Episode 20

I'm deeply sorry for the intrusion,

but a friend of mine in China, whose major is architect,

she would love your autographed photo.

Can you do me a favor, please.

Your wife?

Come on in.

I've decided to go with you to Shanghai.

I don't know what to say. Thank you.

You know why I'm going to help you.

Because you remind me of myself

when I was young.

When I met my wife Anna,

I was in love with her at first sight.

Anna likes chocolate mousse,

so every day I bring it to her.

I couldn't bear to see her disappointed.

So sometimes, I would wait outside the pastry shop,

just begging the pastry chef to make her another one.

You remind me when I still have that

'If I don't achieve the goal, I won't give up' spirit.

I can see you really like this girl.

I do.

And I hope she knows that you got such pains for her.

And I hope you get her.

I've got your blessing.

Thank you very much, Professor Ohm.

What?

Yuzheng hasn't told you any of this?

No.

You should be very happy.

Yuzheng loves you,

just like I love Anna.

You need to treasure him.

Speak of the devil.

Welcome back.

What's the secret talk?

That's a little secret.

A toast

to the Shanghai trial, Shanghai architecture.

Thank you.

I'm very happy today.

Helping you

makes me happy too.

I want to know...

Why me?

I don't know why.

I just feel that

you are not like the others to me.

I don't know

when this feeling started.

But when I found that,

I was already deep in it.

But this feeling is kind of interesting.

Because even for me, Lei Yuzheng, there's still something I can't control.

But…

It seems that I'm not that good.

You know what,

someone once told me that

you didn't understand love

because you'd never met it.

At that time,

I was contemptuous of

this theory.

I even thought it was ridiculous.

Are there really that many people in the world

who want to give their heart to each other?

What is better than

money and material desire?

But when I meet you now,

I eventually understand that

love exists.

Indeed, I'd never met it before.

Maybe this is how it feels to love someone.

Xiaosu.

In this world,

it's easy to create relationships between people,

but it's hard to produce feelings.

Because it's very hard to

find someone who is close to your heart.

Especially between men and women,

it's so complicated.

"Love once begun,

will never end."

I start to understand that phrase now.

You asked me why I treated you well.

In fact,

it's hard for me to give you a satisfactory answer.

This seems to

make sense.

But...

I am a particularly insecure person.

This is just the difference between a man and a woman.

A woman always asks why.

But when a man

falls in love with a woman,

there is no reason.

Men and women are different, so what?

Regardless of men or women,

there's always a reason to love each other.

Xiaosu, to be honest,

we had misunderstandings and prejudices

since we knew each other from the very beginning.

But just because of this,

we are getting to know each other better.

I got used to your presence.

It hurts me that you are sad.

I'm happy that you're happy.

I can't help but want to care for you, pamper you,

and do everything for you.

I've never done what I did for you before.

Xiaosu, do you trust me?

Yes, I do.

And you?

Are you willing to give me an answer?

It's OK.

I know that you need some time to consider.

I want to tell you that

I can wait.

Let's go. I'm sending you home.

Mr. An, have you noticed that

Yutian's stock

has been very strong recently?

The stock price has been climbing.

The stock often reaches the limit up.

The trading volume of a week is

as much as that of a month in the past.

That's true.

In recent days, many people have asked me

if Yutian has any big move.

Why does the money keep flowing to our stock?

Maybe there is something hidden from us.

I think everyone would like to know

why did I go abroad

last week?

Yes,

I have been hiding the details from everyone.

Now, I can tell you.

Linton, president of the famous listed group S.G.,

has arrived in Shanghai now.

At this time tomorrow,

S.G. will sign a contract with the Yutian Group

in Bin Jiang Hotel

to create the Entertainment Center project.

Yes.

After signing the contract,

the S.G. Group will invest large amount of money into the project,

and work with us to build a new brand

in the field of global entertainment.

Great!

The S.G. Group is a big financial group.

With its help,

our Entertainment Center Project

is no longer under financial pressure.

Yuzheng,

you really bring us

a big surprise.

No wonder our stock

has been so hot lately.

Stock?

Mr. Lei,

here's the agreement

Mr. Linton just sent over.

Several details have been adjusted.

Please check soon.

Excuse me for my absence.

My son, just in time.

Help me check

which one is appropriate

at your signing ceremony.

Daddy,

you'd better not go.

Bin Jiang Hotel is far from our home,

and you just recover.

No need to be so tired.

I'm not tired,

because your cooperation with S.G.

makes me very happy.

Not to mention the Bin Jiang Hotel.

I will support you on site

even in a place much further away.

OK.

What? You think your father is too old

and will embarrass you

on such big occasion?

Of course not, daddy.

I think

this black suit looks better.

Daddy,

this tie

is very suitable for you.

Let's see.

My good boy.

Mr. Lei, it's eight o'clock now,

and we have to go.

Let's go.

Next,

we invite you all

to witness this great moment.

Mr. Lei Yuzheng, the president of the Yutian Group,

and Mr. Linton, the president of the S.G. Group,

will sign the contract of

Universal Entertainment Center.

They will cooperate with this great project sincerely.

Please.

Why did the police come?

Hello, Mr. Lei.

We suspect that you are involved in

a case of illegal trading.

Please come with us

and cooperate with the investigation.

Police comrade,

is there any misunderstanding?

We are holding the signing ceremony of the Yutian Group today.

It's impossible that Mr. Lei has any problem.

Mr. Lei, we received a report about you.

Please come with us.

Mr. Lei, what's going on?

I don't know.

Yuzheng, you can't go with them.

It's OK.

I will go with you.

Mr. Lei, you can't go.

You must be mistaken.

Qunfei, stop.

I dare go with them,

just because I am not guilty.

Please take care of my father during this period.

Daddy, I'm going to make a statement

and will be back soon.

Yuzheng.

- Mr. Lei - Yuzheng

Mr. Lei.

Uncle Lei, uncle Lei.

-Mr. Lei. -Don't touch him.

Don't touch him.

- Uncle Lei. - Mr. Lei.

Call an ambulance!

-Unbutton his suit. -Make a call quickly.

Hello, is that the Emergency Center?

Move!

Quickly, quickly.

Excuse me, please give way.

Be careful!

Take it slow and be careful.

Excuse me. The family must wait outside.

(Lei Yuzheng)

Oh my God.

These people all finally left.

These reporters chased me

and made my blood pressure raised.

Well, that's true.

The contract was about to be signed.

Suddenly,

it turned to a great disaster.

What a nightmare.

What will we do about this?

Xiangyuan.

How's it going?

Xiangyuan, it's urgent.

Don't hesitate in speech.

Say now.

I've asked around.

Someone took advantage of the news of our cooperation with S.G.

to buy many stocks of Yutian

and maliciously overstock.

No way.

Except for Lei Yuzheng,

everyone just knew that

we are going to sign contract with S.G. yesterday.

Yes.

But they all said that.

Nonsense,

Yuzheng would never do this.

Daddy, it's impossible.

Yes, Xiangyuan.

Lei Yuzheng

is not a rookie in the business.

He clearly knows what he can do and what he can't do.

He is very clear about that.

To say the least,

even though he did that,

he would hide it completely

and never give any chance of being threatened.

Xiangyuan,

you must be mistaken.

I was afraid I was wrong,

so I double-checked,

and it is absolutely true.

Mr. Jiang, this is a crime.

I really don't know what Yuzheng is thinking.

He looks smart,

but how could he do such a silly thing.

No.

Yuzheng would never do this.

I will investigate by myself.

Fanlv.

Come back, Fanlv.

Mr. Lei, according to our investigation,

you plan to sign the contract with S.G. today

for strategic cooperation, right?

Yes.

But the evidences provided by related parties show that

someone has known the news

of your cooperation with S.G.

before you sign the contract.

So, he bought a lot of stocks

to boost the stock trading volume and

maliciously increase the stock price.

That is to say, your company is suspected of insider trading

and disrupting the stock market.

I'm sorry.

I'm not trying to pass the buck,

but I did just get back from overseas.

I haven't had time to notice

the anomaly in our stock.

Mr. Lei,

about this cooperation,

except you,

did anyone else know that?

Qunfei,

some investments are good for us

and some are not.

Lin Xiangyuan is a mercenary person,

and I'm afraid

the money he found can't be used.

But the Entertainment Center is spending a lot of money every day.

I'm afraid we're running out of available capital.

If this situation continues,

the capital chain will break.

So,

I will disclose to you today,

that our cooperation with S.G. has been finalized.

We just have to sign the contract.

Mr. Lei,

did anyone come into your mind?

I want to know that,

in this case,

will there be

any legal consequences?

Non-public information was used for insider trading.

In addition to the fine,

involved persons are liable for

certain legal responsibilities in serious cases.

In very bad cases,

involved persons may be sentenced to detention

or imprisonment.

Mr. Lei,

you are the principal of the Yutian Group,

and also a public figure.

I think you should be clear about the stake.

If you hide anything on purpose,

it will only harm yourself.

We just want to know

who else knew

your company has strategic cooperation with S.G., besides you.

Besides me,

no one knows that.

(Qingpu Branch of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University)

Doctor,

how is Mr. Lei doing?

The surgery was successful,

and the patient's life is not in danger for now.

But...

Will he wake up

or when will he wake up,

we are not sure.

Maybe,

he will never wake up in this life.

You need to be prepared for this.

You mean...

The patient has this disease for a long time.

Once the disease recurs, it can be very dangerous.

To be honest, it's a great luck

to get his life back.

We can only do our best

and leave the rest to God.

Assistant He,

Mr. Jiang asked me to take over for a while.

Go back to have a rest now.

I know that you and Mr. Lei are close to each other,

but you need to take care of yourself.

I'm sorry for Mr. Lei this time.

I know that

what he did was for the capital of the Entertainment Center Project.

Otherwise,

he would never make such a stupid mistake.

What do you mean?

What stupid mistake?

You don't know that?

Mr. Lei was taken to the police station,

because someone took advantage of

the news of our cooperation with S.G.

to buy stocks and sell short.

Think about that, in addition to Mr. Lei,

who else knows our cooperation?

Someone must be trying to sell the stock in his hand and borrow stock to sell.

He wanted to raise money for the company.

Nonsense!

Who told you that?

This information was obtained by Mr. Lin from the Public Security Bureau.

All people in the company knew that.

Is Lei Yuzheng going abroad to talk about a big business?

He goes abroad to talk with S.G. about cooperation.

You...

Crab Roe Cake,

Toutiao Pastry,

and fermented bean curd.

Excuse me, foreigners do not eat fermented bean curd.

It could be.

Maybe Professor Ohm likes it.

I'm going to call Lei Yuzheng,

and ask him when will Professor Ohm go back.

Sorry,

the subscriber you dialed is powered off.

Please…

Sorry,

the subscriber you dialed is powered off.

What's wrong?

His phone is powered off.

Lei Yuzheng said that

he never turned off his phone.

Qunfei, why do you come here?

What's up?

An upright man

isn't afraid of anything.

Did you do something bad?

You must be guilty.

Look at you.

You're kidding.

Let's go to my home.

We can talk while drinking.

I'm not kidding you.

Answer me,

did you take advantage of the news

of our cooperation with S.G. to set Mr. Lei up?

You deliberately disclosed this news to someone.

What do you mean?

Don't play dumb with me.

In addition to Mr. Lei,

only I knew this news.

The day I got drunk and

spilt the beans, and you heard that.

Otherwise,

except you,

could anyone else know that?

Assistant He,

I think you read too many detective novels.

You said I did this.

Do you have evidences?

I have no evidences.

Fine. Stop talking crap to me.

We'll talk tomorrow.

Lin Xiangyuan, don't play dumb with me.

You've been planning this for a long time.

I know that, Lin Xiangyuan,

you set a trap for me.

That day you got me drunk on purpose

to collect information from me, right?

How dare you beat me.

So what?

You forgot complaining of being hard up?

You forget who lent you money to buy a house?

I warn you.

Don't talk nonsense here.

Be careful I sue you for defamation.

You are so mean.

He Qunfei,

stop talking like this.

Who made the trouble?

I think you're clearer than me.

You beat me indiscriminately.

Do you think you are right?

He Qunfei,

remember that

it's not me who set Lei Yuzheng up.

It's himself.

It was his ego that got him into trouble.

Qunfei?

What's wrong with you?

Come on in.

What's wrong with you?

Are you foolish?

The rain is so heavy,

and you did not bring an umbrella.

Siqi,

dry him off.

Give it to me.

Squat down, you're too high.

Qunfei, what's wrong with you?

What's wrong with him? His is just so self-willed.

I have to take care of him if he is sick.

Siqi,

return the deposit.

We will not buy the house.

What? What do you mean?

Are you playing a trick of having yourself tortured to win my confidence?

The house is not a cabbage in the vegetable market,

and you cannot return it at will.

What happened?

You've borrowed the money, right?

We have to return the money.

Why are you so stubborn?

We can buy the house first,

and pay back the money slowly.

Are you silly?

Return the money!

Why are you yelling at me?

Siqi, calm down first.

Stop quarreling.

What happened? Qunfei.

In the daytime,

Lei Yuzheng, the president of the Yutian Group,

was taken away by the police before he signed the contract with S.G.

It is reported that

Lei Yuzheng is suspected of

using undisclosed information for profiteering.

The specific result will depend on the legal decision.

According to the insiders,

this event will have an impact on

the Universal Entertainment Center project of the Yutian Group.

It's my fault.

I spilt the beans

and got Mr. Lei in trouble.

Siqi,

Lin Xiangyuan gave me the money.

We can't take it.

Lin Xiangyuan?

You mean that Lin Xiangyuan set Lei Yuzheng up?

I'm not sure.

What I know is I was drunk that day

and said a lot of things I shouldn't have said.

OK.

I understand.

Daddy, what's going on?

Fanlv,

it's not that I don't want to help Lei Yuzheng.

You see that,

I have made so many calls and asked many people for help.

But all of them said it was troublesome.

What's troublesome about?

Just check the account from which

the stock money came.

It is an offshore account.

Even though Yuzheng did this,

he was not the only one who did that.

Why was he the only one taken to the police?

Don't say childish words.

Maybe Lei Yuzheng was not the only one who did this,

but it just happened to him.

I don't care. Yuzheng must be fine.

Daddy, I beg you.

You must find a way to save him.

Fine, fine, fine.

I'll figure out.

You're worried about Lei Yuzheng.

I understand that.

After all, you were...

But now, you're the fiancée of Xiangyuan.

This time,

just do what you can do, and don't go too far.

Or Xiangyuan may mind you doing this.

Daddy,

in such a circumstance,

I'm not in the mood

for Lin Xiangyuan' feelings.

You've sent Qunfei back to his home?

Yes.

Lei Yuzheng is arrested now,

and Qunfei looks like almost losing his soul.

We also lost our house.

How do you think

the news being disclosed?

I just know that

Lei Yuzheng would never do this.

I trust him.

I have to find a way to help him.

Fine.

Stop thinking about it anymore, and go bed earlier.

As long as I think about him

still in the detention house,

I'm distracted.

I want to know how is he doing now.

Hello, Mr. Lei.

We suspect that you are involved

in a case of illegal trading.

Please come with us and

cooperate with the investigation.

Mr. Lei,

in addition to you, who else knew that

your company carries out strategic cooperation with S.G.?

Non-public information was used for insider trading.

In addition to the fine, involved persons are liable for

certain legal responsibilities in serious cases.

In very bad cases, involved persons may be

sentenced to detention

or imprisonment.

(Xie Li)

Xie Li,

what's the matter?

Bro,

such a breaking news about Lei Yuzheng.

Yes.

To be honest, I didn't expect things

will turn out to become like this.

The police were so fast

and took Lei Yuzheng to the police station without more ado.

Of course.

Such being the case,

it means that everything is providence.

Bad luck to Lei Yuzheng.

But a thing occurs to me.

He Qunfei

is loyal to Lei Yuzheng.

If he goes to the police

and says that he did all this...

You don't know Lei Yuzheng.

He is proud and arrogant.

He would never let someone else take the blame.

Even though He Qunfei agrees,

he will never accept.

Now is the critical time.

We have to keep calm.

Don't gloat.

This is not that easy.

Mr. Lin, I'm still worried...

Keep in touch.

Mr. Lin...

That's all.

Hello, Mr. Lin.

Hi, my old classmate.

It's rare to receive your call.

May I buy you a cup of coffee?

Sure. I'll see you this afternoon.

Attorney Fang,

is the situation not good for me now?

To be honest,

all the evidences point to you now.

In addition, you have admitted that

no one else knows about it.

So, the situation is not good for you.

It seems that

I'm definitely going to jail.

Mr. Lei, don't be discouraged.

We're working hard to find

evidences in your favor.

You don't have to comfort me.

We all understand clearly that,

regardless the finding results,

I have a certain responsibility.

It's almost impossible to

hold me completely blameless.

I'm unreconciled.

But as long as Yutian survives,

I accept it.

Mr. Lei.

The Entertainment Center

is my father's greatest wish in his life.

Everything must make way for this.

Yes, I believe you can find evidences,

but it takes time,

and the company also needs to cooperate with the investigation.

I'm afraid of causing a big scandal,

which will definitely affect

the financing and progress of the Entertainment Center Project.

I accept the result of this event.

As long as the reputation of the Entertainment Center is maintained,

I would like to bear all the responsibilities alone.

No, Mr. Lei.

Even if someone has to go to jail,

I will be the one.

No, Mr. Lei.

It's my fault,

my fault.

Qunfei,

I hope I was wrong,

but the result was as I expected.

Mr. Lei,

I was so silly.

I shouldn't have got drunk.

Mr. Lei,

you can scold me.

Go.

No,

Mr. Lei,

I'm going to tell the truth to the police now.

It's me who should go to jail.

Qunfei.

Keep it down.

Don't waste your efforts. It will not work.

This is the end.

But... Mr. Lei…

I've decided.

Do as I say.

How's my father doing?

The chairman is good.

Good.

He had a stroke before and can't be stimulated.

Take care of him for me.

About me,

hide this from him as long as you can.

That's all.

I'm tired and leaving.

Attorney Fang,

is there really no way out?

As long as I can save Mr. Lei,

I can do anything.

Even if I have to be in jail for eight or ten years,

I don't care.

I mean it.

Assistant He, calm down.

I understand your feelings now,

but the law is all about evidences.

We can't act impetuously.

Moreover, it's my job to defend Mr. Lei.

I will do my best.

But...

You heard what Mr. Lei said.

We also need to consider the overall situation.

You're right,

but Mr. Lei can't go to jail.

The longer this case lasts,

the greater the impact on the company.

No one can afford it.

I believe that Mr. Lei takes all responsibilities

to make Yutian survive

and keep the Entertainment Center project smooth.

He did this for the company

and for me, a good-for-nothing subordinate.

But who can help him?

Xiaosu,

you came to me for Lei Yuzheng, right?

Why did you mention him?

I didn't come to you for him.

I just want to have a cup of coffee with my old classmate. Is that OK?

You really surprised me today.

Did I?

I heard that you lent Qunfei a million to buy a house.

It seems that you've been flush with cash lately.

Yes, I got a windfall.

Windfall? What windfall?

I invested in a one-bedroom house,

the price of which was increased after the opening of the metro station.

I sold it and earned a lot of money.

Isn't it a windfall?

This is what you're talking about?

What else?

Du Xiaosu,

I think you're weird today.

Why? Are you interested in real estate investment?

No, I just casually ask.

By the way, about Lei Yuzheng...

You...

Do you think that someone set him up on purpose?

Who knows?

So many rumors.

But I can tell you that

the things of Lei Yuzheng have nothing to do with me.

Really?

Assistant He.

Assistant He,

lending money to you is my personal decision

and has nothing to do with others.

Why are you in such a hurry?

Qunfei, what are you doing here?

Stand up.

Don't be like this.

It‘s my fault.

It's all my fault.

I beg you to save Mr. Lei.

You're making it hard for me.

I don't know who told you that

this event has something do to with me.

I have explained

all that should be explained.

I can't help with the other things.

Excuse me.

Lin Xiangyuan, you jerk.

He Qunfei.

He Qunfei, calm down.

Calm down.

Mr. Lin,

Lei Yuzheng was in big trouble this time.

I'm afraid he won't be able to stand up for a while.

I didn't expect this too.

I...
