[The Flaming Heart]

[Episode 10]

[Work As One] What's on your mind?

Logistics are too busy to sleep every day.

Be grateful they got you something to eat.

This is the heatwraps

from our own stocks.

What do you think?

Feeling warmed

and touched?

Yes.

I touched it with love,

so you can feel the warmth.

[Medical Assistance] [Emergency Supplies]

[Food Security Zone] Go handle the fish.

The fish is being naughty.

Come on, I'll show you.

Listen,

pour out the water.

See how long it would last.

-Try it. -Makes sense.

Try getting away now.

They got out.

What are you doing?

You're afraid of fish?

No, I'm not. It's just them being untamed.

A big man like you is still afraid of fish.

Like a child.

What...

What do you plan to do?

I'll...

I will be responsible for you.

What?

Responsible?

Yeah, to be your boyfriend.

You...

like me this much?

This much?

How much exactly?

Doing all these things with no complaints.

Look.

Would you be complaining

-doing things for Yan La? -No.

I'm doing the same here.

I thought you were joking around.

[Pingxi County] But you should give up.

In this lifetime,

Little Mole is the only one I'd marry.

I know that.

But I think...

if you end up being with Yan Lan,

you'll have my blessing. I mean it.

Because every time I think of you,

I'll be relieved

and happy.

So, if

you can be as happy as I am

and be with the person you like,

even if not with me,

it's okay.

It's quite good.

However,

you're out of the game, you know?

Yan Lan

is about to make up with Huo Yan.

Don't jinx it.

No way.

Yan Lan will definitely be my wife.

Dummy.

The aura.

The aura in between, you see?

From what I know about Yan Lan,

she's just putting on a cold face,

covering the stirring inside.

She has more bark than bite towards Huo Yan

and is secretly enjoying it.

No way, absolutely impossible.

You know nothing.

Wait and see for yourself.

You'll know I'm right.

Alright,

I understand that you're hurt.

But I'll be with you.

Come on.

[Work As One to Rebuild Our Home] Once you've moved on from her,

you'll find the beauty of mine

and will like me as well.

A girl like me, who is beautiful and cute,

is like a hotcake in a store.

To thank you for bringing me this packed meal,

I'll tell you a joke.

One day, in a forest,

a doctor was helping

deliver a centipede.

Then?

Then, in the delivery room,

the doctor was shouting triumphantly,

"You're doing great!"

"One leg is coming out! The other one as well! And another one!"

"One leg is coming out! The other one as well! And another one!"

"One leg is coming out! The other one as well! And another one!"

The leg is coming out.

Ma Qian Li,

[Medical Assistance] [Emergency Supplies]

Did the water splash into your brain while dumping it?

I was talking about the fish! What to do with them?

We're having fish soup for lunch!

I'll be responsible for them too.

Okay, fine. Listen up.

Three of them. Before heating the pan,

I will see the corpses of three of them.

Am I clear? Repeat after me.

Their corpses!

Their corpses.

Not that twitching kind of corpse.

What about being your boyfriend?

You don't need to.

I'm not dating someone younger than me.

I'm not.

Are you even of age?

I am.

I'm 21 already.

And I'm 29!

This is inanity.

I'm pissed.

Darn you fish.

Oh, you foolish fish.

Look at the scene you made.

Nothing I can do to save you now.

[Jiangsu Fire and Rescue] It's not boiling here.

[China Fire and Rescue] Edible enough.

Why doesn't it work?

You have to turn it on.

Not yet.

[Relief Supplies Registry] Excuse me, who is the one in charge?

Greeting.

Hello, what can I do for you?

Do I report to you

when things happen?

Yes.

Come on, have a seat.

Mine your step.

Give me a hand. Get the child.

Be careful.

Careful.

Here is the thing.

My son got injured.

He is having a fever and being unconscious.

When he woke up, he told me that

the day, during the earthquake,

he and some other kids were playing hide and seek

in the factory where I work at.

After the hit of the earthquake,

they were all trapped underground.

My boy was hiding outside of the factory.

Just got minor injures.

After gaining consciousness,

he turned to me

and asked me

if the other kids

trapped there were rescued

after the earthquake.

So long as I heard,

according to the team from the site,

no kids were rescued from that factory.

But...

But I checked.

There were no kids

listed on the help list.

That's what I'm afraid of.

These kids were all from Fengdeng Village.

The whole village is underground now.

Their parents couldn't have sent the help list.

I was thinking I should come here to report this.

What if the kids are still alive?

Okay.

Ji Yuan.

You take him and his son

to do a full body checkup.

Make sure

they are fine.

On it.

Thank you, thank you so much.

It's okay.

Huo Yan, Luo Jie.

How's your wound?

No big deal.

Good, you two hurry to the factory

that man was talking about

to check it out.

I'm reporting this to the higher-ups.

Remember, ensure communications are reliable.

-Yes. -Yes.

Everyone, prepare yourself.

Gather up in one minute by the truck.

Yes, sir.

Be careful.

Li Yan Liang, you stay and rest.

Jiang Tong.

Da Yin.

You two stay put.

In case of emergency

for you to handle.

Yan Lan, you bring three nurses

and go with them.

As fast as possible.

Come.

Let's go.

[When a disaster strikes, help will come from all sides.]

[Han's Pharmaceuticals is concerned about the people in the disaster area.]

Mr. Han, you know this person?

Didn't expect to bump into him here.

How unlucky.

Say that again.

Luo Jie.

Come on.

Forget it, lives are at stake.

You know him?

From primary school.

Come on, we got lives to save.

-Be careful on the road. -You too.

See you guys there.

Hop.

Roger that, you can count on me.

Chief Chen.

Hi, Chief Chen.

Hi, you are?

My name is Han Pei.

Running some companies in Nanjing.

You had once been there

to do the instruction.

Please forgive me.

Urgent rescue on going.

Catch up with you later,

alright?

Understood.

It's just that

I want to do something for the situation here.

See, I brought two trucks of provisions.

Thank you, thank you very much.

Please, go ahead, you and your friends.

Get some rest

in our tents.

Okay, we'll go ahead.

Please don't bother. Duty comes first.

Thank you for understanding.

Do be careful.

Got it.

Lead the way.

Come on, get out of here.

Get out.

Mr. Zhu.

Tell me, who do you thinking you're fooling?

Me or yourself?

Mr. Han.

Where is the thing?

I was going to bring it to you.

But the earthquake hit with no warning.

I couldn't get it because the factory is gone now.

Couldn't get it, huh?

I really can't.

What do we do with people

who can't get the job done?

I'm giving you one last chance.

Can you do it or not!

Yes.

Yes, I can.

I will.

Okay then. Here is your one last chance.

One last time.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Anyone?

-Anyone there? -Anyone?

Anyone there?

Be careful.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Anyone?

-Anyone there? -Anyone there?

Help.

Here.

Help.

Watch your step.

The ground is ramshackle. Hold your steps.

Help.

Help.

Help!

Someone is here.

Help!

Help!

Little boy, are you alone?

Are you hurt?

Yes, just me.

I... I can't move.

Can you see the light?

Yes.

Stay calm.

Flue pipe faces east.

Save the rope.

Prepare the crowbar and the lever.

What for? We not rappeling down?

The pipe is on the edge of another collapse

and there is no spot

solid enough for rappelling.

Can't go in this way.

Then where should we go in?

We go down in the way

the kid went there. Come with me.

Yan Lan.

You decide someone

to stay put here.

How about Bai?

Okay.

She'll report back to us

in case of contingency.

Hang on there.

We're coming for you.

I'll get you out right away.

Bai.

You stay here

for the boy.

Okay.

Watch your step.

Wait for us.

One step at a time.

Careful.

How is it going?

Look.

This is a semi-basement factory.

The part above the ground

has already collapsed.

There.

How is it?

Its internal structure is very complex.

Might take some time to find a way in.

Keep looking. Report once you find something.

Yes.

The recon rover can't get in

if the flue pipe is blocked.

-I'm going in. -Watch yourself there.

Got it.

I'm coming with you.

I'll be able to provide

casualties with first aid.

We don't know the situation down there, Little Mole.

You stay here with the rest of us.

You can do your work when we need you.

Let me go instead.

It's dangerous down there. Can't let my senior risk it.

You two kids stop fighting.

It's just a recon.

We might all need to go down there

if it turns out there are casualties.

Zhang Mo.

Wait.

Huo Yan, do you copy?

Do you copy?

Roger.

Save the battery for later.

Stay calm and be brave, kiddo.

I'm here for you.

After you get out of there

and get better,

we'll be playing

hide and seek with you.

That would be nice.

I'll sing a song for you.

I don't sing very well,

but I'll sing just for you.

Hang on.

Just a little longer.

I am right here for you.

How is it going?

Chief Huo, here.

It's the right direction.

The flue pipe should be there.

Move it over.

Lend me a hand.

One, two, three.

Slowly. Okay.

Come on.

[Be Clean, Be Neat, Be Cultured]

Hello? We're the rescue.

Wait, what? What's that?

Stay there!

Watch out! Stay back!

Huo Yan, Huo Yan, do you copy?

Huo Yan? Huo Yan?

(Huo Yan? Huo Yan?)

What now?

Don't worry. I'm on it.

Qian Li, let's go.

I'm coming with you.

It's too dangerous!

Yan Lan.

Rest assured. I got Huo Yan's back.

I promise I'll bring him back.

Senior, I'll go instead.

No more arguing,

I'm going now.

You're in charge here.

Help her.

Be careful down there.

Bring the stretcher.

Help Doctor Yan.

Huo Yan.

Huo Yan? Huo Yan!

-What happened? -Are you okay?

It's okay, I'm fine.

Quick, go check that guy.

-Are you okay? -Hello?

I'll check on you.

Are you hurt? Where are you hurt?

Can you hear me?

Come on, we're turning you over.

Come on, be careful.

We're laying you down.

Can you see the light?

I'm checking your wound.

Stay calm.

Multiple lacerations on the face.

Could be a skull fracture.

Qian Li, bring him out.

On it.

Zhang Mo.

Go rest up there.

Okay.

Here.

Lift him up carefully. Be gentle.

(Jiang Tong, Wang Dayin.)

(Do you copy? Do you copy?)

Loud and clear.

(Just received a distress call from the civilian rescue team.)

(There are people trapped in the Cliff Village.)

The rescue team's vehicles are approaching your camp.

(Prepare yourself and go with them)

(for the rescue now.)

-Roger that. -Roger that.

Sure you want to take this now?

I'm not asking you to take it.

Here! Here!

Can you hear us, kid?

Move it over!

One, two, three.

-Need a hand here. -Luo Jie.

-Ready? Together. -One, two, three.

-Careful, careful, there. -Got it.

Stay calm there.

I'm coming for you.

Luo Jie.

We don't fit in.

Ma, have a try.

Yes.

Give me that.

Give it a shot.

Come on.

Be careful.

Got it.

Watch your head.

What's going on?

I can get in but I can barely move in there.

What now? It's too small.

Even Ma can't get through it.

Let me do it. I can get through.

Out of the question. Stay here.

I'm the only one who can get through here

and the boy is getting weak.

We can't afford to waste any time.

No, we can't risk a medic's life.

Anyone else can do it.

Anyone but you.

We have all firefighters here.

You'll be the last option.

But do we have any other options right now?

Yan Lan, you sure about this?

Cut it out.

Yes, I'm sure.

Luo Jie, right now,

this is the only option we have here.

It's quite steep here.

Don't worry. We're getting there.

We'll find a way.

Here you are! Finally!

Please help my boy.

He's been up there for days!

He can't get down here!

Please stay calm.

Let us get a full picture here.

This is a village

of twelve homesteads.

It's mounted on

the cliffside of the canyon by the Wangzi river.

Geographically speaking,

there is a middle level in between

a three-step-like terrace

and the vertical distance to us

from that middle level is about 20 meters.

To reach the world outside,

people here must go through this

vine ladder of forty-seven steps by the bluff.

But with the damage of the middle section of the ladder,

so

only the upper section is available now.

Why... why are they

living in such a special place?

About that,

the village was built 100 years ago.

Back when

the British were engaged in colonial

invasion in Yunnan and Myanmar.

People back then

found this reclusive spot

as a refuge.

With time,

they settled down and built their home.

They got used to it, so they never came down.

It's the modern age now, right?

What a journey for children

and the elder coming down from there.

In recent years, thanks to the implementation of

targeted poverty alleviation,

most denizens have already moved to the town.

Not many families

left up there.

You said that your grandson is up there.

How did he end up there?

This is what happened.

We just moved to the town not long ago.

The boy's parents settled in another city to work.

Each time before they would come back,

he'll go up there to check

if his parents are back.

He can see further up there.

No one saw the earthquake coming.

He is trapped now!

Any record of repairing the ladder?

How did you repair it before?

You can't just replace it.

All was just tinkering and patching kind of work.

How to get a foothold

while doing that?

The ladder was there when I was young.

I used it for decades.

The most recent repair was two years ago and that's when

my son got up there

nailing the damaged part.

Free climbing?

With this height?

Like we had a choice.

I can kind of climb.

I'll do it.

What?

Can you do it?

I can't and you can?

Please rest assured.

Thanks.

I'll help find spots to anchor.

How? With that height?

Now you're a talking layman.

We've now got a device

that can scan the surface of the bluff.

The computer will analyze the situation

and find you the best route possible for

safely setting the anchor for climbing.

Da Yin.

Be careful.

Huo Yan!

Trust me.

I can do this.

I believe in you.

[Tips for Fire Safety]

More and more elderly people are living alone.

They might have mobility difficulties.

What can we do to keep older people safe from fire?

In daily life,

be sure to check potential fire hazards at home.

Do not stockpile flammable and combustible items in your home.

Make regular inspections of electrical wiring.

Make timely replacement of aging equipment and wiring.

Do teach the elderly to call the helpline

and to ask for help from their neighbors.

It is recommended to install independent smoke detectors

and other early warning devices.

The most important thing is

to visit home often.
