't douse that fire,

the whole wood's going to burn down.

We lost three boys in Longstreet.

(First man) How about three Yanks for the three boys?

We're going to skin some Yankee arses.

Lookie here, Gene,

if they're still down the valley, they'll be round that old lead mine.

You look now and mind how you step, boy.

Keep an eye out for a sign of Jerry Brightwell.

- God be with you, boy. - You take care, James Clavering.

God be with you, boy.

God be with you, boy.

Take care, James Clavering.

Kill that fire.

Come on, dammit. We haven't got all day. Come on.

Clear that round. Get that horse up there.

Powder secure, Sergeant.

- Ready to fire. - Move that rifle, Hasterlik.

Fire!

Too high. Too damned high.

Hasterlik can't even hit a damned wall.
